Tolbod Bodega - Atlas Obscura

"Toldbod Bodega is an especially popular destination during Christmas time with classics like sild og snaps known to be festively favored. In December, booking ahead is never a bad idea. The restaurant serves a special Yuletide menu, typically starting from November, with special family-beloved dishes like the nationalretten (the ‘national meal’ in English), stegt flæsk med persillesovs (fried pork with parsley sauce)." - Atlas Obscura

I was out with one of my colleagues and we decided to go get some good coffee. Unfortunately most of the restaurants in the area were either too expensive or just closed. We walked by this restaurant and we took a glimpse of what it looked like on the inside. Since we were very tired of walking and the weather outside wasn't the most pleasant, we decided to just go in. At first we hesitated because by the looks of it we thought it would be another one of those very expensive restaurants. We were greeted by a lady that also walked us to our table. She was also trying to speak her best English so we could understand each other. We had trouble with reading the menu and we asked for one in English so please keep this in mind if you are a tourist that is planning on going to this restaurant. We ordered tea, Irish coffee and an apple pie. I was completely impressed when I saw how good the apple pie looked and my colleague said it was the best she had ever eaten. I honestly regret not getting one for myself too. I got the Irish coffee and at first glance it looked like a frappé. It was the first Irish coffee that I drank that was this intense. I legally enjoyed it and this time my colleague regretted not getting this kind of coffee too. Moral of the story: the food and drinks are so good that if you think about getting these, you should just do it. It's worth it. The lady that served us was very friendly and understanding. She tried her best to make sure we understand her. For example she had a bit of trouble trying to explain the kinds of tea that they have so she brought my colleague the whole box of tea so she can pick which one she likes. I thought it was sweet of her to do so and I really appreciate that she tried her best to explain things. We had a bit of trouble with the payment because she added one more thing to the check that we didn't order. It was a bit hard to fix the situation, but we got our money back and only paid for what we ordered. The atmosphere was so cozy and we kept staring at everything around us because to us it looked like some kind of museum. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for any tourists that want something good to eat or drink and that is not overpriced.

We went looking for a Danish resto and found it! Charming, vintage looking spot. Has English Menu too. Had the WienerSchnitzel and a large beer!

The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and kind service. We ordered the eggs and shrimp, roast beef and chicken dishes. None of them were big portions but were fine, enough to leave you without hunger (we were 3 women). The chicken and the shrimp were cold and all served with bread. For the chicken dish a bit more bread would have been beneficial. I would recommend if you want to eat a typical danish dish.

Toldbod Bodega is a traditional Danish restaurant serving homemade Danish dishes, including Danish "smørrebrød". The venue appears to be genuinely authentically Danish and one feels that one can read the place's long history in the interior. The menu is large and contains a long list of Danish specialities. However, there are few vegetarian options. The food that is served seems homemade, tastes good and is nicely presented. The downside of the place is the service. The staff appear arrogant and uninterested in us as guests. It takes a long time to get menus, order and pay. There is a lack of both smiles and pleasant comments from the employees. The price level on the site is medium to high. Based on the poor service, I will not visit the place again, nor can I recommend the place to others.

Toldbod Bodega is a unique culinary experience found in the heart of Copenhagen. We tried some Danish sandwiches here and were surprised by the presentation and the perfect blend between the ingredients. The place itself is a cosy, chic, vintage house with moody lighting and nice music. Don't skip this one if you want a taste of Danish cusine.

By pure chance while out strolling around my first time in copenhagen or Denmark I stumbled across this restaurant. I was greeted and shown to a table straight away. First I would say that there is a very old feeling to the place which is something I love so I felt very comfortable. Also there is a really nice atmosphere inside very relaxed and busy but not loud. The WiFi was good which allowed me to continue with my business while I waited for my food. The menu was traditional Danish cuisine which was something I was eager to try (why come to Denmark and not try the local food). Service was fantastic the waitress explained the dishes to me and spoke outstanding English (lucky for me). I ordered Mary's quick lunch a large platter or pork, fish, prawn, pickled veg, cheese, bread and crackers. It was excellent and totally surprised me to what I thought Danish food would be like. Price was very reasonable and I would love to go back again.

Traditional Danish restaurant, really liked the atmosphere and old decor. The waiter was nice and helpful. We tried several Danish dishes and it was good. The portions are generous as well.

Yelp
I was introduced to this place by a friend who lives in Copenhagen. It's an establishment and has been around for a while. The interior is very nice and beautifully decorated with tons of pictures on the wall and a packed bar. It's split into rooms and is very cosy and romantic. The menu is very Danish with lots of Smørebrød. We decided to order a combo to share for lunch. It came with fried fish, roasted pork and cheese to put on top of nice dense bread. The toppings were also on the side like a Remoulade, Pickled cucumber and braised cabbage. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it. They have their own craft beer here and you can ask for it. They also have a Christmas special Beer from a local brewery which was very nice. The Christmas auavit was also lovely. I would happily come here again. It's great food, friendly service and decent portions. A gem of a place in Copenhagen for a delicious Smørebrød.

Yelp
My husband, 3 year old daughter and I arrived about 10 minutes after they opened today. My daughter was quietly sitting in her stroller and I went inside without her to inquire where we could put her stroller so it would be out of the way. The hostess responded "It doesn't matter because we are completely booked. I don't have a table for you." I looked around and the restaurant was completely empty. Not a single patron. I thanked her and left. My husband and I spent quite awhile on the sidewalk nearby researching other restaurants and during that time no one entered the restaurant. The place was still completely empty when we walked away quite a while later. The hostess was standing out front and deliberately avoided eye contact with me. While we were walking to another restaurant we saw some graffiti around the corner that said "Tourist go home." Loud and clear, Copenhagen. Loud and clear.

Yelp
This was a wonderful lunch after a day of walking around Copenhagen! The food was wonderful! The service was slightly slow but the cozy atmosphere made it so I never felt deprived of anything. My lunch of rye breaded fish was excellent and quite filling.

Yelp
One star for the food (really not very good - pickled herring is pretty solid though) and one for the décor. Other than that - pure, unadultered sh*t. Was really surprised by how bad the service was and I'm from the land of bad service (London). Had to flag the waiter down for literally every course. At one point the chef came out and I motioned and he held up his arms as if to say 'there's no one here!'. Super sh*t head! You're a dipsh*t! My favourite parts were: 1. When they cleared 4 of our 6 plates. Then finally another one and then left the last one sitting next to one of my guests like they were trying to lure in wild dogs. I flagged the waiter more than 3 times and he seemed progressively annoyed that I was trying to call him over. I'm super sorry I was trying to give you money in exchange for services! I feel super bad about that. 2. We tried to order dessert for about 30 minutes. Truly shocking. I must admit, we were a 'mixed' bunch - myself American but Brits, a Persian, an Asian woman - it felt like racism. That's a lofty charge so I won't get into details - I could be entirely wrong - but I watched a lot of tables of Danes get their food and head on out but we were left waiting. And waiting. 3. They actually handed me the card charger when it was asking for a tip. But it was in Danish and I have an American credit card...so...but yeah, don't worry about the tip screen too much love. Skip. There are lots of good places to get food in Copenhagen. I even think this place might have been one of them. A long time ago - give it a pass.

Yelp
I absolutely adored this place. This is a quaint old restaurant with real history and charm. Clearly the regulars love it, and the owners are proud. Like many places in Copenhagen, it is a delightful mixture of the impeccably upright and the slightly eccentric. Serving entirely classical, traditional Danish food, the herring and pork dishes are outstanding, as are the sweets. The walls are decorated with posters of artists, actors, plays, concerts and newspaper cuttings going back decades. Service is a little austere - even severe - but it makes the occasional smile more welcome. Very strongly recommended.
