Visited Tom’s Dairy Freeze over the long weekend and, I had the butterscotch-dipped cone, the banana split. The butterscotch dip tasted a little artificial, but the vanilla ice cream inside was unbelievably good, so creamy, smooth, and full of flavor. The banana split was the standout though? fresh, sweet, and absolutely delicious. Service was quick and friendly, even with the long lines. Parking is very limited, and on weekends you can expect to wait about 20–30 minutes, but it’s totally worth it once you finally get your ice cream. Just remember, they’re cash-only, so come prepared. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the generous portions. Overall, Tom’s Dairy Freeze is a must-visit for ice cream lovers. I’d happily go back, especially for the banana split and that incredible vanilla ice cream.

Every time I drive by this spot there's always a 20-30 person line up. Was fortunate enough to drive by one day and saw only 2 people in line. Immediately turned in and found a spot. The joint has just a small town vibe I love it. The soft serve is outstanding. Tastes like real cream, probably the best soft serve I've had to date.

For 1.5 years I have been driving past this place in the summer time and noticed that the that the lines up are extremely long whether it a week day or weekend. I thought to myself their ice cream must be really good. My wife felt for some ice cream so we stopped by a Baskin Robins as we walk to the front door she said how about that ice cream place that you are always telling me about with the long line ups. I said yes, ok let’s go there instead. It was about 5 minutes drive down the road. I had a cone with 1 scoop of Pistachio ice cream and it was worth the wait, it didn’t disappoint. My wife had 2 scoops but, I scoop is enough of a serving. I highly recommend this ice cream shop if you don’t mind the wait. Please note that they only accept cash but there is an ATM outside the establishment.

Came by around 8 PM and grabbed a twisted cone and wow, you can really tell they know how to make great ice cream! It was super creamy and smooth, not icy like what you sometimes get from fast food chains or ice cream trucks. You can taste the quality in every bite. My friends and I always enjoy their ice cream, even in the colder weather. Definitely one of our go-to spots!

I pass by Tom’s Dairy Freeze often during my runs but never had cash on me to stop. One day after a long run, I finally planned ahead, carried some cash, and went with friends. I tried their banana split and also got a chocolate-dipped cone with peanuts – both were such a treat, especially after a run. The portions are generous, the ice cream is rich, and the toppings really make it feel special. It’s cash only, so make sure to plan ahead, but honestly, the experience was worth it. A lovely spot to reward yourself a nd hang out with friends after a busy day!

Tom’s dairy freeze has the greatest ice cream I’ve ever had. Their hard scoops are flavourful and rich, especially pistachio! But I am a great fan of banana split with all the items on there and a little bit of hard chocolate shelling! Yes it’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it

The ice cream at Tom’s Dairy Freeze is really good. The only suggestion I have is to add an ATM on site, because we waited in line and only found out at the counter that they accept cash only. Other than that, it is a great place and I definitely recommend it.

Ever since I have read an article about this place, it has been on my to-do list for the summer. Finally, on a very hot Saturday in August, my family and I stopped here to get some summer treats. Being around this place felt like going back in time- warm sunshine, lots of smiles, and yummy ice cream. As we were going to be eating dinner in about two hours, we decided to order something small. My mom and my cousin each ordered hard ice cream (one scoop) in a cone- my mom picked mint chocolate chip and my cousin chose Dutch chocolate. I ordered a soft serve ice cream (vanilla, small) in a cone and added a flavour burst (rainbow). After a few minutes, our order was called and it was time to eat! The ice creams were larger than what we expected, which was a nice surprise! My mom and my cousin shared that the hard ice cream was creamy and smooth. I also enjoyed my ice cream- it was also creamy and smooth. Plus, I enjoyed a small touch of colour swirling around the ice ream, how fun! A lovely place to drop by if you're in the area! We had a great time! Note: This place is cash-only!

Good soft serve, and hits the spot on a hot day. The lines get long, especially in the evening, but they move quickly. Parking is tight, so be ready to circle or park a little further. Keep in mind that it's cash only.

I had a banana split for lunch at Tom's Dairy Freeze on the Queensway ... because it's 20C/68F and sunny and I just did a 2 hour line dancing class in a hot gym. It was fun but the whipped cream was kinda lame.

Quick service, and a delicious cone. No complaints on my end! The cash only aspect can be a bit of a hindrance, especially if you're an out-of-tower, but I understand the reasoning behind it. I love the old-timey feel of this place, it's like stepping back into time!

It goes without saying that Tom's Dairy Freeze is a classic summertime spot for a cold sweet treat, especially during a heatwave, and butterscotch-dipped cone hit the spot! Not many places do butterscotch flavored anything, some may even call it an old-person flavor, but I think it's such an underrated flavor. It's ice cream with a golden hard shell of sweet, buttery, caramel-y goodness. They have long lineups and they're cash only, so don't forget to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated there!

Decent GO station with plenty of parking -- a huge plus! There's also a Walmart and Costco with gas pumps nearby, along with lots of smaller shops and food spots right next door. It's a convenient one-stop park and shop that saves a ton of time. Overall, an excellent GO station!

I got the regular twist soft serve cone and I didn't think it was anything unique compared to what you can get from ice cream trucks. Maybe next time I will try the flavoured ones.

I'm not sure why this place is hyped up and has such high reviews. The ice cream is very standard and average, the soft serve ice cream similar to Dairy Queen or McDonald's. The blue colour dip wasn't good. I liked the chocolate with chocolate dip.

The peanut butter dipped ice cream is pretty unique and the rainbow colored cone is perfect for the 'gram! Unfortunately it's a seasonal spot, so even if you're craving ice cream in the dead of winter, you'll have to wait until spring for Tom's to open back up.

I've heard such great things about this ice cream place located on the west end of Toronto and finally made the trip out to try. It was quite a hot day so there was a bit of a wait outside. We waited for about 15-20 mins. We got the iconic rainbow flavour burst and the blueberry vanilla dipped cones. It was so cool that every bite of the rainbow flavour burst was a different flavour. Both cones were so delicious - it was the perfect treat for a hot summer day. Definitely will be coming back again before the bend of the summer.

What I had: - small soft serve ice cream cone (with blue goo cotton candy burst & sprinkles) $5.8 Taste: 4.5/5 I loved that there were many flavours and toppings to choose from. The ice cream was pretty nice and smooth. Vibe: 4/5 There was outdoor seating next to the store. It was nice to enjoy your ice cream there. And I loved the iconic giant billboard. It was a nice photo spot. Service: 4/5 Servers were nice and friendly.

The Best Spot for a Chocolate-Vanilla Twist with Sprinkles! Tom's Dairy Freeze is hands down the best spot in town for a classic treat! If you're a fan of a chocolate-vanilla twist, this is the place to go - it's always perfectly swirled and topped with generous sprinkles. The soft-serve is creamy and flavorful, and they don't skimp on the toppings!

another GREAT/similar ice cream spot on lakeshore and dixie.... joined the 2000's; got an interact/debit machine!?!! imagine that!? if you are still cash only in 2024; u aren't paying proper taxes or super cheap and won't pay the fee for the machine... who has cash anymore!? and paying a fee at their ATM is weak; cost me extra to inconvenience myself!?

Solid spot for some good old fashioned soft serve. Not going to blow you away but it's a summer staple that gets the job done well.

Cash only local ice cream joint. I believe they make their own soft serve ice cream. I got their small strawberry- soft serve ice cream in a clone for 4.85$ with tax. Didn't feel like taking back 15 cent change, so I told them to keep it. Quality: Above ice cream truck quality, but nothing amazing. I would not pay 5$ for this again. One is the best old fashion Ice cream joints . Always very busy , due to this they don't need to worry about pricing . They have really raised their prices last last few years and that has cut down our visits , was better when they served food and not just dairy products

Just reminiscing about Tom's. I'm looking forward to the next season already. My favourite is the chocolate dipped ice cream. I've been switching back and forth between rice crispy topping and pecan. So yummy

They have alot of fun options but I was disappointed the softserve didn't taste any different than regular softserve after you finish your burst of flavour its just plain boring vanilla ice cream that's not really rich Cash only. Good thing I had change on me or else I would of been extremely upset. We are in a pandemic where most transactions are tap restaurants make you look at menus on your phone and you're only taking cash The burst flavors that I tried were green apple, maple, and coffee, the coffee was my least favorite I thought it was gross, the green apple tasted good it is sour almost like sour candy, and the maple was just perfect delicious. ... But again once you lick off the flavors it's just basic vanilla ice cream pretty boring

Love the concept of this place! Cute retro vibes, nice location, walk through window... I got the instagram popular rainbow soft serve. I love how the different colours had different flavours. Definitely makes me want to go back to try all the colours. Depending how you eat it, you can get the flavours through the whole icecream. Portion and quality for the price is generous! So worth getting a cone here, if you can tolerate the wait the menu on Ubereats is not the same. In store has way more variety

There isn't much for me to say, but it's good local ice cream. But nothing special. It's a great place to go to if you live in the area. I love soft swerve and got the rainbow twist, but I couldn't really taste any of the flavors, so... it was just decent soft serve. Not gonna lie, I came here for the gram and drove 30 minutes (not worth cuz gas be pricey rn). Basically on par with Dairy Queen.

This is a famous old-fashion ice cream place that has been around since 19696. We've never been here before because of the long lineups (although some people say the line moves quickly). Their softserve ice cream has real cream instead of the ice milk that most places use. We had the Brownie Delight ($7.00) and Rainbow Burst (medium $4.55). Both were good. Service is courteous and fast. The Rainbow Burst is ready in 30-40 secs. They have cones, sundaes, parfaits, and milkshakes. You can order pints of their ice cream via Ubereats. They also serve food like hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, onion rings. NOTE: They only accept cash. There is an ATM on site but you'll probably be charged a hefty service charge. There is a parking lot onsite that can hold about 10 cars. There is free WiFi. There are no customer washrooms. It is accessible. During pandemic times, the lineups have far fewer people. The line is marked off in 2 metre distances. They turn off the free WiFi because you are not supposed to hang around, even to eat. There are plenty of picnic tables roped off to the side.

We checked out this place after it was being hype over instagram. We tried the rainbow twist and a regular twist. The rainbow twist had hidden flavours inside and the regular twist taste like anywhere else. Was a little disappointed by the cone.

Pretty average soft serve ice cream, wouldn't say it's worth the long line ups in the summer though. When I came here we were told to order on their site and just pick up the soft serve ice cream after. Ordering was so confusing, couldn't even make customizations to my order and had to call the store for assistance. Felt like this took way longer than it should've and they only accept PayPal. This spot is definitely overhyped, soft serve is pretty much average, and nothing special. Can say I've now finally tried the infamous toms dairy freeze but probably won't make the drive to come back since I don't live in the area.

If you have the opportunity to dodge the long line ups. It's an wonderful place grab some ice cream and milkshakes. I can't speak for the hot items but their cold ones are delicious! Customizable to your heart's content. Got the extra thick milkshake with butterscotch. It was delicious. I love the retro feel, we don't have those anymore. Just remember to carry Cash!

Tom's Dairy Freeze usually has very long lineups, so when we saw only a couple of people waiting one day, we decided to try them out. I got their infamous Flavour Burst Cone, and my brother got a classic French Vanilla scoop in a Waffle Cone. Both were good, and reminded me of the icecream you get from an icecream truck (ah, memories..). They definitely are a little on the less-sweeter side, but make for VERY insta-worthy pictures! Make sure you have cash, otherwise there is an ATM located on the property. Massive menu to satisfy your sweet tooth. Been here twice already and it's been a 5 star experience since. Just a heads up, if you start lining up after the sidewalk curves, you may be looking at around 15-25 min wait. Cash only but there's an ATM machine on property. Perfect soft serve formula that doesn't melt that quick so you can get your pictures in. I got greedy with a blueberry dipped medium cone and it was extremely heavy. Second time I went for a small slushie float - filling and generous portions but just enough. A good change from your typical McDonald and Dairy Queen soft serve.

Good soft serve, but wasn't very special. I waited 20+ mins in line and got the flavour burst. I liked it but could've gotten something similar from Costco or McDonald's just down the road. Will chalk up this visit to hyped up expectations and will go back with a more objective mindset.

I love this place Especially on a hot summers day. This place is a nice repose from the heat in Toronto, The only negative I can truly find and I've been going here for decades. Is the long line ups given how popular they are, so plan on a wait and If you want my advice get the banana split.

A Toronto landmark, Tom's Dairy Freeze has the best classic soft serve in the city. Kids love the rainblow flavour burst and fancy dipped cones, but your best bet is the sundaes made with lots of real fruit. Another under the radar hit are the slush floats, like a creamsicle only better. A true summer tradition. Cash only.

Love the sundae, never had soft serve like Tom's! It wasn't overly sweet, super creamy, and it seem to not melt as fast as other soft serve. Ordered the small strawberry and a hot fudge sundae, wish I ordered a bigger size. Will be coming back for more.

Stopped by here on the way home from niagara. Ice cream was good and line was long! It's a really popular place! Definitely recommend a try, however I wouldn't go out of my way to come here and it's pretty far from where i live.

The food is great they have a lot to offer and the area is great it is the best in the area and everyone knows about it for a good reason, I recommend!

Decent ice cream but nothing special. I got the rainbow burst soft serve and I could barely taste the different flavours/ there's not enough syrup on the ice cream. It did look very pretty though. We also ordered a chocolate milk shake and it tasted like melted ice cream instead of a thick shake.

Classic soft server ice cream! It was a hot summer day and my boyfriend wanted ice cream so we went and tried the butterscotch sundae. Wow it was sweet and if you like that sort of thing you will enjoy it. Cool experience that makes you feel like you are back in the 1960s.

Overall solid spot for some ice cream. Tom's is an old-fashioned diner-like establishment reminiscent of the mom-and-pops of the 70s. Though the prices aren't at 70s levels, they sure are somewhere between the 90s-early-00s. If there is one thing this place does, it's ice cream - and they definitely do it right. It's pretty hard to find a solid soft-serve nowadays that is reasonably priced (save McDonald's), but Tom's definitely has that, and a lot more. Tom's has a variety of large flavours for soft-serve, hard scoop, sundaes, milkshakes, soft-serve dips and more. I got a medium peanut-butter dipped vanilla soft serve for just under $4 and it was excellent. The soft serve was smooth and creamy (I'd say it's creamier than MCD's but less creamy than Costco's) but not overwhelmingly sweet. The peanut-butter dip was provided a nice nutty contrast to the perpetual vanilla flavour of the ice cream.

Revisited on a summer day and expected there would be a line! Honestly, i dont mind lining up when its not sweating hot and sunny. It gives u an opportunity to make conversation while lining up, it can still be fun. Plus good things take time lol What we ordered: Cookie monster Orange float Rainbow flavour burst I had the cookie monster, and tbh, it was a little disappointing. Last time i had the flavour burst and it totally featured the rich creamy soft serve with a hint of different flavours. Cookie monster was a blueberry dipped cone covered in oreo cookies, and sadly, all that covered up the flavours of the soft serve. I wasnt too impressed. Another miss for trying new things lol my original plan was to try their frozen yogurt, but he said it wont be available until another two weeks. Bummer! The wait was around 30-40mins at 8ish pm on a weekday. As we were licking our ice creams on the benches, so many people in line was asking if its worth the line up. I can yet tell until i try more thing on the menu! But I definitely recommend the flavour burst!

Worth the wait! This place is Basically a fancy Dairy Queen :) lots of flavours and toppings to choose from and cones look good and insta worthy. The milkshakes are good too and not too sweet. The only bummer is that it's cash only. Especially after Covid and when most places don't even have cash anymore it's a huge inconvenience and deters me from coming here more often.

Tom'a Dairy has great soft serve and is well worth the wait!! I usually get vanilla cone dipped in chocolate or peanut butter, and have always been happy with those choices. The soft serve is very creamy and doesn't have that floury / corn starch base that McDonalds etc have. I tried the butterscotch dip, but didn't enjoy it as much as the Peanut Butter (my favourite) or the chocolate. The twist is ok, but there is something about a vanilla soft serve that chocolate takes away from. I tried the Oreo thick milkshake & did not find it that special. I have also tried the hot fudge sundae with nuts. The hot fudge sundae was good, but the soft serve cone can't be beaten for price and experience! Stick to the basics when ordering here and enjoy REAL ice cream!

Wait in line for 30 mins for the same ice cream you can get at any average ice cream shop. Then they make you pay cash. Yet they offer online ordering which means they do take credit cards at some point in their remote ordering process. Oh and pay extra for cones. Why are people obsessed with this place???

Warning they accept cash only! Amazing quality and insane portion size. Got two scoops of icecream (each scoop was size of a baseball) and the banana split. Two of us barely managed to finish it all.

What are the best ice cream places in the cities hands down!! Totally worth the drive! Nice young women that work at the front desk! I highly highly recommend the ice cream sandwiches, which I get through Uber eats all the time! And I'll even drive to the place!! Worth a line up worth the wait!!

Tom's is now open for window service! (But only ice cream). Alongside their tubs of take out. I love that Tom's has adapted to the situation as is taking the necessary precautions. There are clearly marked sanctions, lines, and signage for social distancing and hand sanitizer at the ice cream pick-up window. They're still doing cash only though as it's been for years, so keep that in mind for your next visit!

Oh my Lord. The BEST slushies and soft-serve you will find in Etobicoke. The workers are friendly, service is good and quick. It's also a super cute, old fashioned structure. That being said, it isn't great having to eat outside on the Queensway, as it's super loud and smelly, but it's definitely worth it! My only real complaint would be the obscenely long lines, but those lines are long for good reason!! Would definitely recommend if you live/are visiting the area. 5/5, would recommend!!!

I'd like to keep this a secret for selfish reasons. If no one knows, I don't have to line up. I'd be beside myself if I have to line up at another popular place. Please keep these hidden gems, hidden.

This place is definitely the place To go for ice cream! The line does go by quickly so don't let that deter you' The classic photo worthy or secret menus are Cookie Monster - soft serve dipped in blue raspberry then rolled in Oreos cookie crumbs Rainbow Burst.! This is the one you see the most and it's heavenly!!! It's a soft serve with all the flavour they have currently and the list is up at where you place your order. What I'm having is the vanilla soft serve dipped in cherry ! But rainbow burst is definitely still my Fav!

The soft serv here is really good! Creamy and tasty. I got mine vanilla dipped in blue raspberry and for the first few bites it was awesome then after the dip hardened, couldn't taste the dip flavour as much. I tried my friend's twist dipped in peanut butter dip, and I think I prefer that one. Although in the future I'd probably just get the twist cone without any dip, in order to savour the soft serv taste. Besides ice cream, we also got food! My friends got the twin burger and they weren't the biggest fans. Burger was too tough. They enjoyed the fries but I don't think I'd get the fries next time. I'm more of the costco/ikea fries type (super crispy and thick cut). The fries at Toms were more chewy and dense. I ordered the fish burger and it was served on a large kaiser. It was ok. Definitely very filling. Come for the soft serv!

One the better soft ice cream I have had. The ice cream is super creamy with a cold vanilla taste. Really good.
