⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Great location, good room, but parking issue overshadows it
As a former travel agent with ACTA Canada and a hospitality/business graduate who has conducted numerous hotel inspections across North America, I know how important it is for hotels to deliver what they advertise — and the legal obligations that come with it.
We recently stayed at the Marina Hotel in Tofino for our anniversary with our two small dogs. The location right on the marina is excellent, and Shelter Restaurant was a definite highlight — great food and service! Our room was clean and perfectly fine for a 3-star property: comfortable king bed, clean bathroom, and enough space for the dogs to feel at home.
However, the parking situation is a serious concern. The hotel clearly advertises on-site parking for guests, but this is not guaranteed in practice — which is misleading. We spent over 30 minutes circling for a spot, which is unacceptable at $400 per night. Worse, the lot is not accessible-friendly: there’s a steep incline that is challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
When we asked the front desk for help, we were told management was not on-site and there was no assistance offered — not even alternative options or a simple solution. Guests should not be left to worry about this, especially when they have mobility challenges and are on vacation.
I strongly encourage the Marina Hotel to address this misleading claim about parking availability and put in place a clear, reliable plan for guests. This is basic hospitality — and part of their legal duty to provide what is advertised.
Until then, I’d recommend this hotel only to guests who are prepared to hunt for parking and navigate the steep terrain — which is not ideal for everyone. A beautiful location and good restaurant can’t fully make up for this oversight.
