Vegetarian Old School Hangout. Don't miss the milkshakes

Google
I might change the food rating after I've tried more dishes, but the food is generally a bit pricier and the menu is not the friendliest. I wish there were more descriptions or pictures for the dishes. I do highly commend their vegan/vegetarian options as well as healthy food picks. The dishes I've had hadn't been bad, but not as good as I wish for the price. Their milkshakes though, I absolutely love. Very, very good. The service and seating is great, it does get crowded/long lines during weekends!

I had a fantastic time at Tommy's. My group ordered the Hummus (Hot with Cheese), French Fries, a Hot Dog, a Bacon Cheeseburger, and a Jennie Wrap. Personally, I tried the Hummus, Fries, and Jennie. The highlight of the meal was the Jennie, which had a great earthy flavor and was very filling. The fries were also wonderful and very reminiscent of Five Guys fries but less oily. The hummus was also great but very unique. It had things like cheese and bean sprouts, which is very unique to hummus I've had before. The atmosphere and service are where Tommy's truly excels. The wait system is convenient, and once seated, the staff is great. The look of the store and integration with the neighboring bookstore was also wonderful. I look forward to another meal at Tommy's in the future.

Google
Highly recommend the curt burger and strawberry shake! Plus get 1 fry to share because the basket is large!! Service is always great and this place is always busy for a good reason. I advise sitting in front of middle as the back is very loud. One of my fav Cleveland restaurants!!! Also parking is super easy with a free parking garage across the street.

If you find yourself in the Coventry area of Cleveland, Ohio, do yourself a favor and make your way to Tommy's Restaurant. This gem is not just another eatery; it’s a culinary oasis that serves the best freshly made chicken salad sandwich you’ll ever taste! From the moment you step inside, the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel right at home. But the real star of the show is, without a doubt, their chicken salad sandwich. Imagine tender, juicy pieces of chicken, perfectly seasoned and blended with just the right amount of mayonnaise to create a creamy, delectable filling. They incorporate crunchy celery and mayo that add a delightful contrast in textures. Each bite is a burst of freshness, as every ingredient is of the highest quality and made to order. What sets this sandwich apart is the pita bread- It cradles the chicken salad without overpowering it, allowing the flavors to shine. You can customize your sandwich with crisp lettuce and juicy tomato, giving it that extra crunch and freshness. Pair it with sweet potatofries, and you’ve got a meal that is simply unforgettable. Whether you're dining in or grabbing a quick bite to go, Tommy's chicken salad sandwich is a must-try! It’s more than just a sandwich; it’s an experience. The perfect blend of homey comfort and gourmet taste. Don’t miss out on this exceptional dish—your taste buds will thank you! 🌈🥪✨

Tommy’s is a family favorite, we always make sure to stop in during the holidays. We know the drill as the wait times can get long so arrive right at opening or wait for the lunch rush to die down. My granny gets the Quigly, I tried the M3 (spinach pie), and my mom got French onion soup. We always split a basket of fries which were gobbled up before I could take a picture! We polished it all down with a chocolate malt, as they are known for their shakes. Food is fresh and it’s a great place for family’s and large groups. My only qualm is that service can be a bit slow due to its popularity. Otherwise great place with lots of vegan, vegetarian, or regular meat eater options!

Google
I have been fed by Tommy's cuisine for decades, growing up in Cleveland and visiting since I left. The food is everything I long for - delicious. But today's review is not about the food, it is about the service. Today is my best friend's birthday. I ordered a gift card for him online. To my chagrin, the order duplicated my billing address instead of the friend I wanted it shipped to. I called at an ungodly hour, 8:30am (nearly 4 hours before opening), and Tim answered the phone. He promptly troubleshooted for me. He took down my name and number, and had the office manager follow up to fix the issue within hours. Stephanie Gruber delivered. This is a place that will feed you right and take care of you. Respect is earned, and Tommy's has all of mine. Thank you Tommy, Tim, Stephanie, and crew!

Google
been coming to this place for years, it's an establishment! the menu is large so you have to know what to order. the MR4 is an insane combination of ingredients but it is arguably my favorite bite in cleveland, it's so special. great atmosphere in here, great place to come with friends and family. the iced tea is also lovely here!! tommy's is so wonderful 🫶🏼

Great menu, large portions, delicious food! We always get the wonderful French fries. This is go to place for out-of-town guests if they want to eat out.

Yelp
Protect Tommy's at all costs!! It is the most wholesome place for breakfast lunch or dinner. A never ending menu full of something for vegans and meat eaters alike! The inside is bright and has tall ceilings, plants live on the tall shelving and border every window. Such a happy vibe! Service can be hit or miss - I've had wonderful, quick meals and I've had some experiences that i found myself a little forgotten about. I try to give the benefit of the doubt though!! Nevertheless, this restaurant has been an anchor in the community for decades and we ought to make sure it is cherished and celebrated.

Yelp
So the vibe of this place was so SICK!!!! It seemed to have a retro 60s style diner vibe and I totally was where for it. However, this veggie burger I got was the most disgusting veggie burger I've ever had. I clearly got something on the menu that Tommy's is not known for because it genuinely was so gross I couldn't even finish it. looks like people rave about the other stuff on the menu so i guess i tried the wrong item but snap i was excited about this place. maybe someday ill try again

Yelp
Service was good and swift. French onion soup was delicious on this snowy day. Tuna salad on pita was great. Fries are crispy goodness, but be sure to salt them up! The bookstore adjacent is precious.

Yelp
I had, without a doubt, the worst grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had. The worst sandwich I have ever had. A grilled cheese is a very low bar to get right. There was VERY little cheese. It was mostly large, multiple slices of barely pink tomatoes and large chunks of raw green bell pepper. On pita. And no flavor. It is beyond me why the place was packed with people waiting. The fries were good but unsalted. My first and last visit.

Yelp
Not cheap at all but excellent healthy options available which is valuable and the food IS delicious. Steamed veggies although nearly $7 were delicious and perfectly made. Tofu salad was delicious as was the tempeh salad (celery, vegannaise, tempeh, onion). Very busy at all times inside so I recommend curbside carry out which has specified parking right outside. They also have delicious vegan cookies available which are super expensive at $4.50 but soft and large. The tempeh salad in unbelievably good. Nutty, savory, slightly sweet. SO delicious. The Lynne is a tempeh salad sandwich w cheese, onion, and pita served hot for just under $12. It is also very good but I prefer the tempeh salad by itself as a side (despite the nearly $7 price). They have carob to add to shakes which is divine and super hard to find! A carob chocolate malt is straight from heaven.

Yelp
This was definitely not my first time to Tommy's. This was a much better experience than last time though so I adjusted my rating. We were in Coventry for the kids fest, so I expected a wait. We arrived and checked in per usual. We only waited perhaps 8 minutes. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. The children in my party ordered pizza. I ordered the pita that had turkey ham tomato and Muenster cheese. Everyone devoured their food. No money was wasted. Next time, we will try a milkshake.

Yelp
We visited Tommy's because it was a short distance from University Circle and I have always been partial to Coventry. I have been to Tommy's many times before. We were lucky to sit in one of the more private booths, which was nice. The food was ok, but not like I remember. They definitely have an expansive menu and the menu items have fun names. I guess i now prefer smoother hummus. Tommy's hummus has more texture. The falafel salad seemed to be iceberg lettuce a few vegetables and a couple of pieces of falafel, so it was fair. The service was good and staff seemed friendly and engaging. Overall, it was a nice visit with my oldest but we would probably pick another place next time.

Yelp
Best milkshake you'll ever have!! You must get the fries and try an amazing felafel! I've never had anything below great here! But seriously, get a milkshake!

Yelp
My first time back to Tommy's in about 10 years and it is just as wonderful as I remember it. Great selection of sandwiches with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent fries. Wonderful shakes. This time I had The Colleen which had crispy falafel, bacon and veggies. And I couldn't go to Tommy's without a shake, so I got The Josh which was banana and cookie dough. The staff was wonderful. Very quick. We did have to wait a bit but once you checked in, they will send you a text when your table is ready so you can go check out the other stores nearby.

Yelp
Loved it! Visiting family in Cleveland and they brought us here. Loved the extensive menu and lots of vegetarian options along with meats. Sorry I was too full for a malt or milkshake! Others had a peach milkshake and an egg dish. It was all yummy.

Yelp
Tommy's has been a cultural and dining icon on Coventry in Cleveland Heights for more than 50 years. So I've eaten there as a teenager, then trough the decades, and no as a senior citizen. The menu runs the gamut of styles, ethnicities and healthy eating and not. They also cater to special diets like lactose free, vegan, and vegetarian. In my experience, here are the best things on the menu 1. The best homemade babaganush in town. An appetizer size is a meal at lunch 2. Falafel...spiced perfectly, fresh, delicious by themselves, in a wrap or in a salad 3. French fries. Order the..one order for 3 people...you'll understand 4. All salads are amazingly fresh. 5. Burgers...they are crazy good right off the griddle 6. Milkshakes are handmade and by far, the best in Greater Cleveland, either as part of a meal, as dessert, or to go. Everyone I know who have had serious dental work use Tommy's milkshakes as part of their recovery. The menu is huge and fun. The service is solid, I've never been disappointed. Lots of seating but can be crowded. During the Christmas holiday period the place is packed with college kids visiting home and their families. The only downside is the painfully small bathrooms. Here's to at least another 50 years!

Yelp
Praise Be To God for Tommy's, a Cleveland Heights institution for 50 years. Casual, family-friendly dining that can't be beat. Whether you're a carnivore or a vegan, there is something delicious for you. Our go-to are the spinach & meat pies, oven baked to perfection, and of course, the best french fries in NE OH. The staff is super chill yet easily accommodating. If you have somehow never been (crazy, I know) what are you waiting for!

Yelp
I have always loved Tommy's-I have been eating here for over 45 years (my parents started taking us here a few years after they opened as a soda fountain). I broke my tradition of getting a spinach pie and banana honey milkshake-I went with a black cherry this time and I was not disappointed. The fries are really good too. I live in Atlanta now and I really miss the great food of Cleveland.

Yelp
Delicious as always. They were a bit busy so we waited a while for our bill at the end but I don't blame the waiter for that. I love the charm of this place. A great neighborhood joint.

Vik R.

Yelp
The menu looks strange when you read it, but the food is definitely made with care. The service was fine, but the wait was crazy long, 20-30 minutes at least. We had the Colleen, which was definitely a weird combination (pork and falafel, what the heck?), but it was pretty tasty. Turns out good falafel goes with anything. We also had the onion soup, which was really good. Finally, we had the veggie burger, which was overall good while the patty was a bit bland.

Yelp
I was craving a cheeseburger and had heard about the milkshakes at Tommy's being delicious so this was a must try in the area. The restaurant is much larger inside than expected and it's a comfortable clean diner feel. I really like the closed in booths since they provide a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The service was very friendly and attentive without being overly intrusive. The size of the menu was quite a surprise and a bit overwhelming but we both decided on burgers and shakes with fries. I had an oatmilk chocolate shake that was good but maybe not as smooth as I hoped. My partner had a regular salted caramel shake and it was quite a treat for him! Our cheeseburgers were well cooked and we had a ton of fresh cut fries to share. All in all an enjoyable experience with standard diner fare. I am at 4 stars really because nothing feels terribly exciting or interesting about the food. But it was a nice meal.

Yelp
Tommy's was a fun first time restaurant experience in Cleveland. The serving sizes are large, the food is savory, and the options are unlimited. The staff is accommodating and chill, and willing to change in order to suit your personal needs. The inside was busy, but not loud, and the spacing between patrons was done perfectly. There was privacy if you were taking a date here, and it was cozy enough that you could make conversation comfortably, and I'm very busy environment without having to yell. Good food, good staff, good location. If you're in Cleveland, I suggest coming to visit for at least one of your meals. It's worth the stop come in, eat like a savage and no one will judge you.

Yelp
Tommy's is a Coventry staple with a gigantic menu. There are many vegetarian and vegan options, and while it has classic diner food they also have many Mediterranean options. I came to Tommy's with two of my friends because we had a french fry and milkshake craving. Because it was close to dinner time, we also all decided we may as well get burgers. We each got a cheeseburger with lettuce&tomato side (which was an extra fee, slightly less than the "burger works" which is lettuce&tomato&onion&mayo), a basket of fries to share (don't get your own basket thinking it's a normal size side, this basket was big!), and milkshakes. Tommy's allows you to mix different milkshake flavors which is fantastic since I love to customize a beverage. My chocolate/cookies and cream milkshake was the best part of my meal, and I had enough to fill half of a to go cup. The burger was good - the patty was a little thin but the bun was nice and soft and the lettuce and tomatoes that I asked for on the side were very fresh. The fries were ok. They completed the meal, but they weren't my favorite style of fry. If you have ever been to Melt, the fries were similar to the Melt fries but actually softer. They were pretty good dipped into the milkshake but in just ketchup, a little lackluster. I did like that they come unsalted but salt, pepper, and malt vinegar come on the table so you can make them more your taste. Overall, Tommy's is a cute place that probably offers anything you would want to eat in a given lunch or dinner period. Didn't love the fries, but would come back for burgers and milkshakes, and honestly would probably still order the fries again ~for the experience~

Yelp
It was a little difficult to find, we couldn't really see a sign for it but knew the general area it was in. It's much bigger on the inside and the food is amazing!! The vegetarian tamales were so freaking delicious! It's so difficult to find a solid tamale as a not meat eater especially in NEO. I had heard really good things about this place and am so glad we were able to check it out. I wasn't expecting so many plant based options but was super stoked to find that existed. Now I want to go back and try all the other dishes.

Yelp
The last of the hippies of Coventry. Big Fun and City Buddha are gone, but Tommy's carries on, serving hippie-inspired food to a new generation. I love this place. Famous for its milkshakes, by the way; do stop by if you have a sweet tooth for ice cream (including vegan varieties as well -- in fact, Tommy's is a good spot for vegans.) And, do drop by Mac's Backs after filling your tummy, and browse the paperbacks, if you a book lover or a poet.

Yelp
Tommy's what happened??? I haven't been there in a while. I ordered my favorite Zippy. What a mess! Runny tahini, giant overwhelming green pepper slices, stale pita, too much lettuce and tomato. Burnt. Couldn't find the cheese Tommy's- please come back!

Lynne S.

Yelp
Tommy's has been part of the Cleveland Heights scene for decades and the food continues to be outstanding. Tommy's has always had a cool vibe. There are many food options for many eating styles all well executed. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. Best milk shakes around.

Yelp
Went here for lunch it was crowded so get here right away. I got the wildflower wrap and it was so good! And I got the oat milk milkshake which had vanilla and banana flavors. It was so good and fresh!! Also get the fries!! Totally shareable too since it's a large portion.

Yelp
Expansive diner style menu with a lot of good vegetarian options. The milkshakes are also to die for.

Janice H.

Yelp
The food was good but nothing special... it was pricy and the portion sizes were on the smaller side. However, the service was good!

Yelp
Food runner slammed our plates, server never checked on us, no water refills, salad came at the end of dinner, check was handed to us before we could order desert or coffee. Went to front counter to pay the check, they said no, go back to table. I said no, that I would rather walk out then chase the server. I wish I had. EDIT: I will return because the food is creative and good. If the above was just a bad day, which happens, I will revise the review and rescore.

Yelp
A fave of locals and a def Case Western college kid hang, prices are fair, but the quality of the food served, and the total disregard for the visuals of plating, or aroma, just make this place really a zero, in my book. I tried the student recommendation: Meat pie with cheese. What arrived (see photo) was a deformed pierogi that looks like it melted down from being baked in a Chernobyl reactor. Very flavorless chunks of meat, and undercooked bits of onion, in enough bovine heroin, Muenster cheese, to trick the brain into edibility. Sadly there were no tricks to make edible the most dry and disgusting falafel balls, served in the appetizer size with some house dressing with too much tahina in a cheap plastic cup, on a greensless beat up white plate. There were dry areas with the unmoisturized mix in the balls! Gross. In my opinion, this is the kind of food that you serve to prisoners, people whom you don't like, and college kids with the munchies, whose hunger outstrips basic Darwinian tenants of survival of the fittest. Everything about this menu could be part of a fats lobbyists' dream musical for college male obesity : "Pump Up Da Fats! Pump da Schoolboyz." Tommy's has that 70's college hang look, with a few illustrations of dancing veggies atop one booth area to remind you that they should know what greens, very absent from their plates, should look like. With so many good options on this street, within walking distance, if you're entertaining eating here, and not stoned, this might be a good time to make a lifeline call to your GP, pediatrician, psychotherapist, spiritual leader, or sober BFF to talk you out of opening their front door. Out. [mic drop.]

Yelp
I have heard so much about this place that i wanted to try it out. They have something for everyone on your list including gluten fee, vegetarian, and vegan. We parked in the garage across the street which happened to be free today. Once my family arrived we were told an hour wait. Well no biggie for us, we just decided to check out the other shops along the street and they would notify us. Our actual wait turned out to be maybe 40 minutes top but we were seated at a table in the back near the restrooms. On our way back I noticed the enclosed dining booths and even they had their own T shirts for sale. Their menu is very extensive and it would be difficult to find something that someone wouldn't like. They range from appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pizza, grilled cheese and more. For a slight up charge you can order vegan cheese. Pretty much everything here is ala carte but their portion sizes more than make up for what you are paying. I decided to try one of their vegan falafels that contained veggies and baba ganoush and a side of steamed vegetables. My husband went with a bean/vegetable wrap with a side of fries. My daughter had a burger with the same steamed veggies I ordered and her boyfriend had the Curt burger that had mushrooms on it. I was saving room to try one of their desserts or shakes but once I saw the size of what we ordered I thought no way!! There's always next time. My falafel was very good and the large size of the steamed vegetables was perfect for me. Everyone else seemed pleased with their food selections. Our waitress was kind enough to give me recommendations to order take out for our son who is vegan and unable to be with us. No doubt about it the falafel I enjoyed was first on the list following my vegan banana bread. Doggie bags were given to us for those who couldn't finish. Service was outstanding and believe me this is one of the best places I've been to in the Cleveland area. If coming then make sure it is on a day where you are not rushed and have time to kill. It is indeed worth the wait. Located in the Coventry Village area, they have their own parking lot or as mentioned you can use the parking garage across the street.

Yelp
Can't go wrong at Tommy's. Large menu includes sandwiches, salads, veggie burgers, vegan and GF plates. You must share a platter of French fries. Today we got the spinach pies, tho the spinach was a dab on top that could be removed. The meal was delicious, and I brought half home. My spinach pie was the Fred....with hummus, tuna, baba, and mushrooms. My friend had the Greek salad, and she liked it as it disappeared. Lots of Greek food is on the menu, as well as some Mexican. Lots of yummy variety. Service was excellent. Reservations are not taken, and our wait was not long.

Yelp
Our family consists of a vegan, a vegetarian, and two omni's. So eating out can pose some challenges. But NOT at all at Tommy's! We stumbled on Tommy's while visiting the Cleveland area for a weekend Cav's game overnight stay. We ended up in the Cleveland Heights Coventry Village area on a whim to loiter a while at a coffee shop, and later in the afternoon moseyed by Tommy's. The outside is really inconspicuous. If we had not walked by the menu in the window, we may not have noticed Tommy's at all. But we love a good diner, and were TOTALLY CHAGRINED to see that Tommy's has an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu, as well as meat dishes! For being a fifty year old establishment, they truly have evolved with the times! Speaking of times, wait times for a table here can be long. On Sunday afternoon at around 1:30pm we put our name down for a table, and it was an hour and fifteen minute wait. But the menu was too alluring to pass up, so we waited it out. (Which wasn't hard to do, as Mac's Backs Paperback Books is right nextdoor, an EXCELLENT used book shop to peruse, purchase some great used finds, and pass the time.) When we did get our table, we were surprised how big the space inside was, it goes back further than expected. We were put in an adorable booth that was almost like it's own private room, very cozy-diner-swank. :-D Our server was friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was served accurately, and didn't take too long to come out. My husband had The Cigar, a generous corned beef sandwich on pita. He absolutely RAVED that it was the best corned beef sandwich he's ever had. And he's not a food-raver like me, so that's saying a lot! Our son had The Steph, also a meaty sandwich on pita, with ham, bacon and turkey. I'm the vegetarian, and went with The Delaney, which was basically a Reuben made with seitan! SO GOOD. Very tangy and flavorful, and very filling! Our daughter, the vegan, had The Wildflower, a chickpea salad sandwich with lots of sprouts and veggies on a pita. She was all smiles. We shared a basket of fresh cut fries, (all sides are ala carte), and it was plenty of food for all of us to be full and satisfied. But, when in Tommy's-Rome, you power through to dessert too, haha. My husband and our son split a cookies and cream milkshake, which one is plenty to split between two. Shakes can also be made vegan. But this time our vegan daughter had a sugar cookie. All of the cookies are vegan, and it was served warm and soft. I tried the carrot cake. It was a small piece of carrot bundt cake, just okay. Next time, I'll go for the vegan banana bread. Our total bill for a family of four with our hearty sandwiches, fries basket, hot teas for the hubbs and I, plus the hubbs had a phosphate egg cream, (kids chose water to drink), and all of our desserts was just under $70. In this day and age, that seemed pretty reasonable for how much we had, and how happy, comfortable, and dietary-accommodated we all were at Tommy's. We are from Buffalo NY, but make our way to Cleveland a handful of times a year for Cav's games, (go Bills, but we like basketball better, haha). When we're in the area, Tommy's is definitely on our list of re-visit restaurants. Excellent variety for vegans, vegetarians, and omni's alike, reasonable prices, comfortable space, great service, delicious food, what's not to love about Tommy's??!! :-D

Yelp
A unique menu with good, healthier food. Service was quick even though there was a wait to sit. Great clean vibe.

Yelp
One place my entire family all agrees on is Tommy's because they have something for everyone--even the vegans! Tommy's shakes and fries are a must order, every single time!

Paul V.

Yelp
Tommy's was fantastic! Great vegetarian options. We had a diverse group. My father and I had different versions of the falafel and both were dynamite. My mother got the Greek salad but was put off by vegan feta cheese. The server offered actual feta and mom was pleased. My MIL got the broccoli and brown rice. It was several meals for her. Great atmosphere in a cool part of town.

Yelp
What they do well: *The shakes. A Tommy's milkshake is a real treat. My favorite is the raspberry yogurt shake. It's tangy, creamy, fruity goodness. But seriously, every milkshake I have tried has been amazing. *The variety. It's a diner (and as NJ native, you know I love me a diner sized menu) with a selection for almost everyone - vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc. *The space. Huge dining area, could definitely accommodate a large party. Tons of plants. In summer of 2021 they had outdoor seating across the street as well, but that is now utilized by a new restaurant. *The (meat) burgers. Now, I don't eat meat so I can't say so myself, but my partner says it's one of the best beef burgers in Cleveland. He consistently gets the Curt Burger: a bacon cheeseburger topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. *The fries. It's a massive order - could easily share among 2-3. *The pickles. I'm serious, they're really good. What is lacking: *The vegetarian flavor. I have had the Tamale Platter, Falafel, Ceebee, Spinach Pie, Delaney, Tempeh Burger with and without cheese, Veggie Burger with and without cheese, and several other items. I have dined in and ordered out over the past two years. You can have healthy vegan and vegetarian food that is still flavor packed, and sometimes I'm sitting there wondering where is all the seasoning and complexity in my dish? So I tend to look on enviously at my meat eating friends as they munch on a non-whole wheat bun and I accept that I dine here more so for the convenience and fries than I do for my entree. But will I be back? ...Yes.

Char N.

Yelp
I had out of town company for the Thanksgiving weekend and we all wanted to go to Tommy's. Tommy reserved a table for 13 people for us on Saturday night. Everyone LOVED their food, their milkshakes and the entire experience. The upstairs worked out perfectly for us. With 8 adults and 5 kids, it's so hard to find a good choice -- especially with 5 vegetarians! They especially loved coming to Tommy's and seeing so many choices. Many thanks for your kindness. We'll all be back!

Yelp
Some people in Cleveland just want MONEY Some need a dude, and some want a HONEY Some people really seem to think they're FUNNY And end up on Yelp failing at being PUNNY Some are from Scotland, and they say BONNIE Some show their legs off, like Barbie and TAWNY But if they want a milkshake, there's only ONE-Y (what?) In Cleveland anyway, and it's here, from TOMMY! I need these shakes like Cher needed SONNY Like Man United needed Cristiano RONNIE Like Holding Out For A Hero by BONNIE Like Wang Chung stole their name from CONNIE Like Tron: Legacy was far too TRON-NY Like this biscuit tasted too SCONE-Y Like immigration said I was a COMMIE Come get the banana shake, or even the COFFEE Like some of my rivals cry to their MOMMY Like Jersey Delis make the best use of SALAMI Like I make a lot of other Yelpers look SCRAWNY Like dude was so lonely then along came POLLY Like come to my hotel, I will meet you in the LOBBY Like I prefer missionary so much over DOGGIE Like a night with Barbie where she ends up SLOPPY Come and get the best shake in town from TOMMY! What? Tommy used to work on the docks. Then he moved to "The Land" and opened a vegan and/or healthy restaurant with amazing milkshakes, so you could say he came up in the world. Better than coming up in me, which is expensive. In case you hadn't noticed: This review is for the Milkshakes. I'm not talking about Dairy Industry CEOs in Dubai (Milk Sheikhs), but that probably applies to you too. Salaam, brother. What to get: Banana shake, Chocolate mocha shake What not to get: Laid off from your job on the docks Since milkshakes are one of my favourite inventions in our galaxy, I can say with great authority that Tommy's makes some of the best tasting shakes you will try anywhere. I highly recommend you give them a try. I first tried Tommy's shakes on one of my very first "food tours" of Cleveland which must now (gasp) be nearly a decade (gasp) ago (gasp), and I loved it then. Granted, I loved a lot of things on those early tours, and then from subsequent trips and tries, some of the things closed down (sob), faded away (meh), changed owner (ew), or my tastes evolved (like, totes). Not this place. This place stood "le test" of "les times." After all this time, these spectacular vegan milkshakes are just as spectacular as they always were. Actually some of the best milkshakes in town without any doubt. Sometimes they have good service and sometimes the service is absolutely awful. Sitting in here is a lot nicer than I realized after so many times visiting, usually to get takeout. In fact, I don't think I set foot in here the first six or seven times I came here, because my ex used to run in and get the shakes for us while I washed - I mean watched - the car in an extremely illegal position right out front, he says, incriminating himself. I like it better this way. Coming inside, so to speak. In any case you won't get a better milkshake in Cleveland (and it's a city with some good shakes and some good dairy products), but this is the absolute best. So other than the price and the small portion size, Barbie agrees that these are some of the best shakes she's had anywhere. If you're skeptical due to the extremely hipster neighbourhood, well don't worry, I was too. And yes, this vegan-friendly menu is extremely Brooklancisco. But the milkshakes are what the robust and irksome Monsieur Fieri would describe as "The Real Deal." Speaking as someone who has had way too many milkshakes in his day, I can say that you won't find many that taste better than the ones here at Tommy's, and Gina agrees with me. Besides, any place that Bon Jovi sings about must be good. Tommy used to work on the docks Union went on strike He was down on his luck, so tough. So tough. Gina worked a diner all day Working to start her own business venture, She saved up her pay, For a down payment, for a down payment.. She said we've gotta open up our own shake place The only thing that matters is how good our shakes taste So delicious, will any go to waste? I think not! We'll serve lots of thots! Ohhhhh, we're halfway there Whoa-ho, Milkshakes With A Flair Name a shake and we'll make it I swear Whoa-ho, Milkshakes With A Flair And Coventry is where!

Yelp
As a vegetarian, this place is the absolute best. I know I'm getting quality food that aligns with my diet. The atmosphere is cool and the milkshakes are amazing. 10/10 recommend for anyone. They have great options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans! The service is always great, although they can get pretty busy at times.

Yelp
A Coventry classic restaurant for over 50 years. Fantastic vegetarian options, best french fries, addictive milkshake. Great food and staff.

Yelp
The milkshakes are "famous in the neighborhood." Tommie's is the go-to restaurant for locals, for breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Tommy, himself, is usually on the premises. Peaceful and friendly atmosphere. Quintessential Cleveland Heights. ...love, Loretta

Yelp
Tell me is a classic. Their milkshakes are in point their burgers are juicy and fabulous and they can accommodate people with all different types of food restrictions or diets. The staff is friendly there is plenty of seating and they also do takeout orders. Parking to be a little bit tricky at times but the walk is worth it. If you're in the Coventry area this is a must eat at restaurant.

Yelp
This place is an institution. Great food and great service. Parking is across the street unless you luck out on the street. Currently using the old Paninis patio. The actual restaurant is being used for pick up and take out orders. Milkshakes are legendary. Get one. The food is named for the person who ordered it. For the most part you cannot go wrong with anything. Fries can be shared for up to 3-4 people. Most everything is tastee. Portions good. Staff good too. Go here even if you eat meat! Get the Elaine or chicken you won't be sorry.

Yelp
French onion soup. Gluten free version is made without the bread or with gluten free bread. Deliciously cheesy.

Yelp
Tommy's is iconic and reliably consistent for good quality. I like dining in and ordering online for take out. There are so many great options. Try the French Onion soup- it's vegetarian and the absolute best. I love the toasted cheese sandwiches, great milkshakes, fries, and baba.

Yelp
Tommy's is a Cleveland institution. They're been around for years and years. Tommy has been serving amazing food all those years. World famous for their milkshakes. Their French Onion Soup is second to none. Broccoli Rizzo is outstanding. Hummus and Baba ganoush are what put Tommy on the map. I recommend you go to Tommy's early and often. There might get be a wait to get a table but it is absolutely worth the wait.

Yelp
Still in Cleveland on business and my customer took me here today. He tried telling me about this place, but I just couldn't picture what was going on. Lol, so here we are... Atmosphere/Appearance: So set in the Coventry Village district is this gem. It's on a main road so there's no actual parking lot, but there is street parking and a structure across the street. Once inside the door you pass the takeout section then it opens up into a dining area. You have to make a right to get to either section, but once you're there you can make another right into the front of the restaurant with tables and chairs or you can make a left to get to more open seating as well as booths. It was very busy, but wasn't too loud at all. Service: Karla took excellent care of us. She even under-promised and over-delivered when it came to my food. Lol. She was knowledgeable, sweet, quick and got us everything that we needed. Food: So... they have these things there called "Meat Pies". It's just one of the many things Tommy's is known for so I HAD to try one. I'm a big guy... and I be hungry so I was skeptical to how full one of these would make me when Karla described how big it was. I was truly surprised. I went with the "Gordon", which is a meat pie with cheese, lamb, onions, corned beef, BBQ sauce, mushrooms and veggies baked inside dough. It was absolutely fantastic. I was SO full and so satisfied. It was savory, rich in flavor and I didn't feel awful eating it. You know, it wasn't fried or baked in grease AND... it contained vegetables. Lol. Value: My meal was $11.00. It was so worth it and many of the things on the menu were just as inexpensive. I loved this place and I see why it's got the reputation that it has. I will certainly be back!

Yelp
Tommy's is a classic with a wide menu with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. I've tried several variations of the spinach pie, and my favorite is the spinach pie with cheese. They use Muenster cheese, which I thought was a little strange at first, but it works! No order is complete without an order of fries (large enough to share) and a milkshake (my favorite is moosetracks!). Tommy's is a great option for either a casual meal out or to order carryout.
