We had the deluxe king room which looked out over the bay and had a perfect view of the castle ruins on the hill, it was lovely. Large room, nicely laid out and very comfortable, particularly good blackout curtains which is always nice! Great location for hill walkers and tourists that prefer to stay nearer sea level, good food in the restaurant and friendly staff. Already wondering when I can return.

We only stayed one night while travelling the NC 500 and the Tongue Hotel was like an oasis after miles of single-track driving! We booked the family room which was down a couple of flights from the main area, but we were met at reception and our suitcases were wisked away. We were walked to our room (that hardly ever happens anymore) and shown around. A beautiful, well-equipped and spotless room. Amazing beds and a great shower. We had drinks in the bar before our dnner reservation. The dinner was one of the highlights of our trip. Amazing food, wonderful service. Breakfast the next morning was just as good. Our only regret was that we hadn't planned a second night. Highly recommend!

This hotel had everything we wanted and more. Friendly welcome and beautiful room with a gorgeous view. The bedroom was so cosy and I don’t mean small. Just gorgeous and loved the decor. A nice little touch with a gift of sherry for you to have before dinner but not a glass a rather large small bottle! Food in the restaurant was perfect as well as the delicious breakfast. My husbands gluten free was fab too. Love this hotel and wish we didn’t live around 500 miles away.

Absolutely delightful hotel. We booked a deluxe king room and it was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, with a lovely view. Staff were very friendly and helpful, including offering to help with luggage. The bathroom was modern with good water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. The room rate included breakfast (which was very nice) and a credit toward dinner. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, and the small bar was cozy, comfortable, and overall excellent.

The service here is outstanding, with a big shout out to NZ Brad for his bar service - drinks are served beautifully. The room was excellent, and the bed very comfortable, though a fridge would be a welcome addition. Only area for feedback was the food, dinner was okay but not exceptional and as stated, service was not an issue, but prices were a little punchy. Breakfast was a little disappointing, sausage was of no great quality, haggis was over cooked, and gluten free options were very limited. Would stay again, but if prices remain, food needs to be better.

Large room and en suite and excellent meal and breakfast. The goats cheese tart was the best I’ve ever tasted! We chose all starters for our meal and these were all excellent. The poached egg and salmon breakfast was delicious. Friendly staff and great place to rest whilst exploring the north coast.

Booked this online and photos don’t do it justice. The outlook is beautiful looking towards the sea, the mountains and Varrich Castle. The public areas and rooms had loads of character and the food was the best we had during our week’s stay in Scotland. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stayed here while doing the North Coast 500 drive with husband. The Hotel overlooking the Kyle of Tongue, Ben Loyal and Castle Varrich. The hotel was built in the 1800s. Our room still has some original wood paneling and antique furnitures. It's like living in the past. We hiked the Varrich Castle ruins. The restaurant food is okay nothing spectacular. There was a complimentary sherry our room. I do recommend this place.

Yelp
the girl that checked us in is fantastic (Lorraine)and friendly.she is very efficient and even though she is young she is obviously a person that takes pride in what she does. I wasn't expecting the room to be as comfortable as it is (unsure why) it's large with a big and clean bathroom. great view and comfy bed (afternoon nap). will be back again when fat Jimmy hits the highlands again
