Tokyo Lamington Carlton

I came to try the vegan options but I was just a bit disappointed. The onegiri was way over priced and the filling was not nice. The lamington was better but a bit bland. Very moist though. I love the concept and vibe is cool but I probably won't go back tbh.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and it was better than I expected. The matcha latte isn’t too sweet. The lamingtons are light and moist inside. The yuzu meringue one is definitely worth trying :)

Lovely little shop near Melbourne Uni! Tried the nasi lemak sausage roll, Okinawa Boba Milk Tea lamington, and matcha lavender latte. All delicious. Great flavours and super friendly service. Highly recommend!

Lamington is just perfect, not too sweet and it hold it shape when holding. Melon matcha is very nice. Very strong melon smell and flavor, matcha flavor is a bit soft. Brown sugar bobba is really good. Bobba wasn't much inside, but the brown sugar bobba flavor is very obvious. The lavender matcha is very good. Very strong lavender smell, matcha flavor is very soft. Hojica latte is good. The sausage rolls are ok, the pork kastsu roll wasn't very taste like it, nasi lamak is nice, it had the chilli kick and the pastry coated with coconut. Very interesting. Tables only available indoor, and it is very similar to Japan. Small tables, but the cafe is very pretty. Staff are very friendly too. This is a card only cafe. They also sell others stuff too, like t shirt, cookies, coffee bean, etc. Street parking available.

This is a 10/10 for me 🥹 I wanna go back already, I found out about Tokyo Lamington in Carlton for a while for only got a chance to visit today and I’m very grateful! I came with my mum for a morning matcha run and she got a normal matcha latte while I tried the matcha lavender latte and while the sizes are quite small the matcha here is really a favourite of mine so it’s worth it! The flavour is really nice and strong and the lavender was also strong but I really enjoyed trying the different flavour. The miso mushroom pie had a really nice strong miso flavour and was really yummy. I also enjoyed the melon matcha lamington, it also has a strong melon flavour that I really enjoyed trying. The cafe itself is really nicely decorated, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with lots of plants. A true highlight of my visit was also the customer service because staff are very friendly and happy to help.

What a cute little spot! The lamingtons were so fluffy and not too sweet - and with heaps of interesting flavour options. The sausage rolls were also so tasty - and so were the drinks.

Tried two flavours take away at home and both were delicious, but the Dubai Chocolate was the clear winner being rich but not too sweet. The OG had a nice cream and jam filling and great coconut flakes, but the chocolate coating a little too sweet.

Lovely little spot 💛 Had their vegan lamington (chai + chia flavour today) which was delicate and light, the lavender matcha latte on oat milk and the sesame latte on oat milk which were both delicious. Such a calming space to sit and have a hot drink and dessert. 💕
