The food is undeniably tasty, with authentic Thai flavours and reasonable prices that make it a popular choice. However, for those with nut allergies, caution is strongly advised. Despite reminding the staff multiple times during the ordering process and clear labelling on the containers, our Pad Thai came with a generous amount of peanuts, and the salad included cashews. We also experienced a mix-up with our order, receiving Pad Thai beef instead of the Thai beef dish we requested. Communication with the staff was somewhat challenging, which added to the confusion. While the food itself was enjoyable, it was difficult for those with allergies in our group to safely enjoy the meal. If you have any dietary restrictions, I’d recommend double-checking your order thoroughly and considering other options if nut allergies are a concern. Overall, it’s a good spot for authentic Thai food, but clearer communication and greater attention to allergy concerns would make it even better.

Google
Delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices. While the portions are smaller than those at other restaurants, it’s a great excuse to try more dishes. Some items were slightly salty, but overall, I’ll definitely return. Note: This is a cash-only establishment.

Google
Cheap Thai lunch special in Glebe, food are delicious and the portions are just right. Cash only, always keep going back.

Google
Cheap, tasty Thai, been here twice recently, they even do $10 lunch, only cash!, there is always a queue but it moves quickly so don't let it put you off, it's a place to eat and go but you can BYO and enjoy, they don't hurry you along. I just buy a beer or two from the AB hotel 30 metres from there and they also have 2 ATMs. I loved their jungle curry, pad see ewe, stir fry with Thai herbs. They use fresh herbs. Staff are very friendly....almost 15 of them work in evening. This place is a favourite of locals. A meal for two with a long neck from next door can be under $50! Price is not everything but seeing their efficient machine and locals is a delight.

Google
Wow, finally, real Asian food and at Asian prices! Affordable and the servings are big enough for sharing, which we did. Real wokhei flavor from the stir fry. Just remember the following: they only accept cash, prepare to wait especially in the evenings, and they're closed on Tuesdays. Enjoy!

Google
Best value thai food in Sydney period. They do try serving delicious food for the price, check opening hours and cash only.

Google
The green curry was aromatic and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The rice complemented it perfectly. The spring rolls were crispy and delightful. A satisfying Thai meal overall! This curry with tofu and rice is a flavor explosion! Imagine creamy coconut mixed with spicy red curry – it's a perfect combo. The fried tofu adds a satisfying crunch, and the steamed rice just makes everything better.

One of my friend highly recommend this place. They serve delicious food with a reasonable price!!

Yelp
What an incredible find! A small busy restaurant that is cheap and very friendly. The atmosphere is busy, people moving around, the staff rushing to tables or preparing food. I counted 12 staff members. The food is very fresh. It is prepared in a kitchen that you can see. There is only a bench that divides the kitchen from the tables of the restaurant. The openness of the restaurant encourages people to look in and smell the fantastic aromas. The restaurant can get a little warm and flies are attracted to the food. There are no windows to the restaurant, just an open area. The food comes out very quickly but the entrees came out after the mains. The food was very cheap, $10 meals.

Yelp
This is the place you need to get lunch at if you're in Glebe. Authentic recipes. Clean, friendly staff, tons of seating, fast and delicious. You can watch the kitchen make your food and they are super tidy. The lunch special is $8 and includes rice. No bookings, no cards.

Yelp
On my way to see some comedy at the Roxbury Hotel, I decided that I needed some Thai. It's a recurring need that eats at you until you succumb to the fiery devil that is addiction. I staggered through the streets of Glebe in search of my Pad See Ew, desperate for that spicy meal, those chunks of chicken, the vegetables, every ingredient beckoned me and I would have my Thai tonight! I walked past plenty of restaurants, I didn't like the vibe of some, some were suspect. Then I came across Tom Yum Tum Gang, a Thai restaurant full of people, happy satisfied people, laughing and eating, eating and laughing, talking and eating and laughing and smiling. This was the place for me! I whipped inside and made my order, took a seat on the comfortable waiting chairs and sipped upon some water that I had in my bag. The food came and I ate it with some more water, this time, the water supplied by the restaurant. It was a tasty treat, just like I imagined and relatively cheap as well. The ambience is good and the open plan kitchen makes for interesting viewing as I sit and eat my 'lonely man meal'. The plate is clean and I head toward the show. I will be back Tom Yum Tum Gang. I will be back to your unusually normal named Thai place. Thai and stop me.

Yelp
Thank God this place is several steps from my house. Of the thousands (that may NOT be an exaggeration) of Thai restaurants in the city, this is the only one I need. Either for takeout or dining-in, Tom Yum Tum Gang is an authentic Thai eatery, cheap (as I believe Thai cuisine should be) and quick. It is seldom empty during lunch and dinnertime but you can usually find a seat rather quickly. I appreciate this restaurant for its cleanliness, no-frills service, and yumminess. Craving your usual Pad Thai? Ignore that craving because there's so much more to taste. Their menu is extensive, but not overwhelming, and for the price, you should order many dishes and just take home the leftovers. Last time I went, I got the Pad See Ew with beef. It was so good, I ordered a second just to take home and keep in the freezer. I also got the larb, which I originally tried because of the funny name (me being immature), and subsequently developed an addiction to. I'm a big fan of ground meat. The super casual atmosphere, convenience, and quality food keep me coming back.

Yelp
One benefit of hanging out with postgrad students (other than learning impressive words to drop casually into conversations) is their encyclopedic knowledge of cheap eats in any given city. And I was definitely impressed with this place! We shared: - Massaman curry - excellent slow cooked beef in a delicious sauce - Thai beef salad - nice though very spicy - Chicken fried rice - as expected but perfectly fine - Pad see ew with chicken - lovely, and the noodles had that perfectly wok-charred edge. Lovely service too. I would definitely return!

Yelp
This place is a great little spot for a Thai food fix. It's fast service, very attentive and friendly staff are also winners. They have a daily lunch special of $7.50 for all meals (rice included with some dishes), $10 if it's seafood, the servings are massive so you definitely get value for money. Fresh produce is used in all dishes, no frozen goods here, and the veggies are cooked medium so they still have that good crunch and munch quality in them. All meat used are also fresh, no artificial meat extenders used. Recommendations: Pad Thai, Pad si eew, Thai Fried Rice, Panang Curry, Prawn in a Blanket & Crispy chicken wings. The best part: Sticky rice in coconut cream with sliced mango

Yelp
Cheap, but dear, you haven't impressed me. 5 stars 'LONG' reviews from active yelpers did perhaps get me little too excited about this place and unfortunately, besides the sweet $7.50 price deal(lunch time only), taste wise, I would say this place failed to meet my expectations. For that price, sure, I might stop by again to give it a second go when I am around, but honestly, I have tasted far better Thai before and I rather stick with them :-/

Yelp
Great cheap little Thai spot in Glebe. Had an awesome Tom Yum Goong- prawns were super fresh and it was extremely tasty. Staff were friendly, gave me water and service was fast. Wouldn't mind giving other dishes a go if I was in the area.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Love this place! it's the go to Glebe spot for dinner and lunch for me and the better half. As everyone has already covered, the $7.50 lunch special is a steal, and if you get a dish with rice or noodles, you'll be full of stomach and still full of pocket which is rare out here in sweet Sydney... I can't remember the damn name, but my favorite dish is the last one on the noodle section on the back of the menu, Thai Style, it's stupid good and just the right size to fill you up but not make you sick. If a noodle dish isn't what you're after, I'd go with the massaman curry, it's good here too. It's always busy, but don't worry, they'll get you in quickly, and your food will be quick, so don't let the crowd scare you off, it's there for a reason.

Yelp
Arguably the best Thai restaurant in Glebe and the inner west. Super friendly staff and amazingly good Thai food. Right in the center of Glebe with seating inside and out. Whether for large groups or dinner for two you can easily fit but you might need to wait for a take because it can get really busy. Lunch special at $8 is great value. While most likely not traditional Thai, I highly recommend the chicken hokkien noodles with satay sauce.

RumAbum M.

Yelp
This is probably One of the best restaurants in Sydney. Whenever I go out there my 102 year old grandmother goes with me she keeps eating and I swear she's going to explode. She loves the food so much and I do to. 5 star. What are you doing? go eat there!

Yelp
I will give it to Tom Yum Tum Gang- it's got a cool vibe, and a cheap lunch special. But I cannot for the life of me figure out why this place is so packed every second of every day, since the food ain't that great. On my first trip, I got a tofu, egg and pumpkin dish which came out in literally thirty seconds. Slimy, gross and totally inedible. The only reason I didn't complain was because I was only paying $7.50 and the staff was so sweet and friendly that I didn't want to hurt their feelings. Thinking I MUST be missing something since it's always so busy, I returned with BF in tow and ordered a standard pad thai. Worst pad thai, hands down, that I've ever had. No colour, no flavor whatsoever, barely any peanuts. The taro-wrapped prawn we ordered as an entree was also a disaster. BF's penang curry was pretty good, though. No excuse for bad Thai in this town. Walk up the road to Deli's instead. Their lunch is only $7!

Yelp
There's always a crowd for a good reason... This place is amazing, some of the best (if not the best) Thai I've had in ages. Thank my lucky stars because I work a block down so I get to take advantage of the $8 lunch special. Only 4 stars sadly because they seem to have changed their curry in the past two months-- it used to be so creamy and delicious but now it's watery (still flavorful and good if you prefer a soupier consistency). Very nice service as well!

Yelp
Good food, quick service with nice price. Lunch special is 8.5 dollars for almost all meal.

Yelp
This place is the best! Quick, friendly service, cheap food (and even cheaper $8 lunch specials), plus BYO. Busy between 6-8pm, but understandably. Perfect for a no frills, delicious dinner with friends on any night of the week or for a fast, no fuss takeaway meal. Have never been disappointed

Yelp
This hidden gem for Thai in Glebe is really superb.. Ordered a vast variety of food here and nothing has disappointed us. so far. Massaman Beef, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Tom Yum Goong, Mince pork rice. Massaman Beef is a bit disappointing. The rest is quite good especially the Pad Kee Mao and their Tom Yum Goong.

Yelp
Great food, great service, good prices. Often not open on holidays because they mainly employ students but who can complain about that?

Yelp
Went here yesterday for lunch with my boys, great customer service, great food. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Thai food.

Yelp
If you are looking for quality Thai food at a great price, this is the place to go. We constantly use this place for the family - you will not be disappointed. We've tried many dishes and are yet to experience a bad one. The staff are warm and friendly, and the service is efficient. We generally do take away but have dined in once. Space is limited so be patient. The decor is not anything special, but you're in their for the food and the conversation of your friends or partner. You won't get better value for the quality - at least $5-6 cheaper than what you would pay in Paddington and the food is actually better.

Yelp
The food was alright but we didn't enjoy the meal at all! The service is absolutely awful. One of the staffs who took order didn't place our order correctly and She didn't repeat our order to us. When we requested to replace the dish, she not only argued with us but also said if we didn't want the wrong dish she had to pay for it on her own! It's so ridiculous!!!! We finally ordered extra food as we felt so sorry for her. We will definitely not coming back again!

Yelp
This friendly local Thai restaurant has many fans in the neighborhood, probably for many of the reasons I am not. My issues with Tom Yum is two fold: I like my Thai super spicy and I like it varied. Maybe it's my fault; at other Thai restaurants I do usually have to warn them that I like spice and "can you please make it for me like you would a Thai person." Basically, you have to plead with some people to let them know that just because you are white doesn't mean you can't handle heat. Still, the food here is super bland. I wish they served food that was at least 1/2 as spicy as the food you get in Thailand. Second, every dish kind of tastes the same. I've ordered the cashew nut, the ginger, the basil, everything. I swear it's the same sauce with slightly different vegetable mixes and different meats. Last but not least, my eggplant was overcooked. And it wasn't even Thai eggplant. Sure this place is always tempting because its CHEAP and super close to my house but I try and avoid it nonetheless.

Yelp
Go for the lunch special 11-5 pm everything is $7.50 , mostly. Like most places I want more food on my plate but the Crying Tiger BBQ was tangy delicious.
google avatar

Carlos G.

Yelp
No one can beat these guys when it comes to value for money. Very solid all round menu, nothing will knock you off your feet but for you will eat the best Thai $10 can buy.
google avatar

Beth J.

Yelp
Ordered some take away after having read great reviews. Went for a couple of classics; chilli basil chicken and red duck curry. Possibly the worst Thai I've ever had. Watered down sauces and stingy servings - you're better off going to the $5 Thai around the corner!

Susan S.

Yelp
Good lunch special. They don't skimp on the shrimp either, which I appreciate very much. Friendly enough, quick and easy place for a bite

Yelp
Was recently staying in Glebe visiting a friend for 5 days and we went here 3 times for the $7.50 lunch. Tried a noodle dish, a stir fry and a curry - all delicious and very fresh. Highly recommended!

Nicholas M.

Yelp
We were in the area so picked this place off the back of good reviews. The place is fine, food average at best, service no problems. It is also cheap, about $10 lunch. Overall I was disappointed, life is too short to eat average food. I guess I can't complain too much for $10 but I'd rather pay a bit more and eat something better.

Cher H.

Yelp
I ate at this place twice during my visit to Sydney. Great pad see ew for the price ($8 lunch special!) I do wish that there were more veggies and that it was more flavorful, but all in all, a really good deal

Susanne D.

Yelp
Excellent Thai food in Glebe. It looks crowded, but they seem to be able to fit you in. Very friendly staff and we could watch our food being made. Very reasonable.

Amanda S.

Yelp
This restaurant is arguably the best Thai place in the Inner West region of Sydney. The food is fresh, delicious, and cheap! I've eaten here dozens of times, and have therefore tried almost everything on the menu, and it's all good. The stir-fries are excellent; the noodles are always perfectly cooked; the curries are good; and the vegetables are always incredibly fresh. (Tip: you can order extra veggies in your dinner if you want to, for a small fee. That's not advertised on the menu, but I like a lot of veggies, so I often do this.) They have vegetarian options as well as seafood and meat options. It's not fancy--the tables are plastic and the place is noisy and crowded--but it's always full of people, because the food really is that good. They don't accept credit cards, so have cash ready. It's BYO, so if you want wine, there's a mediocre bottle shop next door, or two much better bottle shops just a block or two further up Glebe Point Road (The Little Bottle Shop of Glebe and the Toxteth Hotel Bottle Shop.)

Jane H.

Yelp
Cheap, fast and tasty. I'm sure there are better Thai places in Sydney but probably not in this price category. It is always busy and get takeaway of having a queue of people through the restaurant bothers you.

Kathy P.

Yelp
I went here when it first opened and was not impressed by the food, I recently went back and am still of the opinion that this is not great. There are better options down the road....
