Me and my husband decided to go around the souther part of Norway and we picked this place for sleeping two nights. |It is a perfect spot for those with family or friends or even alone to relax and enjoy a soft and quite environment, embellished with a sort of fairytale style. Flowers are everywhere and make the place even more lovely. 🌸|The owner is super sweet and helped us to know about the surrounded area. |We’d like to return soon!

Very good breakfast with a good selection. The prices are decent and the staff is nice. Cozy, old atmosphere. A little bit cold some places, noise can be heard easily between rooms, and a bit unstable wifi, but apart from that, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a cheap place to stay in Tønsberg.

As a family of 5 we had the ground floor room with 3 bunk beds and sink. ||Toilet and showers just across the corridor and very clean.||Lovely look and very welcoming even though we were late in arriving. We walked up to the remains of the castle and really enjoyed seeing the reconstructed viking ships in the harbour. Well worth a morning to explore around. Breakfast was really nice too!

The hostess was deeply hospitable. From helping us with information on the city, recommendations and upgrading our room. Even kindly providing us with a free breakfast, considering it was Sunday; where restaurants aside from fast food places were closed. A lovely place only a few minutes walk from the train station, the beautiful city harbor and other locations. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom, what more do you want :)

I stayed there in July for 5 nights and can't say enough about what a wonderful place this is. Not only reasonable and clean but the staff is so friendly you feel like you are staying with your friends. The rooms are not luxurious but clean and quiet. The breakfast was VERY tasty and if you were a few minutes late they still let you eat in peace and quiet without making you feel bad. It is located right below Slottsfjellet and only a 5 minute walk down to the docks where all the restaurants are. I would recommend this to anyone who goes to Tønsberg who is looking for a warm friendly place to stay and not an average hotel room.

I recently stayed here on two occasions - before and after Slottsfjell music festival on which I was working.||||Four of us shared a six bed dorm on the ground floor. The room was very clean. Would perhaps have felt a bit cramped had there been six of us. WiFi signal was good throughout the building.||||The location of the hostel is good. Close to the railway station, the 'slottsfjell' park and the town centre. Although Tønsberg is not a particularly large town.||||Breakfast was served every morning in the pleasant first floor dining room. There was a wide selection - meats, cheese, fresh bread, cereal, juice, coffee etc. Way better than anything we were provided during the festival set up and downrigg.||||This being Norway nothing comes cheap. A dorm bed costs 400NOK (£40/$60.) Consequently the clientèle was mainly Norwegian, a lot of family groups. Foreign backpackers are a very rare sight in these parts. I think if I saw one I would probably stare like a third world local.||||Family groups mean lots of young children. They ran around in the morning screaming and stomping, making more noise than a hoard of drunken backpackers (no alcohol permitted on the premises by the way.) Sleeping in would be very difficult, even with earplugs.||||The best thing about the hostel, in my opinion was the owner. She was very friendly and made me feel most welcome.

I have stayed at Tønsberg Vandrehjem several times and was lucky enough to get one night there this June while visiting Norway!|| As usual the service, cleanliness and great breakfast were just amazing. You don't feel like you are in a hostel but in someones home. The way the hostess Margrethe takes care of you you know she loves what she does and she always goes out of her way to make you as comfortable as possible.||So again : It's not luxurious...it's a B&B type hostel but I would rather stay there than any impersonal hotel in town. I can't recommend this cute little gem enough!

Positive: Really close to stations and Slottsfjellet incl. museum. A little bit further to walk to the center of town. The host have manager to create a fantastic atmosphere where it is lovely to stay. She does everything to make you feel comfortable.. Negative: Worn exterior. A place to sit outdoor but not so nice..
