We only stayed one night while travelling the NC 500 and the Tongue Hotel was like an oasis after miles of single-track driving! We booked the family room which was down a couple of flights from the main area, but we were met at reception and our suitcases were wisked away. We were walked to our room (that hardly ever happens anymore) and shown around. A beautiful, well-equipped and spotless room. Amazing beds and a great shower. We had drinks in the bar before our dnner reservation. The dinner was one of the highlights of our trip. Amazing food, wonderful service. Breakfast the next morning was just as good. Our only regret was that we hadn't planned a second night. Highly recommend!

The service here is outstanding, with a big shout out to NZ Brad for his bar service - drinks are served beautifully. The room was excellent, and the bed very comfortable, though a fridge would be a welcome addition. Only area for feedback was the food, dinner was okay but not exceptional and as stated, service was not an issue, but prices were a little punchy. Breakfast was a little disappointing, sausage was of no great quality, haggis was over cooked, and gluten free options were very limited. Would stay again, but if prices remain, food needs to be better.

You will get a warm welcome and attentive, well trained staff but this is an old building and it's not warm. |We would have appreciated a blanket in the room, when we asked, we got an additional duvet.|The room was small and the bathroom/shower also very small. |The restaurant was good quality and there were good options for breakfast again with very attentive staff.

Excellent service at dinner with a variety to offer on the menu. We were treated to a delicious starter and main with generous portions that only left room for us to share a dessert. Every course was tasty and a reward after a long trek on the hills. Friendly staff and lovely surroundings.

Our stay at Tongue was simply a one-night stopover which was excellent in all respects. Of particular note were the range and quality of food available on dinner and breakfast menus. Additionally, the atmosphere in the dining room was welcoming and relaxed, and throughout our short stay, all staff were communicative, helpful and eager to make our visit as enjoyable as possible. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Great stop along the NC500 in Tongue. The bed was comfortable and the food was good. We caught them at the end of the tourist season so they were short on staff, but had a great time regardless. You could make out Castle Vraich from the dining room in reasonable weather.

Lovely hotel.|By far it’s best asset were the staff who were all very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. A special shout out to the two New Zealand guys who work (extremely hard) at The Tongue Hotel. |Their upbeat can do attitude and sense of humour made this lovely hotel a pleasure to visit.|The food, dinner and breakfast beautifully cooked and plenty to choose from. (Fish and chips amazing, I should know I live in Blackpool and it beat anything I’ve had there.)|Spotlessly clean and decor in keeping with what you would expect in a Scottish Highland hotel.|Only one small suggestion (not a complaint just a recommendation if the manager is reading this.)…The lighting in the bedrooms (we had two different rooms during our stay) was very dull with underwhelming lamps, so if you wanted any sort of decent lighting then the ceiling light needed to be put on which was equally lacking. Get some warm cozy lamps in the rooms to show off the lovely decor, and give enough light, hope you don’t mind me mentioning it, just a suggestion.|Look very much forward to returning.|Many Thanks worth every penny.

Yelp
Stayed here while doing the North Coast 500 drive with husband. The Hotel overlooking the Kyle of Tongue, Ben Loyal and Castle Varrich. The hotel was built in the 1800s. Our room still has some original wood paneling and antique furnitures. It's like living in the past. We hiked the Varrich Castle ruins. The restaurant food is okay nothing spectacular. There was a complimentary sherry our room. I do recommend this place.

Yelp
the girl that checked us in is fantastic (Lorraine)and friendly.she is very efficient and even though she is young she is obviously a person that takes pride in what she does. I wasn't expecting the room to be as comfortable as it is (unsure why) it's large with a big and clean bathroom. great view and comfy bed (afternoon nap). will be back again when fat Jimmy hits the highlands again
