Where to Stay, Eat, and Drink in Italy’s Prosecco Region - AFAR

"A Treviso establishment claimed to be the birthplace of tiramisu that serves classic seasonal Treviso fare, offers the signature dessert in an adjacent tea room, and houses a sizable wine shop." - Devorah Lev-Tov

Location in the historic center but on a quiet street, away from the chaos of evening strolls. Kind and professional staff, small negative note for a waiter we had to ask for the ice bucket four times to cool the wine. The menu is interesting, typical dishes of the local cuisine. Cooking and taste on this occasion were perhaps slightly overlooked. Rich wine list but by choice we opted for a wine that we didn't like very much. We might possibly return to reconsider. Prices in line with market.

Outstanding service, ambiance and food. What a treat - a very authentic and busy local restaurant which was exactly what we were looking for! We had the seafood risotto, which was outstanding and the black truffle pasta (which I felt would benefit from some finely chopped parsley to add some sharpness to the flavour) and the tiramisu, which was fabulous, despite missing the sharp espresso flavour that I admire. We were fairly conservative with our choices, but all the food coming out looked superb. Very highly recommended.

This is just the kind of restaurant I love. Warm, welcoming with delicious local food. We ate on the terrace but the inside is very cozy as well. Service was very friendly.

It was ok. The risotto had a good bite to it, but was nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked, but the rosemary was a bit to dominant to my taste and the polenta came in the porridge form and normally I like polenta, but not in this gluey puree form 😔 My partner said the scallops were nice. Tiramisu is a big thing in Treviso, but this one was not that good. The coffee used in it, was very watery, so little coffee flavor 😢 About the service, well the women were pretty friendly. But the men were really grumpy and not very welcoming though 😖

Very good food, bad service. Restaurant was packed with people, thanks to the food. Waiters seemed seriously disorganised, one was quite the definition of arrogant and aggressive, even towards his own colleagues. We were served by five (!) waiters, only one was friendly. Ambiance was fine and is up to subjective taste. Food was really good. Come for the food. Reservations are strongly recommended.

The risotto was very nice and also the place was cute. Treviso is famouse for tiramisu so I expected but it wasn't so nice. I removed the stars because I saw the waiter putting the bread in other baskets into one basket and serve :(

Had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. I sipped a drink at the bar for 30 mins waiting for restaurant to open and the bartender was kind enough to put in a supper reservation as I arrived after I mentioned I was going to get supper. Servers were great and food was delicious. Very nice restaurant.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! We loved everything about this place- so historic, beautiful ceilings, amazing wine list- and the food was EXCELLENT. One of my favorite meals in italy (my two favorite meals in all of italy have been in Treviso!) Oh- and the Prosecco is also top notch (for €3 !?) Highly recommend!

Yelp
I wanted to try and not have pizza at least for one night in Treviso, and I have chosen this place for some primi or secondi piatti. The place looked nice, we were seated in the garden by a very pleasant waiter. We went for Cassatella cheese as a starter and Risotto with saffron, cheese and spinach. The starter was so small and i tasted very ordinary, salad was made of a three small pieces of cheese, some bread and a few cherry tomatoes plus some basil leaves. Then came the rissotto (you can only order a portion for two people) and we were on a verge of leaving the place. So untasty, unsalty, with no real flavour to it. Arificcially yellow and so hot. I will never go back to this place and will surely stick to pizza next time in Treviso.

Yelp
Here we are talking about a restaurant that maybe from the outside you would not consider. But open the door and you are met with a wall of sound from excited diners, an interior crammed with gaily decorated tables, walls abounding with wines on display and pictures, fresh flowers everywhere, and the aromas of fresh food. All beneath a spectacular wood-vaulted ceiling. Toni's is a numero uno with the locals, so be absolutely sure to book, as far in advance as possible. Ask for a table in the front part of the restaurant. The menu is written on chalkboards and changes regularly, though a few favourites are always in place, such as the Baccala (salted cod), Tagliatelle with Duck, and Hunter's Rabbit with Olives. The wines are displayed in every possible location: just select one or ask the obliging waiters to recommend something - they will never push you on to anything expensive. And the 'Spin' bit? It is said to be derived from Spina, meaning the spine of the codfish. But a waiter gave me a much more interesting account of the origin, that I cannot publish here - you'll have to go for yourself to find out!
