The crispiness on point. I liked the fresh fried tonkatsu. Dip a piece in the brown to tonkatsu sauce then sprinkle the pink salt. The salt intensifies the flavour and you'd get easily addicted. A tiny place with a cosy feel, a nice place to pop into for a warm lunch with a local feel.

My second visit (4 years later) and it was just as good as I remembered. The regular pork loin set is nice and juicy and fatty. The batter is light, crunchy and delicious. The pork in the curry set unfortunately is a bit drier. The iced tea provided is refreshing. They have an English menu. Total for 4 adults for lunch was 6100 yen. Amazing value.

Best tonkatsu I have ever had! The shabu shabu is very good too, but if you only have one chance here, definitely choose the tonkatsu. I went two evenings in a row, because I only found out how special the tonkatsu here is after already ordering the shabu shabu (which was, again, also very good). I had the tonkatsu with cheese, shiso leaves and garlic and it was amazing. My partner had the super deluxe pork loin cutlet (first item on the menu, ¥3300). The staff also speaks quite good English. If you are with a big group, definitely make a reservation, because it will be a long wait until enough seats clear out.

Went here for dinner last March 8, food was superb, no complaints on that. However one of the staff was rude and condescending - you'll feel the difference on how she treats the white people vs us Asian.

Great! Live up to expectations. I really enjoyed everything we ordered. Side dishes were great too. We will definitely go back again. Went back for lunch. Everything we ordered, the sandwich, the deluxe cutlet, and the cutlet on rice were all excellent. I am glad we were back for the last lunch this trip in Tokyo.

Excellent dinner experience, we went twice when, after the first night visiting, we fell in love with the food, ambiance, service, and high quality. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Tokyo. Their reputation speaks for themselves, twice Michelin awardees, and they still humble and accessible for everyone. You need to try it, it will become one of your favorites very quick!!!

Decent pork cutlet. But not a restaurant that I would specifically go out of the way to have a pork cutlet meal. Came in a party of 2. Great service, despite my meal being delayed for ~8mins after 1 meal came. I feel that it is just slightly pricier for the amount as i've eaten bigger portions at about ¥200 cheaper. But would still be happy to pay for. Free refills for rice & cabbage available once. Subsequent would require you to pay. Free drinks to choose from either water, hot tea or iced tea. Try it if you're nearby!

A famous tonkatsu restaurant in quiet Ryogoku. Very juicy, meaty and light batter on the outside. We had the signature pork loin, one that is stuffed with cheese and shiso and a pork croquette to share. Food was definitely good but was slightly dampened with the cold and arrogant service we received. We got there very early and told the seevice staff apologetically that we didn’t have a reservation and we were okay to wait. We had not understood everything she said and we mentioned we are not fluent in Japanese. She showed us she was unhappy and immediately treated us very coldly. After, she started speaking to us in fluent English which made me think that she treated us badly at the beginning on purpose.

Yelp
We had a fantastic lunch at this restaurant. It is small but they turn the tables pretty quickly for lunch. I believe there were about 10 tables. While we were waiting in line an employee came out and gave us menus. She then came back about 10 minutes later and took our order while we were still in line. We were seated shortly after and served our food about five minutes after we sat down. We had the #2 and #3. The #2 was Hasegawa's Deep Fried Deluxe Pork Cutlet with higher grade meat covered in a panko coating with garlic, Japanese basil and cheese. The #3 was a deep-fried pork loin cutlet, containing higher grade meat coveredin a panko coating. Both were served with rice, miso soup, kimchi, and oolong tea. Their Katsu sauce was fantastic, and I enjoyed mixing it with their hot mustard. Everything we had at this restaurant was absolutely fantastic! I noticed that they were recognized by Michelin. I would absolutely eat here again.

Yelp
Best tonkatsu I've ever had in my life! Super crispy and the meat was tender. The cabbage with the sauce was spectacular as well. Came right when they opened so no wait, but it got packed pretty quickly. Was seated at the bar and got to watch the chef fry, which was cool. Service was great, everyone was really friendly.

Yelp
This is a Michelin star or nominated restaurant? Anyways, food portions are fairly large but the tonkatsu was pretty fatty. The curry had chunks of beef- just a heads up for those who don't eat beef since this isn't listed on the menu. Service is kinda short/prompt. When the server realized one of us spoke Japanese, her attitude toward just them was so much better than when she would address myself and my friend

Yelp
This tonkatsu is not in one of those tourist areas in Tokyo, so you may only see local Japanese here. Excellent katsu and very reasonably priced. A lunch set with generous portion of pork loin or fillet, rice, and set was 2000 yen. If I remember correctly where was no English menu, but Google translate worked perfectly fine.

Yelp
I'm not sure how we knew to look for this place, but it ended up on our radar, and we felt the need to find it. Worth the effort, and then some! The storefront is unassuming, no English in sight. Please go in, it is worth any awkwardness you may feel. They are kind and helpful. An English menu is available. I had the ¥1000 set which was pork loin slices cooked to perfection. My husband had the next set up, which included a side of the tonkatsu. OMG, it was such tender, succulent , flavourful pork!, The rice and cabbage flow upon request. When I come back to Japan, I'm coming here. When anyone I know comes to Japan, I am recommending Hasegawa Tonkatsu.

Yelp
They are skillful craftsmen in the art of tonkotsu making. High quality meat with technique that does not get in the way of the product but elevate it to the next level. I recommend the premium pork (item #1) set and a mug of asahi beer. My only comment is that their english menu does not include all the items. Its hard to explore their entire selection because of this.
