Torigin Honten

Torigin Honten is a classic Ginza yakitori spot that lives up to its reputation. The line looked long but moved quickly, and we were lucky to sit at the counter—easily the best seats in the house. The staff were welcoming, and watching the chefs grill over charcoal added to the experience. We tried a wide variety of yakitori, all expertly grilled and full of flavor, along with the made-to-order gomoku kamameshi, which was fluffy and delicious. Simple sides and cold beer (plus a glass of wine) rounded out a very satisfying meal. Cash only, but absolutely worth it. A timeless, authentic yakitori experience we’d happily return to.

A line for lunch on Monday, 17mins wait. Once seated, rushed through to order a set lunch, discouraged ordering sides, then waited a while for the set. The set came out sporadically, not as a set, all staff in rush mode, hard to catch one to order more or request for tea. We ordered extra yummy skewers, not overly seasoned, perhaps their signature items. Well, It came down to be a fancy sit down yakitori for the elderly at lunch. Set lunch kamameshi is just average. Service needs much improvement before we would come back. Hire more cooks + service staff to flip through tables quickly. Nice atmosphere but not able to take it in with the rush meals

Nestled in an alley, this restaurant serves great kushiyaki and Kamameshi dishes. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. The only inconvenient thing here is they only take cash. We showed up around 8 on Friday and waited about 20min before being seated. Staff friendly. English menu available.

Great place to have a meal as a tourist. Was carrying a lot of items and they offered to keep it for us. Owner laid a piece of mat so that our stuffs isn’t directly on the floor.

Very rude non-Japanese counter chef, agitatedly shouted at me in so many Japanese(?) words when i was just trying to get a bag basket from the other chair because the one I had under mine was taken by the old lady beside me. The other wait staff was quick to understand what has happened and apologized to me and brought me a different basket. The chef could have instructed the other wait staff to assist me instead of screaming at me directly. I became more cautious of doing things from then on and really hampered my enjoyment of the otherwise excellent yakitori. The shake kamameshi is just OK, not worth the 1500yen imo. The squeeze your own lemon for the lemon sour was a cool experience. The other staff are the standard, courteous Japanese service. No points against them. It's just that one rude non-Japanese chef which deserves the one-star rating for the service. (Zero stars tbh)

Taste so good! But feels like dinner is better than lunch, we stayed in Tokyo for four days and visited twice. Recommend to go!

Looked on google maps to find a yakitori place that would have affordable prices since I was staying and Ginza (and it being an expensive area). Meats were all cooked well. The light soy flavouring was a but mild. Wait time was okay. I also ordered salmon with rice but wouldn’t recommend as it was 1,500 yen with lots of rice and 4 small pieces of salmon without seasoning (which also became overcooked from the hot rice).

Torigin Honten has become one of my favorite spots in Tokyo—I’ve been here twice on my recent trips, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, the kind of place that feels both authentic and comfortable for locals and visitors alike. Their chicken wings yakitori are absolutely the best I’ve had—perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of flavor. The skewers are done with such consistency that you can’t help but order more. Alongside that, the rest of the yakitori selection is also excellent, making it a must-visit for anyone who enjoys great grilled chicken dishes. Service is warm and efficient, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. For me, Torigin Honten is hands down the place to go if you’re after top-quality yakitori in Tokyo.
