We stayed here for three nights while walking around Dartmoor - Justine was a great host and was happy to help us out with local walks, pubs and the like. The house and gardens are a great setting, we especially loved getting to know the dogs, chickens, ducks and sheep! The breakfast was delicious each day and the rooms were spotless each night when we came back. We'd definitely stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The house and the room we were in (we stayed in the Lilly suite!) Had absolutely beautiful decor. It was perfectly clean, the bathroom in particular was clean as a whistle which I was very pleased with... No one wants a gross shower cubicle 😄 tea services and mini fridge in the room were really good too. the location is very pretty, just do bare in mind that Dartmoor gets cold and misty if you haven't been before! Lol. It is the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing weekend away. I highly recommended.

We have just returned from spending a couple of days at Tor Royal, wow an amazing house in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature at its best, a lovely working farm with a fascinating history. . We stayed in The Garden Room, which was perfect for our dog with a private enclosed garden. Very friendly hostess and brilliant breakfast. If you want a peaceful welcoming B&B in a brilliant location, this is for you! Loved it.

Justine is amazing, she was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and had useful amenities like a bath, microwave, tea facilities, mini fridge and flatscreen with Netflix and Prime setup. Location-wise you are near great walks, amid beautiful Dartmoor countryside, and can walk to the pub and tourist centre. The farm itself is peaceful and quiet - all you hear is the animals. Dog/cat/horse lovers will be in heaven here. Breakfast is lovely. Also very reasonable price.

Returning to celebrate our wedding anniversary, this time with two horses and a dog in tow! Pubs were closed (thank you covid) so Justine cooked a delicious supper for us on our first evening. Stabling and grazing were available and the horses soon settled. Our dog decided that life as a farm dog was very acceptable and our room was delightful with a door out to a small enclosed garden. We slept so well despite it being three of the hottest days of the year, breakfast was delicious and the possibilities of riding or walking out onto the moor are fantastic. We were unlucky to pick a week when one pub was closed and the other closed down in Princetown which is a good walk up the road from Tor Royal ( spectacular views) but we ate in The Fox Tor cafe at lunchtime and had a trip to Tavistock on the other day. We rode, walked and even found places to swim and had a few days of Dartmoor adventure, based at friendly and comfortable Tor Royal.

We stayed here for two nights and would have loved to stay longer, which our schedule unfortunately didn't permit. Tor Royal is perfectly located within Dartmoor and it's only a short drive to the major attractions. The Building which houses the B&B is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are beautifully furnished. We enjoyed every second of our stay. The hosting family is very helpful and friendly. Oh, and the breakfast was amazing!! We'd love to stay here again someday.

We spent a fantastic week at Tor Royal and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Justine gave us a warm welcome and helpful tips throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble.
Fantastic historic building in a beautiful location. It felt homely and comfortable immediately and so peaceful .
We were there during a heatwave which meant our room (Cosy Courtyard) was pretty warm! Justine gave us a sheet as the quilt was too much for us and provided a tower fan. The room is ‘cosy’ but has everything you need (wardrobe, kettle & drinks, small fridge, hairdryer & tv) and the shower is out of this world!
After 3 nights we were given the option to upgrade to the Garden Room as it was cooler and was going to be empty. It is very spacious and has a microwave + larger fridge as well as a king size bed. It also has 2 easy chairs and door to a private courtyard/garden area.
Breakfast was good - nice selection of fruit, cereals, yoghurts and toast plus a cooked option. We’re both vegetarians and this was no problem. The breakfast room is beautiful and the views from it are wonderful.
We originally booked here because of the proximity to Princetown so that we could walk here for our evening meals, however one pub is up for sale and the other closed due to Covid. We ended up doing the short drive to Yelverton to eat at The Rock most evenings. Good basic pub food.
Our favourite place was Tavistock though - also a short drive and a lovely market town.
It was too hot to do the moorland walks we’d planned so we visited several reservoirs + Lydford Gorge - definitely worth a visit.
The biggest challenge was the roads which were often so narrow you had to reverse quite a way so cars could pass! It took about 3 days to get in to the groove, but the views everywhere you go are breathtaking.
All in all a wonderful break and we can’t wait to return!

Fantastic little B&B, situated an easy walk outside of Princetown and within wonderfully picturesque farm buildings. Very comfortable lodgings (great bed!) and brilliant breakfast. House itself is a wonderful mix of styles and a whole lot of fun; hosts were fantastic (including the furry ones). Overall a brilliant stay, great location for visiting all parts of the moor and would definitely recommend it.
