Love this place Every. Single. Time I. Go. First, the atmosphere and staff are excellent and kind. The price for the portion is extraordinary in this economy. The attention to effort and detail when preparing every dish is unmatched. We shared almost every dish cause there was literally that much food on each plate. My SO has gluten sensitivity, and they were very helpful in dish selection. They were unable to find their gluten-free menu, so after ordering, the staff literally created more gluten-free for menu for future diners. My parents own a hood soul food restaurant in New Orleans, and my entire family thinks this place is legit.

I'm on the road cross country 3/4 weeks a month, and this was hands down one of the best meals I've had anywhere in the USA. Food was 11/10 absolutely phenomenal. Landry, our server was outstanding 11/10 stars. Attentive, polite, knowledgeable, and professional. Drinks were absolutely perfect and delicious 11/10 And Desert was out of this world 12/10 Can't say enough good things about Tope La, absolutely recommend. This place was out of the park perfect.

Tried for the first time recently. Atmosphere was nice aside from the years old Covid barriers now well worn with scratches and scrapes. Really cheapens the mood. Wouldn't hurt to replace them if they are going to stay. Food was great, but fell just a little short of outstanding. Not at all bad, but in this price range I believe we have other favorites in the area still. Drinks were great and service was excellent as well. If you haven't been I think it's a great spot to try.

Amazing Amazing Amazing! From entry to exit!! We've actually stayed in the bed and breakfast upstairs before but never sat in the restaurant to eat. When I tell you we were impressed that would be an understatement. The owner was onsite...and working alongside her employees. The food...well, I'll stop at I asked the chef for his recipe to the bread pudding sauce (and I'm a baker)and presentation is EVERYTHING to me, they did not disappoint. Sarah, our server was so friendly...like a sister we'd just met. If I could 10 star this restaurant, I certainly would! FYI the chef did NOT share that recipe, but I ate enough to figure it out...

I've been many times in the past and each time I returned the taste of the food seems to diminished. Steak's coming out blue rare instead of medium and full of grit from the grill, seafood smells like it set out too long, blacked alligator that was as bright as grilled chicken and no seasoning. Menu options are just not up to my standards for the cost of the dishes offered. When I walk into a higher end restaurant and have to spend upwards of 200$ for two people I expect to have food that sets my taste buds ablaze with explosions of flavor. Drinks from the bar should have flavor also, not taste like I'm drinking Everclear. I guess if you are into that, then that's ok. This last visit I was not impressed and neither was the person who dine with me.

First visit here. We had the Red Bean Queso! Fantastic! Dipped our bread with it too! My husband had the Crabmeat Stuffed Redfish, and I had the Steak Smoked Gouda Alfredo. Both were perfectly seasoned and delicious! The steak... PERFECT!We will definitely be back! The service was excellent!

The food was delicious, every course of the meal! I enjoyed coming here and recommend it. They have some interesting menu items. I can only speak for the one I tried, the sugar Cane Grilled salmon. It was delicious.

One of Hammond's most upscale restaurants. Always great food and great service. Prices aren't overly crazy even though they are a high-end place to dine. Usually need reservations for a Friday or Saturday evening meal. It's worth the wait.

Beware! Always ask where the seafood comes from when it says "imported." We asked our waitress where the jumbo shrimp were imported from; she checked and came back saying, "India!" Seriously? We are in Louisiana! They said they get the freshest shrimp! How fresh can they be? The service was great. The food we ordered (not imported) was very good.

They seated us before 11am. The $3 champagne was a hit! The server was a nice young lady that remembered all I asked for and checked on us a few times during our visit. Oh! The food was fantastic! Portions were large. Also, the $4 Bloody Mary's were on point! The place seems like it's been there for over 20 years and a little wore. However, they still keep the quality of service an important factor. It was a nice experience.

I LOVE Tope La! Splurge on yourself and treat your others! Fine dining at its FINEST! Start with conversation and beverages at the bar. Chat with the local Hammonians( Hahahaha!) and the bar keeper( He Rocks!) The kind efficient staff will pleasantly guide you along your dining adventure. Everybody frequents and dines here..!! Why? Because Tope La rocks!! All the food offering are tasty, unique, plentiful, fresh, shareable, and worthy of a WOW! I am a creature of habit and when I order something and love it I am stuck. The fish special with the crabmeat topping is worthy of your last meal!!! It is consistent and a taste bud explosion. If you are wanting to impress and experience bliss... Dine here!! You will see everyone you know!

Tope la has won our taste buds and hearts! We were in Hammond for my granddaughter's graduation May 15th and due to unforeseen circumstances, the restaurant we initially reserved had to cancel their lunch service - one quick last-minute call and Tope la graciously squeezed our party in. Our server Sydney was the BEST, friendly, gracious, patient, knowledgeable - just all around the best. Be sure to ask for her! The food was amazing! We were all well pleased and will definitely be back for dinner when we are back in Louisiana.

April 25, 2025 - I have gone to Tope La many times. But, the last few times we went there the food was just ok, not as good as it use to be. Today I found out that Tope La is only open on Wednesday thur Sunday. Not open on Tuesday anymore. No more all day Lunch Price on Tuesday or any other day. But, they have Italian night on Thursdays. Their Crawfish is from Spain and their Shrimp are Imported. They do not have Louisiana Catfish. We live in Louisiana close to the Gulf and we can't even get Louisiana Seafood. How nice. :-/

Love this super cute place . Great for dates and hanging with friends . Service is great! And food is really good!

Tope La was an okay restaurant. The food wasn't horrible but the actual restaurant was not the best. The inside of the restaurant had a strange smell and the service took very long. The bathrooms smelled like sewage and the mirror on the wall by our booth was dirty. I got the stuffed redfish and it was okay. I liked the spinach dip on top but wouldn't say it was worth the 30 dollars.

We took my wife's best friend out for her birthday dinner and set the reservation for 730 pm. We got there and got seated. Our waitress finally made it.to greet us around 10-15 after we were seated. Took our drink orders and appetizer orders. We ordered the blackened grilled applicator and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Great flavor. The crab and eggplant stack was also a hit two fried eggplant stacked on sauteed spinach topped with a crab sauce. For dinner we had the 6 oz bacon-wrapped filet minor, boiled redfish topped with a lump crab sauce and pecan rice, and the top la country fried steak topped with an andouille sauce on mashed potatoes. All were a hit and cooked to perfection. For dessert, it was the favorite of bread pudding with a side of bananas and topped with a bit of infused sauce and the chocolate mousse cake with a raspberry drizzle. Again, these were awesome. My only issue was that our server seemed to disappear a lot and was hard to find, these were the four stars. Service wasn't bad but could have been better for the price we were paying. All in all, this was a great experience, and my wife's best friend had a great bday dinner.

Excellent food. The kitchen does not disappoint. Wait staff is impeccable. Treat yourself to an excellent meal and wonderful dining experience.

My friends and I gave Tope La a try last week as a post Christmas treat. And what a treat it was! We went midday so we're able to order from the lunch menu. We started with red bean queso as an appetizer. It was something new for us. So delicious. It was made with puréed red bens, smoked sausage and cheese. This came served with a plate of fresh tortilla chips. I ordered the sugar cane salmon which was grilled salmon drizzled with cane syrup. It was tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and inviting. All staff members were quite friendly. I will definitely be back.

Wonderful date night me the wife and I. Everything was perfect, on time and the waitress was great. Food was beautiful.

My wife and I went during her birthday weekend in mid-October. It was a Saturday and we were practically the only ones there. The food was amazing, our waitress (Amber) made wonderful recommendations and the ambiance was so nice. The first hostess that sat us down, I did not care for much, a bit snooty, but the second one was much better and cheery! I am vegan and Amber coordinated with the chef to 'veganize' a plate for me, which I was very thankful for!!! Definitely the best out the so called 'fine dining' ones that we have frequented in Hammond so far. We can't wait to come back for our dinner date real soon!!!

Tope La is our go to restaurant in Hammond for many reasons. The food is amazing and the portions are HUGE!! Get ready to take some of your meal home with you. The chef is a great guy who runs a tight kitchen. Everything comes out hot and fresh. Very creative specials. Their Thursday night Italian Night can't be missed. Thanks for such a wonderful place!!

In Hammond for a downtown festival/street fair featuring - among other things - the amazing Marc Broussard. I'd heard about the place through the 'vine and am so glad to have had the opportunity to try their menu. Loved the vibe walking in and landed at the bar - where else, right? Bartender made a nice cocktail and ordered the "Crabmeat Stuffed Redfish" - with an artichoke, sun dried tomato, spinach and Pepper Jack cream sauce. This was very nicely done and I did everything except lick my plate before it was all over. Great meal and would highly recommend this spot for any Yelpers out there!

Food was all around amazing from appetizer to dessert I enjoyed everything I put in my mouth! Our service was 10/10 wish I could remember the young lady's name that waited on us she was awesome. The atmosphere and ambiance was also very good had a great time and very much enjoyed all aspects of our meal!

One of the best meals I've ever had. Tournedos Lafourche. If you are in Hammond you should definitely check out this place.

We had a birthday dinner at Tope La last evening, a rather rare event with us. The food, steaks, were great. Wonderful service, outstanding atmosphere. And, of course, a bit of bread pudding. Keep up the good work!!

The real showstopper was the Asian duck! But definitely don't sleep on the Gouda Alfredo with steak.

The food was delicious! Very flavorful and tasty. I love the fact that they have outside seating. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed the weather while eating our delicious food. The steak wrap was my favorite.

Good food, most likely will be back. The fried olives are a unique take. Please let them cool off before eating. Very good food

I went to Tope La a few weeks ago for my friend's graduation lunch. My friend and so many other people in Hammond had hyped this place us so much but I wasn't entirely impressed. She had a large reservation and it seemed as though they may have forgotten about it because we sat in two separate booths next to each other instead of at a table all together. The booths were also uncomfortable and hard to get out of because you would sink pretty far into the booth which made eating a little hard to do comfortably. We ordered the bayou dip for the table and it was pretty good. I ordered the crab cakes which were also good but I was not a fan of the Sid wi ordered with it. The side I got was the shrimp and eggplant casserole and I was not a fan at all of it. The service was good and the restaurant seemed nice but overall it wasn't anything spectacular and was overrated. I'd rather go somewhere else for a nice restaurant experience, especially if I'm going to pay the prices we did for that lunch.

There gluten free menu is great and they are super accommodating! The food was delicious! The ambiance is a causal but formal restaurant!

Probably the nicest restaurant in Hammond. It is located in the historic downtown area near the railroad. We came for $1 martini night on Wednesday. The only martinis that are $1 are straight vodka or gin. You can make it dirty no charge. Flavored martinis like cosmos and lemon drops are $3. A full menu is available at the bar. We had the appetizer sampler which came with potato balls, corn dogs, alligator, andouille, and spicy shrimp. It was very good and a nice portion. I will definitely be back for a sit down meal and I will try Sunday brunch soon.

We were looking for local flavor for brunch and this was recommended by some friends. OH MY GOODNESS!!! The LaParrish Benedict was excellent and made perfectly to order...with the oysters on the side. And I had the Shrimp Extravaganza Hot Mess. It had shrimp on top of shrimp in a scrambled egg skillet! Let's just say, I might have hurt myself. Oh and the Bloody Mary's are on point too!

I didn't know what to expect when I came here. I don't know what kind of food they served here. I feel it's New Orleans comfort food with a fancy flare. Once I looked at the menu, I found multiple things I would like to try but I decided to go with the chicken stack. I easily described it as chicken parm with shrimp. I don't feel that description does it justice. This was phenomenal! The chicken had a nice crunch and flavor while still being juicy. The sauce was a marinara cream sauce which was perfect. The cheesy shrimp topping was just perfection. I had a side of au gratin potatoes which was some of the best au gratin potatoes I've ever had. I'm sad I didn't get to this place sooner but I will be back!!!

Excellent food. Went here twice and had crab cakes and then Asian duck. Both were excellent. Service is always poor though. Can't get refills or get them to come to your table unless you are ordering or they bring your order to you.

Took forever to get food and it wasn't very busy. Chicken and waffles -- terrible batter and it was burnt. Waffle was tough and not sure what they used but it didn't taste like a waffle. Also had what looked like little pork squares on it.

Delicious farm to table food concept. I was surprisingly happy to find this quaint restaurant in the downtown area. They have a nice big round bar thats fun to sit at and have a drink before you sit down for dinner and they also have a decent happy hour.We had a whole spread for our table and started with Alligator, "Uncle E's" Crispy Smoked Wings, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and my favorite ...Red Bean Queso. Their menu is mostly southern/cajun with a twist of freshness. I would definitely come back to this resturant when we are in town.

We made reservations for Easter Brunch. We had no idea it was going to be buffet style and $40 per person with gratuity included. I'm not a fan of seafood but the spread was okay. We had eggs Benedict, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, chicken and waffles, and coffee. They also had seafood gumbo, mahi, grits, and I think crab bisque. Again I'm not a seafood person and am allergic to shellfish but they had plenty of other tasty items. We really enjoyed the desserts! Strawberry shortcake as well as the bread pudding was to die for! The coffee tasted like community which was a major plus! My friend sent back her orange juice because it tasted like Tang! The restaurant Is in an old building but has character. It felt a little muggy and warm as it began to fill up. My son was really surprised and enjoyed his Easter surprise brunch! The service was average as it got busier. Overall we enjoyed our experience and want to visit Hammond again!

Whooo whooo!! This place is amazing!! Although I live almost an hour away this would still be my top choice for Sunday Brunch. Heck...brunch, lunch, dinner...bring it all on! I met my girlfriends here for brunch and we started with a few $2 mimosas and $3 bloody marys. Then we added the most amazing appetizer while making our entrée choices...a red bean queso dip. This was so unbelievably good and so unique! It was smoky and creamy and not overpowering especially for someone like me who only considers themselves a mediocre fan of traditional red beans. I seriously wanted to hog the entire bowl away from my two friends. Even the chips that came with it had a little bit of a mild peppery flavor. I wish I could get the recipe for this because it would be a huge hit at parties!! For my entrée I choose the Tope La Sardou. They took a traditional Eggs Sardou (which is kind of like an eggs Benedict with sautéed spinach added in) and they kicked it up a notch by serving it over fried artichoke cakes...yes, fried artichoke cakes! And if that's not enough it comes paired with a mini serving of Pain Perdue (French toast) toped with fresh berries and sauce. Everything we ate was so flavorful, so filling and so perfectly cooked that just writing about it has me craving more! The best part was that the price was moderate and quite reasonable for a nice Sunday brunch gathering. The ambience of the restaurant is classy but not overly fancy and the service was top-notch. I can't wait to go back and make this Sunday Brunch a regular occurrence on my calendar!

From Alabama. Never been to Louisiana before until this week. Tope La is a MUST HAVE if you're in the area. Located about 45 minutes from NOLA. Phenomenal food, AWESOME service!!! Also check and see if Austin is in at the bar if you want a drink with your meal. I mean, it's all amazing!!!!

I seen a lot of reviews about this place so decided to check it out since I live in the area and I must admit it really surprised me. I wish I would've ate here sooner! If you're going to eat here the red bean queso is a must, it's by far my favorite thing I've had here and I will most likely get it every time I come here. We also decided to try the creme brûlée and it was also fantastic.

Tope la is yummy. They have some interesting creations on the menu for dinner service... but brunch is awesome. I only go here for that honestly. Service is usually good i think I've had one sketchy waitress but we all have bad days. Cute place to go on a date. Really nice interior though it could use a good dusting.

Not bad. I had the ribeye and it was cooked like I ordered. Sometimes places can over cook a ribeye, but this one was spot on. Mashed potatoes were great as well! Definitely a drinking spot as every table we passed had a martini glass. Looking at the menu, I can see why. Not a bad place to stop!

Our dining experience was horrible. Waitress was far less than attentive. Food came out cold and the medium rare steak came out med well. The Pasta Bake was sent back (cold and no flavor) and the waitress copped an attitude. Wine was old and flat. I sent email complaining and when questioned I returned my response. Never heard another word. Last question I was asked was how did the manager handle our complaints? I responded, funny thing, the manager never came to our table. Will NEVER go back. Do not waster your money on this place.

This is a great staple in Hammond cuisine, and has been a reliable choice for quality food for years now. The Maurpas chicken dish is my personal favorite dish, fried chicken filled with crawfish and other flavorful items, served with with a tangy hollandaise sauce and crisp fresh green beans. However, the five star options are the desserts. The creme brûlée is good, but the banana foster bread pudding is worth a visit alone. For an $8 (with tax) purchase, I will go there and eat it alone! The sauce is carmelized and thick, a refreshing take on the typical New Orleans style sauce. The sauce on top is crisped and it makes a praline type flavor. The bananas served in and alongside the dish also improve the flavor and texture. This is a MUST-BUY purchase. Let me know how you enjoyed it! I snuck over here during the intermission of a play at Columbia theater.

We took a shot on this place one night as me and my husband were trying to find new places to eat besides our same old regulars. Tope La did not disappoint! We've been back several times since and is now one of our favorites. Everything we had tried so far has been delicious and generous portions. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I adore this place so much! The staff was very sweet and the food is absolutely delicious! We got the seafood plate and let me tell you it is worth it! The plate is huge and filling. They don't skip out on anything either the shrimp are gigantic!

Owner, Jim, is possibly one of the rudest people I've ever spoken to. We used to frequent here, in large groups occasionally as well, and now everyone knows- I'll never go back to Tope La. Food is the same anyway (protein + cream sauce.) Being locally owned, I was dedicated to supporting it. Now I know all too well just who I was supporting. We'll continue to pass and refer against it.

If I could give them 10 stars I would!!! Food is phenomenal, do yourself a favor and try the potato au gratin, steak pasta and the spinach dip! You will not be disappointed! Another big bonus is the amazing bar service and prices really are not too bad!!

Came here for brunch with the family. First time. Not let down at all. Excellent staff. The place was super clean. The food was outstanding! I will return

Mel is the best bartender in Hammond. She loves you and still has a little bit of attitude. Steak is top notch. It's not unlike the show Cheers in here. In other words, if you want some spunk and some good food, come here tonight.

I have been here twice in the last year and for restaurants in Hammond, this one is near the top of the list with respect to class, presentation and steaks/seafood selections. The steaks (filet) and seafood here is very good and up there with the top restaurants in Louisiana. The appetizers are also excellent with the bada-Bing shrimp, blackened alligator (try finding that in the Midwest) and the andouille corn dogs being my favorites. They also have a full bar and excellent wine selection so if you have a special occasion or want to entertain guests, don't hesitate to make this your dining selection. Enjoy!

We're giving Tope La five stars because not only were the dishes interesting and delicious, (eggplant/crab stack and Redfish) but the friendly staff went out of their way to assist us getting back to our hotel when Uber software gremlins messed up our ride. Special shout-out to Mark who went above and beyond - much appreciated.

I had the shrimp and grits it was okay I enjoyed my drinks. Need better lighting for pics but overall okay experience

Ordered 2 salads last night to go, a Magnolia Salad and a Shrimp Remoulade salad .. How can a place mess up a salad? First off there was NO shrimp in my Shrimp Remoulade salad, secondly it came with 3 fried green tomatoes that taste like hard rocks, the smaller tomatoes tasted sour and i had 1 little "piece"of a cucumber! The total of both was $31.90... I basically threw away $31.90 because no one even answered the phone when i called to discuss this and obviously no one cared enough to make $31.90 of salads taste good. There will be no return trip.

First time visit. If I'm ever back in Hammond I may make a reappearance. The shrimp & corn florentine bisque was OFF THE CHARTS amazing. The texture, the flavors, the amount of ingredients. It was hands down perfection. For my meal I had the Lobster & Eggplant Alfredo. It was quite delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the large onion slices in the pasta. Was a bit overwhelming. Very good meal though. Our server was quite friendly and the food didn't take long at all. Nice spot!
