The Best Shopping in Paris, According to French Fashion Insider Sarah de Mavaleix | Vogue

"We’re very lucky to have a Toraya in Paris. (The original location is in Kyoto near Maruyama Park.) It’s unique and there’s nothing better than the matcha and cakes! I hope that I can spend an afternoon there soon." - Zoe Ruffner

Toraya is a lovely spot for a peaceful coffee catch-up with a touch of Japanese elegance. We enjoyed matcha teas alongside a selection of their delicate bean pastries and fresh mochi. The highlight for us was the monakas—we only wish we had tried them earlier so we could have ordered more! When we arrived, the atmosphere was incredibly quiet, with individuals studying or reading alone, making the soft bird soundtrack almost the only sound in the room. It created a serene and calming ambiance, though later, as more people arrived, the space became livelier with conversation. The service was exceptionally polite and kind, and the minimalist Japanese decor added to the tranquil experience. A wonderful place for tea, sweets, and a moment of quiet in the city.

Had a pleasant experience at this Japanese restaurant. The food quality was good, with fresh ingredients and well-prepared dishes. The ambiance was comfortable, and the service was attentive. I would recommend it to those looking for a solid Japanese dining option.

This place offers an exceptional experience for those seeking high-quality, authentic Japanese sweet and tea and lunch . The options are incredibly delicious, crafted with care and attention to detail, and the sweets are equally delightful. The atmosphere is calm and serene, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a peaceful meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking to savor a taste of Japan in a tranquil setting!

Beyond coffee and boulangeries there is great food experiences of different cultures. Like this modern Japanese tearoom serving traditional Japanese confectionery (wagashi), green teas and matcha of many varieties. I tried the classic matcha which was well made and completely infused into the water to give strong earthy tones. The tea with roasted rice was also beautifully made and the aroma was great. We also tried a little treat of their seasonal special - apple. Very unique and unlike anything I've tasted, the flavours were strong and natural and the texture was smooth along with the coldness. I loved this place from the service to the traditional tea room plates and cutlery. Come here if you ever want a unique tearoom experience!

Tucked in a quiet street but so close to all the tourist attractions! Much needed ice cold dessert on a sunny day. First time trying quality kakigori (Japanese shaved ice) with matcha syrup and red beans! There are sooo much red beans inside which is a good surprise. Not overly sweet! It was perfect to share! You can also get other Japanese snacks for takeaway!

We went there for Saturday breakfast. The food was great, very delicious, but the sweets, although they looked amazing were a little bit tasteless. The tea was also very soft, just perfect. We took The Menu Salade Avocat - Matcha Soba and Menu Sekihan. When I will come back next time I will probably not try the sweets.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Super authentic and everything was made to perfection. If you're ever in Paris, be sure to stop by for lunch or tea! One of the best meals we had whilst we were visiting Paris, was simple and healthy...a welcome change from all the super rich French food we had eaten!

We got a takeaway matcha latte and two desserts. After paying a ridiculous amount we were told to wait next to the registration where everyone had to pass us by squeezing us and themselves into this small area. At the end we got a half full cup with matcha latte. Dorayaki was too cold and felt like biting into a very dry sponge, the chestnut rice cake we got was nice but was it worth 6.50 Euros for one bite? Absolutely not. Can't say anything about their food but takeaway system needs working, also 8.50 Euros for half a cup of matcha is ridiculous. If you are visiting Paris just go to any bakery and get yourself any other dessert in our opinion.

Yelp
Toraya offers a clean, sleek place to rest in between all that shopping nearby. The desserts and tea are decent, but the prices are too steep for the offerings.

Yelp
Clean spot with cute decor offering a wide variety of " An " sweetened bean paste based desserts. They all look great but bear in mind that it's for sweet tooth eaters, so don't forget to ask for water. I thought I could go there to get some work done but the subway train runs right underneath and quite frequently interrupts the ambiant zen-ness. Upon stepping in I was ask not to stay longer that an hour and half. Definitely a must try, and not as expensive as it looks. Can't wait to come back for lunch

Yelp
Nice Japanese tea house near Place de la Concorde featuring tea and Japanese desserts. Terrific genmaicha. Some light meals available (photos of 2 of the 4). Reservations necessary, and at res time they claim to be strict about 1:15 time till next reservation. Staff are French and Japanese.

Yelp
I just wasn't super blown away to be honest. Service was exceptional but like food was good just not great. I think for the price I paid I feel like it should of been a little more better than just alright. Although one thing I would love to say with all the cream anmitsu's I've had, I've never had it with apricots. Props to them for that.

Yelp
Really liked this place - very helpful staff and the pastries (not sure if you call them that) were excellent. A bit pricey but you can kind of tell that when you arrive. Definitely recommend checking them out.
