John chows down on authentic, homemade, California-style Mexican dishes which include their signature Wet Burrito with oh so much extra guacamole. It’s a fiesta of food when Enchiladas, Tacos, Tostadas, Nachos Supreme, are added to the menu, not to mention the unexpected, yet famously delicious, homemade chocolate cake. Olé!

I came here on a whim and was not disappointed. The setting and food were perfectly matched. I ordered a burrito entre (with beef filling) and it was excellent - I cannot remember the last time I dug into a meal as quickly as this one. The price was also well matched to the quality of the food and is arguably a bargain for what you get. My only minor gripe is that they do not offer carnitas as a filling. While it is not a deal breaker it is something that would be the icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

This place has the best nachos. Pro tip: get regular and hot salsa and mix them together. It’s the perfect level of spice and the salsa is amazing so I always need extra anyways. It’s nothing fancy to look at, but the portions are great, for instance, nachos between 2 people is more than enough. Service is a little slow paced sometimes, but it’s usually one person running the whole restaurant so I get it. The food is worth the wait! Grab a seat on the patio in summer if you can.

For me this is a classic location, in that it will always live in a place in my memory from my time spent living in Kitsilano. The food is always good, nothing out of this world, but consistently good and I always leave feeling great about the choice I made. The staff are friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to establish a good memory or experience of a place that feels more like a hole in the wall, but really should be iconic.

We've ordered takeout from here a number of times. We may have eaten in once, years ago. Has always been half decent. We avoid Las Margaritas, which has good food, because the service & attitude is abysmal, and I can't bring myself to encourage it by spending money there. As for Topanga, love the chips & salsa - which we pop by to pick up just by themselves on a semi-regular basis. Probably the best in town. That said, we picked up takeout from there a few nights ago, and it wasn't up to par. The food was packed in, about as appealing looking as dog food. The guacamole definitely didn't cut it. The nachos were also in a similar container as the meals, and had gotten soggy as a result. Worst nachos we've ever had, and not just because of being soggy. Not sure if they changed ownership. The place still looks quaint inside, and the staff seem nice and friendly. Eating in might result in a better experience. But we'll most likely turn to Pepitas from now on.

Mmm this place was on TV for a reason! I'm surprised more people don't talk about it, it's so underrated! Very delicious Mexican food located in a cozy mom and pop location in Kitsilano. Great servers. The sizes of the portions are perfect for me and my hubby. My favourite place to get an enchilada!

Only place I will happily line up for food! For four decades I have brought family and friends for feasting! The foodie folks here never fail. Food should be fun and at The Topanga it ALWAYS is. On a busy night go before 7:00pm. You will never regret a visit.

It's been almost two years since I have been picking up my husband from Royal Feet Reflexology and I have been greeted by the deliciousness smell of great cooking! Well tonight, I finally called in my order while I sat in the car. It was ready for pick up in 15 minutes! Great choice for our late dinner tonight! I ordered just after 9 o'clock. They close at 10. I ordered the double entre with a chicken taco and beef burrito. It had to survive the one hour travel home to Maple Ridge. The quality still incredible! Best salsa and chips around! OMG! Garlic and cilantro in the salsa! YUM! Freshest ingredients, simply comforting food. Will be back! Oh ya, these are the guys that make Que Pasa nacho chips! Family business, great staff!

Bland food and just unenjoyable. I love Mexican food but this place just wasn't good. I have heard so much about it but I went finally with some family for my mother's birthday and it wasn't good. This is my review so don't let it affect your curiosity. I ordered a chimichanga and it was just bland. No seasoning no flavor just chicken. It was dry. At least it was all breast. I recommend The Mexican on Granville or Las Margaritas on 4th.
