I love this record store. I'm really big on record stores, and this one is just lovely and unique in its own way. ☆ Amazing deals! ● Amazing employees! ○ A beautiful mural! ■ Authentic & great! ☆ It's also my spot to develop my music taste because the CDs are super cheap and I get a bunch of them everytime I go.

Couldn’t possibly ask for anything more in a record store. Really respectable prices. Very refreshing to see. All other used inventory is in really great shape, & they have a very wide selection. Good hybrid of new & used. If you see something here that you’ve been wanting to a while, just buy it. You aren’t going to find it cheaper anywhere else.

Google
Been here a few times now and I really like this store. There is a lot packed into this place without it being cramped, the punk section is very eclectic, and the prices are totally not gauged. Also, I find the lower level bargain records here to be a way more interesting selection than most places, which is something I care about. Recommend taking your time digging through the bottom racks.

Google
haven't been in the brick and mortar, but if you're looking to order online from a local indy, SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. i had initially planned on two tree records on my list, but ended up in the double digits. DONT YOU JUST ME. they arrived safe and sound two tree days after i ordered em. thanks TDR!

Every time I go here I find things I wouldn't find at other record shops. It's out of the way for me, but I like to go here for the Punk and Metal sections especially. And the New Used section always has some surprises in it. Bonus for the fact that they put on shows here. Support your local record stores!

Google
The best record shop in the city, hands down. Well rounded selection. This is the spot for punk and metal, but also all kinds of used vinyl and such an amazing collection of electronic and jazz and rock/folk as well. Seriously hard to imagine a record shop containing a better selection than this, and with the best prices I’ve seen at any store in Chicago. This is the spot.

Google
Great record store. Great selection. Definitely coming back. They have new and used albums and a wide variety. A bunch of old punk 45s and some real niche stuff. Definitely a good spot.

Yelp
Purchased several XMAS albums between $1-$5 (Elvis, Wayne Newton, etc). Also purchased classical, and classic rock. Great sticker for $3 stating "I listen to shitty music". This is a vinyl album store with a cool interior aesthetic and a extremely robust heavy metal section.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and sought this place out via their website. I could've spent more time and probably money. Great selection and prices in jazz and punk, my favorites genres. Highly recommend Tone Deaf.

Yelp
I have a very large music collection dating back to my teenage years in the early 80s. It consists of every genre from r&b to Disco to classic rock. I am always looking for new music from any genre or time period to add to my collection.. After my first visit to Tone Deaf Records, I've become a regular customer of Tonys. He has a great personality and is more than helpful . He has the best prices of any Record store, online or actual walk in store. He is just a down to earth good guy who knows the music business and will help get what you need. I look forward to every trip to Tome Deaf Records. I highly recommend this store!

Yelp
This place rules! Tons of cool used records at great prices. Tony, the owner is a really nice guy and they have some great in store events. Go support this place!

Yelp
They have a lot of dollar bins at this store, if I had to guess I'd say they have something like 2,000 or 3,000 records priced at $1. I've found some good stuff in those bins. I'm not someone who buys new vinyl, but I noticed that they had a decent sized selection of new stuff. They do also have a great selection of used vinyl, with very fair prices. It is definitely worth checking out this store, especially if you are in the area.

Yelp
Such a cool record store! There is a diversity in genres and the pricing is excellent.

Yelp
Great spot to find vintage and new records at reasonable prices. Welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Great selection and really helpful person. Any vinyl you're looking for they have it. Come back soon.

Yelp
I've been to Tone Deaf Records in person. It's a great shop and even hosts musicals acts in the store! What drove me to write this positive review is that during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, they're offering delivery. Their website has their entire inventory online and up-to-date. I purchased my records online and within 57 minutes I received a text that they were on my front steps! Thank you for the amazing service, Tony!

Yelp
Friendly staff. Amazing selection. In my neighborhood. What's not to like. Today, I needed some me time from work and family so I decided to check out TDR before I grabbed a coffee, thinking I'll just walk in and maybe grab a couple records. I've been into jazz guitar lately and, to my surprise, they had a great selection from artists I frequently listen to, digitally. No brainer. I snatched up as much as I could. But I'll be back. Oh, I'll be back. It's dangerous to walk in there, I tell ya. Good stuff, Tone Deaf.

Yelp
Cool owner, cool store. Been hooked again on vinyl & this neighborhood gem is a great place for music. All kinds of genres. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great neighborhood record store. If you're not in the Portage Park area, it's worth making the trip to check it out. It's not one of those new uber-yuppie hipster, expensive vinyl lifestyle shops. It's a real l for people who like music. Friendly staff, excellent prices & superior selection. Long may Tone Deaf Records reign!

Yelp
Great selection of new and used records. Tony will order a record for you and call when it arrives. I love having a good record store in the neighborhood. Also, free TMNT video game in the back.

Yelp
Nice newer store in portage park near O Hare Good selection of used and new vinyl at fair prices Found a couple vintage used rock albums in the bins And will stop back in the future to check them out again Worth the trip

Yelp
Tony provided me excellent service today and purchased some old records. He gave me a very fair price and I am totally satisfied!! He promptly replied to my initial email I had sent. It is great to have a quality store like his in our neighborhood!

Mike V.

Yelp
Great shop, fair prices, and Tony is rad! Always worth the trip to Portage Park to dig the new arrivals. I've found some gems.

Yelp
Great little record shop that is worth the trip. Even though the physical space is medium-ish, the records are well-curated, high quality and fairly priced so I found as many good records to buy in my 90 minutes there as I have in much longer visits to the huge shops. Mostly rock/pop, but I found a nice Django Rheinhardt LP and some obscure punk 7"s, so it's worth digging around. Friendly owner, large and generous bargain bin, and even some couches to sit on, which was a positive shock for my non-record-collecting family members. Definitely check it out.

Trevor K.

Yelp
I had a really enjoyable experience here. There is a great selection and good prices for the titles. This shop will definately be my go to for records. They also have recomended some stuff based on what I picked out and I was pleasantly surprised. Well done!

Brad H.

Yelp
This shop is great! We ordered several LPs in the afternoon and received them all the same evening, free delivery! Great selection and prices. The employees are always willing to help out and assist with ordering items not in stock and make us feel welcome whenever we've gone in to shop.

Cindy G.

Yelp
Tony just picked up my vintage vinyl collection at a fair price that still leaves him some room to make a little money. More important though, he is knowledgeable, personable, and apparently a real nice guy. His shop (opened in summer 2019) is conveniently located just west of the Kennedy x-way at Montrose and has something for everyone (now including some of my classic jazz stuff that certain people will love and the rest just haven't heard yet). Check it out!

Tom G.

Yelp
This place gets it right. I've been collecting vinyl LPs all my life and I feel at home here. Prices are very fair for the good stuff--they want to move their stock--and there is a wall of cheapo bins for those of us who like to dig for a find. High marks for jazz and rock, a better-than-average selection of blues. Friendly staff, too. I'll give them another star when they devote a little space to classical, which you only find accidentally here.
