"This tour will take the better part of your day (it's six hours start to finish). But going by bike to these outer city sites—the old Appian Way via the ancient aqueduct—is the easiest and most entertaining way to see them. Plus you won't want to cut out early: it ends with wine and some nibbles in Caffarella Park, which is so expansive it feels like you're in the countryside even though it's smack in the middle of the greater city. Bikes feel brand new and the confidence of the tour guides will put any nervous riders at ease." - Erica Firpo, Maresa Manara

This has been by far my favorite tour in Europe! Zak was fun, friendly, had lots of knowledge of the city, and always made sure to watch out for our safety. Whether we were biking thru the countryside or on the city streets, he was cautious with traffic & made us feel very comfortable. I had no idea Rome had so much green space. It was a beautiful ride, with a huge variety of scenery - definitely an adventure! And having the e-bikes made it so much easier to navigate hills. I can’t recommend this enough! See the city from a different perspective!

We were a family group of eight with three kids. Everyone loved the tour and all the amazing sites we saw. We have taken several tours while in Rome and this one was right up there as our favorite. Our guide Ximena was so great and extra good with our kids! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
Had such an amazing time on the Appian Way, Aqueducts and Catacombs E bike tour. It was so fun!!! Group size was small, the e-bikes worked so well and got to get out in nature. The trip had a good balance of stopping to see some historical places, stopping for food and riding. Biking through the parks was so pretty. Bita was a great guide. The facility is super clean with 4 clean restrooms to use before the trip. I would 100% recommend - such a joyful way to spend the day.

Google
Unbelievable Appian way and aqueduct park tour. Great guide who took us through some of the marvels of Ancient Rome. We saw parks and the actual Appian way which we rode on for a while. Also the aqueducts were incredible. If you have the time it was such a unique tour. Would have loved to do the catacomb part but that was in a longer tour.

Google
My wife & I did the Appian Way/Aqueducts tour. It was very enjoyable. Our guide (Ali) was terrific. We stopped from time to time for him to tell us about sights along the way. There was some diversity in cycling experience in our group of six, which he handled well. I would note the portions of the Appian Way required a little bit of skill - the intermediate rating for this tour is appropriate. Our bikes were mountain e-bikes, which were well maintained. I feel the tour is an excellent value, and I highly recommend it!

Google
We did city center highlights with Fabio as our guide. It was fun riding through all the alleys and seeing so much! By far the best way to sight see. Fabio was very knowledgeable and passionate plus great at group management (bike safety). The bikes were top-notch.

My family & I took a TopBike Tour of Rome this afternoon and it has been the highlight of our trip to Europe so far. Probably one of our favourite tours my husband and I have done in Europe, among all the trips we've ever made in our lives. Our Tour -Guide Anna was extremely knowledgeable and shared her excellent understanding of Roman history to captivate all of us. Not to mention her natural bike-riding skills and confidence navigating the streets that were so inspiring. It was the best way to see Rome - with regular stops, opportunities to take photos - all the while learning about the fascinating, long history of the city. We had THE BEST afternoon! We couldn't recommend TopBike Tours more highly!

Google
We rented bikes for one day to ride the Via Appiana route provided by the company. The bikes worked well, route instructions were clear and we had a great time. Most important, service was excellent from booking through return. Highly recommended!

Steve S.

Yelp
We took this bike tour and overall I would highly recommend it! Here's the good stuff: We rode the Appian way, visited the catacombs (no bones to see), the remnants of the Roman Aquaducts which were just awesome! 2/3 the way we stopped at a very rustic farmhouse and had wine and some cheese that the farmer made. The cheese was mild and delicious! Ok. Here's the not so good: it's a 6 hour ride that starts at 10 am, there is no lunch. That should be made clear. The bikes are electric assist which made riding easy. However, I was given a bike with too small a frame and even with the seat extended all the way up, my legs couldn't straighten.

Tracey A.

Yelp
Thanks to TopBike, "electric-assist bike" has risen to the top of my most favored combination of words. Their electric-assist bikes combine the task of pedaling with a drop of jet engine propulsion and the result is simply the most fun one can have on two wheels. Barely 5 minutes into TopBike's 6+ hour, 20 mile tour of "Ancient Appian Way, Catacombs, and Aqueducts" (79Euro; about $93US) a woman behind me, older than myself, shouted "these bikes are the best things ever!" to which I could only nod my head in agreement. TopBike also offers the use of mountain bikes but go that route and you'll be missing some serious fun. E-A bikes make a long tour feel not so long as they'll help move you quickly over small hills and uneven terrain quite easily. Ride on the 2,300 year old, cobblestoned Appian Way and, if you hadn't already, you'll quickly grow thankful for the e-a bike. The tour itself is excellent, well-planned, and well-organized. Booking on-line via their web site was easy and getting outfitted with the proper bike and helmet was simple. Our seasoned guide, Valaria, led us safely through Rome with confidence and competence. A person to whom I mentioned this tour remarked that 20 miles wasn't very far to go in 6+ hours. Touché, Mr. Observant. The tour lasts 6+ hours because it features numerous stops: among them, an ancient church, a guided tour of Christian Catacombs, and a final stop at a funky farm for (cheap, white) wine and fresh Pecorino cheese. The longest one ever pedals without stopping is about 35-40 minutes. TopBike offers other tours, both shorter and longer, and some which stay entirely in the heart of Rome. Based on my experience, I'd trust them to lead a well run tour without drama, and to keep me both safe and interested. Despite the e-a bikes, pedaling around Rome for 6 hours is a full day. Was it coincidence or good planning on their part that ensured the sky was darkening as we exited TopBike, the perfect time for a carafe of wine? It was well earned. TopBike runs a good and satisfying tour.

Yelp
There are those epic moments in life when you realize it just doesn't get any better than this. Our bike tour with Top Bike Rental and Tours was one of those moments! It's hard to see all of the sights that Rome has to offer on foot because the sights are so spread apart. Buses and taxis are an option, but we didn't want to go through the hassle of learning the bus line and taxi rides add up quickly. For 45 Euros you can go on a four hour guided bike tour and see about 15 major sights in Rome. Our tour guide, Francesco, was awesome! Francesco gave us the history of every monument, square, fountain and statue that we passed during our bike ride. He was so knowledgeable about the history of Rome and his stories were very informative and entertaining. During our tour Francesco would stop so we could take pictures at the major sights such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. We took a short 15 minute break at the Pantheon and grabbed the most amazing espresso at Tazza d'Oro. The 9 mile bike ride is a pretty effortless ride since you are making multiple stops throughout the four hour tour. There were two steep hills on the bike ride, but other than that it was a very easy and leisurely ride. If you are looking for a more challenging bike ride Top Bike offers intermediate level and private bike tours: http://www.topbikerental.com/nuovosito/eng/rome-bike-tours.html Top Bike provided us with the bikes, helmets, bike baskets, ponchos (in case it rained) and a bottle of water so the only thing you need to bring is your camera and some money for snacks. If you are visiting Rome you must book a bike tour with Top Bike Rental and Tours!!! This was the highlight of Rome for us and we will definitely book another tour on our next visit.

Yelp
This place was amazing on a last minute rental that we extended. We got the e bike package with a lock, bag and charger. Bikes were simple to ride, lock and leave when we were touring around Rome. They are a short walk from the Colosseum. Highly recommend this place and skip a car rental because you can't park one anywhere anyway. Get the e bike and you'll thank me because you did it. Streets are rough on your butt so get some padding before you saddle up

Lori R.

Yelp
What an incredible way to see Rome! Jessie, our guide, made it even more incredible as his love for his city came through with every story. We zipped up the hills like superhero's and stopped for photo ops at all the most amazing places! Even stopped for a slice of pizza and a beer. This was our favorite day spent in Italy, which says a lot considering all the amazing tours we went on. So, so worth the money. We're getting our own e-bikes when we return to the states!

Edita D.

Yelp
We did the six hour tour with Federico and assistant in training, Liliana. It was a small group of four. We loved the option of electric bikes but it's not really necessary as the tour is really flat. The view of farm lands was refreshing. I think we just circumnavigated the Colosseum for 18 miles. My daughter admitted it was "funnest" tour in Rome...so far!

Dave F.

Yelp
Did the appian way bike tour I saw on Viatour. Iris (pronounced ee-ris btw) was our tour guide. As others states here, she is awesome. She really knows the historic details, and explains easily how to use the bikes and how to ride the roads that we took. Super friendly and professional as well, she even remembers peoples names! Location is right by the colleseo, so its convenient. The shop folks were friendly. I got an e-bike to use and it came with a pouch in the front to hold your water and everything else you might have in your pockets. It was super easy to use and made the biking super easy. We had some older folks with us and they had the carbon bikes and they kept up with us rather well. I ended up turning off my e-bike later in the journey as I wanted a workout, haha. We saw a popular church on the way out of town, stopped at various roman city walls, the st callistus catacombs (went on a guided tour!), biked the appian way, went to aquaduct park, made a brief visit to a cheese facility and enjoyed free wine/cheese. Ended it with a stop at the caracalla baths. Would highly recommend this bike tour facility, the tour contents itself, and Iris, the Dutch instructor!

Erin K.

Yelp
We are 100% sold on doing bike tours in European cities. It is a great way to check out the sights and get some brief history. TopBikes was a great company to tour with. Our tour guide, Alessandra, was knowledgeable and accommodating to our group. It is really worth it to go with a group like this. We were scheduled for 4 hours and we went a little longer because we were allowed to spend a bit of extra time when we needed. I would recommend this to anyone in Rome for the first time. Go on one of your first days so you know where you want to spend more time at after the tour.

Yelp
Electric bike day tour of Rome!! The tour lasted from 10:00-17:00. We saw so much! Our guide Jesse stopped us for info and pics at all the great places. Showed us some the interesting things and places that we would might have otherwise missed. Such a great city with so much history! A good way to see a lot in one day!! And the electric bikes make it almost effortless pedaling. Another plus is the stop for lunch and gelato which is included. Fantastico! Highly recommend!!

Lynne C.

Yelp
We did the 7-hour bike tour with Imke and she was hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST. We were lucky enough to get a private tour so it was just the three of us! It felt like we got to see everything there was in Rome and had such a blast biking around exploring :)

Melissa B.

Yelp
This was our favorite day in Rome! The pedal assisted bike tour was absolutely beautiful and a nice break from walking all day! The lunch stop was delicious and perfect as well! I would highly recommend anyone visiting rome to make this tour happen!

Greg K.

Yelp
What an awesome bike excursion this was and a terrific way to see the local and backwoods parts of Rome up close and personal! Most importantly TopBike has solid equipment - both bikes and helmets - with a wide range of sizes available. Small frames like my wife's and big 285-lbs boys such as myself were easily and quickly outfitted. Even our guide was well armed with tire puncture repair kits and spare tubes - both of which were employed repeatedly for our group. My wife signed us up online for their English-speaking Appian Way bike tour through AAA Online. For several hours, the tour took us through the south side of Rome and beyond the outskirts on the ancient, cobblestone, Roman troop transport road known as the Appian Way (Appia Antica). It was truly awesome to bike the streets of Rome, past the Colosseum, and beyond the ancient outer walls of the old city! And not all of the experience was solely on the back of bicycles. Part of the tour included an escorted tour down into the Castillo Catacombs: a series of massive underground burial crypts which once stored approximately half a million Christian bodies avoiding mutilation at the hands of pre-Christian Roman soldiers in the first 3 centuries A.D. Our bike trip continued into the late afternoon through several parks off the beaten path. You could tell these gardens were local favorites and hangouts as they were completely devoid of tourists (like us!) - something somewhat rare throughout Rome. Here we biked past ancient aqueducts, cold springs, virginal streams, a wedding reception, and ordinary residents living casually amongst it all. Throughout the trip our guide was conscientious about providing rest stops to share some insight, point out a historical feature, or just to break for water or a picture opportunity. It was a terrific balance of touring, history, and exercise. At one point our group of 7 bicyclists made a prearranged stop at a farmhouse in the woods to break bread, cheese, and wine before heading back toward Rome. The company operates from one location in the city - a few blocks north of the Colosseum between Oppio Park (Parco Del Colle Oppio) and the Church of Mary Maggiore (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore) - which serves as their bike repair shop and the customer check-in point. Our hotel was near Vittorio Emanuele III and we found the walk both before and after manageable. The Cavour metro stop will get you close. To this day we both look back quite fondly on this experience and smile because it was one of the best highlights of our visit to Rome!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Wonderful tour!! Ambra was wonderful and very informative. We learned so much and were able to in a short amount of time because of the bikes. So glad we went! Oh, and the Gelato was Delish. :)

Alesia C.

Yelp
The best way to see Rome! Staff and our tour guide RIK were awesome. He was so knowledgeable and patient. He knew Rome in the best way. Bus tours can't take you to where a bike tour can. I'll skip the bus tour next time and do a bike tour with Top rental. They were easy to find. Just one of the most amazing experiences we have every had. We have told all our family and friends about the tour, hopefully they will find them as easy as we did when they come to visit Rome. Just an overall wonderful experience. Without this experience we would not have been able to see most of Rome.

Nyree M.

Yelp
We rented electric bikes to tour the city on our own for a full day. BOY they helped us get around, and we have an amazing time just being free and roaming around - running into beautiful architecture and sites along the paths we took. Unfortunately the chain on our bike broke (only reason I didn't give 5 stars), and we were pretty far and had to walk back to the shop - but we were truly unbothered. It was a nice walk back and they promptly helped us and provided us with a new one. They didn't even charge us for both bikes due to the issue, and we kept both until they closed!!! They were absolutely kind and professional, and we recommend them to anyone considering getting around Rome quickly. Cost is reasonable as well :-)

Flora R.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good tour in Rome, don't hop a tourist bus! Hop on a bike and explore the city. TopBike was a great way to explore the city and worth the cost. It's best if you do this tour at the beginning of your stay so you'll have time to go back at your leisure and explore more in depth. Our guide Matteo was very sweet, but I wish he was a bit more fluent in English. We understood him but it would've been more fun if he felt comfortable speaking English. There was another tour guide there who looked amazing and super fun. So I guess it depends on who you get as a guide. Either way, it was fabulous.

Naomi T.

Yelp
What a great introduction to Rome!!!!!!! We had an amazing day with a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide -LORENZOOOOO!!! This trip was worth the money and also if you're out of shape or have a health condition like me -ask for an electric bike. That saved me from using all my energy during uphill climbs which there weren't many of but I was grateful I could rely on a little push. Yayyyy!!!! Thank you Ciro for helping us book the trip and Lorenzo for a fun and memorable dayyyyyy!

Dinh H.

Yelp
My wife and I attempted to book a tour through The website the day before the tour... the website would not allow this and requested us to either email or call them. I emailed since I did my want to be charged for long distance. An individual by the name of Maud emailed me back shortly providing information of the tours available in the next two days. My wife and I ended up going with the Appian Way bike tour. The bikes provided for the tour are absolutely wonderful. I chose a carbon fiber mountain bike and my wife chose the electric-assisted bike. If you are in decent shape, then the carbon fiber mountain bike will be just fine. If you are feeling a little under the weather but still want to power through the trip, get the electric-assisted bike. Our tour was led by Daniele. Daniele did a great job of leading this 6-hour tour. He had great presentation skills, and was prepared with visual aids to help explain features of the ruins that no longer exist. He did a fine job finding detours when the "usual" route was obstructed. Daniele made us feel more confident to browse more of the hidden gems of Rome on our own for our next visit. We would definitely recommend him to our friends and family if they plan on visiting.

Karen M.

Yelp
Wow. This is the way to see Rome. Our guide Daniella was amazing - perfect English. We took a private tour so we planned our route together. We stopped at one of his favorite places for a beer and coffee - delightful. And he took us down tons of alleyways and back streets instead of the busy byways, to really experience the residential parts of Rome. Also, the quality and condition of the bikes was impressive. And necessary - there were lots of hills, which we enjoyed but I can see how some might find it overly taxing. We had our two teenage daughters with us - one of which had the e-bike which was hugely helpful for her. All in all, I wish we had seen the whole city on bikes, on private tour with TopBike.

Linda C.

Yelp
So surprised how much I enjoyed our bike tour today. Stefan seemed to have graduated with a masters degree in Roman history. He shared so much info about the city and its history. Our group of 8 asked tons of questions and he knew all the answers and more. The electric bikes rock. Truly a great way to tour the city. I highly recommend it. Stefan also took the time to write on a map several good places to eat. Very helpful and much appreciated.

Madame P.

Yelp
Did a bike tour of Rome with friends... great panoramic views of the city and time to stop and take pictures/walk around at many of the sites. Our guide Ambra was wonderful - she is so personable and knows lots about the city. I highly recommend the electric bikes - there is no way a casual rider would be able to ride up all of the city's hill without one! With the electric bike you can concentrate on the views instead of pedaling ike crazy. Would definitely do again!

Peter B. E.

Yelp
A great variety of bikes, all in top condition, far better than anything we had expected. We did the trip with a lunch break (advertised as wine and cheese) and loved the food--the electric bike was very helpful for our 9 year old son, my wife wished she had picked one too, as it is just an assist, and not like riding a full powered vehicle.

Linda W.

Yelp
Fantastic ride through the aqueducts and around the city of Rome. We loved our guide and loved stopping for coffee. We got caught in the rain and they had ponchos for us and it didn't dampen the experience at all. Highly recommend for people of all ages. The electric bikes were excellent, easy to manage, and we felt safe while also covering a tremendous amount of ground. 10 out of 10 would do again and have recommended it to everyone as a must-do in Rome.

Michael W.

Yelp
We did the 18 mile Appian Way tour. Wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome. Easy reservation on line. Fast response in English. Three of us choose the lightweight and comfortable tour bike. My mountain bike buddy chose the mountain bike. He really liked the super lightweight carbon fiber bike. Our tour guide was Manuel, or Manno as I called him. In a word, this ride was close to epic. It was the high point of our trip. We stopped every so often and Manno explained points of interest. There were some novice riders so it was a casual pace. Stopped to visit a catacomb. Later we stopped at this cool old castle for cheese and wine. The story of the aqueducts was fascinating. Great company!

Tracy L.

Yelp
Responsiveness: Check. We booked the City Tour a day in advance during high season (June 2013) via e-mail asking if they had room to accommodate a party of two and with their prompt response we were on the 9:30AM tour. Gear: Check. The fact that I know the brand of the bike, Ghost Trekking 5100 Lady Bike (Germany company), means I enjoyed it enough to remember it. Ha, okay truth - I took a picture of it because I liked the bike so much I wanted to look into it when I got home and I just pulled it up as I am writing this review to remember what it was called. Besides the point, if I am going to go through all that trouble, it was a super comfy bike considering how bumpy the streets in Rome are. The usual accessories were provided - helmet, basket or small attachable bag in the front to carry your pocket goods or ladies' purses, and water. Group Size: 7 + Guide. I can't complain because I've been in private tours were the size was 2 + Guide and big group tours with 12 + Guide. It was a manageable size for the city since there's just too much going on in the streets that the guide wasn't really talking until we came to a stop at an attraction as he was more focused on our safety from point to point. Duration: 3-4 hours. Good length for a BRIEF, HIGH-LEVEL introduction to Rome and taking into consideration how hot it was in June. I emphasized high-level because you have to recognize that bike tours aren't meant to be thorough tours that allow you to spend time at individual attractions, it's more to orient you to the city and preview select key attractions to help you then prioritize the rest of your stay. I always start out with a bike tour to any new city I visit (as long as it's feasible) and definitely when I'm only visiting a new place for 2 days. Guide: AWESOME. Matteo was our very knowledgeable Italian guide. Super nice and friendly. No complaints. The best tip he gave us was when we were at the Pantheon and he told us to stop for a coffee at Tazza d'Oro if we returned earlier than the 15 minutes we were given to explore. Definitely go there for a granita de caffe or make your way back there during your stay in Rome. Safety: Check. We took a lot of side streets so we weren't really exposed to too much of the chaotic traffic with the bustling scooters and tour buses. Occasionally, when we had to cross traffic, Matteo was very good in getting right out there to make sure cars stopped and waited. I never felt unsafe during the tour even when there were times I was busy taking pictures with one hand and navigating the bike with the other. Recommendation: Must do.

Eric P.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience! This is a must do tour. Typically you go around Rome and see the usuals... This ain't it. This was the places mostly bike access would take you. You won't believe how close the city is to the country, the sites, Aqueducts, the old structures and history from the guide is fantastic. Do the Electric bike....it is amazing! A Cannodale model, will make the ride comfortable and fun. You are in a small group so that helps too. I would do it again. Thank you TopBike for providing such a great tour of value and experience.

Tony T.

Yelp
Real nice people that run a cool bike shop. The bikes and gear are good quality and well-maintained. Excellent value. I rented a hybrid to use for a day on my own and had a blast. Next time I'll do one of their tours.

Meredith L.

Yelp
Our tour at Top Bike was an excellent way to travel the city efficiently and see several sites. It allowed us to decide on places we wanted to revisit to explore more in depth and other spots that were less of a priority for the rest of our trip. We took the afternoon tour from 3-7PM and our guide brought us to several beautiful (lesser known) spots that were great for photos and we never would have found ourselves. Our tour guide was Daniele and he was fantastic not only on the tour, but suggesting delicious restaurants and good activities to do for our remaining time in Rome. The Top Bike afternoon tour is the best way to cover the sights in Rome!

Rachael D.

Yelp
So much fun! This was our favorite thing we did in Rome. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. He had a strong knowledge of Roman history and facts. The tour touched on most of the highlights/sites of Rome. The bikes were also electric motorized so it was not a strenuous bike trip. Very fun, entertaining and worth the time/money. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Roma P.

Yelp
We were 3 groups of 10 each, ages from 7 year to 75 year. Each and everyone had amazing memorable time. We still talk about how much fun we had that day in Rome. Your tour guides were really friendly and helped us coping with over 100 degree weather that day.Tour guides made sure we all take breaks for water at every stops. We were like I said 30 of us in 3 groups one after another 10 mins apart. Somehow we all got to do lunch together and ice cream breaks I have been telling everyone to do bike tour no matter just where in Italy just from the experience we all had. Can't wait to go back to Italy!!! Awesome experience

A C.

Yelp
Our bike tour with Jesse was a great first day introduction to central Rome. The folks at the bike shop set up us with very nice rental bikes, plus clean helmets in good condition, and made sure everything fit us and and was adjusted properly. Everything g was done quickly without any waiting, but we never felt rushed. Jesse, our guide, went out of his way to tailor the tour to our interests. He had interesting information to share at our stops along the way, gave recommendations for food and activities for our stay, and was always eager to answer questions and share interesting stories about life in Rome. I would highly recommend a bike tour with Top Bike, they went above and beyond in making our tour a great experience.

T R.

Yelp
We had 11 days in Europe and finished in Rome. This tour was GREAT. Our guide Stephan was very knowledgeable and even though it was hot, the electric bikes made it much better. Highly recommend this tour

Landon T.

Yelp
We did a full day tour of Rome with the electric bikes. The tour guide was knowledgeable, knew where he was going, and had great things to tell us about. We saw several parts of Rome and really got to know the area.It rained most of the day and the guide changed up the typical tour to adjust to the situation.

Logan C.

Yelp
Awesome. We booked the 18 kilometer Appian Way bike tour on a Tuesday, which was a 6 hour scheduled ride starting at 10:15am. Our primary tour guide was Simone, but we had 2 other tour guides in training (Maud and Francesco) which made our ride even more enjoyable. Beyond the 3 tour guides, we only had 3 paying tourists (myself and my wife, and a Australian student). We got outfitted on some awesome carbon fiber bikes, which were really light, comfortable, and fast. The bikes made the ride super easy. The tour starts out with by riding through some back-streets and on sidewalks to visit a few items of interest before heading out onto the Appian Way (which starts just to the East of the Circus Maximus). Our guide would stop every few minutes to tell us something interesting about what we were seeing on our ride, and to give us some context. After about an hour, we arrived at the Catacombs of San Sebastiano, which is a Vatican owned crypt housing more than 500,000 bodies. This was an interesting pit-stop, which gave us 30 minute overview and tour of the tombs (all of the tombs that you visit are without bodies/bones, so don't worry about not being grossed out). After the tour, we got back on the bikes and headed further down the Appian Way. We then turned off the Appian Way in order to see the Roman Acqueducts (Parco degli Acquedotti), and finally ended up at a working sheep farm to have our lunch which included pizza, bread, 2 types of fresh sheep cheese, and a few bottles of wine. As luck would have it, I had some salami to contribute to our feast, which was a nice touch. After lunch, it had started to rain and our guides provided us with some ponchos, which helped us keep dry. Overall this was a very enjoyable ride; we got to get some exercise and see some things we wouldn't have seen on our own, and it wasn't too hard or taxing on our bodies. I would highly recommend this tour.

Yelp
Rented e-bikes from TopBike Rental for our day riding the Appian Way. The staff were great and really helpful, friendly and spoke many languages (including English). They picked a good route for us to get to the Appian Way and also warned us about the sections where the roads were horrible (huge uneven cobblestones). Apparently they have great tours throughout Rome. Would recommend to all adventurous souls.

Yelp
Our first activity right when we hit the city, and the timing of this couldn't have been better. We were highly recommended to do this by someone else who took the tour and it became one of the highlights of our entire trip. Alessandra was our tour guide and was just so sweet, so knowledgable, so accommodating, and such a great resource for our trip with restaurant recommendations, insights into life in Rome as a young person, and great with leading groups through a pretty busy city and keeping us safe on our bikes. The tour was not exhausting, and you didn't need to be some doped-up lance Armstrong to manage. The tour went to way more of the typical tourist spots, and not so typical, than you'd ever be able to cover without being grumpy, exhausted and lost on your own. For that reason, seeing this through the bike tour on our first day, and then going back to things on the next day in a self guided fashion was the total perfect order of things. Can't speak highly enough of this tour. Throughout our trip when we met other travelers passing through Rome we insisted they take the tour on their first days... Would recommend this to anyone, and if you can get Alessandra as your tour guide consider yourself lucky!
