I've Been to Every NYC Observation Deck — Here's Why the Newest One Is My Favorite

"The Skylift, located at Top of the Rock, is a new attraction that provides an elevated view of New York City. Visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view from the open-air circular platform, which rises 30 feet above the rooftop. The Skylift seamlessly integrates with 30 Rock’s Art Deco architecture and features 96 LED pixel flutes. Additionally, the platform is equipped with a speaker for music and a camera for panoramic photos. A highlight of the experience is when the frosted floor turns transparent, adding an adrenaline boost to the ride." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The views here were amazing. We went at sunset so it was a little crowded but we were still able to see the skyline and get lots of good pictures. I would recommend getting the tickets a time slot or two earlier than sunset because you have to go through a short video presentation first so if you go right at sunset could cause you to miss the best parts. The video itself is really well done and interesting and we enjoyed it. Good food options on top as well.

Took the VIP tour and it was just amazing. Get some behind the scenes stories and history of the building. The guide Mitch was really nice and interesting. Great way to see the building as they take you to the front on any lines and help you get back down quickly. The view from the top is simply amazing. Also had lunch downstairs at 5 acres and the hamburger there was really good

I feel like there should never be a bad review when you’re at the top of one of Manhattan’s most iconic viewing points. Yes there’s probably going to be a line, and yes you have to pay. Will you get a stunning view and photo op, of course you will! I took my step-mother who’d never been to New York and my step-daughter who was born here. Both had the same beautiful experience as I did. Spend the money and wait your turn because it is absolutely worth it no matter the weather.

Visiting the Top of the Rock Observatory Deck at Rockefeller Plaza is an unforgettable way to experience New York City’s iconic skyline. Having compared several options, I chose The Rock over others like the Empire State Building and The Edge. While the Empire State Building’s deck is stunning and a must-see, it’s actually part of the view from The Rock, making the experience even more special. The Edge, though the newest attraction, is located a bit farther from the city center, which slightly diminishes the vibrancy of the skyline. I arrived before sunset to enjoy views of the city in daylight, during sunset, and at night. The Empire State Building stood out beautifully—its iconic silhouette instantly recognizable, especially with memories of the classic King Kong scene. As dusk turned to night, the city lights began to sparkle, creating a romantic and magical atmosphere. The outdoor deck can get quite crowded as sunset approaches, but with a little patience, I secured a great spot. Between sunset and night, there was some waiting time, so I retreated indoors to the photo-friendly windows, which offered fantastic views and a warm refuge from the chilly wind outside. Overall, Top of the Rock offers a perfect blend of breathtaking views and comfort.

Google
Great view of New York, you're right in the center. A minus in my opinion is the relative steep price for sitting on the beam, which was nice, but not great either. Same goes probably for the little elevating platform on deck 3 where you also have to pay for, I skipped that since I didn't want to spend any more money. Overall worth the visit, for sure!

Google
Great views, great staff, and great pics. By far the best pics from our NYC trip. The first lady (when we just came in) gave us no warning, super rushed, but it made for funny photos bc you can clearly tell we had no idea what we were supposed to be doing. The rest of the staff were A++

Autumn Springer

Google
Incredible views and a can't miss New York moment. New York is really best seen from above. We came with a big group of kids who all had a great time. The cafe and gift shop was really nice. The photo opportunities are so much fun too. One surprising think was the production quality of their informational video. It was excellent and no small amount of work was put into it.

Google
Top of the Rock is still our top choice among New York’s observation decks. We’ve been there multiple times and keep coming back because the view is simply the best. Unlike other platforms, you get an unobstructed view of both the Empire State Building and Central Park, which makes it perfect for photos and really captures the contrast between the city’s skyline and its green spaces. The recent addition of “The Beam” is a great upgrade. It's well integrated into the experience and adds something extra without disrupting the overall flow. Sitting on the beam with the skyline in the background is a fun moment and a great memory to take home. Everything is well organized – from the entrance to the elevators and crowd control. Even when it’s busy, it doesn’t feel chaotic. On days with clear weather, the view is breathtaking and definitely worth the price of admission. A nice surprise is the rooftop bar, which offers a relaxed setting and reasonably priced drinks, especially considering the location. It's a great spot to linger a bit longer and enjoy the atmosphere. Top of the Rock is always worth a visit, whether it's your first time in New York or your tenth.

Yelp
Jamie was the best! I had a rought day and I was tired but his energy and customer care turned my day around and all the group that was with me. Thank you Jamie for making this day awesome to the tourists!

Yelp
Top of the Rock Observation Deck -The Best View In New York- Experience a breathtaking and amazing unobstructed 360° view of every corner of Manhattan! One of the best NYC views especially during Sunset! For most people, a visit to New York is not complete without a trip up one of the Cities BIG skyscrapers. The Empire State Building is where most flock to realize this part of their trip. However from the top of this Iconic Tower, one big feature to Manhatten is Missing! The Building itself! Those reportedly "in the know" advise Visitors to Avoid the Empire State Building deck and instead head up the Rockerfeller Center to the Top Of The Rock. Sunset is always the best time to go and here you get stunning views South of the Empire State, along with better views of Central Park, Midtown, and the City in general. Height: 70 floors high, 850 feet

Yelp
This used to be one of the best attractions in the city. It's now run down and grubby. The beam experience is BEYOND STUPID. Takes up a lot of space - what a cluster. The employees are miserable. 2 stars for the views

Yelp
I have been to the Empire State Building observation deck before and wanted to see New York City from a different perspective. The nice thing about the view from Top of the Rock is that your photos of the New York City skyline will have the Empire State Building in it. Top of the Rock is on the 70th story of the Rockefeller Center skyscraper (called 30 Rockefeller Plaza) in Midtown Manhattan. That is about 850 feet above street level. NBC Studios headquarters is located here at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and records both "The Tonight Show" and "Saturday Night Live" on the 6th and 8th floor. Unlike the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock has a safety glass around the perimeter of the deck and has more space to walk around. The view is gorgeous from up here. I arrived at dawn to see the New York City lights turn on to get both an early evening and nighttime perspective in my photos. It wasn't too crowded when I was here. Rockefeller Center offers a variety of ticket packages that include an express pass, VIP passes or the Beam Experience. If you don't want to take your photos from behind the glass, you can head up to one of the higher center platforms for a clearer shot without a reflection. Especially if you are one of those people that absolutely needs to use a flash. One of the most famous black-and-white photos is "Lunch atop a Skyscraper". It is a 1932 photo of a bunch of immigrant ironworkers sitting on a steel beam 69 stories high during the construction of Rockefeller Center. Top of the Rock has added an experience where a number of people are able to sit on a beam and recreate the same photo. On this ride, guests are lifted 12 feet above the observation deck platform and taken for a 180-degree turn. It looks a little scary if you don't like heights, but makes for a fun photo. See You at the Top.
google avatar

Susan P.

Yelp
Must stop to experience the splendor of NYC with an unparalleled aerial view. Plenty of photo ops and an opportunity to replicate the famous photo of workers enjoying their lunch 69 stories up on a girder. Great fun. Everyone was super nice and accommodating. No rushing or fussing.
google avatar

Tanya S.

Yelp
We chose this over the Empire State Bldg due to the 360 views (but somehow I got things mixed up & was expecting the top to be as pictured in The Edge ‍). We had tickets for 8:15a on a Sunday morning, which was the perfect time to go to avoid the crowds, but of course, the morning clouds limited the view of the top of some buildings. By 9a the crowd poured in resulting in a wait for the elevator to the upper floors/restrooms. We enjoyed the views, then enjoyed some hot chocolate & pastries at the cafe on floor 67, The Weather Room, then enjoyed more views & photo ops on floor 69. The views were great, therefore so were the photo ops. All of the staff were extremely friendly & helpful except for the woman at the security machine. Was it worth over $40/pp? I believe so. Besides, you're at Rockefeller Center so there's much more to do & explore there.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Have been here a few times and it seems they keep making the experience better and better by adding new attractions or interactive things to do. I highly recommend going here instead of the Empire State Building as from Top of the Rock you will be able to see the Empire State Building. Recommend going at sunset or in the evening for the best views.
google avatar

London C.

Yelp
The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating for one of our handicapped guests. We were recommended this place by a local instead of going to the top of Empire State. I'm happy we did this instead so we could see the Empire State Building and IMO it's better views.
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
One of the best views of NYC - 70 floors up at the Rockefeller Center. After reading many reviews of all the different options for observation decks, we decided on Top of the Rock. We were so satisfied with our decision! Wonderful 360 views of NYC, including Central Park and the Empire State Building. At $40/person, it's not too bad a cost to get to the top, and the entire process (while having multiple steps) is super simple once you arrive. We waited in line for maybe 5 minutes to get on the elevator to the top. We came earlier enough to watch the sunset, and it is both beautiful and totally worth it. If this is something you want to do, plan to arrive earlier to get a spot because it does get crowded at the top for sunset. They do have a small gift shop at the top as well as a bathroom (although the gift shop at the bottom when you're finished does have much better souvenirs). Overall, Top of the Rock is a great choice for a 360 skyline view of NYC.
google avatar

Jared S.

Yelp
Horrible unorganized. Employees force you thru picture lines at the end before you can leave. The view at the top is nice, but I would recommend going elsewhere. This place used to be nice before all these "beam" pictures. Lines lines lines. Unorganized.
google avatar

Lisa J.

Yelp
Nice views of the New York city skyline. It was a decent attraction to see. When we visited, looked like they were having some sort of event there.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
It started to rain on us while we were on the observation deck, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Great views, though you aren't nearly as high as the Empire State Building or One World Observatory. The staff was friendly and they had a couple cool little exhibits to look at regarding the history of the Rock! Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Top of the Rock gives a great view of the city with the Empire State Building included in the skyline, but that's really all it has to offer. If the observation deck at Rockefeller Plaza is the only one you visit, you might not notice anything wrong. But anyone that has also been to the observation deck at Empire State Building will see how the pathway up to the viewing platform can be just as exciting an experience as the outside deck. This part of the experience is where Top of the Rock is lacking. You can see more of what I'm referring to in our experience at both attractions on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/iZHBO69lPH8

Yelp
100/100 recommend ! I'm glad I got a chance to experience this fairly new experience that's recreating an Iconic 1930s Photo of workers on a beam that had a part of building the city . The beam takes you 800 feet over the air & rotators you over the city . I was so nervous to do this but it wasn't bad at all and once you're at the top the view is beautiful ! I would so do this again !
google avatar

Faidon K.

Yelp
We had booked our tickets to go and try the beam on top of the Rockefeller center. It's been all over social media so my friends couldn't wait to go all together. We were expected to see lines of people but actually it was the opposite. We arrived at the location at 2pm. We took the elevator all the way to the top and after watching a short film we were ready to go sit on the beam. We had the whole city on our feet! It didn't last long. They said 9 seconds but it didn't even feel like that lol. The people who work there gave us the right guidance, they were polite, smiley and patient with us. It's an attraction for the tourists mostly. Good experience for once.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice view from the Rockefeller Center. It's different enough from the One World Observatory since you have a better view of Brooklyn and Central Park. It's outdoors, so you feel a nice breeze.

Yelp
This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Maybe it was my fault for thinking "gee, sunset would be a nice time to see the city from an observation deck!" But that dumbness on my part aside.... First off, this is way overpriced for just going up in an elevator. It's 10000% tourists and Rockefeller Center is just raking in the cash from this. The staff is unbelievably rude for the amount you pay. I mean, I guess no one ever said this is a customer service experience. But I was shocked at the yelling- maybe they're used to speaking to people all day who don't understand them so they think this is ok? Not sure, but I interacted with probably a dozen employees and they were all rude, yelling, and herding us like cattle. There's zero educational component- you don't learn anything about the building architecture, what else goes on at 30 Rock, how tall the building is, even how many visitors they get daily/annually/whatever. I guess my expectations were too high. When we were at the top I actually feared for my life. Crowd crush is a real thing. You are shoulder to shoulder with people and some get pretty irate about not being given a turn at the front to see the view. Seriously, I thought I was going to witness a fight a couple of times. There's no organization. There's no monitoring how long you've been up there for (on the bright side, you could probably stay all day if you wanted to!). In summary, chalk this up to "I should have known better." But if you aren't a fan of super touristy spots, avoid this at all costs because it was worse than Times Square on a Friday night.

Aphrodite A.

Yelp
Don't Go. Don't bring your kids. Visited on 5/30/24. I paid north of $200 for 4 people, also paid an additional $100 for the "Beam", their model of the famous photo taken during construction of the building. That lifted us up so we could get our picture taken against the skyline. Guess what! Another $40 just to see the photos! In the view, it was heavily obstructed by a 4 foot tall concrete barrier. My kids couldn't see more than a glimpse of the Empire State Building. Don't waste your money here. Visit the Edge at Hudson Yards.

Yelp
"Top of the Rock" typically refers to the observation deck at the top of the Rockefeller Center in New York City. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city, including iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and Central Park. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking scenery day or night, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking a memorable skyline experience.
google avatar

Yelp
You go up to the 70th floor and there are security checks. There is an indoor and outdoor view. The outdoors is smaller, but can still capture the beautiful view of New York. Tip(s): - There are security checks
google avatar

Vivian G.

Yelp
I was vorn&raised in NYC, left 23yr ago to the Hudson Valley, but still love to visit the places that bring me total zen, and this is the spot. I went up on a Tuesday morning at 930am, and it was so peaceful up there, there's benches where u can sit and take it all in. Some of the other observation decks in NYC are very crowded & higher up so the vibe is quite different here. I appreciate the friendly staff & also the people who were up there also, as they weren't rude & gave everyone some space. Great views, go early to prevent overcrowding & enjoy the beauty of New York
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
Had such an amazing time here. The views are amazing, and you get such beautiful pictures. And you can stay as long as you want without feeling rushed. I loved it. I think it's worth the price.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
Incredible!! It has incredible views of the city, especially of central park. Definitely recommend buying tickets ahead of time, like most things in the city. I recommend top of the rock over Empire State! Inside the line management is a little confusing but there are lots of people there to help. The bathroom on the 66th floor is a nightmare, so I would definitely wait or go before!
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
Located 70 floors above, Top of the rock is definitely a spot you don't want to miss! It's a three level observation deck with protective glass! Make sure your phone is charged because this place is begging to photographed!! I'm sure Top of the rock looks great during the day but at night it was definitely an experience. If you have multiple days in New York, I recommend getting the city pass for different attractions. It includes here and it's worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
We booked online 2 days before and didn't realize the sky would be so hazy from the wildfire smoke, as we arrived they gave us the option to reschedule but we're from Jersey so we just went ahead, it wasn't as great a view as it could've been but well just have to come back one day. I tried to reschedule online and both calling them and filling out an online request we're unsuccessful. Also heads up - they charge $34 for a 6-12 year old, given my dgt is still 6, I paid but then after I saw on their FAQ page that 6 AND under were free, so I'm not sure if I paid for no reason. We came on. Like I said a hazy day but also around noon on a Friday in the summer, no wait at all, walked right onto the elevator, there's a cool view of the shaft as you go up, the views are great. The staff was nice. There's a gift shop at the end. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Craig F.

Yelp
A must visit tourist attraction while in NYC. Reserved a time through CityPass. Showed up 30 minutes early and they sent us right up rather than make us wait which was nice. They have glass ceilings in the elevators and tell you to look up when you get on. They project imagery on the glass which was a nice touch. The too wasn't too terribly crowded. It was rather warm (NY in July) but there were enough shaded areas that it wasn't a huge problem. Gift shop was rather small. We didn't end up purchasing anything other than water. Restrooms on 66 were on the small side but the mens room was pretty clean considering the traffic it gets. They little lobby on 66 was tiny as was the elevator but nothing we couldn't handle. Upon leaving, they have a little booth you can take pictures. Outside is a display that shows people's pictures. My kids got a kick seeing themselves on the display. Overall well worth it and the views are amazing. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Roger B.

Yelp
We came here the day after Thanksgiving and it wasn't as crowded as I thought. The elevator ride is quick and has a see through ceiling where you get a little light show. The viewing deck is fabulous! You can really get some amazing views here.
google avatar

Melinda S.

Yelp
I've seen this highly recommended as a great place to go for amazing views of the city so it was definitely on my list during our NYC trip! There is an option to purchase tickets in advance online, but we decided to just wing it in case weather wasn't favorable for good views. We headed over on a beautiful Saturday in the late morning and there was very minimal wait time. I'd say from when we entered the building, got tickets, and got on the elevator to head up the floors was less than 20 minutes. The elevator ride up is fun, you can look up and the shaft is illuminated by lights and you see some semi transparent videos and hear audio with them. Once at the top, there are three observation floors, all giving you amazing views of the city. We were able to spend as much time as we liked on each floor and section and really take it all in. There is a map you can purchase for a small fee that helps you identify all of the buildings and landmarks you will see. Overall, we really enjoyed the breathtaking views here and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the city! They do sunset time slots as well which I want to do whenever I get a chance to visit again.

Yelp
View was good Price was high But its New York Can see Central Park to downtown See queens to jersey Recommend
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Purchased tickets ahead of time but still had to wait in the ticket line to have them printed. Unless you are able to print tickets ahead of time, there is no benefit to buying a ticket before hand. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, we went to go to the top and they told us we would not be able to see anything due to the fog (but failed to mention this before waiting in line or having our tickets printed). Luckily, tickets are good for a year and we were able to easily and quickly reschedule our tickets for another day. There is also very little handicap accommodations available in the building.
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
Great view but not worth the price and the hassle. Absolutely tragic experience. There's not flow to the amount of people on top of 30 Rock which just results in everyone trying to get that perfect instagram worthy shot and not moving for other people to get a view. Our experience consisted of seeing French and Chinese tourists fighting for the best spot to take a photo at golden hour while yelling at each other all while everyone is forced on top of each other like sardines. Yeah the view is nice but they just funnel you in and out like a factor. A truly miserable experience. Maybe there's off times to come and it's less packed but goodness what a mess. Just folks yelling at each other to get a iPhone photo.
google avatar

Sasha B.

Yelp
Definitely recommend! The observation deck has three levels, from which the view on the city is just stunning. Here you are in between the Central Park and Empire State so views on the both are pretty great. Also this is not the tallest observation so you get the feeling of being "in" the city rather than being distant observer. I was there before the lunchtime on a weekday and the lines for tickets and the elevators were not very long. At some point the different parts of the deck were almost empty.
google avatar

Frank K.

Yelp
There are potentially four elevators to take you to the Top. But only one was working so it took over an hour to go up and another hour to go down. All to walk around an underwhelming deck for 15 minutes. Not worth the money.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
This was a great experience. I purchased this with the CityPASS so it was included however I would recommend going regardless. The entry was very simple, I walked up and then walked up a set of stairs. Through a metal detector then waited maybe 2 minutes for the elevator. It takes you to the 67th floor. Once you get there you can walk around and see some views through the window. You can take an escalator to another floor that is the observatory. If you take a left and go up the stairs more you can find another level. It has even better views than the other level but can be crowded. Just be patient people leave pretty quickly
google avatar

H L.

Yelp
Great views! Super crowded when we went but the views were spectacular. The elevator ride up is fun because the ceiling of the elevator turns clear and you get to see th elevator shaft. Eek!
google avatar

Misty T.

Yelp
We loved our experience here today! We got the express passes. Not sure if it was really worth the extra money since we literally still went up in the elevator with everyone else. But there were NO lines, so maybe that's why we went up with everyone else. We went around 5:30 pm and the views were spectacular! It wasn't crowded at all and we got some amazing photos. It was beautiful. All of the employees were amazing and friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
google avatar

Tyson B.

Yelp
Impossible to get a nice picture with you in it due to crowds, but a fantastic view. For whatever reason (most likely managerial incompetence), they decided to put one very tiny area at the top for taking pictures of the skyline. This one tiny picture area is too small to take horizontal photos with no people on the sides, so you're basically stuck trying to fit the skyline into a vertical photo. And there's no person requiring efficient photo taking or to prevent people from cutting lines. So what you basically have is gigantic families that cut lines and take forever to take photos. It's just tragic. As for the rest of the observation area outside of this tiny photo area, people will stand there for forever looking at the skyline. Of course, this is fine and there is no rule to prevent this sort of behavior. However, this results in a mass of people trying to get to the front of the ledge (like at a packed free-for-all concert where everyone tries to get to the stage). Overall, there should be time limits and designated photo areas to ensure the efficient movement of people. It's currently chaos with no thoughtful means of guaranteeing that everyone can both get a proper photo and/or take in the skyline.
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Great way to get beautiful views of the city! The iconic Empire State Building. Central Park (distant, but still looks pretty cool!). Lady Liberty (also distant - and also cool to see!). Lots of corporate buildings too. After riding the elevator from the ground floor, there are 3 levels (2 sides each) from which you can take in views. Best done on a fair, sunny day - makes for the most stunning pictures. (And for a fairly popular attraction, the line for tickets was fast.)
google avatar

Kelli M.

Yelp
Getting up , the beam experience and the view was however the process leaving was a zero. It took us over an hour to get down and they had us standing in dark unlit hallways. Not sure how this was to code. Only two working elevators for the mass of people trying to leave.
google avatar

Caleb W.

Yelp
Beautiful and fun experience. My wife and I loved seeing the city from up above. I was told it was better than Empire State Building, and it lived up to the hype!
google avatar

Bryce R.

Yelp
My partner and I visited Top of the Rock for a recent trip to NYC to capture the views. Almost any rooftop tour will run $40-$70 and we chose this to be able to see the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, and an amazing view of the Central Park. If it's your first time to NYC, it's definitely a right of passage!
google avatar

Cherie T.

Yelp
Amazing. We bought tickets a month beforehand for a particular day, but when we arrived we were told it was too foggy to see anything & they offered to let us pick another day. We went back & what an adventure. I would definitely suggest springing for the Express pass. Fit an addtl. $20, we were lead to a VIP line that went ahead of the normal line & got on the elevator first. Normally, I am very annoyed when I see people zipping ahead of me while I stand in line, but I have to admit, it was worth any dirty looks we may have gotten from the "normal" line. The elevator ride takes 42 seconds; be sure to look up as there is a cool light show going on in the shaft while you ascend 70 floors. While not the tallest building in NYC, it's the only one that offers a 360° view of the city. It was extremely windy, but there a glass walls that block the wind, but not the view. Once you get off the elevator, there are 2 more levels you can take stairs to access. Definitely go. There is a tiny gift store at the top, but also a large one downstairs. We took some incredible photos.

Yelp
You don't need to spend much to "see" New York, but to see the skyline from an iconic place, you'll need to utilize the "CityPass" deals out there, or just fork over $40 a person, and I'd say it's worth it. You're in 30 Rockefeller, you're by Rockefeller Center, you have a sort of amusement park lineup with a funky elevator ride that isn't that long / bad. Have your phone ready when you start going up... you see the entire elevator shaft. And if you have vertigo like me, rest assured that the layout of the Top of the Rock feels SO FREAKING SAFE with their plexiglass walls protecting you from the drop, etc. I don't normally do a litany of touristy things when I travel, but this is one that I'd recommend to anyone. There's higher viewing decks, and other gimmicky ones, but this felt Goldilocks for us.

Yelp
We paid extra for the sunset time slot, but they had gotten backed up earlier and so the line was so long that by the time we got to the top, it was an hour later. It was also so incredibly crowded that it was not a great experience, especially with people standing in areas for so long blocking others trying to do their own personal photo shoot and my kids barely being able to see. What I did like, was that the Empire State Bldg was in view making it iconic if you can get in during a less crowded time at a time you paid for.

Yelp
It's one of those touristy activities, but is completely rewarding and a little fun too. There are several observation decks in the city -- and at a similar price ($40). Your decision to visit one or the other largely depends on the type of views you are most interested in seeing. At the Top of the Rock, your view highlights include the Empire State Building to the south and Central Park in the north. You'll experience the views across three decks on the upper floors of the Rockefeller Center. To grant you those unimpeded sights safely, they do erect glass barriers and even splash fun graphics across them to give you that perfect photo opportunity. At the very top level, there is a gift shop. Do peruse for that newest iconic magnet for your fridge. The experience will last you ~1-2 hours. If you're wondering if the price is justifiable, best believe it is!

Yelp
Decided to take a week trip with my family last week to visit New York City and I heard the first place you should see outside of the Statue of Liberty would be Top of the Rock. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a worker with a nice and fancy coat named Michael who greeted us wonderfully and even interacted with my children as they bonded in conversation over pokemon when they noticed a card attached to his ID. As he told us where to go to redeem our tickets he began explaining what the Beam experience would be and as they got excited we decided to try it as well. Overall the view was amazing and we all enjoyed our experience. The only down side is that it gets crowded really quickly and it can be a bit overwhelming but all of the workers were genuinely trying to assist everyone the best they can. A MUST recommend will be returning in the summer!!

Yelp
So technically I went to Top of the Rock. But got scared and let my fear of heights get the best of me hahaha (don't judge me lol) But my family went to the top of the Rock and said it was amazing. The views were great and they said you could see the whole city. Maybe next time I will be brave enough to overcome my fear of heights so I can see the city too lol But for now, I will have to live vicariously through their explanation of the experience and the pictures posted by other yelpers. :) Which I'm perfectly okay with doing. Hey it's better than a panic attack right? Lol

Yelp
Another High Rise view of Manhattan. Not as crowded as the Empire State Building. In fact, on the weekday afternoon my wife and I visited, there was almost no-one else up there. Also, The Empire State building is a much more involved and longer experience as you have to transition floors a couple of times. There is also a museum floor at ESB and it probably takes an hour or two to finally get to the top. So, if you just want to go to a high rise without any fuss, and don't have a a lot of time, and don't want to have to deal with the throngs of tourists. Get yourself and your group to The Top Of The Rock! So, for those reasons I am awarding 5 Stars to this iconic New York City experience! BTW, if you enjoyed my review or found it useful funny or cool, please don't hesitate to click the little button to say so, or better yet, go ahead and friend me. So go on! Press that button, and never miss a single one of my epic reviews in the Seattle area and beyond. Excelsior!

Yelp
We came here on the City Pass and it was such a cool experience. The view is great and the observation deck is relatively shielded from high winds. The wait is REALLY long but since we were standing in the way of a sidewalk, we miraculously got saved from the wait and got brought to the front. Our luck was unbelievable even to me. The view was great from the top and it's not too windy as well because they have walls. Come on a clear day though, because we came twice before and were told not to go up since the clouds obstructed any view of the city anyways. They have several levels for observation as well as a glass floor you can walk over. They also have several cafes and bars in the building, which we did not visit. Furthermore, they have a nice rest area. The building and design looks relatively new and everything is in great condition. This was a spectacular experience with gorgeous views. Definitely recommend!!!

Yelp
Super fun overlook, while it is the shortest in NYC you still get a great view of the city and can freely walk around easier than a lot of outlooks. Being fully outside was very nice you can get some great photos with the city in the background.
