Great location. Room lovely. Great nights sleep. All staff were friendly and attentive. Especially loved Owen in the bar, he kept us entertained, lovely young man. Evening meal was delicious but a little pricey.

We stayed at the Tongue Hotel for one night while doing the NC500. We booked the trip through the Highland Coast Hotels and stayed at four of their properties on our trip. This was the only property where we stayed only one night and I could have easily stayed two nights here. It was my favourite property on the trip. You really feel like you are in wild Scotland here.|Our room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the Castle. The bathroom was large and well equipped.|The food was very good and we had the best fish and chips of our life at this hotel.|The staff are friendly and try their best to help . The hotel seems well managed and everyone is professional.|The menu could be slightly more varied and museli or granola could be offered at breakfast ( not just packaged cereals) but the hot dishes we ordered were cooked to perfection. The packed lunches on offer at these hotels could also be improved as they seem a bit more like a supermarket "meal deal" ( sandwich, crisps and chocolate) rather than something a four star hotel would prepare.

Stayed three nights in this hotel and appreciated the kindness and competence of all the staff; the room was very large with stunning views over the kyle and the Castle Varrich, comfy beds, excellent night sleep, harty breakfasts. |Parking on hotel grounds was complimentary. |Dined twice at the hotel restaurant and have fully appreciated the quality of the food .. at a reasonably price. Also ...happy to find local ales at the bar.|One last thing ... on checking out I was stupid enough to leave my favourite jacket in the room ... received a message two hours later but was too far away from Tongue! |Well .. a big THANK to all the staff and in particular to the General Manager Marcel Wassen for successfully sending the jacket via Royal Mail to my son's address in London|This was great customer care indeed!

Five Stars Wonderful experience at the Tongue Hotel. We were greeted by Steve, at reception who went out of his way to make us feel welcome—showing us to our rooms and later taking our dinner orders with great professionalism. He was a real credit to the hotel. The rooms were spotless, the food was excellent, and the whole stay was faultless. Highly recommend!

Well managed and cared for hotel, clean, well decorated, nice touches as in the dram, water and nice biscuits.||We ate one night in the restaurant which was ok. Made to look pretty but not really fine dining.||Breakfast staff on our stay were much better than the staff at Dinner.

Exellent location with lovely views across the valley towards Varrick Castle. Met at reception with a smile and a nice welcome. We had a lovely comfortable room with a spectacular view. The waiting staff were all very pleasant, friendly and efficient and the meals were delicious. Only wish we were staying longer.

Great location and the room and staff were all brilliant but I'm sorry 18 quid for 2 drinks is a piss take. After the first night we went and ate and drank in the hotel around the corner. I've been coming to the north coast for twenty years and this north coast 500 malarkey has made it a no go area for us people on a budget to stay anymore it's now catered for people with lots of dosh and big flash cars to match there wallet. Sort it out because when the roads fall apart more nobody will come anymore

This hotel has a lovely location overlooing the Tongue causeway . Parking is easy and accessible and the booking and check in process very straightforward. |The room was comfortable , clean and warm with an ensuite shower room (plenty of hot water) |Although tea and coffee provided in the room milk had to be requested. Although this is an aim to cut back on plastic use, the lack of a fridge meant that milk requested at night had gone off by the morning. |Evening meal was of a good standard from a limited menu and the service was good, staff were friendly and courteous. ||What let this hotel down significantly was breakfast service. On arrival we were served tea and coffee quickly and shown the buffet , we then placed orders for hot food. By the time our food came we had finished all hot drinks and eaten toast, the hot food took 45 mins from ordering to reach our table. |At one point the staff came back to take our order forgetting they had already done so , 10 mins later a different member of staff asked for us to repeat the order as they had lost it. Having taken the repeat order no effort was made to expediate our order, instead we were waiing an additional 20mins at the back of the queue. When the food arrived it looked like it had been thrown on a plate , it was decidedly lacking in quality and was served without any level of apology.||At checkout the breakfast service was raised to mangement and although he listened we felt that we were not heard.

Yelp
Stayed here while doing the North Coast 500 drive with husband. The Hotel overlooking the Kyle of Tongue, Ben Loyal and Castle Varrich. The hotel was built in the 1800s. Our room still has some original wood paneling and antique furnitures. It's like living in the past. We hiked the Varrich Castle ruins. The restaurant food is okay nothing spectacular. There was a complimentary sherry our room. I do recommend this place.

Yelp
the girl that checked us in is fantastic (Lorraine)and friendly.she is very efficient and even though she is young she is obviously a person that takes pride in what she does. I wasn't expecting the room to be as comfortable as it is (unsure why) it's large with a big and clean bathroom. great view and comfy bed (afternoon nap). will be back again when fat Jimmy hits the highlands again
