I stayed in their penthouse room with views overlooking Mainz square. Room was clean and modern plenty of sockets and a comfortable desk to work from. Breakfast buffet was perfectly good with a good selection of food. The staff were amazing especially Tina, who allowed me to check-in early and was on hand to help with everything I needed. All in all a nice central hotel with good links and plenty of taxis available.

Classic German hotel, very well located in front of the train main station, rooms are comfortable and clean, decor is a bit outdated, but fine. Room was a bit warm and noisy since facing the street. Receptionist was very helpful in general and kindly let me get in early. Good value for the money. If you want to dine in a nicer place, you need to go closer to the river, which is nearby. Historical city center is also nearby. Breakfast was very good, including real muesli.

Ok hotel, well located near the station. The reception area looked very fancy but the room was pretty basic. Two single beds pushed together to make a double. No tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast not included and a very pricey add on.|My main gripe is that they took my payment twice and then completely ignored my emails asking them to refund! As matters stand, I'm almost £300 out of pocket!! Very unhappy indeed!

Room 12 on the 1st floor has a nice small balcony overlooking the station. Very nice lobby bar!

Hotel Hammer is a good place to stay in Mainz. This is what I think, albeit my experience as a guest at that hotel wasn't very successful for the reasons stated hereunder.|The location is super. It's close to the railway station. At any rate, that meant no advantage to me inasmuch as I made the trip by car from my home country. The hotel finds itself at about twenty minutes walk from the most interesting city monuments, the Gutenberg Museum included. Such a walk is a rather pleasant one. That is an additional reason to stay at the hotel concerned.|The bedroom I was allocated was comfortable to some extent. From time to time a noise coming from the bathroom of the room next door as well as some door slams were heard. The bed was really comfy. Everything inside the room was adequate except the safe. I had much trouble because of the malfunctioning of the safe locking mechanism. At the beginning of my stay after my arrival at the hotel it was impossible to close it. I asked the receptionist to have the necessary repairs done. Instead of calling for a technician, he came to the room himself and said that the problem concerned was due to the fact that the batteries were exhausted. While I was out for dinner he apparently changed the batteries. Upon my return from dinner he told me that he had inserted new batteries into the safe and that it worked properly. Unfortunately it wasn't so since then the safe couldn't be opened. He opened it and then closing it was again impossible until he managed to close it anew. That problem lasted until my departure. That implied that I had to go around Mainz with part of my valuables and money in my pockets and the haversack. Upon the check out I begged another receptionst (a lady who was then in duty and who seemed horrified by the nuisance in question) to open the safe. That lady was very helpful and sympathetic towards me. She of course opened the safe and besides helped me load my baggage into the boot. She said that all the trouble that I had endured could have been avoided if she had been at the front desk upon my check-in. |The breakfast in that hotel is very good and abundant. All the food available there regarding that meal is very tasty and of an utmost quality as well as the orange juice. The breakfast room is besides a wonderful place to enjoy the meal concerned thanks to its comfort and the calm reigning there.|As far as the staff members are concerned, their qualities can be inferred from the foregoing. It's obvious that not all of them are diligent and efficient.|The hotel isn't therefore a hundred per cent recommendable place to stay in Mainz. In any case, due the advantages that the hotel offers the relevant accommodation cannot be deemed as a bad one.

We were looking for a short stay to explore Mainz and the Hammer Hotel’s location looked perfect - and it was. ||We arrived early and the hotel was more than happy to store our luggage until check in time. After returning later that day we checked into our room and found the usual sized euro room with all you need. Very clean and tidy. We had a great nights sleep with no outside noise. Breakfast was really good as well with plenty of choice. The front desk staff were really helpful with any request.||We have no hesitation in recommending the Hammer Hotel.

Conveniently located next to the station. Rooms were of a good size, nice aircon and good double glazing. Was able to get a decent nights sleep. Arrived by bicycle so was nice to have safe bike storage. Warm welcome from reception.|10min walk from historic center. Good breakfast.

One of the worst hotels I've visited recently - the room smells of dust, there are dirty spots on the toilet, they didn't give me a key - they said something was broken, they didn't give me a password for the WiFi, there's no kettle, there are scratches on the walls - I don't even know what the pros are here
