We loved our stay at Tokyo Ryokan. Kenichi is the best host, very friendly, he speaks English, the communication by email was quick and clear, he showed us around and gave us a lot of tips! The room is perfectly clean, comfortable futons, very nicely decorated.|It's in a quiet street, In front of a beautiful temple. 8 mins walk to the station, connected to everything. Amazing place to stay in Tokyo!

Our stay at Tokyo Ryokan was the highpoint of our visit in Tokyo. Kenichi is a humble and kind man who treats his guests way beyond what is paid for. The rooms are smaller and facilities shared, so you have to be okay with that, but it was very clean and very homely. We will definitely come back

I booked a room at this ryokan almost a year ago, but I only remembered to leave a review now. I cherish every day and memory of Japan, including my very brief stay in this ryokan. The owner is very accommodating and curious. He provided helpful insights and tips that greatly helped me as I navigated through the city's busy streets and their rather confusing yet very organized transpo system. I would have loved to have spent more time chatting over tea, but I had limited time then. If I ever found myself back, I'd like to stay at this Tokyo Ryokan again. Thank you. [I reserved the room ahead of the trip, which I think is what's advisable because ryokan rooms are in demand for tourists. Highly recommended for that authentic Japanese feels. I love tatami!]

Tokyo Ryokan is not just a place to stay; it's an immersion into Japanese culture and hospitality at its finest.|The ryokan's location is unbeatable. Nestled in a quiet street, it's just a short walk from the main vibrant area of Asakusa steeped in history, with the iconic Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Street just a 10 min walk away. The nearby metro stations at short-walking distance also provide easy access to explore the rest of Tokyo. The ryokan's quiet and peaceful setting offers an authentic Japanese experience and a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The tatami mat rooms (3 rooms on the first floor) and shared bathroom (ground floor) are impeccably clean, minimalist, and exude a calming ambiance. Every detail, from the futon bedding to the shoji screens, reflects the timeless elegance of Japanese design.|Kenichi the host goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience for every guest. His impeccable English, attentiveness, helpfulness, and deep knowledge of Japan and different parts of the world lend well to rich discussions. Kenichi’s dedication to his craft is impressive to behold. Whether it was providing insider tips on local attractions and food, assisting with travel mess ups, or sharing engaging stories about Japanese traditions, history and culture, Kenichi's presence and hospitality made our experience truly special. It's a labour of love that feels like a living form of Japanese art.

Tokyo Ryokan is a charming place to stay in the heart of Asakusa. Its prime location offers easy access to transit lines and the neighborhood’s main attractions. The ryokan is impeccably clean, with a minimalist approach that provides everything you need and nothing you don’t. What truly sets this stay apart is the exceptional host, Kenichi. His kindness and eagerness to help make your visit unforgettable. Thanks to his thoughtful recommendations, we enjoyed unique experiences we wouldn’t have found on our own. We’re deeply grateful for his hospitality!

Tokyo Ryokan is very convenient to connect subway Ginza line with walkable distance. This area also filled with plenty of foods to explore included Ramen, Sushi, Tempura, Unagi, Pancake , etc. Local onsen also walkable from ryokan with 5-8mins walk. The opposite site of ryokan is Asakusa area, which included Sensoji temple, the landmark for Asakusa and lots of department store like Rox, Donki mall. The room is not big but enough for 2 persons to sleep with 2 luggages, with tatami + Japanese futon with heater for winter season. Shared toilet and bathroom at first floor which is super clean, wifi is free but not that fast. Kenichi san is very helpful in everything from sightseeing places, recommended restaurants, tips for foreigners, etc. Worth for every yen we paid !!! Will stay here again next time in Tokyo.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the Tokyo Ryokan. We loved sleeping on Futons on traditional Tatami mats. The Ryokan is in a great location to enjoy Asakusa (a delightful area, with temples, restaurants, Iskayas, Onsens, close the the sky tree, Ueno park and many museums). Kenichi who runs the Ryokan made our stay unforgettable. He showed us many great places in Tokyo, and gave excellent recommendations for things to do. He even taught us Origami! We'll miss you Kenichi!

If you want a traditional, simple place to stay, Tokyo Ryokan is a great choice. There are only three rooms available, so book in advance if you can. The rooms are neat and tidy and despite being traditional, have power outlets and even AC (although the AC is not separate for each room). Given the traditional arrangement, the walls are thin so keep that in mind. Wi-Fi is available. The bathroom, while is common for all guests, is also kept clean. Kenichi-san, the owner, speaks fluent English and is very friendly and helpful. He can help you find your way around, advice which way to go depending on whether you want get somewhere faster or cheaper and suggest others sights you might be interest in. Likewise, he can help you find a good place to eat, whether you want a smaller establishment mostly visited by locals, or a more tourist-oriented place. If you want to just chat, be it about Japan, your own home country, or anything else, Kenichi-san is a great companion. The building is located on a small side street in Asakusa, which offers some peace from the bustling of the city, while remaining within a short walking distance from every necessary spot, be it a subway station, a laundry, a convenience store, supermarket or restaurants and bars. Thanks for everything, Kenichi-san and Tokyo Ryokan. -Mira
