Had a horrible experience staying there with my family. We arrived at the hotel the day before my birthday, checked in, and were told that we would be able to access our rooms at 15. We explored the hotel a bit, took some pictures, and decided to go in the direction of our rooms. My dad is 73 y.o., and had some trouble walking recently, so we thought maybe it could take time as the hotel is huge. We came to our rooms at about 14:50 and decided to just wait there so that we wouldn't waste time and get to the park as soon as possible. Five minutes later, a staff member brought our luggage and asked it those were our rooms, and I said yes. Despite our rooms being ready and her opening them and putting our luggage inside, I never asked her to let us in; I just said that we're going to wait here for 5 minutes. To which she shockingly said that we couldn't do that and should leave. I politely asked her to stay there for the remaining 5 minutes (!!) and explained my dad’s condition, but she told me that we should go back down the hall to the elevator and stand there. I never argued with her or anything but was shocked that despite spending 1200 USD for two rooms per night, we were not allowed to stand next to them for 5 freaking minutes. After she was done with the luggage, she passed us at the elevator hall and said that we should remain there for one more minute. Even though her words were polite, she sounded really mean and passive-aggressive.
The thing that makes everything worse is that the booking process was so stressful. The hotels at TDR get booked so fast, and despite booking the room three months in advance, I couldn't even book breakfast. How can a hotel not have enough breakfast spots for all the guests? I couldn't book any restaurants either; all the spots were gone within an hour of the booking start. All that made me think that it must indeed be an unforgettable experience, so I didn't even read the reviews for the hotel... Some of the situations people describe are just awful. I worked in service for several years too, and I understand that they have to follow the rules, but there also must be some human decency and empathy.
Not to mention that staying at the hotel doesn’t give you any benefits unlike other Disney hotels, you don’t get a separate entry, coupons, discounts, nothing. Also, the hotel pool is not included in the price, which I’ve never encountered anywhere in the world.
Avoid.
