"Once it was time for a bite to eat, I drove 15 minutes into town to enjoy the trendy yet charming Topanga Living Cafe. My gourmand meets health nut breakfast—a blueberry scone, caprese toast, and cucumber salad—would feel out of place anywhere else."

Topanga Living Cafe is a beautifully chic and aesthetic spot, perfect for working or relaxing. The ambiance is stunning, with a great atmosphere for productivity. The presentation of food and drinks is phenomenal, adding to the overall experience. While the food is super healthy and ideal for those mindful of sodium intake, it lacks some flavor, which is the only drawback. Despite this, it remains a great choice for health-conscious diners seeking a delightful environment.

Location is good, interiors are rustic.. but staff is not really trained to serve food or customer service. Knowledge of Food temperature, food serving order, etc. was not really there…

The vibe and aesthetic of the cafe was so nice, great place to sit and sip coffee and do some work on the computer away from the business of the city. The workers were kind and the coffee was great but i would recommend either getting a bakery item in the morning when they are fresh because they were stale when i ordered them or get something off of the menu that they have to make fresh. I’m sure if i got something off the menu it would’ve been great. But the caprese toast wasn’t the best, the bread was stale and it didn’t have much flavor. But the banana bread was great! I made a mistake with my order and wish i ordered something different. But overall is a great place!

Great place for breakfast. Outdoor seating is available. Food is very fresh and delicious, totally recommend it.

Parking is horrible, Staff although very nice people (I'm sure) they don't look like they want to be there... That's what killed it for me... Food is hit and miss, coffee is great, steak sandwich I got was awful... Not a good cut and was over cooked. The avocado toast was good... The salmon Toastie was great... The eggs were not cooked the way we asked... And honestly, it's way too expensive for what they offer... I would go to Leo and Lily down the street and get better service, better quality and better overall experience... (No affiliations to the them) Just an honest opinion... Example What would you expect to pay for... steak sandwich, mineral water, avocado toast with an egg and Salmon toastie... With tip it was $83 Got a muffin and a latte after... Will try them again soon... Will update my findings...

Located on the Highway-27, Parking can be difficult at lunch time. There are a few spots in front of the restaurant otherwise you have to park on the curb with the cars passing by. You want to sit outside, as it’s too noisy inside to have a relaxed conversation. With limited seating outside you usually don’t need to wait for a table to be available if you’re only two people. With a larger party it gets tricky. Breakfast plate was ok, the combination was too dry, no sauce or dips, as you can see in the picture. Breakfast Burrito was pretty good (with Turkey Sausage) and the sauces were a nice addition. The Island Style plate was also really good. Crunchy fritters with a great salad.

Another great place with vegan and gf options. Kabocha tacos were outstanding! Loved the drip coffee also and the avocado toast. Generous portions too and beautiful outdoor space. Cafe is quite popular so it was a bit of a wait but so worth it!

This is a great cafe for brunch on your way down from the valley to the ocean! I made a stop here for a smoothie and a pastry before heading down to Malibu. The atmosphere is very relaxing and everything is kept clean and tidy. Because it wasn't busy and crowded like Cafe on 27 I would say that this cafe is much better! The pistacio pastry and smashed avocado toast was excellent. I tried one of the smoothies and there was a little bit too much turmeric in it for my taste but would definitely try another soon.

Yelp
Topanga Living Cafe has some really good food. We love love their coffee. It is an adorable place and you can dine inside or out. It also has a small shop with some cool things to buy. The service can be slow so that is a little bit of a bother, but not much. The staff is really nice. The place is very clean and ever so pretty. We love their sandwiches. We tried their home made falafel on warm pita stuffed with radishes, hummus, cucumber and peas. That was a big hit with our group. It was really good. The fried chicken sandwich on a great bun was my favorite. It has spice to it and was just very flavorful. The turkey club is on sourdough and really good. They use great turkey and you get the perfect amount. The steak sandwich was good, not great, but I loved the cheddar cheese on it. It was good. The tortillas for their tacos are made there and they are great. We had the carne asada and boy was it good. It comes with two. As I said the coffee is great, but so is their home made lemonade. I just loved it. We had a lovely time there.

Yelp
The quickest way to put me off a restaurant is to ask for a tip when the Only "service" is me standing at a counter to order. Second quickest is to ask for a tip before providing the service. How do I know what your service earned if it hasn't happened yet? Then to recommend a tip of 30%??? On over priced food? Food: slightly above average, over priced even in the world of inflation. Ambiance: the payout patio is nice. Dining room very loud. Service: None.

Maral C.

Yelp
This is a charming little coffee shop in Topanga, and I love their outdoor patio! It's often quiet and chill. The staff is friendly. I ordered the Big Brekky with scrambled eggs, which was tasty, but the potatoes were quite oily (delicious tho) Unfortunately, the coffee was burnt, so I couldn't finish it :( I rate 3.7 out of 5!

Mejiakei27 ..

Yelp
Must try! The food was amazing, the place is so cozy! Staff was kind and helpful! I will be coming here again!

Salma K.

Yelp
Love the coffee, and Thier breakfast burrito with steak is out of this world. Lovely ambiance as well.

Kellie K.

Yelp
The cutest and coziest hole in the wall in the mountains of topanga. The restaurant draws in a really friendly crowd and they have so many healthy options from smoothies, teas, salads, and more! Everyone who worked there gave so much joy and warmth and we had a lovely conversation! I would love to make this a Sunday ritual!

Victoria L.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday last weekend, and I enjoyed almost every single thing that I ate! The poppyseed muffin had good flavor, but it was a little on a dry side and the blueberry cornbread was not my favorite! It was kinda moist and just not my idea of a blueberry cornbread. I ordered the Brekky breakfast and it was delicious! My favorite part of my breakfast was the crispy fingerling potatoes. I should've just ordered an extra side of them because they were really really good. I had some thick bacon, Sourdough toast I ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and everything was well seasoned not overly seasoned and I would definitely come here several times a week in the future lol I sat on the back patio and I love the green tile floors. They were so gorgeous and it was just a nice chill vibe and the service was pretty quick. P.S. I came back 2 days later and ordered the Brekky again lol

Yelp
Like many of the places in Topanga Canyon, Topanga Living Cafe feels very much like a neighborhood joint. When I want to have a relaxing Sunday I oftentimes think, where can I go for a bit of peace away from the craziness of LA. This Sunday I decided to pop over to Topanga Canyon to enjoy a bit of me time. I first stopped by Cafe Mimosa, which was much smaller and packed with nowhere to sit. So I drove down the road a ways and came across Topanga Living Cafe. There was plenty of parking in front, which can be a bit difficult in this area. I loved the light and airy feeling of the space as soon as I entered. Even on this cloudy day the space felt warm. I was greeted with smiles from the baristas and appreciated the ample seating available. I ordered a large matcha latte and a chocolate croissant. Available milk choices were whole, oat and almond for those wondering what they have to offer. The latte was wonderful but the croissant felt a bit stale, sort of a bummer since it looked so good. Maybe it was fresh but I know croissant and this one felt like either a boxed croissant or one from the day before. Other than that, the experience was lovely. There were local goods for purchase along the back wall making this more than just a spot to stop when you want coffee. Another thing I loved was that the benches lining the seating area all had plugs behind them with both traditional and USB ports. I thought this was a really nice touch considering many people come to coffee shops to do work on their laptops or phones. I arrived around 10:45am on a Sunday and it was practically dead. But by 11:30am the place was packed and there was a line out the door. So just plan your trip here accordingly. I will definitely be returning next time I need a little break from the city!

Judy G.

Yelp
We were passing by and saw this cute cafe that we had to make a u-turn and park on the side of the street and walk a few minutes to check it out! I ordered the latte with oak milk and added maple syrup as the flavor. The place was popping on a Sunday morning. They do not allow dogs but they do have an outdoor patio.

Peter F.

Yelp
Nice and bright little cafe on the canyon, rustic vibes. Great sit down spot if you're driving or riding by, some parking out front but expect parking in side of the road. The food was very tasty. I tried the breakfast burrito which turned out to be amazing, wanted another. Looks like they have freshly made items such as quiches and caprese avocado toasts that don't appear on the menu. Will be back again to try out their other menu items and juices. They're busy on the weekends, but their servers move fast.

Jesus B.

Yelp
Quick friendly service. Chill patio dining area. Delicious food. This place hit the spot.

Scarlett H.

Yelp
Lovely place with both in an outdoor seating areas - both nice and pleasant, albeit a bit crammed and tight. Food was OK for the price. Salads were a bit small. They have a nice smoothies and many drinks that you don't find in regular restaurants. However, and some of them, unfortunately, the ones we bought , were not very good. It's a self service place; you order at the counter, and they bring the food to you. Other than that, it is pretty difficult to get any staff to pay attention to you, even when you need. We had a drink spill, and had to wipe everything ourselves, because everyone was so busy. You'll need good luck to find parking here - only a few spots in front of the store and pulling in and out of these spaces could be challenging with incoming traffic coming at high speed.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Topanga Living Cafe is a great spot for a cute date or day trip if you pair it with a hike in the Topanga State Park. The food is really good and the smoothies are alright. The almond croissant was one of the best I've had - brimming with frangipane - and the breakfast burrito too. My smoothie was pretty expensive and didn't hide the healthiness as much as I think most do. It is super busy but it moves quickly so we were able to find a seat pretty quick.

Randy B.

Yelp
Food was super fresh and simple, felt good to eat. Everyone is relaxed and comfortable, you can tell they all love what they serve. Would definitely go again when I want to feed my body something clean.

Crystal K.

Yelp
Great place with wifi to work located in Topanga Canyons. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very relaxed vibes and cute selection of gifts to buy. Food and cafe was good

Monica N.

Yelp
I wish I could move into this cafe! Peaceful warm interior and a fun outdoor patio with the prettiest teal floor. We were lucky enough to have a hipcamp site right across the street from here so we walked here two consecutive days for breakfast. Loved the ham and cheese croissants, cinnamon roll, and brekky tacos. Service was excellent - they were nice enough to fill up my Hydroflask with ice and we never felt rushed even when it was super busy. The coffees were decent - not out of this world but I got the caffeine boost I needed. There's parking available outside the cafe but I imagine it can be tough on a busy day, especially since highway 27 is a windy two lane road. Also, they sell specialty gifts that make for unique presents (so many brands that I haven't heard of!). Great place to snack, shop, and savor.

Lovina C.

Yelp
Scrambled eggs side - was super impressed by the technique to make these fancy scrambled eggs. It was fluffy, soft, and almost whipped. Presentation was beautiful. Soba noodles - This was an impulse buy after seeing this in the display counter. It looked tasty so I sprung for it! The flavors were mainly a soy marinade and sesame seeds on top. Some acidity using vinegar would have been a nice addition. The noodles were thick and hefty, not much of a chew to them but I still found them pleasant to eat. The small portion definitely filled me up.

Andrea G.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious the chicken sandwich was so yummy and the baked goods are a must. And loved the blueberry muffin. The service was friendly and the food came rather quickly. The outside seating is a must if you try this restaurant you will know why.

Nicole k.

Yelp
I came here for the Huevos Ranchos, and they did not disappoint. Delicious flavors and eggs cook perfectly. Enjoyed with a Flat white. Service very friendly and welcoming. Would come back again.

Pedram B.

Yelp
Super nice place off the highway with aesthetic decor. The service was friendly and the food was solid. Nothing stood out too in any bad or good way but this spot is a great place for a casual brunch.

Courtney D.

Yelp
If you're hunting for a chill spot post-hike, look no further than Topanga Living Cafe. Inside, the vibe is cozy as can be, but heads up--it can get jam-packed, especially during peak times. Now, onto the grub. Eggs and potatoes? A total win! But the bacon? It fell a bit short, kind of on the soggy side. Haven't sipped on their drinks yet, but the place has serious charm. It's small, sure, but that just adds to its laid-back appeal. Topanga Living Cafe: the perfect spot to kick back after a day of adventure.

Zach H.

Yelp
Awesome vibes and atmosphere! The smoothies were really good a tad bit expensive but you are in the middle of a canyon. The coffee one with dates was good. Their matcha is good here too. Great place to get some work done.

Summer P.

Yelp
Looks cute & that's about it. Overpriced and not that good. Takes forever, beverages are tiny, and no refills on their $5 leaf water. Interior looks nice and has good lighting. Decent amount of seating. Be careful playing frogger crossing the road bc there's hardly any parking. There are very few places to go in Topanga, I suppose they know that and can get away with it.

H G.

Yelp
Beautiful cafe with amazing food and coffee, I had the egg frittata, it was amazing, my husband got the breakfast burrito and it was really good as well. Great service.

Josh B.

Yelp
Loved the service, probably spelling her name wrong but Kaitlyn is exceptional. Must try the Brekky breakfast burrito has all the things to keep you fueled for the day especially if you plan to do any day hiking. Will be coming back when I'm in town again.

Francisco G.

Yelp
The ambience and service is great, highly recommend! Coffee was strong and burrito was excellent. Can't wait for the next time.

Sanjeet S.

Yelp
Closer to 3.5 stars. Overall a cute place to visit if you're in the area. Coffee was good and came out fast. Ordered a pistachio bun for $7 which I do think is overpriced but it was also relatively big but hallow inside. It tasted good but wouldn't necessarily order again. Breakfast burritos were on the smaller size. Would come again for the drinks and ambiance.

Er3yn G.

Yelp
This is one of those places you see on Instagram that feels like is the epitome of LA. We actually came because a friend was visiting from Canada and our hike was nearby. Parking is an absolute nightmare, it's just on the side of the road. The cafe is order at the counter type establishment. The line to order was insanely long. Which I didn't understand because there was enough staff working, just one register open so maybe people weren't ready to order? There is an over priced market inside with trinkets from local vendors and they also sell some packaged food in a fridge. There isn't much seating inside so we had to grab a table on the patio. It is covered but some rain and mist still gets in. Most unoccupied tables were dirty. There are two food runners but I think they were busy with the rush and unfortunately people didn't clean up after themselves. But maybe it's because I wasn't sure where to take my plates when I was done either. The food was good. I didn't like that the food came out to the table but I had to wait at the counter for my coffee. It was packed enough as is. But at least the coffee was quick. But I pretty much had it finished by the time I got my food. I think the portions are a bit smaller than normal. Still filling but you won't have leftovers. Overall it's a cool experience to do once and take a tourist with you!

Valerie G.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best coffees I have ever had. They had GF waffles, which are so hard to find and they were amazing. Comes with whipped cream, blueberries and these amazing pumpkin seeds. Will be back......probably tomorrow.

Tiffanie A.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for years. It used to be my absolute favorite. During inflation they sharply raised the prices but never brought the prices back down now that inflation has settled. They made the coffees and teas half the size, got rid of non red meat options and no longer have jam for breakfast. I got the big breakfast which basically is potatoes, eggs and toast with no jam. I left hungry after paying 50 bucks for breakfast this morning. It's really disappointing because it feels like greed to me and my favorite place is now ruined.

Kirsten M.

Yelp
Love this spot! Great for a long breakfast or lunch hang with a friend. Good vibes, yummy food, and a little off the beaten path.

Nicole A.

Yelp
Came here a few times during my trip to Topanga and overall loved the ambiance of this place as well as their smoothie & coffee options. The coffee is a little less varied than the smoothies, but this was probably one of the best coffees I had in my LA trip. The staff is very kind and patient when you're placing your order. I got an iced maple latte and my friend got an iced honey latte. The Maple has a bit of a darker taste than the honey as expected, the honey is sweeter but the after-taste kind of threw us both off a bit. However, if you love honey, I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for you! The second time we came back, I got the Highway 27 smoothie, the salmon toast, and my friend got the Island Style Salad & said it was 'the best salad she ever ate'. The food & smoothies are definitely a bit pricey, I think the salads & the coffees are the best bang for your buck here.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe!! The food here was absolutely delicious. I loved the unique touches they added as well, like the seeds on the lemon for the avocado toast. Simple but so cute! The smoothies were delicious and highly recommend stopping by and grabbing breakfast or something from the bakery!

Inna I.

Yelp
Great food and smoothies. Ambience is cozy. Adorable cozy spot to bring a computer especially at their patio area. Service is good. Coffee flavor is not my fav though.

Lourlei C.

Yelp
This place is awesome, had breakfast with my family and the food was delicious. Service was great! Ambience was relaxing.

Lerna O.

Yelp
This spot was soooo good! First of all, the ambiance is so cute and cozy. You can sit indoor or outdoor and the decor fits the area. The food was super yummy. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was sooo tasty. I also got the chai tea. It wasn't my favorite and it was very small for the price. I would definitely come back and I recommend everyone to try it.

Danielle M.

Yelp
Dry, bland cinnamon roll- couldn't even eat it Overpriced small smoothies My smoothie (happy trail) was actually quite delicious but waaaay overpriced for the small size

Shirley L.

Yelp
I was here a couple of days ago, very good coffee the taste of it was so amazing I really wished I had gotten a to go cup as well, the service Amazon I asked a lot of questions and the staff was so friendly and nice, I was studying and the ambiance was nice and relaxing so it helped me for sure I can't wait to go back and try their food! Love this place I can't believe I waited so long to try it. Top 5 places to visit if you live in The Valley for sure.

Eugenia L.

Yelp
Perfect place to eat breakfast/brunch after a good hike nearby. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Got their breakfast burrito and kinda wish there was more egg and cheese going on inside but the potato pieces inside were huge. If there was some sort of veggie inside it would've been yummier too. You can choose sausage or bacon but they ran out of sausage this morning which was kinda a bummer. Overall, a cute place with lots of options on the menu. Their smoothies look really good though so hoping to try those if I come back!

Ian Z.

Yelp
Good coffee, solid food, and a cute cafe. It's a bit expensive and crowded at times but it's a welcome spot in Topanga Canyon.

Haleh M.

Yelp
Delicious food and service was great too. They are a bit slow on their service but it's really tasty and clean

Jacque A.

Yelp
Excellent, clean, healthy, delicious food, good vibes, and excellent service. Love this place!

Shreya V.

Yelp
Food is amazing, the staff were so friendly and the restaurant is cute! I tried the Island style bowl (recommended by the person working the register) and it was so tasty. The corn fritters with the chili jam were so yum and the quality of the ingredients really shined. It was perfectly light and filling! My friend tried the carne asada and shrimp tacos and they were tasty but the tortilla was falling apart at the end. I thought prices were on the steeper end but comparable to LA and the quality truly was so good - worth it! They also have a cute patio and plenty of seating and parking!

Sofya P.

Yelp
Super cute spot. Good coffee and pastries. Beautiful outdoor space. Right on topanga canyon.

Joeana A.

Yelp
Holy portions! Their dish sizes are generous and delicious. Topanga Living Cafe is a great place to grab a casual bite or coffee. The people who work here are extremely nice and laid back as well, and help you with recommendations. There's plenty of parking available outside the cafe.

Patty C.

Yelp
Another great place with vegan and gf options. Kabocha tacos were outstanding! Loved the drip coffee also and the avocado toast. Generous portions too and beautiful outdoor space. Cafe is quite popular so it was a bit of a wait but so worth it!

Sam S.

Yelp
Vibe was very peaceful and nice. A lot of people by themselves reading or working. The tacos were good but not great. I'd get the asada over the fish taco (only two I tried). The fish lacked flavor. The asada was actually decent. The tacos also came apart a little. For $18 for two tacos (I've seen worse) this wasn't terrible. If it was just the food and price at some random place on a busy street it would be 3 stars, but rounding up because I don't think that's the point if you're coming here.

Stephanie V.

Yelp
My cousins and I were driving through Topanga Canyon on our way to Malibu when we decided that if we could find parking we'd stop into the Topanga Living Cafe. Luckily there were two spots available right out front. I had never been, but from what I was told, this place didn't disappoint. It's beautifully decorated with mid century modern vibes. There is seating indoors and outside on the patio. The cafe along with the baristas are warm and welcoming. I wish we had more time so we could have enjoyed breakfast here. There are a lot of healthy options too. I ordered a chai latte with oak milk. Drinks came out quickly, and while we waited we pursued the items for sale to see if we needed anything. There is range of gifts from leather-bound journals to sage to greeting cards.

Kassra F.

Yelp
All around good food and ambience. Terrible parking situation, and be prepared to pay $19 for a breakfast burrito. Service is mostly front end - pay before you eat. They will bring your food and clear your table, but no real check-ins in between.
