"A warren of rooms make up this cozy restaurant that some claim is the oldest on the island. The building itself was originally a private waterside home constructed in 1652—some 40 years after the first English settlers arrived to Bermuda —and it has operated as restaurant for more than a century. The name comes from the married Irish poet who lived here and spent his days on Bermuda composing love poems to local women. However, don’t let the tavern in the name fool you: The cuisine and vibe here is haute, and the menu showcases French influences on island favorites, as well as traditional Bermuda fish chowder and grilled meats; if they're listed on the day's menu, the soufflés are a must-try. There’s no longer exactly a dress code (the emphasis is on "elegant casual"), but like everything in Bermuda, it is best to err on the side of formal."

Absolutely spectacular restaurant. The history, and heritage is palpable. The food and service was top notch. I very much recommend this place for anybody traveling through Bermuda. An excellent experience.

Excellent. Delicious food, wonderful service and a super cozy atmosphere. I had escargot, then an arugula salad with Stilton and walnuts. My husband had scallops, then lamb ragú pasta, followed by chocolate soufflé. It was all really yummy. Not inexpensive, but worth it!

Tom Moore's Tavern is perhaps the best fine dining experience to be had in Bermuda, and that's saying a lot. The location can trace its roots to the 1600s making it something of an institution by itself. We ordered the Bermuda fish chowder and mussels as appetizers. I take pride in the mussels I prepare at home - these were otherworldly and highly recommended. Our main courses were salmon, and the catch of the day (tuna). Both were delicious! We finished with dessert which was equally delightful.

First time visiting here as it was the only place open later in the day. The service was very friendly and we received our food relatively quick. The prices are pretty expensive (relative to where I’m from (Toronto)). The portions are also really small and it would take a lot more food to fill the average person in my experience there. 5/5 for the tasty food as it was made perfectly.

It starts with the incredibly witty and funny Italian maître d’. It then evolves to some brilliant appetizers and entrées. And then concludes with one of the better soufflés I have had. The white tablecloth service is impeccable and you can feel the hundreds of years of history as you eat the delicious food. A definite must if you are on the island of Bermuda

Not a good experience for a special anniversary meal This was supposed to be a special meal celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. We had asked the concierge at our hotel for a recommendation for a quaint, romantic restaurant, and she suggested Tom Moore’s Tavern. She called the restaurant for us to arrange a reservation for 6:30 PM. We arrived at 6:20 PM. It was raining and the restaurant appeared to be closed – no lights were on and no cars in the parking lot. We tried the door which was locked. Someone came to the door and said the restaurant did not open until 6:30 and we had to wait outside (in the rain!) to be seated. We were the only patrons at that point. Weird. Why tell our concierge they had a table at 6:30 PM and not have the doors open prior to that? Eventually, more people arrived. We were seated and ordered two glasses of wine. The owner, apparently, is responsible for taking dinner orders. He told us what the specials were for the evening, and then returned to take our dinner order. When we told him that we wanted to share a Caesar salad (as we always do) he scowled. as more people arrived, we overheard others also asking to share the Caesar salad. His reaction towards them was not the same as ours! A decisive difference in his attitude! Perhaps because we were two women? I ordered the ribeye ($78) medium, and my wife ordered the rack of lamb special. My ribeye was undercooked and had more fat than meat. Shortly after our meal arrived, the owner returned and asked what we wanted for dessert? There were only two choices, and we decided on the chocolate soufflé. Again, he was annoyed that we chose only one dessert (which, by the way, we didn’t finish) No one asked us if we wanted coffee, and no one even came to the table to ask! Our meal came to $278.45, which we didn’t mind paying, however, we would have appreciated being treated with the same respect as the other patrons. Our money is just as good as theirs! Sorry, but I would not recommend this stuffy establishment with its boorish owner!

the meat eaters were very happy with their meals, but the vegan in the group was disappointed they didn’t have the vegan ravioli which was advertised online (or any vegan option on the menu at all). perhaps the website had not been updated in a while.

Our ultimate fave while we were in Bermuda. The setting, service, and food. It was a superb experience!
