Spent just one night here while on a bus tour of Mount Fuji and Hakone. This is a very typical Japanese style inn. The rooms are very basic, but it is clean and comfortable. Meals, breakfast and dinner, are provided buffet style. the food is pretty good if you're familiar with Japanese country cooking. There is also some Western food available. Beer can be purchased from vending machines and you can ask the front desk if you want to purchase shochu. I actually bought a bottle of their self branded liquor, which was not bad, and kept the bottle as a souvenir.
The hotel sits on Lake Kawaguchi. Every room has a great view of the lake and Mount Fuji in the background. When we arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon, it was a bit cloudy. However, at 5:00am the next day, it was perfectly clear as the sun was rising. I was able to get some fantastic photos at that time. If you cross the street, there is walkway that basically wraps around the lake in either direction. There are also some spots where you can walk to the water's edge. I saw locals fishing in the lake.
Lastly, this hotel contains an onsen or Japanese bath. I find the natural spring water to be revitalizing. Just be careful if you are not familiar with hot spring baths. The water is heavy with minerals and can sometimes cause a reaction to sensitive skin.
