Tom’s Sushi is absolutely worth the wait! We arrived around 7 PM and it was packed, but we joined the waitlist and got a call back within the hour — quicker than expected! We were seated at a cozy window spot, which made the experience even better. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was top-notch. Everything we ordered was fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. You can tell they care about quality here. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just testing the waters, this place delivers. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Incredible sushi for beyond reasonable pricing! You can’t go wrong with any menu item, but we loved the specialty rolls and sashimi above all. We were only in Vancouver for a week and came for a second visit because it was truly irresistible. The service was also top notch. Can’t recommend Tom Sushi enough, thanks to all of the hardworking staff!

Google
Tom Sushi is worth the wait. Some friends and I waited about 30 minutes for a table, which seemed reasonable for a weekend dinner. The food was excellent and had enough variety that even our friend with allergies could find something easily. Servers were very attentive even during the dinner rush. Very cute interior. Would definitely come back.

Google
Tom Sushi is a great little spot to grab sushi and hang out with friends. The seafood is fresh, and everything we tried was tasty. I had the scallop motoyaki and a sashimi combo — both were really good. Also tried the takoyaki and their signature dynamite roll, which didn’t disappoint. Their rolls overall are solid, and I definitely want to try the hand rolls next time! Just a heads-up — it’s walk-in only, so no reservations, and it can get busy. Also, it’s a bit on the pricier side. Overall, chill vibe, friendly service, and great sushi.

Google
It’s generally a very popular spot so it’s worth the wait so make sure you go put your name down and then go have a drink at a nearby bar. It’s very comfortable seating in atmosphere in there every body is super friendly and it is one of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had and I’m so glad we came here to try it. The sashimi literally melts in your mouth.

Google
Food here is fantastic. We heard about the long wait times so we went a tad bit early and missed the line. If you’re craving good quality Japanese food, this is the place!

Google
Absolutely loved Tom Sushi. The tuna and salmon sashimi were so fresh and flavourful, with just the right amount of spice. The dynamite roll was a standout. The vibe is sleek and modern, right in the heart of Davie Street. Tasty tea and great service topped it all off. New fave spot for sure. 🍣

Google
we did a walk in. The hostess said it would be 1.5 hr wait time but it was only 1 hr. They text you when your table is ready. They give you a 5 min grace time after they call you that your table is ready. The restaurant is intimate and very welcoming. They get a lot of takeouts like ALOT!!! this place is bustling busy. No down time. You have to use your phone to scan the QR code to view the menu. The price is incredibly amazing and you get great quality food. The food came so fast. The girls at the front are so nice and friendly. They often come back to refill our cup with green tea. I’m from Toronto so I will come back here with my family again. Thanks for the amazing experience

Yelp
Amazing aburi hako sushi! Everything that we tried was impressive. The service is outstanding and the place bright and modern.

Yelp
Aburi EVERYTHING!!! Came here because we wanted aburi hako (pressed) sushi while we were in Canada, but everything else that we ordered turned out to be even more delicious and at a reasonable price. The interesting thing Tom Sushi has is they offer a ton of nigiri aburi style (torched). I got to try my favorite, amaebi, aburi style which was really fun. We also got the beef yaki udon which was delicious. Although I wish we had just gotten a bunch of nigiri because that's highlight imo 5 for the torch

Yelp
It felt like everyone was imploring me to go to Tom Sushi, but I don't eat sushi. Luckily my husband loves it and my daughter is just starting to try it, so I figured I would suck it up and give this place a try. We came pretty early around 4:30 to try to beat the dinner rush. We waited about 30 minutes, just long enough to walk down to the beach and up and down the street a little ways before our table was ready. The staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu. My husband and daughter both enjoyed their rolls and sashimi. Everything was incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. They were both so happy. I went with the teriyaki chicken, which I wouldn't really recommend. It came out on a sizzling platter served on a bed of vegetables, which I was excited about, but it was seriously lacking in flavor like it even needed salt. I'm not sure what happened, the little bits of sauce I had were great but there just wasn't enough. I should have went with a katsu or tempura, but definitely not holding it against them since they primarily deal with sushi. If you are a sushi lover this seems like the perfect place for you.

Yelp
Great Food. Great Service. Sane prices. You really can't ask for more in 2024. Why do I say that? Well.... The last three Sushi places we were regulars at just kinda went to hell in a hand basket. The portion sizes were cut in half while the prices raised...oh and the moldy ginger didn't help. Now, as for Tom Sushi.... The tasteful quality packaging was a good start. Our takeout order wasn't in a brown crappy paper bag resembling a dog poop bag they now charge you for everywhere in Vancouver. It was a quality specifically branded to-go bag with all our items carefully packaged inside in a generous and tasteful manner. Have you ever had sushi that just didn't taste like anything? After all, it is just bland white sticky rice with raw fish. Sadly, that seems to be going around. Yup, Vancouver's sushi scene is heading for Bronze. Slightly pisses me off, because not only is Vancouver known for its Sushi, but it's one of my favourite foods. Moving on...... Every single ingredient rolled into a meticulously crafted sushi at Tom's is full of fresh flavour. I would say even their miso soup is superior to much of their surrounding competition. Tom, It was nice to meet you. I like your style. I'll see you soon.

Yelp
I've been to tom sushi a total of three times now. The waiting time can be super hit or miss. The restaurant is very clean and modern. The first two times I went with a group, so we got the combo and it was very yummy and at a great price point. However, this last time I went with just one other person we ordered off the menu and it felt like an off day. I usually love the tea that tom sushi offers for free, but it felt like the tea had not steeped at all that day and the food was not as good as I remembered it being. That being said I'm still giving the restaurant 4 stars, hoping it was just an off day because the other two times I went it was so good. My favorite signature roll is the avocado one!!

Yelp
The food was great and at an amazing price. Service was quick and attentive. The ambiance was calm peaceful and easy going to unwind after a long day. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
If you watch YouTube food videos on cities you're about to travel to, like I do, then you will inevitably see Tom Sushi in many of the Vancouver ones. The claims were that Tom Sushi has very fresh food and large portions for a very reasonable price. Well, they were right! It was just as advertised and since we had heard how popular they were, we went before the rush and got a great table right away. So yes, go early or late otherwise you may be standing on the sidewalk for a while since it isn't a large restaurant or has much of a waiting area. But please do go since the sushi is all very fresh, creative, well executed, and very well priced. The fine service and comfortable ambiance make for a very good time.

Yelp
Totally would've loved to give more starts but they "supposedly" ran out of uni, which was the only reason I had bypassed three other sushi restaurants in the area. Either way, their shrimp tempura and sushi deluxe platter were freshly made. The spider roll was a unique twist. The restaurant is clean, elegant, & worth the wait.

Yelp
Wow. Locals know what the best are. We were visiting from Vegas and decided to come here based on a local's recommendation. We were going to go to Miku based on the reviews but it was far from our hotel and we didn't have a reservation. We walked in and was seated pretty quickly despite them putting us on a waiting list. Seating inside is pretty limited and I don't recommend groups more than 4. You'll be waiting a long time. We got the following: -Blue fin o-toro sashimi- Absolutely amazing. So fresh. Melted in my mouth. Haven't had something this fresh in a while. Worth every penny. Pretty good price for this. It's more expensive in the states for us. If you are visiting, must get! -dynamite roll- delicious! Server recommended it and I literally devoured it! -deluxe jalapeño aburi hako- I've never heard of hako until I came here. I guess I've had it but they never call it smashed sushi. This was exceptional!! -Nabeyaki udon- wow this had so much seafood in this soup. They did not go cheap with adding plenty of seafood and proteins. Delicious broth. It also came with big pieces of shrimp tempura. -sesame ice cream- yummmm! Scrumptious dessert to top off the meal. Service was on point! Everyone was so friendly and kind. Our green tea was always filled.

Yelp
Wow! Melts in your mouth fish and service that's wonderful. Okay so you need to wait a long time to get seated due to the small place and high demand. But you won't be disappointed. Getting through the door doesn't feel that easy or warm and fuzzy. Get your name on the list and wait for the text. Yes, there's lots of people milling around and some smoking (cough!). But we're seated and the tea / drink service is attentive. Order as you go or a larger order, we did the slower and enjoy route. Sorry folks but at least we didn't go out for a smoke and hang out at the table like one guy we say. Dude! Highlight were the unagi that has a sweetness and buttery feel. The house roll was good but l my wife's choice as a compromise though good. The foie gras was awesome as was the toro! Tuna bomb was a bit disappointing with the hardness of the fried accompaniment. Salmon belly sashimi was delightful. Wrapped up with black sesame ice cream that provided that extra nuttiness. Yum! We're definitely coming back. Enjoy!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious sushi! I had heard nothing but great things about this place and made it a point to come here during my trip to Vancouver. The inside is quite small with not too many tables, and they mentioned that the wait is usually around 20-30 minutes at all times. Upon being seated we were served tea and water. Their menu is a QR code but you can also ask for the physical menu if you need it. I ended up getting the salmon jalapeno aburi sushi and the dirty mamga roll. Both were delicious! Aburi sushi seems to be popular in Vancouver, and this place did it great - the salmon was nicely torched and the thin layer of spicy mayo and a pickled jalapeno added such a nice touch. On the other hand, the dirty magma roll was also great - packed tightly with abundant filling and a thin layer of rice. It had crab and avocado inside, with torched scallops on top - I really liked the torched touch! There was also a layer of spicy mayo on top of this one which was kind of a lot but I was able to just brush some of it off. Overall, service was friendly and very present, and the food was absolutely delicious! Would definitely come back and recommend trying this place out.

Yelp
My friends and I had to wait for about 45 minutes two Friday dinners ago before we got seated. Fortunately, the area is walkable with a lot of stores to look at and go into, so the wait wasn't too bad. We were here for an hour and half or so, where most of us ordered multiple rounds of sushi. The five of us also got AGEDASHI TOFU and SPICY AGEDASHI TOFU to share. We thought the regular tofu wasn't flavorful enough and ended up dipping it into the spicy sauce from the spicy tofu. The tofu is piping hot, so we all burnt the roof of our mouths, lol. So we ordered a lot and ate a lot, so I'll list a few of my favorites along with ones I wasn't as impressed by. The favorites were truly favorites, though. * Favorites: negitoro hand roll, yellowtail nigiri, salmon belly nigiri, striped jack nigiri (a chef's special!) * Meh: scallop nigiri (not the most sweet), negihama maki roll, bluefin nigiri trio (expensive and not that amazing) Some cons: (1) The seaweed for the hand rolls weren't fresh and quite hard to bite and rip off cleanly. (2) The soy sauce was really salty and on the darker side -- I think a lighter and sweeter soy sauce would have been a better complement for the seafood. Our server was great and attentive (we literally ordered multiple rounds of sushi). The sushi quality was very fresh and the price point is good! For 14 nigiris, two hand rolls, and one maki roll, I paid about CA$90 which is pretty solid.
google avatar

Liz W.

Yelp
Nice place! Super clean, well lit, and busy! They do not take reservations, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We ordered a few nigiri (Shima Aji, Tuna and Unagi), a Negihama Maki, and a Devils Roll. Everything was good. No complaints except the wasabi was the powdered kind. I'm a snob when it comes to wasabi. lol But overall great.

Yelp
For our last meal in Vancouver, we decided to check out the sushi scene. My husband and I went for dinner on a Wednesday at around 6:30. They don't accept reservations, and we were quoted an hour wait (they'll call you when your table is ready), and the quote was accurate. Since I'm expecting, I sadly had to skip out on the raw fish. I ordered the Super Spider Roll (soft shell crab, avocado, kappa, masago in a sesame soybean paper with tonkatsu sauce), and the BC Roll (BBQ salmon skin, crab meat, kappa, masago, unagi sauce), hold the masago. FYI - kappa is cucumber. The rolls weren't bad for cooked rolls. But if you're eating a whole tempura roll (super spider) by yourself, it becomes a bit much after a while. I liked the BC roll better. Even though it was fake crab meat, it tasted like higher quality fake crab meat, if that makes sense. I also had a piece of the Dungeness crab sushi, but it had too much mayo and was just underwhelming. I'm not even sure if it was real Dungeness crab, or the same fake crab meat they used for the BC roll. Hubby had the Sashimi Sushi Combo (tuna and salmon sashimi - 2 pcs each, ebi, tuna, salmon, hokkigai, and chopped scallop), and ordered some toro and salmon belly sashimi on the side. He had no complaints, and it looked really good. So I'm sure their raw options are probably better but if I were just basing my review off the cooked rolls, I would have to give it 3 stars.

Yelp
Absolutely one of my favourite new places!! The ambiance/decor was very inviting and elegant in a cozy way; the service was fantastic!! and the food was delicious, nicely plated and came quickly despite a busy lunch time rush. The prices were very competitive and the variety of food was impressive. From fancier sushi (pressed type or rarer fish) to simple noodle dishes and a nice variety of appetizers, there is something from everyone! Thanks Tom Sushi for a great first experience; I'll be back!!
google avatar

Yelp
Tom Sushi was a delight to visit. The waitlist was about 20 minutes but well worth the wait. After we were seated, me and my partner were brought hot green tea. We essentially ordered our own custom a-la-cart omakase. Some highlight pieces were the hamatoro, chutoro, and uni. My partner asked where the shop sourced their uni and the worker told us California. The service was great and never let our tea become empty. The vibe is cute. One thing to note is they only give you real wasabi for the expensive fish like uni, chutoro, and hamatoro.

Yelp
Went here as it was recommended by a friend. On another note, I miss Vancouver sushi so much! Casual ambience, they also have Korean dishes as the owner is Korean but don't let this fool you. The sushi here is top tier! As well, the service was friendly and fast Sashimi was fresh, thick cut and delicious! The aburi was my favourite - a well balanced flavour of smokiness, spiciness, and freshness. The magma roll was ok but I wouldn't order it again because it was too creamy...the freshness of the scallop was lost
google avatar

Annabel L.

Yelp
I came for a day trip with friends and discovered this this place from a Vancouver foodie vlog and it did not disappoint! It was the perfect location to have the best of both worlds-- high quality sushi and katsu. For a group of four, we ordered our own nigiri and the the cheese loin katsu. The katsu can be it's own meal as it the portions are decent and come with one more extra bowl of rice and salad (for free!). Cheese was gooey and came out piping hot. My favorite nigiri pieces were the salmon belly and especially toro. And the salmon hako aburi was so smoky and flavorful -- I would get again 100%. The service was lovely, ambiance feels premium and reminiscent of a muji store. They serve you good green tea and the plating made my heart flutter. The wait on a Saturday night was about an hour but it flew by so it was ok but make sure to get there earlier if you can! If you/group can't decide whether you want sushi or katsu maybe turn to Tom sushi for the experience of both.

Yelp
Long waits but worth it! Was told it would be a 2 hour wait for Friday night dinner but it ended up being closer to 1.5 hours. Food was great. Came in after a long day driving and hiking the sea to sky route so definitely was just hungry but everything was fresh and delicious. Most Nigiris are minimal with little to no dressing so nothing specular, but freshness quality to quantity ratio was there. We ordered extra REAL wasabi on the side for ~3 CAD which obviously made everything better. Everything was also fried to perfection so great apps. Service was exceptional and attentive without the servers being overbearing. Love all the girls here! Would come back just for the foie gras nigiris but the good food and service is what makes Tom Sushi special.
google avatar

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint! Fresh sushi, and the lineup out the door was worth the wait. Many people were ordering takeout too. We got Tray C to share between 5 people, and in addition we got the chicken udon and donburi. We also got 4 pieces of salmon sashimi to try. Expect to wait on a busy night with no reservation. Ambiance transports you to Japan and it feels quite nice.

Yelp
When it comes to the quality of sushi and value, it is difficult to beat Tom Sushi. We keep coming back to Tom Sushi for their fresh selections of sashimi and nigiri and their unique yaki udon. We figured out the specifics to make sure we get a table in a timely manner. They do not take reservations so for dinner, we arrive at around 4:30 PM and we rarely have to wait longer than 15 minutes. We went all in for nigiri sushi and sashimi this time. We also tried oyster motoyaki, which was really good. And their mentaiko kimchi yaki udon is spectacular as always. And love the authentic Japanese sushi joint ambiance. Deluxe sashimi was top notch and it even included toro, which melted in my mouth. We devoured our nigiris and kept re-ordering more. Aburi (torched) salmon (basically, seared salmon) was great, salmon belly was buttery soft, ikura was fresh, amaebi was fresh and sweet, and seriously, everything else was also great. I am already planning to go back.

Yelp
Everything was perfect! The sushi was so fresh. The service was exceptional! We thankfully made it in right before the rush so we were seated right away. But soon after, there were groups of people waiting. So you know its good! Enjoyed the ambiance, it gave a very fresh, clean vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
I heard so much about this place from TikTok and Vancouver eats... sadly I don't really feel the same. The fish itself was pretty fresh but other than that nothing really stood out. I'd rather pay the extra $$$ and go to Raisu if you're visiting.
google avatar

Yelp
Great tasting sushi in downtown Vancouver. There was almost an hour wait for our party of 3 on a Friday night, but it was well worth it. Ordered some nigiris and they were all delicious. My favorites were the Amaebi, Foie Gras, and Otoro. Fish was fresh. Sad they didn't have any Uni available :( We also had rolls but they were not as good as the nigiris. Simple modern decor with casual vibes. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would come here again
google avatar

Yelp
Tom Sushi in Vancouver offers a delightful variety of rolls and nigiri that never fail to impress. Their menu boasts an array of flavors that cater to every palate. What's more, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality you receive. The service is always attentive and friendly, adding to the overall dining experience. A solid choice for sushi lovers looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Yelp
If you do not have a reservation, you will have to wait for about 30 minutes to an hour. Very popular! I was solo and ordered Bluefin Sashimi Trio (2pcs of O-Toro, Chu-Toro, and Akami $46.00), Uni and Ikura Nigiri, Deluxe Aburi Hako 6pcs $15.00 (Japanese traditional pressed sushi. Comes w/ housemade pickled zuku jalapeno on top.) and also miso soup. To be honest, I was disappointed with the Bluefin Sashimi Trio. Sashimi looked good, but it was streaky and remained in the mouth. Normally it would be melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I left the Deluxe Aburi Hako sushi. I liked inside the restaurant energy and nice staff.

Yelp
First time visiting Vancouver and was extremely excited to try this place out! The place is small but we went here during 2-3pm so the service was fast! Interior is modern, plates are good quality and upon getting your food they serve you with hot tea! The pricing are good as well for the quality of sushi! I would be back here with friends when I comeback to visit!

Yelp
One of the best value for sushi in town. Excellent service tasty and fresh fish. Come and check this place out if you're visiting BC Vancouver you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Wanted to try a different spot for sushi from one i regular go to. Ended up with Tom Sushi. To begin with make sure to give yourself ample time since the place is small and you may need to place your name on a waitlist. The service here overall is very friendly and welcoming. Ended up having 5 speciality sushi's. Had the red dynamite roll, black dragon roll, dirty magma roll, salmonholic roll, and the mango roll. All of them unique in flavor and delicious in their own way. You cannot miss here. If I have the opportunity next time would try some of the remaining from the list. Overall, good spot for sushi.

Yelp
Easily one of the best meals we've had in Vancouver. The nigiri tasted as they should, fish had a clean flavor, great texture and paired well with the seasoned rice. Would definitely come back again. My MIL ordered the yakisoba and it was surprisingly also delicious! We came on a Wednesday for an early dinner at 4:30 and all the seats were full but we waited maybe 15-20 min and there were eight of us. Got seated separately but still worth it. The menu is extensive, there's something for everyone but the nigiri is where it's at. They don't take reservations, so come at off peak times.
google avatar

Conrad Y.

Yelp
Have heard great things about Tom's and I see why people like it-good well humoured service and delicious well priced food is a winner in this town. Someone obviously knows the business and planned this place down to small details without going crazy you can understand the lineups that happen in summer.
google avatar

Minh L.

Yelp
Make reservations if you want to eat here! As with most of the restaurants around Vancouver, we found that a lot of the highly talked about ones are very busy. We did not and were added to the waitlist and luckily had a seat due to a cancellation. We only wanted to try a few things and they were delicious! The bluefin sashimi was very buttery and melted in our mouths. The uni and foie gras nigiri were both also very buttery and delicious! I would definitely recommend the hako sushi! Overall a great experience!

Yelp
Pretty good sushi. Ordered two different platters Had to wait around 30 minutes to get seated as it was packed. Would recommend coming early to join waitlist. Service was also pretty good and inside the restaurant was pretty clean.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh cuts of sashimi and nigiri. The salmon aburi is very flavorful and meLts in your mouth, Service is friendly and the sushi chefs are skilled. The environment is clean and modern. The prices are very fair for the quality and quantity you get.

Yelp
Mom ordered take out delivered to us. Didn't get to experience the sit-in restaurant. Pros: - Sushi was so fresh with good quality fish - lots of variety to choose from - spicy rolls are my go-to and this place does it really nice with a sauce that isn't too overpowering nor messy - food was packed nicely, nothing tipped over or spilled en route
google avatar

Yelp
A very nice sushi place we stopped by in Davie Village. Waited an hour on the waitlist after walking in on a Sunday evening. IMO it was worth the wait. The tuna was CRAZY melt-in-your-mouth soft. Hamachi had a nice deep flavor to it, while the salmon was really smooth. My favorite however was the amaebi. The body of each was kind of small but super sweet and buttery. The heads were all deep fried and contrasted amazingly well with the rest of the sashimi. While the cuts for the salmon and tuna were very thick, I noticed that the hamachi and the other picks in other sashimi combos were rather thin. My friends got the preset sashimi platters and while they got more sashimi in total, I ended up with more of the pieces I enjoyed. I would definitely go for a similar custom sashimi platter if I came back, maybe replacing the hamachi with more tuna.

Larry K.

Yelp
Was well appointed. Had the feel of a Japanese sushi bar. Took forever to get in. We were there in the early evening. The restaurant is located adjacent to residential neighborhoods. Focus is on serving Uber/Door Dash. Took way more time than should have even after we got in. Sushi was good, not great. For what it was, wouldn't do it again.
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
Small restaurant, clean and nicely decorated. The staff were nice and welcoming. I would suggest either going right when they open or wait for the next hour to head in. They fill up quickly, if you're driving and paid for parking there will be a wait (the biggest downside to Tom). While waiting to be seated, we saw a lot of takeout orders going out. That's definitely a good sign. The food was great! The sashimi looked and tasted fresh. The tempura was crispy and good sized prawn and sweet potato slices. The sweet potato were slightly underdone due to the thickness, only negative part of the meal besides the wait. The pork katsu was also crispy, thick and moist. The vermicelli in the rice was a nice addition and there was a good ratio of egg and sauce with the rice. Overall, will definitely be back when I visit Vancouver!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
By far the best Japanese food we have ever had! We walked in minutes after opening and got the last open table. Ambiance is chill. Everything we had is highly recommended as a must try. - Salmon belly sashimi - wish we got the large - Loin cheese katsu - this plate comes with a extra serving of cabbage salad and rice if you'd like. The salad was so good. - blue fin trio nigiri - I could have ate 2 more plates of this

Yelp
We were on a vacation with six of us and are always on the prowl for great food wherever we go. My son found Tom's Sushi in Vancouver so we headed over and got there before they opened. There was a line already and we were lucky enough to get one of two seatings for larger parties without having to wait. The line and wait just got longer after we were seated. The biggest highlight was my Tonkatsu meal, my wife's Ebi Donburi Bowl and the gyoza. All three of the dishes were solid 5 stars. My wife gave her Ebi Donburi Bowl double 5 stars. My Tonkatsu was dipped in homemade Panko crumbs, fried to a nice crunch, flavorful without the sauce and not oily; 5 stars. My wife loved the crisped up Ebi, the tempura that came on top and the nice flavors with all of the ingredients cooked nicely. The Gyoza was pan fried just right with a nice crisp to the bottom, flavorful pork filling and a nice soothing dipping sauce. The rest of the family had sushi and sashimi. They enjoyed the sashimi more than the sushi rolls. It wasn't the best they have had but that said everything was pretty good, especially the Salmon sashimi. Although the place doesn't have hundreds or thousands of reviews, they will get there over time. Excellent service, fantastic value, generous portions and great food. If you are in Vancouver visiting or live there, Tom's Sushi is and will be a great choice. Don't miss out, Eat Tom's Sushi.

Yelp
100% recommend. We are so glad we stopped by Tom's Sushi on our last day in town. Tom's consistently showed up on multiple lists for top restaurants in Vancouver. I was a little skeptical given the name of the place and exterior, but it did not disappoint. We actually weren't too hungry but needed to kill some time so decided to stop by since we were in the area. It was an off time on a Wednesday so we had no wait. Love that they serve you some hot tea right when you are seated. That was a nice touch. The place setting was also very nice. We opted to go for nigiri. Different that what we're used to where 1 order of nigiri is 2 pieces, at Tom's, it was only 1 piece. We got a wide variety of salmon, salmon belly, eel, saba, toro, chu toro, hamachi, and tamago. The best ones were the chu toro, toro, and hamachi. I've never had such a delicious toro in the states. It was so melty. Amazing really.

Yelp
This place is so good! We came up to Vancouver over christmas SPECIFICALLY to indulge in good Japanese food. Tom sushi did not disappoint! The sushi was really fresh, well-cut, and well-presented. The server was polite and kind, which honestly is all we look for. 100% coming back next time we visit Vancouver!

Yelp
I've had great things about this place so I've always wanted to try! Since I was in downtown in the evening I thought it would be great time for me to finally have a meal at this restaurant. I was thankful that my friend arrived much earlier than me as the wait time for a table was one hour. I was surprised because Google maps showed that it would not be very busy during weekdays. I ordered a combination of nigiris and rolls. I thought the sushi was well presented and sashimi was also so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the nigiris more than the rolls. The salmon nigiri was a good thickness and bite. The uni was so soft and the taste was sweet and flavourful. For the chopped scallop roll I wish they had used bigger scallops. The service was very attentive but a little disruptive for having conversations. I enjoyed the food but I may choose takeout next time to avoid the long wait !

Yelp
They don't take resos online or over the phone, but you can add your name to the wait list if you show up in person. Service was excellent, they filled our teacups so many times. Sushi is affordable and tasty, but definitely not the best sushi in Vancouver, like most of the reviews suggest. Prawn tempura: I recommend ordering this. The batter was nice and crispy. Hako aburi sushi: it had more of a gas taste rather than smoky taste. I recommend sticking to their regular sushi rolls rather than flame-seared. Oyster motoyaki: so disappointing. This dish is usually made with mayo, which is creamy after being baked, but Tom's sushi uses cheese instead. The cheese was dry and didn't compliment the oyster at all.

Yelp
Tom sushi is INCREDIBLE. Such great quality fish at reasonable prices and delicious rolls! We came here twice within 3 days. That's how delicious it was! There will be a wait. Be prepared! Come early or get your name on the list and get a drink somewhere nearby or order takeout. They were cranking out all the takeout orders! The interior is minimalistic and cute. They give you some hot green tea to start (have to ask for water). The nigiri was to die for. Toro and salmon belly were the favs. The uni nigiri was also amazing. I can't remember all the names of the rolls we got but the orange one pictured where we got 2 the next time was hands down the favorite. Could do without the rainbow roll but everything else pictured was phenomenal. I want to come back to Vancouver just to eat at Tom's! Give this place a try. You will be so happy you did! Staff is entirely masked and super kind.

Yelp
i called ahead at 4:00 pm on friday to see what the wait time was for three people as we were approximately 20 minutes away from tom sushi and was told the wait was about 30 minutes and they do not accept reservations. we contemplated going elsewhere but decided to continue with our plan to visit tom sushi. upon arrival, the place was busy, but we were pleasantly surprised that we managed to snag one of two tables left. menus are available through scanning a qr code. the servers were warm and hospitable, often refilling both our green tea and water. we ordered the tray b, which was an assortment of sushi including california, alaska, bc, and dynamite roll along with tuna, salmon, ebi, hokkigai and chopped scallop nigiri. we also ordered the salmon aburi and black cod appetizer. i appreciate how our server pointed out each of the rolls and nigiri when it was presented to our table. you can see the care and attention to detail in the presentation of each dish. everything tasted fresh, tom sushi serves premium sushi at reasonable prices. the venue is small, they do brisk service for takeout and a line quickly formed outside. the decor is simple and clean, unfortunately, they've gotten rid of their sushi bar (we enjoyed sitting at the bar, to see what the sushi chefs were doing, and interact with them...my guess is that it had to do with covid, and social distancing). glad to see that they are doing very well and thriving.
