🌞 We had such a great experience this morning at Tomahawk Restaurant! The cozy and traditional vibe of the place truly captures the spirit of classic Canadian diners. 🍳 The breakfast was absolutely delicious and very filling — especially the bacon, eggs, and perfectly cooked hash browns. The coffee was always hot and constantly refilled, which we loved. 👩‍🍳 The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, especially Pearl, our server. She was so cheerful, patient, and professional — she made our morning even better! 🏕️ The decor is super unique, with a strong Indigenous and old-school Canadian theme. Fun fact: Tomahawk has been in the same location for over 100 years, making it one of the oldest and most iconic restaurants in the area! 🍽️ One important thing to note — each portion is huge and definitely enough for two people! Perfect if you want to share and still leave feeling full and satisfied. ⭐️ If you’re looking for a hearty, tasty breakfast in a special and historic atmosphere, you should definitely check out Tomahawk. We were so happy with everything and will absolutely be back! 🙌

We waited nearly an hour for a table of six, and it was totally worth it. The vibe is cozy, quirky, and rich with local character—wood carvings, vintage decor, and those iconic Canadian map placemats create a unique, nostalgic atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. The food? Massive portions, bold flavors, pure comfort. We had the bacon breakfast, pancakes, and the meatloaf dinner—every dish hit the mark. The steak and mushroom pie lived up to the Food Network hype, too. Service was quick and friendly despite the packed house. Prices are fair for the quality and size. If you want a real-deal local diner experience with soul, Tomahawk delivers. Absolutely five stars.

The food was excellent! I ordered their Triple D famous Steak and Mushroom pie and it was absolutely delicious, with tender steak and flaky pie crust. Although they can certainly cook, the experience was lacking. I had a really dirty fork set on my table, their fridge seems to be busted since my friends root beer float came out at room temperature, and there's a musty smell in the place (although that could be the decor). It's a classic spot with good food, but they need to give the space some TLC to stay afloat in my opinion.

While visiting Vancouver I wanted to visit the world famous "Tomahawk Restaurant". We went for breakfast and we had a fantastic breakfast. I had the West coast Benedict and my partner had a veggie omelette. The salmon used for my eggs benny was full of flavor with just the right amount of hollandaise that didn't override the salmon and dill. The veggie omelette my partner had was great. What took it to the next level were the sautéed vegetables first, then used in the omelette. I liked how we were provided new cups of coffee for refills. The servers were genuine and on the spot. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting with an eclectic environment. However the wood carvings and artwork will be what I remember. There's many reasons this restaurant has made multiple TV shows!!!

This diner is Vancouver’s oldest family run restaurant! An absolute institution in the North Shore. I’ve only been for breakfast so far, but I’ll be back to try dinner as well. The service is fast and friendly and the food is decently priced and delicious. On the weekends it’s usually packed, but the wait isn’t too long. One of our go to spots when we’d like a hearty breakfast.

A Hidden Gem with Amazing Pie! Today, I had one of the best pieces of pie I’ve ever had, and I'm not even a huge fan of sweets or pies! I happened to be in the area and came to this charming, family-run restaurant after many years, and I’m so glad I did. I decided to take out for my daughters two pieces of pie: the banana cream topped with real whipped cream and the apple crumble. Both were absolutely incredible! The banana cream pie was rich and creamy, with a perfect balance of sweetness and real banana pieces and the apple crumble had the perfect texture, with a lovely oatmeal crust and perfectly spiced apples. The ingredients were clearly fresh and high-quality—definitely a treat for the taste buds. I was greeted by the owner and I asked them questions telling him I have not been there for years. He told me their pies were made in the house and I asked him about their dinner items and he told me they’re stripling steak is local and aged 35 days. Looking forward to trying The restaurant itself has such a quaint, cozy atmosphere, showcasing indigenous art and collectables. making it a perfect spot for a wonderful brunch and a treat for the kids. Aside from the amazing pies, they also offer a selection of local artisan hot sauces and jars of unique condiments for sale, which is a great touch. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

This is a classic diner with top notch service, food and atmosphere. Well kept and worth a visit, this place will keep you coming back with great food, service, and overall experience. It's a gem in North Vancouver and worth driving out to visit, it's a unique experience and you won't find it elsewhere!

Google
This place is still hanging in there year after year and gets worse and worse every single year, yet I go for the nostalgia and to peep the racist paper placemats. Been there, ate that & bought the ringer tee and hat. Still order the Skookum Chief Burger, tolerate the shitty service and admire the fact that the male ponytail and tie still survive in North Van. There is a place for places like this alongside the El Camino & Ranchero. A dude palace that has grown very long in the tooth but I cannot look away.

Yelp
Finally tried the buttermilk pancakes for myself and they did not disappoint! Grandma and my daughter both ordered the Chuck Wagon which comes with 2 pancakes, eggs, and back bacon. I just had a side order of 2 buttermilk pancakes cuz I knew that my daughter wouldn't want to eat her eggs, so I would end up eating the eggs for her. Also...finally got around to trying their pie this time! Bought 2 slices of Lemon Meringue pie to bring home for an afternoon snack. Whoa...the meringue is sooo high! They left the box lids open cuz the meringue is really way too tall to be able to close the box. This pie was sooo good. Some of the best Lemon Meringue pie that I've ever had. Reminiscent of the Lemon Meringue pie that we used to get many many years ago from Saskatchewan Pavilion Restaurant that used to be at Park Royal Shopping Centre. Somewhat taken aback to look at my bill and realize that they charged me $2.25 for a hot water and lemon. Should have seen that sooner. My bad for not checking the bill sooner. Don't know there's anything much I could have done about it if I had seen it sooner. I think it's quite ridiculous though. I do see hot water with honey and lemon on their menu for $2.25 but I never asked for honey. I just asked for hot water with lemon. If I'd known they were gonna charge me for that, I'd have stuck with bottled water they put on our table for free. Still love this place regardless of the $2.25 charge for hot water and lemon. Will make sure not to order that again next time. I was ever so sad to hear recently that Tomahawk restaurant is for sale. This place has been a favorite of ours for a number of years now. There have been a lot of restaurant closures in the last few years but this one really hits me hard cuz of the sentimental attachment to it. Guess I'll just pray that it takes a long long time for anyone to buy it!

Yelp
Gosh... I'm sad food was not good.. turkey dinner... where do I start dressing was sour, maybe on the verge of going bad , turkey wasn't roasted, yams bland , cranberries super sour .... Love the interior , maybe should of had pie and coffee and jetted..

Yelp
I hadn't been here in at least 7 years. What an improvement! Better and tastier food. We dined in for lunch & shared the Organic Turkey Clubhouse and organic Simon Baker burger with fries. Food: 5/5 - fantastic prices considering you're getting organic beef and turkey. They even offer a couple of lunch specials ranging from $15 to $20. They also offer dinner specials at $35 on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. If you like burgers, this is a must order. Food came out hot and was fresh. Good selection of breakfast and lunch items. Service: 5/5 - friendly server who came to our table a few times asking if we needed anything Ambiance: 5/5 - great ambiance. You feel like you're in a museum of beautiful Indigenous art & baskets. Nice vibe to the place. Lots of history here. Parking: 5/5 - parking in front of the building or on the street We'll be back for the dinner! Note: they are closed on Mondays. Hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: 9 am to 8 pm and Tues and Wednesday: 9 am - 4 pm.

Yelp
Yes! Craving a Tomahawk burger to day while on the North Shore. Chief Simon Baker burger arrives fresh and sizzling with piping hot fries! Fresh mushrooms peeking out from the bun...can not wait to devour this wonder. Slow flow Heinz ketchup for the crispy fries. Serving local, organic food. Pure beef patty. Yes! A nostalgic visit to a local landmark. Classic burger and fries on a wet west coast afternoon. Located on Philip Avenue, just south of Marine Drive. Lots of parking.

Yelp
There were three of us all unrelated. We ordered an omlette split, pancakes, and side of Sausage. All was terrible, even the coffee. We paid the five dollar split fee for the omlette and I prefer restaurants do this. But then at least split the dish and serve it properly don't just throw an extra plate at me and and a $5 charge. This place used to be good. Avoid!
google avatar

Maralayzza J.

Yelp
Food is good but I was disappointed , there was the $5 dollar sharing plate fee . This may de a deal breaker to come back .

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts on the North Shore still. Unfortunately the Yukon has gotten smaller and smaller with less meat. I'd rather pay more and get the same qty as they used to give that Canadian Back Bacon is the best. Still amazing value.

Yelp
This is the best breakfast in North Vancouver . An institution and requirement for any visit. Long live the Yukon breakfast!

Yelp
Been here before once and decided to have brunch here after a hike in North Vancouver. Name of restaurant has barbecue on the end but didn't see any BBQ items on the menu. They are known for their "All Day" breakfast items and their food selection is geared towards more of a diner. I ordered the Benny's Classic made with their famous Yukon Bacon and my date had the Vegetarian Omelette. The portions were big but really nothing special. Our meals were served with diced hash browns and not your traditional pancake style ones that I had last time which I found tasted bland. The water they served with mint in a self serve bottle was nice and refreshing. We had two waitresses come by and checked on us with one just getting off her shift and made sure everything was ok. Signage shows the restaurant was established in 1926. Ambiance of the place had a First Nations theme with an assortment of totem poles and arts & crafts which you can purchase at the front of the restaurant. Once you enter the restaurant you are greeted with a cute little pond filled with an assortment of rubber duckies. Free parking is available to it's patrons in a large parking lot beside the restaurant.

Yelp
Just there last Thursday had a beef dip it was the best. I've had a lot of beef dips around Vancouver but you can't beat this one fresh and delicious I'll be Back

Yelp
This is a good place for brunch as they have big portions and the food is good. I had their Yukon style bacon and eggs dish. There was really a generous amount of hash brown under those bacons, egg and toasts. I finished it but my stomach was telling me that I shouldn't have as I was so sluggish after. The service is good and the waitress was very outgoing however we did have to wait for our drinks to arrive and water too.

Yelp
A big hit and miss when it comes to the food here so exercise caution. I got the Steak and Mushroom Pie, mom got the Traditional Meat Loaf and dad got the Beef Dip Sandwich. First thing I noticed for my meal before ordering was that it came with mash potatoes so I was going to ask my server if instead of mash potatoes I could have extra veggies. Well I got as far as "..and could I sub out" and was immediately cut off and sternly told they don't allow any subs of any kind and do I still want mash potatoes or not. A little mad at her tone and upset she wouldn't even let me finish asking my question I told her just to leave the mashed potatoes off. Food came and I was missing my garlic bread as well. As for the food, the steak and mushroom pie was quite good. The pie top was flaky but extremely dry so it didn't really work if you tried to cut straight down and get a clean piece of the pie top plus a steak chunk in gravy. Your best bet would be to chop out up the top and give it a quick mix in the gravy first. The steak was cooked perfect but I was expecting a little more meat to be honest. The mushroom chunks were just about the same size as the chicken so when it's about 50/50 there wasn't all that much meat. The seasonal veggies were also a let down. I think it was just various kinds of squash and potato chunks so not any kind of variety. They were also covered in a seasoning that lessened the flavor and made them off putting after a few bites so I didn't eat much of those. The highlight of the meal was mom's meat loaf though. I don't have meat loaf often but this was incredibly good! It was moist and had a little more sautéed onions mixed in than I'm used to(which I loved) because it gave a little extra texture to each bite. And the tomato sauce on top was also delicious! But mom also had the same reservations about the seasoning on the veggies and she didn't eat much of hers either. Even if a restaurant doesn't allow substitutions, the least your server could do is let you finish asking before explaining they wouldn't be able to accommodate your request rather than rudely cutting you off. The steak and mushroom pie was good but nothing that blew my mind. The meatloaf was the winner of the night though and although I wouldn't eat here again, if you're thinking about eating here, I would suggest getting the meat loaf. I was going to say you might be better off asking if your seasonal veggies can come without that seasoning but I honestly don't know if they would allow that given my negative experience with this waiter.

Yelp
I was looking for something to order via Door Dash for breakfast and found that they offered Tomahawk Barbeque. After hearing a lot about the place, some good and some bad I wanted to give them a try. I ordered the klondike breakfast and could not have been more disappointed. It was bland, so very, very bland. The scrambled eggs were food, but overall flavourless and the bacon generic. It was not entirely awful, but for all the hype it was just so bland and I could have made something much better at home. Disapointed.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to having lunch with my Aunties here! I remember this place being much better than it is now... The service was poor, I realise it was lunch hour but we waited 40 minutes for food and the server forgot a few things. The meal was decent but I probably won't head back anytime soon. Sad, because it's an institution in North Van.

Yelp
I understand Covid, I understand being shortstaffed. And I usually have lots and lots of patience during these times I do however have a problem when a server totally forgets your table and brings coffee and service to everyone else. Waited 1.5 hours, finally left because it was apparent that I was not being looked after. When Covid it is over it is worth coming back to the tomahawk,, before then most likely not. I am sorry to leave this negative posting, however management needs to be in better control of their services Yes even during Covid times times

Yelp
Heard a lot of good things about this place. It's been around forever and is pretty much an institution. Parking is available beside the building. The theme seems to be First Nations, with the totem poles outside and the rustic interior. The inside is a bit quirky and looks almost like a museum, with all the figurines. I especially liked the back wall with the paddles and sculptures. The place does feel quite dated (say 1960s), but I assume that's intentional. Staff were friendly. The place has a nice cozy feel. Even though the place is listed as a barbecue, the food selection is more like a diner. I had the organic roast beef dinner. Nice moist slabs of meat with plenty of gravy and potatoes. Delicious and filling. The other reviews seem to be hit and miss, but this place really is just an old fashioned diner serving low key comfort food. Nothing wrong with that.

Yelp
Went for breakfast on Sunday. I ordered poached eggs and dry toast. I was delivered easy over with buttered toast. My friend got one coffee and Never asked again if she wanted more. Maybe the Host should have been going around and topping up coffee??? The positive was that I received my new correct order quite quickly! The food was good...we got home fries and for some reason my friend got wedge fries with her breakfast. I think weekends are just so busy they can't keep up!!!
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
I find the food ok. Nothing too special. One time I went with my sister and another friend. My sister and I shared the steak which was huge. The plate was huge as well. However, food here is not cheap for the location and decor and the kind of service you get. But again I managed to share the steak with my sister and we were both full at the end of the day. So its not too bad. The place was not busy for some reason at around 8pm. The table paper in front of us was interesting. It was a map. Decor wise was ok. Its definitely has that feel of the old house. Washroom is a bit ghetto. There are parking outside for free. Not bad. The last time we came here was about a year ago. This is one of the few restaurants I know that server first nation food.
google avatar

Yelp
If you have ever looked up or chased Guy Fieri and DDD this is on the list. I have been to a few over the years and it's usually 50/50 to me on the quality of the place and the food.. Tomahawk was personal and Friendly from the moment you walked in the door. Seating you and the inside dynamic is amazing. But the food and staff kill it ... the food was so delicious and the personal attention is very family like... see the pics... the desserts were a great ending to the meal. Make it a stop. I will be back. I love family diners. This is one of the best.

Yelp
BACON. Must eat Canadian Bacon in Canada Do you ever make a list of things you want to do when in a new city? I do. That was one of them. YUKON BREAKFAST That is the first thing listed on the menu so that's what I ordered. The 6 slices of Yukon bacon are thinly sliced maple smoked round strips of (Canadian) bacon, and they cook this very well. Yummmm. It wasn't crispy like American bacon, but more like a thick prosciutto, fried. It was a great addition to the eggs, hashbrown and thick cut toast/bread. I don't know why our "Canadian bacon" in the US looks more like round ham, because our version looks nothing like this. EGGS BENEDICT So this dish was also very good but my husband had to steal some of my bacon because he said he wanted to taste the bacon flavor without the sauce. Grrr. Get your own bacon. PANCAKES This was also a hit with the kids, but you can get pancakes anywhere. Get the bacon. NO RESERVATIONS We got to the restaurant at 8am when they opened so it wasn't crowded, but I've heard that later in the day the wait can get quite long, in part due to the exposure they got on triple D. LOCATION No visible sign from the road. If you are on Marine Drive, turn south on Phillip and it will be on your left, behind the Mercedes dealership. We drove past it three times before finding it. Look for the white totem poles that look like they are in front of a house. That's the entrance. The kids said one of the totem poles looks like it's saying "put your seatbelt on". There is a lot of unique aboriginal art to see here, so it's a cool place unlike anything we have back home. Thanks to fellow Hawaii yelper Dean H. for recommending this place! If you're in the area, go check out this place that is the oldest family-run eatery in Canada, serving people since 1926.
google avatar

Dean H.

Yelp
OK, if you don't know where this place is you might just miss it. Make sure your MAP on your smart phone is great, keep an eye open for some totem poles in the front and find some parking either in the back or right up front cause this place is the BUSINESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Ok, first of all, the brewed coffee there is just great. I drink a lot of coffee and usually I am NOT impressed at ANY breakfast. This one is a MUST drink! Next, the BACON, ahhh yes, I said BACON. Thy have this yukon bacon that is like a cross between canadian bacon and sliced bacon and you know what....dang it is good stuff. The flavor, how they cook it a little crispy, and the texture is JUST right. Did I also say that our waitress was very helpful and super kind. I wish I had gotten her name to mention it here. She was informative about the menu, refilled my coffee, and also gave us the skinny on how to order. She was something else. Then, comes the pancakes and the rest of the breakfast. It was all just good stuff. Seems like lots of locals go here for some good grub at reasonable prices and I have agree. If you are ever in Vancouver you need to drive across the bridge for this place. You won't be disappointed. Go get some of the YUKON bacon goodness y'all!
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
This was a restaurant I frequented when I worked next door and we would sometimes eat breakfast and lunch there and on occasion dinner as well if we worked overtime. It has been a while since I ate here but it was almost like I never left. Parking is better but the decor is still the same and the food was just as I remembered it. Yukon breakfast is a generous helping for those good appetites and the mixed grill for those who can eat! The menus look to be the same and I remember the burgers to be awesome. Great home cook meals without being at home and having to do the work.
google avatar

Yelp
Mediocre food you can get literally anywhere else without the drive and shitty service. It's like a Sophie's Cosmic Cafe for the north shore - for tourists and people who just don't know any better. I have no idea how this restaurant has stayed in business this long.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
This place has seen better days. It's best days are behind it and it seems no one cares and they're willing to ride on their former name. No host or hostess came to greet us, so we waited at the front with no indication of what we should do. For a smaller restaurant they had more than enough people working but no one knew whose job was whose. A small not so complicated diner menu, but after placing our orders we waited over an hour for food. Service was terrible from the start, waiting 15min to even take our orders and forgetting to provide someone's drink and having to re-ask what they ordered. Food wasn't even that great after waiting an hour, for the price there's much better options in the area. Don't get caught up by the fact they were once on Diners Drive-in's and Dives, it's been a long time since anywhere cared about service or food at this restaurant.

Yelp
2.6 Stars There is a free parking lot for this restaurant. First impressions, there is a patio out front with some seating, as soon as you walk in it's like a small corner store. The dining area resembles an old school diner, wit a long bar with seating. We walked in around 1pm on a Saturday, and got a table for 3 right away . Ordered: The Clubhouse - i found the portion sizes quite small here. The turkey meat in the sandwich was on the dry side. The fries were good. Service was good, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Got waters right away. The server checked on us. We saw this place on "Triple D's" and decided to give it a try. However I didn't try a dish that was featured on the episode, so maybe that was a mistake on my behalf. My friend got the beef dip and enjoyed it, but again, it was pretty small. If i am in the area again i would give it a second chance, but i wouldn't drive out to North Van just for this place. Overall Experience: Service - 9/10 Cleanliness - 8/10 Food - 6.5/10 Value - 6.7/10 Parking - 10/10

Yelp
Definitely a hard to find place but if you are lucky enough to get there you won't be disappointed. Had the classic eggs Benny was so great. Staff was friendly courteous breakfast came out very quickly after ordering. COVID protocols are in place so have your vaccine passport and ID ready. Definitely now on my go to places to go when I am on the lower mainland

Yelp
Great food and friendly, quick service. The building was a bit non-descript, but I think it was just because we drove up on the back rather than the front of the building rather than the back. In all, it was a great breakfast. Nothing extraordinary, but we were looking for just a basic, good pancake breakfast.

Yelp
I like the aesthetics of the place. It's got some cool masks on the highest shelf! Also loving the 1970's-esque washroom and gift shop with Junior Mints haha. I ordered the Yukon Style Bacon and Eggs (14.45). I found the bacon to be very meaty but super greasy and was more akin to back bacon than the strips I was hoping for, oh wells! They were surprisingly lean though. The hash browns were cubed and had a nice crunchiness to them. They have a house brand hot sauce to go with your eggs and meats if you'd like, but I'd avoid it. I found it to be super hot, but also super salty for some reason! Service was pretty decent though!

Yelp
Went for breakfast with friends from away, seemed loud and crowded for saturday morning, orders got mixed-up... The first nation art & carvings were a tourist draw but didnt seem that impressive, better galleries around to see art for free. Menu was limited and seemed overpriced. I heard it said "been here once dont have to come back"
google avatar

Yelp
I've heard this is a place I must visit. I think I was suppose to order breakfast but instead I ordered a burger. The Jack something Burger. It was good. Nothin to write home about. The restaurant has been around for like 100 years or so, and it was really like stepping back in time. I loved the tiny restaurant and especially the counter where we ate. Was old school for sure. I dunno. I might go back, I might not. I should've given the breakfast menu a closer look.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was a let-down. Large portions of poor cooked food is still poorly cooked food. Not worth the kitch. Pass on by, but do not recommend you stop.

Yelp
* Ripoff * The dictionary defines "ripoff" as: "1. A product or service that is overpriced or of poor quality. 2. Something, such as a film or story, that is clearly imitative of or based on something else. 3. A theft. 4. An act of exploitation." My reaction to eating here was all of the above (and yes, I ripped off that definition from the dictionary). Now ripping off from Tomahawk's history: "The original Tomahawk owner, Chick Chamberlain, began collecting interesting hand-crafted artefacts from the Indians themselves about 80 years ago..." So the place is filled with First Nation products like weavings, carvings, etc. And some pretty bad stereotyping to boot like pictures of paper feather hats for kids. To get a feel, just look here: http://www.tomahawkrestaurant.com/memories.html The placemat on the table has cartoon drawings that look like they are straight out of the 1950's which reinforce a ton of stereotypes while attempting to be cutesy. I ordered the signature burger, the "Skookum Chief Burger" which was described as onions, lettuce, organic ground beef patty, Yukon bacon, egg, aged cheddar cheese, wiener, tomato, and Tomahawk special sauce. It was priced at $12.45, if I remember correctly. (I tried to check their website, where they conveniently leave all prices off the menu - hah!). The plate arrived with underdone fries and a few wilty veggies on the side. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/ThXa_yrZagsACaj-GKpt0w?select=ZtYNVrzUK3qmOqXrZ9mN6Q The burger itself had a nice bun. That was probably the best part though sadly. There was a mound of shredded lettuce that was bordering on absurd amounts. The tomato was severely under-ripened and had no flavour. The fried egg was extremely overcooked with a VERY hard yolk. The yukon bacon was ok, but could have been slightly less cooked. The wiener was commercial tasting and not grilled off properly. The cheese flavour got lost. The special sauce was a mayo based sauce with a primarily mayo flavour. And the supposed star of the burger - the organic beef - was awful. It was a very thin mealy, crumbly, overcooked, and underseasoned patty. Blech. Photos: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/ThXa_yrZagsACaj-GKpt0w?select=kXUTLzyNxJrke9MyTJovHg and http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/ThXa_yrZagsACaj-GKpt0w?select=hHstOJM-0d19_eqqDI2Naw Yes, a $12.45 ripoff. To top things off, when paying at the register the guy tried to shortchange me by $10. I understand people sometimes make mistakes. But when I called him on it he immediately said, "Oh, sorry." and gave me a $10 bill without thinking about it - as if he was thinking, "I tried. You caught me. Oh well." Blech. Will I go back? I think not!

Totally over-hyped. Decorations were good, the paper liner mat is interesting and the burger toppings are unique, but that's where the good things stop. The burger patty was so small compared to the toppings that you can hardly taste it. Probably because it was thin and not juicy at all, you can't taste the meat itself. While the toppings are unique, not sure if it enhances the taste of the burger. Since the restaurant is so popular and busy, they really should serve the ice water in a bigger container than a double shot glass. Meh.

Yelp
I heard of this place after it was featured on Triple D's but didn't know this place was already well known in this area for a good few years. Came and tried their beef dip which Guy Fieri featured and he wasn't lying. This dish was melt in your mouth good! The rest of the food was really good too; the restaurant has a very family feel to it. The service was quick and our overall experience was awesome. I would definitely come back - been here a few times. Here's my Vlog about Tomahawk Restaurant https://youtu.be/aocnqVLL2D0

Yelp
We came to Tomahawk Barbecue because we had heard a lot of good things about it. It is indeed somewhat difficult to find, mostly because, outside of a small sign outside the front door, there's nothing to identify the building as being a well known restaurant. On the inside, the tribute to Canadian First Nations culture is immediately obvious. In fact, it's so obvious it's borderline over the top. As we sat at our table, we found the placemat to be a distorted map of North America annotated with various amusing comments about different cities and regions. We ordered a spicy Thai chicken soup to start, and for my entree I ordered the special: roast beef, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. When I asked the waitress how the Yorkshire pudding was made, she had to go back to the chef and ask before she came back and reported that it was a batter baked at 400 degrees until it resembled a muffin. That didn't sound that interesting to me, so I decided to get the vegetables instead. The roast beef was very tender and juicy, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. There was one problem; I spread the butter on the vegetables, only to find an unpleasant surprise; what I thought was butter was really horseradish! Looked exactly like butter to me. For dessert I got a piece of cherry pie, accompanied by one of their locally bottled black cherry sodas. Made for an interesting and excellent combination. Overall I enjoyed my meal here and would be delighted to come back again the next time we're in Vancouver.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been here. The first was about 10 years ago. I wasn't a big fan of the food but the husband suggest we go there again this afternoon. He had breakfast and I had a turkey sandwich. The description states...Slices of fresh roasted organic turkey. Great I though it's my favourite sandwich. Well it came out after about about a 45 minute wait (the restaurant wasn't busy). I ate the first half and started to eat the second half and noticed it was extremely cold. Opened up the sandwich to have a look and what do you know... the turkey was frozen. Not just cold but frozen. The pieces were stuck together. Not sure how fresh it can be when it is put in a freezer. This was not ok. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress she just took the plate and said oh. No apology no follow up. Thankfully it didn't end up on our bill. On the service... we ordered drinks and about 10 minutes later she came back to confirm we ordered a coffee and orange juice... nope water and coffee. Then after we ordered our food she came back 1/2 hour later to ask what we ordered again. Food came about 15 minutes after that. Anyway, this will be the last time that i eat there and will not recommend it to others.

Yelp
...perhaps the BBQ is great...the eggs Benedict are terrible...small, barely heated, cubed potatoes paired with weakly yellow yolks drowning in flaccid hollandaise glop...the dining room is gloomy...try The Lift on Lonsdale...superbly bright and cheerful with the bomb of eggs Benedict.............

Yelp
Before doing our tourist expedition to the Capilano Bridge, we needed to eat! We were recommended this place for their great breakfast and short drive from the Capilano Bridge. So we were off... We get there I think around 10am and the place was pretty busy. We had to wait about ten minutes before we were seated. I guess this place is famous for their Yukon bacon so I had to go with that. My friend and I end up ordering the Campfire (the smaller version of the Yukon Bacon and Eggs) and my two other friends order the Tomahawk Traditional. I also ordered the Cranberry juice which apparently is freshly delivered to the restaurant every morning. I had to try this out... never had that before. When we got our food, our eyes glistened as we were about to tear up some food! Everything looked so good. The Yukon bacon looked different from what I was accustomed to. It was a circular slice of bacon.... not the long rectangular strip I'm used to looking at. Either way, it smelled great and I took a bite into that first. Delicious! Perfect texture where it's wasn't too crunchy or too soft and with a hint of sweetness too. I then had the hash browns which were probably the best hash browns I have ever had. Cut into small cubes, these hash browns were crunchy and flavorful... no oily taste either! I then take a sip of my cranberry juice... Whoa that's GOOOOOOD! That's cranberry juice?!? This time I take a gulp! The juice tasted and smelled so fresh. It was real thick and pulpy too... the way I like it. What's crazy too is that it didn't have that strong, almost bitter taste like all cranberry juices have out there. I wish I had a glass right now. Since Canada is also known for their syrup, I had to take one of my friend's pancakes and syrup in return for hash browns and toast. It was worth the trade because I swear the pancakes with the syrup were off the hook too! Probably not the best pancake I've had but definitely the best syrup I've had. The syrup was light with just the right amount of sweetness. It didn't overpower the taste of the pancake but complemented it very well. If I were to come to Vancouver again, I would make sure to drop by and have breakfast here. Not only did my friends and I have the best breakfast ever but we were able to meet the owner of Tomahawk, Chuck. He was a very nice guy. He was the one to ring up our bill and also made the time to talk to us a bit at the register. Our waitress also was really friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Great service.

Yelp
A fantastic find! Been watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and thought it would be fun to check out some of the places Guy recommends. Let's just say he recommends them for a reason. Good ol' home style cooking here. It's the oldest restaurant in Vancouver which is interesting in itself. It's a great change from all the commercial establishments around town these days. This spot has heart and you can taste it in the gravy! The garlic bread alone was addictive and my guy claims it's the best beef dip sandwich he's ever had, and he's had more than his fair share. We'll certainly be back! Take note though, it was on triple D for a reason, no white linen cloths and modern renovations in this place, just a large helping of tasty, hearty food.

Yelp
OMG..... High prices, for food from the freezer and/or a can. Word of warning. Be near a toilet within 30 minutes of eating, or you'll need to buy new clothes like me. Shitty, in more ways than one. Eggs florentine indeed.

Yelp
Dine-in excellent. Everyone wearing masks. Server washing hands constantly. Everything sparkling clean. And great steak and eggs, too!

Yelp
Solid, solid food. I don't go to North Van often, but when I do, this is the place I want to go to! They have a great selection of famous for a reason burgers, and they even offer all day breakfast. The inside is intimate and decorated in a fun, kitschy way. The service has always been average to above average and I've never walked out of here hungry or disappointed. The portions are BIG! The Tomahawk is my little tradition every time we visit Grouse Mountain or Capilano Bridge.

Yelp
Big hype. Big meh. My wife and I had a burger and the steak and mushroom pie. It wasn't outstanding but still good. All the awards all over the wall show it to be a breakfast place. So I'm sure the breakfast selection would have been a 5 star dish. Service was still quick and staff was very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Like star said its "Meh"..I ordered the roast beef dinner and my friends ordered the lasagna. Nothing special, not bad but it taste like anything you can order anywhere. DONT get the lemon meringue pie, the custard taste like something from a can. Apple pie was decent. But not a bad place. Luv the interior. Would i come back here again? maybe. Pro: - Gravy is awesome - Interior is interesting - Decent Price - Ample Parking Con: - Meh - nothing in the menu made me want to say "oh thats new"

Yelp
Not even worth the one star. Sorry. Glaring owner and servers, and ridiculous prices. You'd think that at 12.30 pm they would be happy to see customers to help the meagre 1/2 dozen sallow gloomy folks who were lingering over all day breakfast. I wanted to eat but my partner couldn't as dental work had just been done. When he didn't order, because of this precursor, we were informed there was a $5.50 split plate fee. For what? To sit in a gloomy grease pit and be put into a mood that we were a nuisance? I paid for the untouched beverage and we left. Maybe the bacon is fabulous (whatever...) But this one and only experience prompted me to say NEVER AGAIN. Screw you, Tomahawk.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. They used to have a crazy 4-6 patty burger but I noticed that its been non existent for a couple years now. Everytime I go, it's not only the crazy decor and cool native carvings, but the BACON!!! Omfg, I don't know wtf type of bacon or magical rainbow pigs but it is THE BEST!!! The Yukon comes with 5 pieces of bacon or the mixed grill is 9 pieces!! Guaranteed you'll come out full and into a food coma! Make sure to grab a tomahawk hat before you leave!

Yelp
We pulled up to the restaurant this morning ready to relive the fun, the moment, the zesty taste... Instead we got bupkis (cue audience moan). I asked for the 'veggie plate'. I got: - a paltry serving of sautéed mushrooms barely sautéed - green peppers sliced so thin you could see the plate underneath - spinach even Popeye would refuse They sat on a king-sized bed of mini tater tots. (the menu said 'hash browns: they weren't brown and they were not large like most of us think of when we conjure up hash browns). N.B. I can't have onions or tomatoes, so I asked them to make up for them with the other vegetables. They didn't. I got diddly. My 4 wedges of toast were regular-sized. I asked and got a heady amount of peanut butter. This was the only satisfaction in the entire meal. Are you ready? I paid $25. (with a 20% tip since it's COVID). This is outrageous. It should have cost $8. Since I was with a friend who made goo goo sounds when stepping through the door owing to a trip down memory lane from when he was last there as a child, I decided not to ruin his voodoo return to la la land. I smiled. The waitress smiled. The man at the door smiled. Guess what smiling staff? I will never go back. Sad meal. Sad customer = ugh.

Yelp
I wish I liked this place more... The kitschy vibe is enjoyable and I appreciate that it's been around for so long but the food is mediocre on the best of days. I've been here a few times and it seems the only passable meal is a simple breakfast - meat, eggs, toast. Nothing special but edible. A friend ordered corned beef and it was a gristly fatty mess and my veggie burger was so over cooked it crunched when I bit into it. The basic diner food they're serving isn't cheap either which makes it even tougher to swallow!
