By far the best local sushi spot in Davis/Weber county!! From the appetizers, rolls, desserts and extras! Very flavorful! It’s always great service! You’re lucky if you get CINDY, she’s the one of the best!! Make sure you take the time and stop to and grab a bite to eat you will not regret it!!

Google
I'm going to say that the service was extra fabulous! Her name is Jaycee and she's out of this world! She pulled her phone out and showed us dining options as the menu lacks photos. She explained what was the different rolls were, she kept the drinks coming, and she is friendly, personable, and professional. The atmosphere was very appropriate for the meal; however, if you're treating grandma, you might want to bring a cushion. The food, we ate it all. 😋 We'll be back. The pricing ($$$)

I was impressed with Tona. I ordered the Escolar-Cilantro roll. I was impressed with the presentation and rank it one of the best I have seen. The roll was very good and fresh. The atmosphere was elegant and the server was good. One of the best sushi places I have been to.

I can't think of anywhere in Utah that I've had better sushi. Everything we ate was incredible. Pricey, but so worth it. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching the chefs work. Great service and atmosphere as well. But a long wait, so I will call ahead next time to get on the waitlist before we arrive.

We had a perfect birthday lunch!! Everything was delicious, fresh, and out in a timely manner. Our server, Cindy was adorable, patient, and incredibly helpful! She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. I would especially recommend the “Pinky and the Green” roll and the “Surf and Turf” roll. Thanks Tona! ◡̈

Tona has by far the best sushi in the state! Nothing ever comes close to the wonderful atmosphere, service, and the outstanding flavors of the dishes they offer! We have never been disappointed in the 12 years we have been going to Tona! It is so unique and nothing like anything else around! It is in my top 2 favorite places to eat!

If there’s a hidden portal to another dimension of flavor, we found it in the heart of Ogden, Utah. Stumbling upon this sushi restaurant was like discovering an uncharted star in the galaxy—completely unexpected, yet illuminating in every way. We began with an oyster shooter—a celestial explosion of briny freshness, balanced with a touch of citrus and spice, as if the ocean itself whispered its secrets into the glass. The gyoza were little pockets of pure bliss, pan-seared to perfection. The yellowtail sashimi was a revelation—silky, buttery, and melting on the tongue like stardust. But then came the torched scallops, each bite igniting our taste buds with smoky richness, as if a shooting star had just blazed across the night sky. The chicken teriyaki was comfort food glazed in a sauce so perfectly balanced it defied the laws of taste physics. But the highlight of the evening? The ahi and apple sashimi—a daring combination that transported us straight to the culinary stratosphere. The tart crispness of the apple against the velvety ahi created an otherworldly contrast we never knew we needed (which was recommended by our waitress). For dessert the cheesecake so divine Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness—it was the perfect ending to a meal that defied gravity. And while the food was out of this world, the service was equally stellar. Our waitress, Cindy, was nothing short of phenomenal—attentive, knowledgeable, and radiating warmth. Meanwhile, the host, Emma B, had the toughest job but handled it with grace, offering water and complimentary drinks and snacks as we waited for our table during the restaurant’s peak hours. This place is a top-tier, must-visit gem. A random find? Yes. But an unforgettable one. If you ever find yourself in Ogden, this sushi spot will take your taste buds to the stars and beyond.

Google
Ordered $150 of sushi and had hair in the tuna for the green globe. They were willing to refund the one roll however this isn’t individual pieces of fish. It’s minced and in a a bowl. I had more than one roll made with the same tuna. Took several minutes of arguing with the manager to get the second roll refunded. Customer service was lacking. Hopefully the chefs wash their hair frequently. Grossed out and didn’t eat the rest of our food.

Yelp
Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Best of State for a reason! I had the pleasure of trying out Tona for the first time after sampling their delicious flavors at the Best of State party in 2023. It did not disappoint. Our wait was a bit longer than expected since they do not take reservations on Friday and Saturdays, but overall it wasn't too bad. Once we sat down, the service was quick and seamless. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2 appetizers and 7 rolls to share. Everything tasted so good and fresh! Can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
I don't make it up to Ogden often, but I was lucky enough to get a table here this time. The sushi was great with plenty of flavor. I was most impressed with the Grinch roll, that definitely caught me off guard in the best way. I can definitely see how this restaurant has won so many awards. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and I wish we could have made a reservation or joined a virtual waitlist, but otherwise the decor was nice, our meal came out quickly and the flavors were fresh.

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and quick and to bring drinks, recommend dishes for what we were in the mood for, and didn't ever make us feel rushed. Love Tona!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Love this place! Very chill vibes up front, but in the back they have a really cute traditional set up where the tables are on the ground and you have cushions to sit on. The service was really great. Very attentive and nice! Now the food was really good! I loved all the different rolls they offered and the appetizers were fantastic! I will warn you though, it's definitely on the pricier side. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Definitely need a reservation, especially on the weekend. Waited about an hour without one. It was really busy with a crowd of people and the space between tables are tight. There was a little wait for the food but well worth it. The sushi rolls are pricey, but they're pretty big. This is more fine dining than casual and the price reflects that. So expect dropping at least a $100 for a couple people. I used to work there so I know the owners are about quality and have never been disappointed in a meal there. Our server was nice enough. She told me of birthday specials, so look out for that. Also the cheesecake is made in house, so I recommend it for dessert.
google avatar

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, ingredients taste so fresh and they have so many fun rolls! Attention to service certainly depends on who you get but everyone is very nice. Super cool sitting area.

Yelp
Sushi was great. Service was fast with solid recommendations from the menu. Pleasantly surprised all around! Right on the Main Street of Ogden. Would come back!

Yelp
Good friends suggested we meet at Tona for dinner and it was fantastic. I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried a few different rolls which were all excellent. I choose the salmon teriyaki roll and avocado roll and was really happy with them both. The rolls were beautifully made and the ingredients had amazing flavor. I tried a few of my companions rolls as well - which had actual raw fish as opposed to mine - and they were all great. We got the Purple Haze sake and it was lovely. We split the cheesecake for dessert and it did not disappoint. It was light, creamy and full of flavor.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place enough. Only complaint is they close at 230. I am off at 3. I'd love to come after work everyday and they're closed.

Yelp
I didn't expect world class sushi in Ogden, UT but here it is. Service was over the top. Clean. Fresh. Inventive. Just delicious
google avatar

Yelp
In my dining experiences over the past few years, this is the best sushi in the state. They continue to deliver fresh ingredients, inventive menu options, and friendly service. Tona has been and continues to be one of the most significant forces in a fun 25th Street experience.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
My service and ambiance was amazing, I was walking around downtown and wanted sushi so I stopped by Tona. It was my first time here, it was pretty busy but they were able to sit me because it was just me. I was told that this is one of the best sushi restaurant in the state and nation :)

Yelp
We've been here twice now and it's so fun to try their different rolls. It's sushi with a twist! The restaurant itself is small and it fills up fast. The servers have been great to recommend their favorite rolls when we've asked them, and they've had good recommendations. We loved the Sweet Pea. It was sweet and spicy and very fresh tasting. We loved the Black Jack, and the Poke Roll was also amazing. The Grinch was fun to try but not amazing, and same with the coconut crunch. We've tried probably 12 different rolls here and had amazing service both times. It's fun to try new things that you wouldn't think of with sushi, but it's also more expensive than other sushi places we like and the portion sizes seem smaller. If you're in the area check it out.

Yelp
Watch for the specials written on the white board behind the sushi bar. You'll find fresh, meticulously made masterpieces. I recommend the 4- piece nigiri because it's usually the best cuts of fish with creative sauces, unique garnishes and flavors. The other hot item is the Langostino (lobster-like) roll. There's only 4 pieces but they're filling. It's very complex, creamy spicy roll with tomatoes, cucumbers, roe... so many ingredients. I watched it being made. Lots of details. Elegant but hearty. Awesome! This is the reason this is one of the best Japanese restaurants on the Wasatch. Exceptional service. Busy place and just comfortable enough to hold you there so you want to try more items. Be careful!

Yelp
Everything about this experience was great. We surprisingly got a seat over on the left side of the building, which has semi traditional Asian seating and is more private. The ambiance and quietness of this area was phenomenal. Our server was very attentive, kind, and checked in regularly. I ordered a hot lava roll and the sake toro nigiri. The food trickled out plate by plate and the nigiri came first. This fish was absolutely delicious. I was tempted to order another plate. The hot lava roll was also very good. I finished it off with a bowl of miso soup which was really just a nice finale to top it all off. This is honestly is the best sushi in Ogden.

Yelp
I found myself on Ogden, just me and my 12 year old son. We were hungry so I asked him what he wanted and he suggested sushi. I'd never been to Tona so we thought we'd give it a try. Seated promptly at the bar on a Tuesday night, place was fairly crowded. For starters we ordered the shrimp tempura and vegetables which was quite good, and the Asian ribs that my son loved. Nice start to the meal. They brought us a nice damp warm towel with the ribs which was a nice touch, but only one even though everything is supposed to be family style. I let my son use it which was nice and kept him clean after eating the very yummy, fall off the bone, ribs. But two warm towels would have been better. 4/5 The first roll we received was the sunshine, one of my favorites and it was really good. We both gave it two thumbs up. 5/5 Sweet Pee, snowcrab, lime, cucumber, topped w/avocado, jalapeno, honey, seven spice. I hadn't tried honey on a roll before and was interested to see if the sweet honey and jalapeño would work together. Not so much, it felt mismatched to me. 3/5 Coconut Crunch yellowtail, fresh pineapple, panko fried w/coconut crust, topped w/snow crab salad and chili garlic sauce. I was leery as I don't usually prefer fried rolls but thought my son might like it. We both didn't care for it at all. You couldn't really taste any of the featured flavors, no pineapple, no coconut, just fried crunchy not sure what. 1/5 And then we received the bill $120 with tip for three rolls almost $20 each, and two appetizers. I could have gone to Takashi for less and better sushi. Possibly my roll selection could have been better, but what they served was not worth the money. Having some buyer's remorse here.

Yelp
Best sushi in the state. Their sashimi spoons (technically off menu) are a curated bite of happiness. Would highly recommend as an avid foodie.
google avatar

Carrie Q.

Yelp
We love everything about Tona, the ambience, the food, and the people. The Asian ribs are to die for, and we love the Green Globe, Caterpillar roll, and Brad roll. We actually love too many things to mention. It's a definite go to! Yum!
google avatar

Carole W.

Yelp
The reviews were right, great sushi, great atmosphere and excellent service. We had the green monster, cherry blossom nigiri, all super fresh. I highly recommend this spot when in Ogden. I tried the sake sampler, fun to taste the different styles of saki. It was so good we are going to try and get in tonight, Saturday, they don't take reservations on Fridays and Saturdays, Thursday they do.

Yelp
I reserved a table here by phone and when I arrived I got told they couldn't find my name and I would have to wait for the next table available. It was a Wednesday night and it was full. I got seated shortly after, and ordered and our food took what felt forever to arrive. A couple of the dishes were nice and the fish quality was good as well but for the flavor on the salad and the tuna it felt lackluster as well with one of the desserts. Our waiter was kind but he didn't really check on us and was kind of seen standing around. The ambiance is really loud and noisy and feels like you're at a pub which doesn't really add up with the price and the decor.
google avatar

Anthony B.

Yelp
It's pretty solid for lunchtime. The food was great, although the portions were a tad smaller than expected based on price. Water seems to come without ice and they have paper straws. Bathrooms are clean and have good toilet paper.
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten Sushi all over this country. The sushi here was an experience! It brought smiles to our faces. We would pause and comment on so many aspects. Never talked that much about food! The service was absolutely exceptional! It has to be one of the top sushi places we've been to.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Holy cow. If you've got more money than you know what to do with, this place is where you need to go. I've been to Tona other times and could only afford to split an appetizer and get one roll. Went away feeling like it was just so-so. Then my friend got a $200 gift card and we went with the plan to order everything we wanted. And boy did it make the experience SO much better! These chefs are awesome. The flavors and the textures are everything. We sat out back on the patio and it was a whole vibe. We enjoyed it so much and went away happy and satisfied. 4 stars because I wish it was more affordable for the average person.
google avatar

Jack T.

Yelp
Holy moly. Glad a friend suggested I drive allllll the way to Ogden for this tasty goodness. The rolls were next level amazing! I've been dreaming of going back since last week, next time I'm up north I will be making a special pit stop here.
google avatar

Neil M.

Yelp
Food is amazing and I love the ambiance of being downtown in Ogden UT. The service is always delightful .

Todd L.

Yelp
A lot of better sushi places in Utah in terms of quality, and the service here is abysmal. It is always full due to the location, and the service staff simply doesn't care about you as a customer. The kitchen staff definitely go above and beyond with presentation, but .... That's about the only positive I can point out.
google avatar

Woods L.

Yelp
If you want great food and an authentic experience go to Tonas. The sushi is the best in Ogden. You can always stroll down 25th Street to see the other shops before or after. I had the best Yellow Fin Tuna here!. You can sit at a booth or you can sit at an oriental-style table. The servers are great. This is a popular place so don't be surprised if you show up and there is no seating.

Amy M.

Yelp
Delicious. Kind and helpful service. So great. The cilantro roll was a flavor explosion. I love spicy and I got a spicy roll and....it was intense.

Mike D.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Amazing ambiance and service. On our visit we tried a number of dishes and especially enjoyed a few. The Gyoza was probably the best we've ever had. The Tuna Pineapple was also fantastic. For the sushi rolls themselves, we had mixed reviews but the favorites were the Jack and Tuna Cilantro. Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Sad that they wouldn't seat a table of 6 teenagers. They had a table immediately that miraculously disappeared as soon as they saw it was a table of 15 year olds.

Ali W.

Yelp
It's my go to spot. Everything on the menu is amazing. Ask about the secret menu if you get daring. Coconut crunch is my favorite roll.

Susan V.

Yelp
very good food, customer service, but very crowded! make a reservation ahead of time-like days before you go and be ready to spend more than the usual sit-down restaurant price, but well worth it!

Deb H.

Yelp
The food, a ramen soup was so delicious!! mine had tofu and my husband's had beef and both were so tasty! our server was so knowledgeable about the menu! she was delightful! We will definitely be back!!
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
It was pretty good. The food was good. It was our first time there and we felt rushed by our waitress. So probably we would have ordered more food and drinks but didn't know all the standard protocol so we just wanted to get our check and leave. We got there right after they opened on a Saturday and were seated in the private area to the left. The Agadashi tofu was excellent as were the Gyoza dumplings. The rolls we ordered (firecracker and the avocado ball thing were unremarkable. 3/5 for food quality, 3/5 for ambiance, 3/5 for service, and 2/5 overall experience cost relative to value.
google avatar

Van V.

Yelp
Solid Japanese! Crispy tempura vegetables. Tender calamari. Traditional miso. Bold sushi and sashimi. Approved! ;)

Peter N.

Yelp
Great food but had to wait 40 minutes for first roll. Saw numerous other people order after us and get their food before us. Be willing to spend at least 2 hours waiting for 4 rolls or so...
google avatar

Harper R.

Yelp
Tona is hands down the best Sushi restaurant in Utah (some would argue Takashi, they are close but I think Tona takes the win). There sashimi options and carpaccio options are out of this world. Service is incredible, I highly recommend if you are looking for Sashimi/Nigiri or carpaccio. The fish is really fresh, literally melts in your mouth. Rolls are great too!! I don't waste belly room on rolls at Tona because the raw stuff is just SO good.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Jordan is amazing! Great service and amazing sushi. We tried Sake and it wasn't the best but worth the experience!
google avatar

Alejandro E.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Ogden. Sushi or not, this is it. Everything was excellent. The spoons of raw fish were amazing. They had a monthly butternut version which hit hard. You can tell in every bite that the fish is fresh. We ordered quite a few rolls from the blizzard, avalanche, and much more. I had a price of each and each were excellent. Awesome choices of sake, and great dessert. You HAVE to have the cheesecake if you have space after dinner. The enviable is nice especially if you sit in the back room floor style away from the large crowd. There is usually a wait to be seated but it's worth it. Enjoy!

Jane C.

Yelp
Took my family here when they were in town visiting. I loved the recommendations the waitress offered. Everything was fresh, delicious and at a great price point. It wasn't very busy or loud but one of the waitresses was talking to guests like she was at a loud bar and chatting for 5-10 mins per table. I had secondhand embarrassment. Other than that 10/10.
google avatar

Jamie U.

Yelp
The sushi here was absolutely delicious! I'm looking forward to coming back here. The service was good and so was the atmosphere.
google avatar

Caitlin N.

Yelp
Tona is liiiffffeeee--literally! As California natives and Japanese food fanatics, my husband and I were skeptical of all sushi places when we moved to Utah (where's the ocean?!?!). It wouldn't be until a few months after we moved to the N. Ogden area that we would try Tona and honestly, our lives have not been the same since. Their fish is so fresh, their menu has a wide range of options, and it's overall so amazing. Whether you takeout or dine in, the food is always fantastic. Our typical order includes: - The chef's nigiri sushi sampler special - Sunburn roll - Kamikaze roll If we're feeling like we can eat more food, we'll opt in for their bluefin toro sashimi (when available) and their oyster shooters. Love you, Tona!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Tona is by far the best sushi I've ever eaten, and I've had sushi from all over the world. Land-locked in Ogden Utah, you will find Tona on Historic 25th St. serving the best in Japanese fusion. There is no bad choice on the menu, the service is outstanding, and the hospitality is top-shelf! Do yourself a favor and take the time to eat at Tona, you will only regret it if you don't do it!
google avatar

Paige T.

Yelp
Rounded up to 4 stars. Clearly a popular spot in Ogden, as it was full around 5:45 when I picked up my order. Beautiful, clean space, but loud (glad I got takeout!) The seaweed salad was excellent, and the kamikaze roll was generously-sized and tasted very fresh. It was a bit strange that some of the nigiri were slightly seared. On the whole, expensive for what it offers, but still pretty good.
google avatar

Carla H.

Yelp
The atmosphere, food and service were all 5 . I can not wait to eat here again! What a gem right downtown Ogden!!
google avatar

Jodi H.

Yelp
Best sushi in America! Seriously. I travel a ton, and you can't beat this menu or quality.

Cirena C.

Yelp
We go to Tona about once a month or every other..... service, food, and ambiance is great every time. Even sitting at the sushi bar! Highly Recommend if your craving sushi in the Ogden area. Worth the price!
google avatar

Yelp
I am still astounded with how amazing Tona was, being that this review is two weeks "behind." We were on a mini vacation in Ogden, UT for our friends' wedding weekend. We live in Las Vegas, NV; and have been spoiled with a myriad of authentic Japanese/sushi restaurants. It was our first time, visiting Ogden & heavily relied on Yelp to find a quality & popular restaurant, that is close to our hotel. We were elated to have secured a table for two on a Saturday early afternoon. We opted for semi-private seating, which to my surprise was a tatami "booth." The first time I have ever encountered tatami seating was in my home country of Taiwan. Super fun & pleasant memory from a snippet of my childhood. Fast forward to many years into the future (LOL!) I had the pleasure of enjoying a phenomenal Japanese lunch w/ my hubby. We tried the lobster tail special, and was so impressed with the flavor & texture profiles that we almost ordered another one! Even the in-house pickled veggies were tasty. All the rolls were delicious & fresh. Needless to say, Tona left us with indelible & wonderful memories.
google avatar

Randy L.

Yelp
Might be the best sushi I have had. The ambience in the restaurant was great, but the sushi is the star. John was our waiter and personable and his recommendations were off the hook. Everyone in our party raved about Tina while we were there and after we left. This is THE place to go in Ogden for sushi!
