We just returned from Baja and had an absolutely fantastic experience with Todos Santos! My family of four and our daughter’s friend was guided by Cesar, who was friendly, chill, fun, informative, well prepared and tuned in to our family’s needs - we couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
We spent two days at Camp Cecil de la Sierra for a unique desert mountain experience. We loved the white rock swimming hole and ranch experience where we made tortillas, made leather bracelets and checked out the farm activities. At night we saw two elf owls, a ring tailed cat and scorpions.
We spent three days at Camp Cecil de la Isla on Isla Espiritu Santo, which was the highlight of our trip. We boated all around the island and saw humpback whales, dolphins, and schools of feeding tuna. We snorkeled with a huge school of mobula rays, and spent time just cruising around the beautiful islands searching for animals and enjoying the natural beauty. We swam, snorkeled and kayaked around the beautiful bay right in front of the camp. The highlight for me was snorkeling with the sea lions and then scuba diving with them, where I had a sea lion playfully ‘bite’ my hand - no pain, just fun, like a giant friendly dog! Our camp mates were from Spain, Venezuela and Mexico so we had fun with the other guests in the evening. The food was absolutely amazing. We were shocked that such incredible gourmet food and drinks could be prepared right on the beach in the kitchen tent.
We spent two days in Todos Santos exploring the town, checking out art and buying souvenirs. We did a taco crawl for some amazing tacos and took a gourmet Mexican cooking class at the Hotel California. All fun and delicious! The hotel pool was also a highlight, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
We spent the last two days in San Jose del Cabo exploring the art galleries and souvenir shops, eating Mexican food. We did a shark safari out into the ocean where we snorkeled with blue sharks and mako sharks – up close and personal! My son and I dirt biked in the desert mountains right down to the Sea of Cortez for an epic off-road experience.
All in, this was a very well organized, fun, unique and adventurous trip that got us up close and personal with amazing wildlife and out doors in gorgeous and wild natural settings, while teaching us a lot about Mexican culture, people and food, all while having a ton of fun. I can’t recommend Todos Santos enough for an authentic, memorable and exciting Mexican experience!!!
