Tony’s Place

I loved this place for years until they started hiring new people who have no custom service or quality control skills. There seems to be an issue every time now from the young man at the counter not writing down orders then having the orders paid for be wrong. To their hours being listed wrong and when you call they give you a time of 3:30 for last phone order and close at 4 but when you get there at 3:35 they are locking the door and say they are closed. Just have some pride in quality and accountability. Especially when people drive from Maryland after speaking to store employees. Guess we'll have to go to Kennedy ST from now on.

If you're in the market for something different, order from Tony's Place. We ordered delivery from DoorDash early Saturday morning. We had gizzards, fried wings, steak fries, fruit bowl and French toast. The portions are large and enough for 2-3 people per dish. The gizzards came with rice and were tasty. Was under the impression that they would be fried but that wasn't the case. The food was fresh and hot. Our favorite part of the breakfast was the French toast and the thick cut fries which were battered. We called to check up on our order, the people which answered the phone were in tandem with food - colorful and accessible.

We ordered trough Uber eats. One of the order was chicken and waffle. The waffle was soggy and nasty, the chicken had a foul, rotten smell. The person is throwing up as I type this. My order was I ordered the Hungryman’s platter. My order is good but now I’m scared to finish eating it. I wish we had smell features trough mobile device so I could share the foul smell with anyone reading this.

I ordered chicken noodle soup, and what I received was absolutely disgusting. I ordered through Uber Eats, and that was the biggest mistakes. There were HUGE bones in my soup and the meat was disgusting. Additionally, my order was wrong and food pieces were missing. I do not recommend.

I meant to go to "Tony's Breakfast" but I ended at "Tony's Place" instead. Just confusing.. anyways, the food tasted nice they even have pupusas. I'll pass on the pupusa next time cause it was just alright. My only complaint was the sponge-cafeteria like eggs. Staff is friendly!

Good food reliable service, you may want to call it in ahead, walk in traffic is thick an long. They only do take out here. It's so good but you gotta tell them what you want on it. Sauce seasoning etc. I would recommend this place for the whole family. Great for all ages. The French Toast platter is🔥🔥🔥🔥great for kids too. (Cinnamon) of course. Handicap accessible entrance, no customer restrooms. Parking is tough limited to 15 mins. They are good with following food instructions an making orders to customers specific way. Good triple mix, plus they have fruit containers an apple sauce.

Never again had a veggie omelette with home fries very disgusting big onions No taste. I miss the original Tony's.

My BLT was absolutely abhorrent! I just don't understand how you can mess up a simple BLT. The lettuce was old and wilted, tomato was mushy! The bread was even soggy when I opened it up! I was so disappointed because I had other items here that were solid. Not saying the whole menu is not worthy but order accordingly! Service was good!

Have been coming here for decades for cheap meals. Unfortunately this has closed down at the1401 H Street NE location. Not sure about the other locations.

Did you know there are two Tony's on the same street?? I came to this Tony's thinking it was the other, but I was not disappointed. It's still unknown which one is the original but they definitely told me Tony's Place is. This is a small restaurant with pick up room only. They also offer delivery through apps like Doordash. The service is friendly and orders don't take longer than 15 minutes to prepare. They have a pretty hefty menu at an inexpensive price. We ordered the big breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and scrapple), a breakfast sandwich with Turkey sausage on a croissant, and a side of breakfast potatoes. It's kind of hard to mess up a breakfast sandwich in my opinion, so it was pretty good, I definitely would recommend it. My friend seemed pleased with her big breakfast. She had an issue with the quality last time she ordered from here, so I'm glad that wasn't the issue. Their drink options are limited but not bad. I like their Nantucket juices. I would definitely visit here again.

So I ordered through from here through door dash because I did not feel like cooking today (8 months pregnant). Outside of my better judgement, I've never been here and thought to just order out. With morning sickness still highly bothering me, my husband still sleep. I waited to eat with him. Upon opening the bag, I automatically saw that neither of us were provided our toasts. Come to him eating his eggs, he begins to crunch, clearly an eggshell in his eggs. Being me, I shake it off and stated that it happens, so he throws it away. From there he decides to eat his steak (btw it was overcooked when we ordered medium well). Upon cutting the rubbery steak, here comes the nasty part, a hair mangled in his got damn steak. First of all, we're in the middle of a whole pandemic and the fact that I'm pregnant only made me want to jump out of my damn skin. Immediately, all that I ordered had to go in the trash. NEVER AGAIN. I'll drag my chair to the kitchen and cook like I have been doing every weekend. This is unacceptable and they clearly need to practice food safety. I made DoorDash aware of this issue and asked for a refund. It's bad enough with morning sickness but now I'm puking nonstop from disgust.

Should've checked Yelp first. Ordered a ribeye with egg and grits got a container full of grits . Unappealing inedible customer service very poor! Visiting DC in the area and worse dining experience by far

FYI Don't go! food quality has gotten horrible. Maybe I need to try the other place across the street on the corner Tony's place

CHECK YOUR FOOD THOROUGHLY BEFORE LEAVING. I did not notice hairs in my home fries until it was too late. The hair was already in my mouth because it was mixed in with the potatoes I am disgusted right now. Never Again!!

Quick and good food for value. Banging breakfast sandwiches and wings & wedges. Not to mention the tuna salad sandwich

We are visiting DC and were looking for a place to eat after a long day of traveling when we stumbled upon Tony's. Pro's-They serve breakfast all day. The portions are large and the food is made to order. The menu is diverse. Pancakes and French toast to a Tex Mex wrap (see picture). The young lady at the counter was patient with us as we tried to sort out our meals. The smoothies are tasty and made with fresh fruit and water (a good thing for my lactose free kiddo). Cons- not much seating. A couple picnic tables outside and seating for maybe 4 inside.

Not going to lie Tony's Place is looking like Tony's Uptown Kennedy st. lately. Honestly, my last few experiences have been below regular. Maybe the food was better, but the French toast and waffle need some love in the ingredient, because it's been trashy.

This is the worst place ever. I order through UberEats and they completely FORGOT ONE breakfast platter. The portions are not satisfactory at all. The Rib-eye Steak Sandwich looks pitiful at best. PLEASE DON'T ORDER BREAKFAST FROM HERE EVER!!!!!!!

I haven't been here in a few years (~2017) so I'm really surprised to see all these poor reviews. The food in here was always really tasty and made to order. It reminds of the lil neighborhood breakfast places down south you can go and get an egg sandwich from. Love all the options on the menu, I could go there for salmon cakes and grits or navy beans and neck bones. The staff is great and always friendly. Matter of fact I'm about to go grab a plate from there for old times sake.

Faded sign over frt door, nats flying around while waiting. My scrapple was tasteless the egg was fine. Tonys Place is off my list. I'm going back to TONYS BREAKFAST across the street.

I ordered a half-smoke and this shriveled mess is what I got. Any DC restaurant should be ashamed to sell this and call it food, much less a half-smoke.

Great food option for the neighborhood. If you want a real taste of what DC is all about come to Tony's Place. Thy have a huge menu and everything is made to order. I am currently eating a double cheeseburger with all the toppings and a side of wedges for $6!!! Check this place out!

Good "home cooked" food. I'm from the south, and when I say this place make me think of home......finger licking good!!!!! Staff very friendly, ensure you get what you and how you want it!

I am not sure where doordash picks up the food, but I am sure that the cook and possibly most of the staff does not realize Reading Is Fundamental. If you are going to allow special request, Tony's, then follow them! If you are serving pancakes, then send syrup. If you ask me how I want my egg cooked, then cook as requested. An over easy egg is far from scrambled with cheese. Your ability to get people's delivery orders correct is just as important as pleasing patrons right in your establishment. One should not have to request syrup for pancakes. I can see maybe ketchup for fries. Then again nah, I can't see that either. Why do I need salt and pepper? I got pancakes. That's usually the two things people my have at their desk or wherever. This is the 3rd tlme I've not gotten syrup and ketchup. The first time I took the blame because obviously I need to ask for it. These last 2 times, imma venture to say ya'll just trifling and don't care. My asking for them still doesn't get it so, you just don't care. And for that reason, I care to spend my money elsewhere. Before I end this, I will say while your prices are reasonable; your service is SUBPAR! You already get the money, treat patrons like they matter. Honestly outside of breakfast sandwiches I'm scared to have something delivered that I can't see before you get my money. If you want to be supported, then work on your customer service and implement quality checks and control. Someone should ensure every order leaving your restaurants is complete. Once the driver leaves, we are screwed. Cuz believe it or not, people like syrup with their pancakes and waffles and ketchup on their home fries or regular fries. You get a 2 star cuz Yelp doesn't offer 1.5. The 1.5 is strictly for the breakfast sandwiches. Get it together, Tony's!

I came here thinking it was the breakfast place. Turns out that place was across the street. The ladies running this place were so nice and inviting. I didn't really have to wait long after ordering my food. The best part is it's kinda hood so i knew the food was not going to suck. I got the philly and the chicken wings. This is a lot of food and i was full after half a philly. It was so good i just kept eating. I'd come back here again without a doubt. It's a inner city diner, you can't complain about the food. I want to eat with people not members of congress.

It was ok. Bacon was burnt. Not the good burnt either. Sausage was well done on one side. I was wondering if they were going to squish the entire platter in one tray. 2 Pancakes, 1 circle sausage patty, 3 strips of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs with home fries. They did lol. But it worked I guess for them. Preferably not for me. I ordered three DOORDASH smh It took forever! The eta kept moving. My driver came from MD smh. Drove past one TONYS PLACE to go to one even further smhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I dnt understand but any way... point is NEVER AGAIN

The (fake) manager "G" is ghetto, uneducated, has never taken a course or even heard of customer service. He is beyond rude, has no "problem solve" attitude. But rather his approach is "Oh well, that's not my problem." He talks over the paying customer and I was basically disgusted by his attitude. Of course, it's not his business, he's just a worker, so couldnt care less about the establishment's reputation. It's a shame bc the food is pretty good, but people like G will give it a bad name.Well all I can say is "Go ahead G with you bad self and keep on (fake)managing struggling fish spot. Who knows with a better attitude, you might find better opportunities. Anyone in restaurant/food services should know that.

Amazing food! Amazing Cashier! In the middle of the hood but amazing overall!! But sitting can be a bit better but its mainly good for an to go place than an actual diner setting.

I had just moved to town when the plague struck and am checking DC's restaurant scene through food delivery. I ordered breakfast from Tony's Place. I want to support restaurants during this time, but this was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever eaten. I was lured in by the super cheap prices. What you're paying for is food that is flavorless and tastes like everything was cooked in the same stale grease. This wasn't the equivalent of a bakery "day old"--try "week old." I threw my food in the trash. I really wanted to like this place, but I can't. Give this one a hard pass.

This place is a joke! Come to NE and across the street with the same name of a NE/ DC staple, Tony's Breakfast. Gave them a try. Turkey bacon was about 60% black, wasn't good at all. I won't be goin ever again. You want good food go across the street to Tony's Breakfast. The real deal.

Every time and I mean every time I make a online order either something is missing or wrong and I used to love Tony's went as a kid they definitely need to do better as a business

I always liked their food still do but one thing I've known I am always being over charged here it's like they upset next door took they business they are barely making ends meet smh today I got a bacon and egg sandwich that is only 2.79 my sister got a bacon egg and sausage sandwich which I don't know the price of but reguardless if mines cost less than 3$ why would my total be 9$ her sandwich should've been 4$ or 5$ idk I feel like they always over price me than one day the black Asian looking guy told me something costed one price black drug dealer looking guy came in he told him a cheaper price only 50 cents but reguardless they get over with they prices. Look at the menu ask for a receipt with the total of everything

I ordered from door dash thinking it was Tony's Breakfast( I just know that place as tonys so I assumed they were the same thing) BOY WAS I WRONG!! The food was disgusting! I got the chicken and waffles, ham and cheese omelette, and the pancake platter. The waffle was hard small and gross! The chicken had no flavor what so ever. The ham in the omelette was deli meat FUCKIN DELI MEAT! And the pancakes were so disgusting my daughter didn't eat them. Save your money! Don't go here go to Tonys Breakfast around the corner.

Very good food, but the service is 0 stars and two thumbs down the guy taking orders at the register is rude and disrespectful almost every word that came out of his mouth was a curse word or the N word im black and it was very uncomfortable. Not a good look Tony's Place

How is that you own a business and don't have a multiple-line phone? I am trying to order breakfast and can not seem to get through the line so cray. Guess it's best to go in person or not.

Food is ok. I rather drive to Bob and Edith's way out Virginia than to drive 10 minutes up the street to this place. I tried to give them multiple chances. The first time I ordered from the place I called in ahead of time. I waited 20 minutes before left out out the house. I get there and the food still not ready. One of your staff members is an asshole and he is very rude. I notice he puts on a performance for caucasians though. I waited almost an hour because they forgot about my dam order. Very frustrating. The food should have been free. Then even when the food was done I had to wait another 20 minutes because you forgot to make my smoothies. I've given this place 3 chances to make it right. The young lady that helped me one of the Times was very nice. But whoever that Dude is you have in the front is terrible.

My favorite hood spot. I've become a regular. Anytime I go for breakfast there is always a line and a wait but it's worth it. Everything is made fresh!!! The coffee is slamming! Better than Starbucks and dunken donuts!! I don't know what they put in it but it keeps me coming back. And it's always Extra HOT!!! The dinner and lunch items are also unbelievably tasty and can easily compete with neighboring fancy restaurants. The ppl behind the counter have become friends, they always upbeat, polite, and offer good conversations and laughs while I wait for your food! I love this place!!!!

Like a few others below, thought I was going to Tony's Breakfast but ended up here. Out of curiosity I got breakfast here anyway. It was okay - basically greasy takeout food. Would do in a pinch but I wouldn't seek it out. Staff was quite friendly :)

Love the breakfast. They guys here are entertaining, and the food is good. Since it's a quick (wobbly, hung over) walk down H Street NE early in the morning, we decided to give it a try. We weren't sorry. Sausage, egg, cheese, on white toast soaked up all the evil spirits from the night before. Have been back for burgers, breakfast wraps, ribeyes and eggs, you name it. Call ahead on Sunday mornings if you don't want to wait 10-15 minutes for breakfast.

I only walked in by mistake thinking Tony's breakfast and Tony's Place were the same thing. I was quickly greeted and taken care of by the cashier who was very nice. It took a while to receive my food to go. When I got home and we tried everything I couldn't even swallow the chicken it was extremely dry and no seasoning neither did the greens and the sweet potatoes were burnt. Corn bread is hard as a rock. I am really disappointed so now we are ordering Chinese. You would think for the wait I would have received decent chicken but it was disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

If I could give negative stars I would. Main point, just don't go. -the food took 2 hours -I had eggshells in my food -mystery meat that was def not sausage

Not worth a dime. Way too much yellow product (it wasn't butter) in my grits. The food had a smell I couldn't get past. I wont return.

Terrible customer service and food is plain. If I can rate negative stars I would. They don't care if their customers are not happy with their Order or food. Would not go back or recommend.

Reading is important and it's clear this business does not do that. I ordered the steak and eggs. My eggs were requested to be fried over hard and my steak medium well. I got the steak and it's rubber and not even edible and my eggs were runny. I don't know how hard it is to fry eggs but ok. Another order I placed had bacon which tasted old and that it had been cooked on a dirty surface. Never again will I patronize this business.

I guess you can say a breakfast sandwich is a breakfast sandwich which is true. So when I get breakfast, I look for the little hole in the wall everything cooked on the same griddle top breakfast spot and this place fits the bill. I don't need some over priced hyped up place just to get a bacon egg and cheese on wheat toast. Tony's Place has good prices and the staff is real cool. It's clean too. Some hole in the walls are kinda dingy but you can feel good eating here with cool people and good prices.

Got tricked. Went looking for Tony's Breakfast but the Uber driver dropped us here. Apparently Tony's Breakfast USED to be at this location but they moved and the landlord open a new store named Tony's Place and is piggybacking off of the confusion. The food was standard, could've made it better myself at home. Also the salmon cakes still had those round bones in it which is a pet peeve of mine. Since I'm from out of town I guess we just missed out. DO NOT GO HERE. Look for the real Tony's nearby.

I was initially charged $21.42 when I placed my order via the DoorDash app. I received a call from Tony's informing me that half of my order wasn't available because they didn't have the inventory so I asked for that portion refunded. At first the woman on the phone said I would have to contact DoorDash, but then she said that she was able to do it from her end and that my new total was only about $9. While waiting for the remaining order (Chicken Steak & Cheese combo which comes with sub, can soda, and fries) about 45 minutes later my order arrives, and I am missing the fries from my COMBO. I call back up to Tony's and the lady says I have to contact DOORDASH. At this point I just want a full refund, because the sub was cold, and the woman on the phone's nonchalant attitude [She literally said, "So what you want me to do?" to me over the phone] has completely turned me off from this establishment and mind you I was a faithful customer to the Good Hope Road location. I also have not received the refund for the other half of my initial order to my credit card. This is not good business.

I was confused because i was trying to go to Tony's breakfast across the street but I still ended up getting a sandwich here anyway. I had the royal steak and cheese sandwich with fries and it was delicious. I had everything on it and it was "spicy". Probably one of the best steak and cheese sandwich I've had in a while. The place is way too small. If they had more room, I'd probably make my way back there to try more of the menu.

We accidentally walk into the wrong place but it was extremely worth it. Food was filling and very good. The decor needs some work but friendly service. The environment is like a mom-and-pop diner.

Service is horrible, people are rude, took 45 minutes to make a salad and a wrap. People who came in 20 minutes after us left before us.

My husband had the pancake platter with grits, he loved it. However, I had the French toast platter and I did not. The French toast was made with regular sandwich bread. It did not have any flavor whatsoever. It was inexpensive do that was the only plus. I've read the reviews about this place and I thought it would be great....it was not. I am disappointed to say the least. I will come back and try a breakfast sandwich. We'll see how that goes.
