We had a truly lovely stay at Toc Toc Toc Lisboa in the Estrela neighborhood.
This boutique hotel, run by a French family, feels far more like a beautifully lived-in home than a traditional hotel. The decor is layered, warm, and full of character, as if the house has grown and evolved over time — you feel it the moment you walk in.
We chose it because we currently live in the countryside and needed a base in the city for errands, but it quickly became a highlight of our Lisbon stay. In the evenings, we went for long walks around Estrela and even walked to Cais do Sodré. The area is lively and full of great spots, yet still very local and not overly touristy.
One of our favorite features was the honesty bar on the second floor, connected to a beautiful garden. There’s a great selection of wine, beer, and other drinks, and you simply write down what you take along with your room number — it’s added to your bill at checkout. We spent a quiet evening there, and with barely anyone around, it felt like having a private garden oasis right in the center of the city.
The staff were absolutely wonderful — kind, welcoming, and generous with their time. They gave us a lovely tour of the house when we arrived, which made the stay feel even more personal and homely.
A special mention also goes to Paulette, the resident dog at check-in, who completely stole our hearts. She only understands French, which added to the charm. After check-in, we enjoyed tea and cake in the lobby, surrounded by beautiful books, with Paulette keeping us company — one of those quiet, perfect moments you don’t forget.
Overall, Toc Toc Toc Lisboa feels intimate, soulful, and genuinely special. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, authentic place to stay in Lisbon.
