15 Highlights from 8 Years of Travel Around the World

"Throwing tomatoes at La Tomatina was exactly as fun as it sounds — I woke up early, rode the train, drank sangria, and spent an hour pegging people with tomatoes in a once-in-a-lifetime, chaotic, and exhilarating experience (one time was enough for me)." - Matthew Kepnes

Waiter Tristan could not remember our order. Did not look happy to be at work and it showed. Food was cold when it got to the table. Garlic bread was stiff like it had been sitting out and was not fresh. The hard tea tasted like a peach iced tea from jack in the box. Pesto sauce was really good I can say that and Alex was very friendly when we came in the restaurant. Honestly I would not recommend coming here, you'd do a lot better at the olive garden.

I love the food here!! Me and my friend go here for my birthday, and I live getting the garlic rolls. 🤤 The ravioli is also really amazing. Then I also live the sparkling drinks! There isn't a lot of negative things I have to say about the service, but it can take some time for someone to come take your order, and also a while for the food to come. I guess other people love it as much as me!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful dining experience, thanks in large part to our incredible server, Tristan L. From the moment we sat down, Tristan was friendly, polite, and attentive—never letting our drinks go empty and making us feel genuinely welcome. The food was a mix of hits and misses: the pesto penne was absolutely delicious, and the lasagna was rich and flavorful—definitely a standout! The fettuccine Alfredo wasn’t quite to my taste, but everything else more than made up for it. The true highlight of the evening was Tristan’s exceptional service. He elevated the entire experience with his warmth and professionalism. We’ll definitely be back when back in town (from Seattle) - and hoping Tristan’s our server again!

My daughter and I came here to enjoy some pasta at a restaurant we had never been to before. It's located in downtown Alameda on park. We did not have to wait for seating at lunch time. They have the QR code and paper menus available. We were able to place our orders and receive our food quickly. The menu options were good and the food was delicious. Our server was basically the only one working at the time and she did a great job with drinks and bringing the food while also taking orders.

Tomatina is a restaurant that is in the city where I live, I confess that I had never been there one day I said...it's today!! Since my favorite Italian restaurant had closed in the Oakland area. I go to restaurants in almost the entire Bay area, but this one was a pleasant surprise for me and I have been repeating it religiously every Thursday and every day is a surprise in addition to the excellent service I always get from the waitress Cris. It will be easy for you to find out who Cris is, she has a streak of green hair and a kind of Irish and alternative way. But she is an incredibly friendly person, I can say that she is, if not better, one of the best waitresses I have ever seen in my life, simply unforgettable... someone who makes you want to be served all the time by her, because she is wonderful. Not only in efficiency in service but also in immense friendliness. Don't miss out. This is an experience worth differentiating between before and after she met you. The food is wonderful and comes quickly, the attentive Cris always remembers my name and remembers my characteristics from previous orders, like asking for a spoon to eat my spaghetti, something I've done since I was a child when my mother and father learned at school. Italy this. Furthermore, the care with the food, care and attention to customers is something fantastic. Cris has a memory that always remembers her name and her characteristics, food, as well as moving quickly, with a diplomatic education. Everything comes quickly, it's a clean and pleasant place. The staff is polite, the food is to die for and I always pray that I have found a new, better Italian restaurant for you to eat at, finally. I'm a fan of the place, I can't have better reviews than that.

Thursdays is when we usually frequent Tomatina as they have the children eat free night. As long as you pay for an entree, you can a free child’s meal. So if you pay for two entree, you can get two free children meals. Calzone, pretty much a folded in pizza was delicious. You can select your toppings so whatever you fancy for that day, you can have it. The January special is underwhelming. Seems to be the worst entree I have had from Tomatina. It was bland! So bland that even the Manila clams were not salty when it should have some salty taste to it naturally. Not sure what they did but yuck! Glad January ends tomorrow so they’ll have another special planned.

I went to Tomatina’s after a very very long time, and I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food and great service hasn’t changed. My absolute favorite thing to order off the menu here is their calzone! It’s a friggin’ amazing calzone! Probably my favorite from anywhere. The dough is chef’s kiss, they give you the option to stuff it with up to 3 toppings and they really load it up to! Also I was ecstatic to find out that they do happy hour here till 7pm!! The drinks are so fun here, I love a fruity drink. We also had the meatballs off the happy hour menu and they were pretty good. Additionally I want to give a shout out to the hispanic lady with the pretty glittery pink nails - sadly I didn’t catch her name but she was soo sweet checking in on us and asking how everything was, really great customer service on her end!

Yelp
We had dinner here lat night. The service and food was so tasty and delicious. Lucas, our waiter recommended the chicken parmesean. It came with spinach and yummy spaghetti. The dessert that we ordered came recommended as well; peach cobbler with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. To die for. Can't wait to come back again. Kudos to Lucas and the Tomatina Team. Oh, and thank you for always coming by and filling our water glasses. ~Salvador

Yelp
Stopped by for a spontaneous, solo weekday lunch and it was an alright experience. I walked in after 2:30pm and the restaurant was fairly empty, I had to wait briefly, as no one was at the front. Eventually, I was able to choose a seat, sit down and review a menu. I opted to choose the lunch special, where you choose from a soup or salad and an entree (such as a mini pizza, a sandwich or a pasta dish). I ordered the caesar salad with dressing on the side and a mini pizza with mushrooms and roasted red peppers along with a raspberry Italian soda. I was a bit bummed that they didn't have olives and green peppers as an option for toppings, since I usually like to order pizza with mushrooms and olives. Customer service was okay, since there was only one person working at the front, so it seemed a little inattentive. Although, I have no complaints and was satisfied with the service. The salad was a bit lackluster with too much cheese, and some wilted pieces of lettuce. I probably should've ordered a different salad or soup. The croutons were good and I'm glad I asked for dressing on the side. The mini pizza was pretty tasty, although I was a little sad that they didn't include enough toppings, the pizza was a bit sparse, and needed more cheese. I enjoyed the pizza, it was the best part and the crust was really good, in terms of texture and taste. The raspberry Italian soda was nice and refreshing. Overall, an adequate lunch experience, and it's nice you can get lunch combo for about $14-15. Lunch combo options are available Monday to Friday until 4pm, which is helpful. Possibly worth visiting.

Yelp
Went in for lunch after visiting Oakland for a matcha festival. I've gone to the other locations and have always had good food and good experiences. Wasn't the case here. We walked in to a pretty empty restaurant, but we weren't greeted for a good 3 minutes. There was a man at the counter helping a customer, a waiter standing at the food counter, a waitress serving a table. The customer in front of us seemed a little frustrated by the wait as well. There was an internet outage so they were having issues with printing. This was repeated several times while eating. I ordered a steak Caesar salad. The steak was forgotten and given in a cold ramekin- with cold gray meat. Not appealing. The baked pasta was dry and the cheese ravioli was over sauced. I won't write off the restaurant chain, but will not return to this location. The restaurant was quite dark.

Yelp
The food was on the delicious side but very oily which brought guilt to me once I reached the last layer! The waitress did not carry much of a friendly vibe but was somewhat patient. The restaurant was big with plenty of available seats, both indoor and outdoor. Street paid parking was available a couple blocks away.

Yelp
Was looking for Italian food to eat and came across this cute little place. There is outside seating as well, but the day that I went it was really cold so I sat inside. They were really busy, so service was slow but the staff is so friendly. We ordered the garlic rolls and it was a perfect appetizer but it was very filling. I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and it was so creamy and delicious. My sister got the ravioli and she absolutely loved it as well. We really enjoyed this place. It's aesthetic, it's comfortable and you feel so welcomed. The smell of pasta in there is so yummy! I'd recommend to give this place a try.

Meliza M.

Yelp
Service was alright they forgot my chicken in the shrimp/chicken Alfredo, pasta was alright super greasy my favorite was the bruschetta. Carrots were super old and brown not fresh at all one piece had mold.

Yelp
Tomatina in Alameda is our go to spot when we're craving pasta, and once again, my pic made it to their main Yelp page (Yaaaaay) At this point, they should just let me design the menu lol. Let's talk about those house made garlic rolls straight up addicting. I try to pace myself, but next thing you know, I'm three deep before the appetizers even hit the table. No regrets here ya feel me lol! My favorite dish is the Frutti di Mare, loaded with seafood and cooked just right no rubbery shrimp here. We usually start with the chopped antipasto salad, a solid one to share before diving into all the carbs. The Carne Combo pizza is always a hit, and I like to order a personal one for home but let's be real, I barely make it through the door before I'm going in for a slice smh. Another favorite is the Shrimp Pomodoro, but here's a pro tip ask them to add crispy pancetta. It's one of my food hacks. Sorry, chef, but I had to share. The one thing I wish this location had is fried calamari. It's my favorite app, and it would pair perfectly with those dangerous garlic rolls. Chef, bring it back I promise I'll order two : ) The place is always clean, the staff is friendly, and it definitely gets busy in the evenings. Service can be a little slow, but good food takes time. I feel like three stars would be lowballing, but four feels a little too generous. Yelp really needs a 3.5-star option that would be the sweet spot. Either way, we keep coming back, so that should tell you something : )

Yelp
Food is good classic Italian. Victoria our server was good and did great. The ambience is family style..

Yelp
Came here to enjoy their lunch special. I tried the minestrone soup with fresh vegetables added and chicken spaghettini ( chunks of chicken spinach, Parmesan cheese mixed with spaghetti noodles)

Yelp
Went on a Thursday again for kid eats free with an adult entree purchase. First time trying the chicken alfredo with zucchini noodles. It was tasty. The zucchini noodles definitely don't take up most of the sauce but I didn't care since I wanted something healthier hence the zucchini noodles over any pasta. It was tasty and overall it filled me and I didn't have that heavy feel as is with pasta or high carb meals. Make your own calzone is delicious. Could select up to three toppings of your choice. Service was fast and efficient though it was a little busy though not the busiest I've seen. So that helps in terms of not having to wait too long. The server was excellent. Our toddler was hungry and starting fussing, and the server provided us with gratis bread which satisfied the toddler! Great job! It wasn't too loud since it wasn't filled, which makes it a nice eating out.

Yelp
Food here will be great. Service is going OK ambience chatter dishes kitchen sound all around.
google avatar

Kathleen B.

Yelp
Every time we come here, we are always waiting so long. We get the same reasoning of being short staffed. This place is kid friendly which is nice, but when we're waiting for over half an hour to just get our orders taken, and then over 40 minutes to get the food, it's a little much. If they know it's going to be this way, at least offer to bring the kids dishes out first. The servers are nice enough, but it's almost like you can tell they know we've been waiting so long that they are nervous to come check on us. Maybe it's better when you don't go during dinner. Maybe do a really early dinner to avoid it. The food is pretty good, but I personally don't think it's worth the wait. But if you really want to go and get some food, go when you're not hungry so that by the time you do get the food, you'll be hungry for it. Oh and make sure to check the bill that it's really yours. We got the bill and paid it before realizing it wasn't even ours. They had to cancel it, but that meant we were swiping our card twice. This is the first time that this has ever happened to any of us.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has such low reviews? We used to be regulars here when my daughter attended school out here. Quality/Quantity - Simple menu done well. Known for their Piadine, my regular item. Also my go-to item when I want/need to eat healthy, basically a salad wrapped in pizza bread. Subway is my other go to place for healthy eating, a "sandwich salad..." Too bad they closed the one on Park Street. Cut and pasted from their website: "Piadine - A fresh, hot flatbread topped with crisp salad, ready to fold and eat." Also known for their pizzas; they have two pizza ovens, see picture. Not sure how long they have had these lunch specials...? We used to only come for dinner. It is a good deal, pick two items for $13. I also like their daily specials, see pictures. Might have to come back on Mondays for those $3 beers. Full bar also available, sorry forgot to take a picture. Today I was good and got the following - Mediterranean Salad & Turkey Piadine. My usual go-to would have been the steak Piadine, but that was not an option for this lunch special. My guest got the Mediterranean Salad & Pasta and Sauce. She finished her entire lunch and I took half my Piadine home. Yes, I am a light eater. Atmosphere - Good size location. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Since the pandemic, additional outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm or 10pm; see picture or website, Yelp hours differ slightly. Open kitchen. Street parking, current extensive construction with restricted parking, good luck. I parked 4, yes FOUR, blocks away. Good thing I enjoy walking. Service - Christina was good. She checked up on us twice. We were almost the only customers and never felt rushed. 1.5 hour lunch as it was very good to catch up with a friend. Loyalty program. Price - $33 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1997 with your 8 locations.

Yelp
LARGE PARTY REVIEW: We recently hosted a birthday party here for a group of about 26. We had the patio all to ourselves. The tables were nicely set up with simple flowers. The patio is covered, and there are heaters overhead. My sister worked with their manager to pre-select the menu ahead of time. She indicated that the communication was a little slow, but eventually everything was settled. The food was set up on trays and served buffet style. Everything was very good, especially their pizzas. They even let us bring our own birthday cake, and they cut and served it for us on their own plates. I thought that was a really nice touch. Their service was wonderful throughout the evening. When the little ones got restless, the manager came out with color chalk so they could draw on the walkway behind the patio. She said they will hose off the walkway afterwards. Our reservations was only for 2 hours, but we probably stayed an extra half hour, and they never rushed us out. The patio leads to an alleyway where there's a brick wall covered with vines. The staff offered to take a picture of our group against that wall, and it turned out great. I can't say enough about their service. This is a great neighborhood spot for some casual Italian food or for a special occasion.
google avatar

Isabella H.

Yelp
Fast casual Italian spot serving pasta, pizza, and salads. Service was prompt and to the point. The meatballs were tasty and the bread was warm, I wish the marinara sauce had more flavor. Caesar salad was ok. Shrimp Pomodoro was fine but had a strong burnt taste -- I think the basil was burnt but the shrimp was nicely cooked. The lemonade refills are available for $1, the bill for 3 people was $94. The meal was fine for a quick bite but I'm unlikely to come back
google avatar

P C.

Yelp
Came to get lunch and we had to wait 42 mintes for a table. They had two servers and only 11 tables in the restaurant occupied. They sat us after there where only 6 tables occupied in the restaurant? This is crazy!
google avatar

Kendra F.

Yelp
For a delivery order, I am pleasantly impressed. I ordered through DoorDash a few nights ago and received the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and four garlic rolls. Basically, I enabled the garlic rolls. They were so fragrant and with the oil and parsley (?) included in the box with the rolls it was a perk that they weren't soggy. I didn't even need the marinara sauce I ordered on the side. It was the perfect amount of oil and minced garlic bits to rub the bread around in the box. C'mon, I ordered takeout so I don't have to do dishes. This was a treat. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was also superb. Sure, it may be easy to make and hard to screw up, but the amount of sauce was perfect. The flavor was evident and I had a full belly when I was done. This place met my cravings right where they were at - Italian.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
I ordered online and it was ready ontime. This is the 1st Tomatina that got my order PERFECTLY correct! I will not go to Union Landing Tomatina in Union City anymore. They always botch my order and shorten my name (I dislike that immensely) seeing KIMBERLY written on the bag may seem like a small thing but it made my day! The food was hot & freshly prepared! The place was bustling with happy diners, it was nice to be in & out quickly! See ya next week!
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
Super great place to go for happy hour! All the food and drinks were great and reasonably priced during happy hour. It was also nice because you could order more stuff on a QR code through your phone (great for a last minute drink right before happy hour ends) Food was decent portions for the price and all very fresh and tasty. My only issue was the service - it definitely took upwards of 20 minutes for each round of drinks to come out.
google avatar

Ahseia L.

Yelp
Service was ok, staff in the back bar area idle on phones, and food is definitely not worth the price. The Alfredo sauce is gross, literally just oil. I swear Olive Garden, sbarro's and even fazoli's has been better.
google avatar

Gabrielle T.

Yelp
Tomatina has always been a good place to get a decent plate of pasta, but my most recent visit to this location took the cake--or the plate, rather. While the service was relatively lacking (la chica just kept forgetting about us, it seemed), the pasta (I came up with a penne creamy pesto with sundried tomato and mushroom make-your-own) was worth the visit and the cocktail was ULTRA worth it. A cucumber coconut cream confection that my girl and I both ordered and lost our minds over. It was unbelievably delicious. We ordered ours sans splash of Sierra Mist but I guess it'd be yummy either way. My girl had the lasagna and said it was good, and it's a staple she's pretty familiar with. I was surprised that they were so empty on a Saturday night. The front door was wide open, making the front of the house freezing, so we played musical chairs a few times before ending up in a booth in the middle of the room. Otherwise, the visit was comfortable, the food was good, and the lackluster service wasn't enough to put a damper on the experience.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
Sadly, tonight's visit was, well, pretty sad. I ordered a margarita pizza. It was a wet mess. The crust was soaking wet all the way to the edges. It would have been impossible for the cook to not notice that this pizza required a spoon to eat. The mixta salad was good as usual. The service was fast and friendly. But I came here for a pizza and I left with about 1/3 of the pizza uneaten. This restaurant tends to be noisy but that's not a problem. The dining room is clean and crowded. The bathroom cleanliness was three on a scale of 1 to 5. But the pizza was a wet mess.
google avatar

Maurine S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my SIL and was impressed with their pick two item menu for lunch. We had a nice seat by the window and the waitress was pretty nice even though she seemed to cover the whole restaurant. Since it was empty for the most part, the restaurant was pretty casual and not noisy. I wanted to get the calamari appetizer but they said they didn't serve it at their location. Bummer. We both had the Caesar salad and pizza. Pepperoni for me and mushroom spinach for her. The crust was crisp and chewy and topping amount decent. The Caesar salad was surprisingly good with a nice cheesy garlicky croutons. Parking was a bit tough but we managed to find a meter. I would come back again if I wasn't concerned about parking.

Yelp
Thank you Alyssa for your great customer service! Came in yesterday to pick up a Togo order. The front was full of ppl waiting to be seated and helped. I can tell the host was overwhelmed but doing the best he could. We all were just crowded up there for about 10 minutes Alyssa came in and helped everyone with a smile on.super nice and friendly. Thank you

Yelp
We have been Eating at Tomatina for years. Most visits are uneventful and I do really love the food. We now live out of the area and my wife really misses the Piadine. So every time we're in town, she has to satisfy her craving for one and I really enjoy the Spaghetti and Carne Combo Pizza! This last visit was on a Sunday at lunch. Unfortunately, they were terribly understaffed. We had to wait at the front desk for a while before anyone showed up. After we were seated, it took a long time to get our drinks and take our orders. Also the food took a long, long time to come out. Our server told us that there were only two people in the kitchen. My wife ordered a salad to go with her Piadine. The salad came out first. Some time after finishing her salad, my Spaghetti showed up. After finishing my Spaghetti, her Piadine finally showed. The service could had been better there for sure. The food was good. As usual, I really enjoyed the Mama's Spaghetti and Meatballs. I really love the homemade pasta there. My wife does love her Steak Piadine, but this time it was overcooked and really too crunchy. This is the first time that I recall that we have had an issue with the Piadine. But we did stiil enjoy our lunch. Problems aside, our family loves Tomatina and will be back again and again. This visit was an exception. We enjoy a 5-star experience with almost every visit. Whether it's Pasta or their thin crust pizza, it's hard to go wrong with the food at Tomatina!

Neelab S.

Yelp
I went for lunch here with my colleague. Pizza is not mine. However everything else we ordered was yummy and fresh. Lucas the amazing server was funny and very professional. He did such an awesome job. Ty to the bartender for making my mocktails taste amazing when I asked for no sugar one. This is a gem in Alameda. Must try! Loved the seating by the window.
google avatar

Gaylord G.

Yelp
Food ok Service was good Ambiance is still the same since they opened. We normally eat to go. But decided to eat at the site. The lunch special was worth it.
google avatar

Dawn L.

Yelp
Booked a reservation as I heard it gets very busy here! Was easy on OpenTable. The place is cute and clean. The space has a very nice pizza oven in the middle of the room! A good view of the chefs prepping. The food was very very good! They don't disappoint!!! Although my friend said her shrimp pomodoro was too spicy to enjoy. The drinks were tasty and freshly made by a proper bartender! The service started out great and declined at the end? The server forgot our boxes for our leftovers. Recommend you find street parking a full street away for free parking. Clean restrooms!
google avatar

Laila W.

Yelp
The food here is delicious and it's in a prime Alameda location! From the minestrone soup to the garlic bread and pasta...you won't be disappointed. Ambiance is dimly lit and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. We came about 30 minutes before closing so our service wasn't the best but the food made up for it. There was a lot of noise of dishes being put away etc. which is understandable. There is street parking nearby but if you are meeting a friend, I would recommend ample time to find parking and to walk over to the restaurant.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
This place was disappointing. We were handed menus with lunch specials but were told we could only order from the other side. That is just bad customer service. I guess kids eating free on some days is a cool offer, but as an adult I don't want to eat there. The salad i ordered I almost sent back because it was unrecognizable. It had a lot of dressing and was very salty. The blueberry margarita was weak. Its a no for me.
google avatar

Aaron H.

Yelp
I never ever write reviews. Food was fantastic and I love the Thursday deal for kids. Beyond this food though I need to highlight a particular staff member. I have never dined with my 13 month old alone before. It was a hassle and I was filled with anxiety and scared. But my server Ruby made the ambiance and everything perfect. She was attentive to the needs of a father trying to feed his baby, offered all the right things and checked in frequently. Whoever manages this place, please thank Ruby as best you can for me. I cannot express enough how much she helped me
google avatar

Dre M.

Yelp
My family and I were regulars here, especially on Thursday nights. I understand it can get hectic having going for years. Usually service is great and everyone knows us and treats us with nothing but smiles. The last couple times has been painful but last night was probably my last time sadly. After waiting 20 min to get on the waitlist, I finally did. I was never reached out to if a table was ready or not. We ended up choosing the plethora of options near by. Love this place because of the staff there, unfortunatley when the A team isnt there, this place is a s$@! show.
google avatar

Noelle S.

Yelp
Our service here has been hit or miss and so has been our food. It depends on what we order and depends on we come. We came early in the day and were basically ignored, were served half by the host and half by our server. We're not given our Togo boxes after asking twice and our server was blatantly ignoring us and only paying attention to a much bigger table. We came before at night on a weekend and had a much better experience. I am conflicted and don't know if we will be returning.
google avatar

Laine G.

Yelp
We are thankful that Tomatina is here in Alameda. It's simple lighter Italian style food that meets our taste buds. We visit here every few months. The winter seasonal pasta and crab cioppino special a few weeks back really hit the spot. Cioppino had Dungeness crab, mussels, shrimp, fish with a light tomato sauce. Could have used more sauce but tasty none the less. The Winter Pasta had Fusilli, spicy calabrian sausage, shiitake mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, marinara, and arugula. Had a nice kick to it. Servers were busy yet attentive enough. Servers came to sing and present the birthday dessert also. The restaurant was nice and warm on a wet winter evening. It's a casual and great for families, coupes and groups. It was probably 80% full on a Friday night at 7:30pm. The bathroom does need a refresh and better cleaning and maintenance though.

Ashley W.

Yelp
Went at 3 when it was dead. Waitress still seemed impatient with me even with only 2 other tables in establishment. Dropped food off and came back by later to ask how it was and didn't even stop to hear my response. Only 1/2 of the raviolis had an actual filling. The ones that did were great and the Cesar salad was great. Just wish the food was more consistent.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
Came in for lunch on a Sunday and had a great experience. Service was awesome and very attentive. I got the 'Caesar Salad' and the 'Shrimp Pomodoro' both were great. If you're looking for a family friendly place to eat on in Alameda this is a good spot. The Vanilla Gelato was amazing!

Yelp
WHEN: Friday @3pm I actually got here around 2pm in hopes to get a back patio table for my party of 3. But I happen to hit the day where it was closed for a special event. So I sat in one of the parklet tables in front until my friends came around 3pm, which is when Happy Hour starts (3pm-6pm M-F)! I haven't been back to dine in since before the the pandemic and boy do I miss it! I've alway loved the food here, and I've been wanting to do happy hour again, though it sort of changed since. You have the option of ordering directly from your phone and you can do this the entire time you're there. No need to decided everything at once. Just keep adding it and at the end you pay for the total. Convenient! There's less on the Happy Hour food menu now, so we ordered everything: CREATE-YOUR-OWN PIZZA - $7 Mini hand-tossed pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella and your choice of 2 Custom Creation Toppings. There's a lot different toppings to choose from and I chose FENNEL SAUSAGE and MUSHROOM. Wow it was yummy! They don't skimp on the toppings and it was so good. BRUSCHETTA - $7 Basil pesto, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Parmesan and tomato vinaigrette. Countless weddings and events have turned me off from bruschetta, but my sis ordered some anyway. It comes with 3 hefty looking bruschetta and boy am I glad she ordered this because it was good! The bread part was soft, the tomatoes were roasted, and it was just a wonderful snack! MEATBALLS - $7 Braised in marinara, with Parmesan and Pugliese bread. OH man, this was delicious, but I must say I enjoyed the bread the most. Ask for more butter cuz screw it it's Friday and there's plenty of marinara to dip that bread in. Oh and yes, meatballs were tasty. RED SANGRIA - $5 It's not on the online menu, so you can just ask your server for it. Sadly there was no white sangria so I chose this, which is quite sweet. It's like juice to be honest. It comes in a large glass with citrus fruit garnish, but no fruit in the cup. SHRIMP POMODORO - $21.95 Spaghetti with basil, oregano, crushed red pepper, garlic, Parmesan and tomato sauce. Okay, since it was my friend's birthday I guess he gets to pick a pasta to share, which was quite good--at least the pasta part. He opted out on the parm, and I opted out on the shrimp since it's something I don't care for. But its decent if you're into red sauce and shrimp. MIXTA SALAD - $18.50 +$5.25 Salmon Mixed greens, gorgonzola, pickled red onions, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and honey mustard vinaigrette. Ahhh another great choice my sis made cuz I never order salad! Also, I appreciate how generous they are with the salmon, which was NOT dry! Everything came together so wonderully! Since it was our friend's birthday we had dessert! Here's what we shared: SRAWBERRY RHUBARB CRISP - $9.75 Topped with vanilla gelato. Perfect. Just order it. This is seasonal so order it NOW. TIRAMISU - $9.75 Ladyfingers, espresso, mascarpone, and sweet Marsala. I've had this before and it's still amazing. Very shareable. Service is always amazing here. Food is always good here. I'm sad they no longer serve my favorite pasta...the one with pine nuts...something gorgonzola. Anyway, at times I shy away from chain restaurants but I can't turn away from Tomatina. They are consistently gooooooooood.

Yelp
HAIR in my Antipasta SALAD! Did I say Hair? Yes I did. Ok, lemme start by saying I just had lunch at Tomatina with three of my family. Having eaten here before I was expecting excellent service and excellent food. NOPE!! After a rather crappy, hasty greeting by the waitress, our drinks took 15 minutes to arrive, followed by an hor's douvre, followed by main course like 20 minutes later. When I complained about the hair the manager insisted on me pointing it out, not just taking my word. This made me gag a second time. WTH???? The waitress offered to replace the meal which I wisely declined. I was like way past hunger. Personally I would have comped the whole meal? Did they? NOPE!! Instead the knocked off a couple ice teas. Total cost of the Mel? 100 bucks, which I left in cash including a 20% tip. Why did I tip? 1) because I want to encourage their crappy service so they lose even more clients..2) I wisely paid cash cause I want no blowback from a truthful negative yelp review. I immediately told everyone at home the experience I had there. I'm now telling you. I will never ever eat there again. What a horrendous experience. I honestly think this pace has gone seriously down hill. Never ever again! Did I say hair in my salad?

Yelp
I ordered the Summer Pappardelle from the seasonal menu and wow this pasta is absolute perfection! It is now one of my fav pastas with the mouth watering mix of egg noodles, toy box cherry tomatoes, white corn, and fennel sausage tossed with garlic, basil, and butter sauce! My family and I appreciated the excellent service from the time we checked in for our reservation to when it was time for us to pay for our dinner. The employee who checked us in did an excellent job with thoroughly cleaning the table and seats we were waiting for. Our server, Jordan, took all of our orders and requests down and served us impeccably. Jordan checked on us throughout our dining time. We appreciate Jordan and all of the staff who treated us with excellent hospitality! It is no question why my family, friends and I enjoy dining at this Tomatina in Alameda!

Yelp
The service is guaranteed terrible aside from the two very thoughtful and friendly latino staff members, one male and one woman; very consistently nice and wonderful to me and anyone I come with, remembers me. Actually, the girl with the glasses is sweet too. Let's not forget her. But otherwise I've had plates tossed at me like frisbees, and loudly clattering on my table, getting ignored as I wave for a member of staff and then talked to like a fool, them getting attitudes if I point out that I not only had my food tossed at me, but also that I ordered a pepperoni and proscuitto pizza, not a pepperoni and olive one..... And a lot of very very sticky tables and menus. It sucks, since their happy hour and meals are SO. GOOD. It was a favorite place of mine. But I stopped going after some unbelievably bad service, paired with watching the one of two cooks they have openly coughing and hacking without covering her mouth, directly onto food, as she's kneading pizza dough and working WITH FOOD about to BE SERVED TO PEOPLE. I reported that to the business and pretty much never got a response back, very gross. Now I can't go back even if I wanted to, unless I wanted a drink, since they do have amazing scenery and espresso martinis. It has real potential.

Yelp
Hostess was nice and welcoming. Waiter was nice but a bit inattentive with water refills etc, but I think he was working solo. Pretty good food! Prices are "alameda prices", but portions are kinda worth the slightly higher prices. If you just want some good filling pasta dishes, this is the place to come. Parking is horrendous/nearly non-existent as it's in the heart of park street, you'll have to park in certain lots or a block to so away and walk. You will probably smell like cooking/food smells after sitting in here. Would I come back? I wouldn't go out my way to choose it, but I wouldn't mind if someone said let's go to tomatina.

Yelp
I had such a lovely time at Tomatina. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I was disappointed with the cheese ravioli which was the main fav dish for the person who recommended this place. You can tell they care about quality. Def would come back.

Yelp
Tomatina is a chain restaurant so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. We chose to visit because we were in a hurry and they didn't look busy. Upon our arrival we were seated right away and was told we could scan the QR code for the menu and tho order. A couple minutes later, a server arrived and offered to get us menus and let us know he could place our order if it was easier. We decided to order a pizza, kids spaghetti, kids white sauce pizza and a chicken Alfredo. The food took a little longer than we anticipated considering they weren't very busy. The food was just your average meal. What you would expect from a chain restaurant. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because our server was nice and attentive.

Yelp
I don't understand why people give this restaurant bad reviews. It's my favorite restaurant. I've only ordered three things, garlic rolls, pizza and ravioli. Garlic rolls are the best if only I could have more but my mom keeps eating them too. Comes with a marinara sauce to dip in. Delicious delicious delicious. Ravioli (kids - this is a kid reviewing) is delicious might have too much sauce. Beautiful restaurant, amazingly lighted, only downside is that it can be loud, can be difficult to communicate. . Good service and it is near tuckers ice cream. Five stars!

Yelp
Had a beautiful experience at the Alameda location yesterday. I was craving the seasonal butternut squash ravioli but for some reason you had to order it on the app which was a little awkward. Nonetheless it arrived with my Mediterranean salad which was bomb! Also try the garlic rolls- so delicious! The ravioli was portioned nicely but could have used a little pumpkin spice or nutmeg to enhance its flavor. It was my first visit here in Alameda and server Karina was pleasant and hospitable. Looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
The food came out cold and arrived to my table after 1 hour of ordering. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen but this experience has deterred me from wanting to come to this place again. There was a lot of smoke coming from the pizza ovens and there was no ventilation.
