After attending the Swiss Days event in Midway, my wife and I realized that they didn't have any adult beverages (read: a beer tent) there at the event. Bummer. That, and the food lines were huge. So, after two hours of walking through the maze of vendor booths and listening to the music, we got back on the shuttle bus and to our car...and took off to Park City.
There, we returned to one of the restaurants we seem to always come back to...and have for years, the Wasatch Brew Pub there at the top of Main Street. Since it was such a beautiful day, we ate outside on the patio and were attended to by various members of their staff, including Rey who served as our primary waiter.
My wife and I had our pints of beer (more on that later) and she ordered the pulled pork sandwich with tater tots, and I had the French dip with the extra cost side salad.
When the food was brought out, my portion size looked a little on the small side...especially when considering the size of the "French Dip & Swiss" that I often get from Arby's. But I guess my eyes were bigger than my stomach as the sandwich was delish, and long with the side salad, was just enough to satisfy my hunger. My wife enjoyed her sandwich (although she had ended up scraping the cole slaw OUT of the sandwich as she didn't realize the cole slaw was inside...), and her tater tots with two dipping sauces.
My wife had some weirdo blueberry ale, and I had a pint of their "Last One Down Lager"...and I expected a clear clean lager. But nope. Mine was some unfiltered stuff that tasted funny and wasn't all that appetizing. I've always felt that some of these microbreweries try too damn hard to make weird beer concoctions just to see if they can. And Wasatch does. All I wanted was a simple lager like Bohemian Brewery's Viennese Amber Lager, but no. I didn't see a Pilsner on their menu. Pfffft. Live and learn.
But overall a good experience and we enjoyed the sun, fresh air, and food.
Four Stars for a nice experience on a Saturday afternoon.
