Trump Strips Environmental Protections from the Country's Largest National Forest

"Tongass National Forest, which covers much of Southeast Alaska, is the largest national forest in the country, at over 16.7 million acres. It is home to old-growth red and yellow cedar, Sitka spruce, and Western Hemlock, and serves as an important habitat for wild Pacific salmon and grizzly bears. It is also a massive carbon sink. The forest has been protected from logging and road development since 2001, but recent changes in policy have opened it up to these activities, causing concern among environmentalists and local tribes."

Can't say enough about this trip up Tracy Arm Fjord! Fantastic weather that day with brilliant sunshine and temps around 40 degrees. We went to both Sawyer Glaciers (North and South). Saw tons of sea lions and a few orca. Had drinks with ice from the glacier. Just a great time and highly recommend taking the trip. The pictures are good, but seeing it in person is so much better! Planning another trip in August 2026.

Visited Nugget falls and Mendenhall Glacier base and wow this location is beautiful and nature at its best. Nugget falls is very accessible within 1 mile of hike. A must visit if you are visiting JuneAu. Goes without saying as there is no much policing - Be respectful of nature, bear and do not leave your footprints behind. Protect, respect the nature and wild lifes. Have fun.

WHERE THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S A WAY! ❤️ Will was such a fun and knowledgeable guide. I do not want to give all the amazingness away but this is a hand on tour with respect to the forest. I would highly recommend. The totem poles was the icing on the cake and to see two that are currently in process of being made was amazing.

Beautiful hike outside of Ketchikan. Unfortunately the fog never lifted so I didn't get the views over the water but it was still a spectacular hike. The trail had lots of flowing water so I recommend shoes that are waterproof.

Excellent trails with a beautiful view, definitely worth seeing. This was visited on a Royal Caribbean cruise.

Wow. What else can I say but wow. This place was amazing. From the glacier to the water falls to the bears and bald eagles. Loved every second we were here. Take note there's a lot of walking on the trails so make sure you're up for it. Beautiful place. A must visit.

Took an excursion during a cruise and the vessel we were on was supposed to take us up close to the glacier. There were too many icebergs in the water because it had been so warm and so we could only get about 1 mile close to the glacier. It's okay... it was still a very beautiful experience and one that I will never forget. Such a magical place!! 😍 Definitely recommend checking it out if you are in Alaska!!!

Beautiful hike but not for anyone who has issues walking up stairs or uneven surfaces. Will be too tough. We did the 2 hour hike and while it was nice. I saw everything in the last 20 minutes I wanted to see.
