"This scenic and flat 20-mileround-trip bicycle route follows the waterfront promenade that wrapsaround Tolo Harbour, which makesa ride an excellent way to combine an easy bit of exercise with sightseeing. Enjoy views of the eight peaks of the Pat Sin Leng mountain range as you pedal and soak up the ultramodern architecture of the Hong Kong Science Park. At the Tai Po Waterfront Park, climb the 105-foot lookout tower to snap photos of panoramic harbor and park views before heading back the same way you came. The full round-trip ride takes twoto threehours, depending on how often you stop for photos. Join a guided tour, or go solo and rent bikes by the Shing Mun River at Sha Tin Park near the Sha Tin MTR station."

A long stretch of road by the sea, ok for riding bike and running long distances but air too polluted for walking. Ok to do once.

Yelp
Hong Kong is gifted in the sense that it has so many natural harbours- the one we always look at or talk about it the Victoria Harbour. the sights and scenes draw millions here a year and it could not be beaten anywhere else. Now if you were in HK and wanted to look at a more, natural harbor with a view for a quiet stroll or bike ride (you definitely cant do that in town)- Tolo Harbour will be one for you. Tolo harbor is a natural harbor that is enclosed on three sides- with Taipo to one end, Shatin at the other and Ma On Shan on the south shore of it. Over the years it has seen little destruction of its original shape (with the exception of the Science Park/ Providence bay development). A cycle lane runs right from Tai Wai to Taipo and its runs the entire length of the harbor with promenades lining all 3 sides of the shore. Strange enough is that you will note that no swims in it- for a long time it was simply too dirty to and the fact is that there are no beaches here. More recently, however, water quality has improved greatly and you can now see all forms of watersports taking place and people do fish from the piers jutting out here and there. On a good day you will truly appreciate why Hong Kong is such a gifted place- with the bays and hills surrounding it, it makes for a soothing bike ride or walk. Truth be told there isn't much in terms of historical value but it is a backyard for HKers in the weekend with thousands descending on the cycle lane traversing between the two ends. It does get quite busy at the weekends but it adds to the atmosphere. The Science Park adds itself as a stopping point in offering cafes and restaurants that provides you with a place to admire the harbor. I would recommend anyone wanting a workout to come here.
