Torimaru Ramen

Best bowl of tonkotsu ramen in that vicinity for that price! The broth is perfectly thick and tasty, noodles are just right, chai siu is tasty and perfectly torched to add a different flavour, and with traditional toppings, honestly best bowl of ramen for that price I have had in van since moving here 2yrs ago. Portion might look small but it’s actually perfectly adequate! The staff are friendly and the service is fast! 12/10 would keep coming back! Never thought I’d get such good ramen at a food court, it also took me to a place I never thought I’d visit!:-)

Whenever I work close by Chinatown I would visit Torimaru. Located at the food court of international village. Another authentic style ramen place. I'm not the biggest fan of the thinner noodles but everything else is top notch. Great price point! Also, despite the limitation of the location they do their best to offer some extra toppings like chili or other seasoning.

Astounding flavour and value. The chef on Friday was exceptional, this is highly recommended, especially given the price. We got the miso ramen and black tonkotsu. We wish the absolute best for this business!

Some of the only chicken paitan ramen in Vancouver and boy is it good. Great price as well.

Was recommended Torimaru, so had lunch here for the first time! Located in International Village Mall food court, so there is a lot of seating available. Had the Chicken Ramen ($13.80). It was delicious! Flavourful and creamy broth, good texture in the noodles, and sizeable pieces of chashu. It came with some minced garlic on the side. Satisfying portion size for lunch. Friendly staff and the food didn't take long after ordering. Very solid food court option! Would return.

Amazing ramen hidden in Tinseltown foodcourt! The noodles were perfect, the broth was rich and flavorful, and the ramen egg was delicious. Loved the option of fresh or fried garlic. The service was quick and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Torimaru Ramen is a must-try! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Food is really tasty, this place is a hidden gem for sure. Only issue is the portion size is a bit small, but the char siu slices are quite large, and I like that the broth doesn’t leave you thirsty afterwards. The noodles are super thin if you’re into that type.

Wow, what an amazing bowl of noodles! Torimaru Ramen is located on the rather sad second floor food court at Tinseltown in Chinatown. I had their Black Ramen with extra chasu added. Most places, the chasu often taste like a dead animal (in a bad way), but wow, wow, wow, their chasu was flavourful and soft, with that perfect unctuous jiggle-wobble! The broth was decadent and intense, in a very good way. Their bamboo had a nice texture and good flavour (I often find bamboo at other places to have an off-putting funk to it). The serving size might seem a bit small, but they are charging under $14 for it, and quite frankly, it is so rich that I think most people would be ok. The craftsmanship and care going into it makes me feel like I got a bargain. It was ridiculously delicious and I will make a point of coming here next time I go shopping at the nearby T&T or Costco. It really puts many of the other ramen out there to shame.

Torimaru Ramen is an unassuming two-man run ramen shop, located upstairs in the International Village's food court. They're right next to P&D Store. We dropped in on an early Monday evening (5:45pm). Service was friendly and cheerful. The menu is short and sweet with four ramen options ($10.80 to $11.80) and takoyaki. - Minced garlic - they give you a complimentary side of minced raw garlic. - Black ramen ($11.80) - noodles were solid, a touch firm, which I liked. Broth wasn't heavy, rather light and slightly creamy. Liked the addition of the bamboo shoots. - Shoyu ramen ($10.80) - had a spoonful of the chintan broth. Decent but I prefered the chicken broth. Can't beat the prices. TR's a perfect spot to grab a light, quick bowl of ramen.

A surprising find in the food court. I am super picky about ramen as most of the times, I find it could be something out of a packet with mediocre broth. I ordered the black ramen with garlic topping (free!). It came with 3 slices of chashu instead of the 2 as stated in the menu. Maybe it was nearing their closing time? The ramen noodle was al dente and the broth flavorful. I added chili flakes and the staff recommended the chili oil if I liked it spicy. I had the chili oil on the side as a dip for the meat and bamboo shoots. The chili oil had a bit of smokey flavor to it and seemed house made. It was good. The staff was also very cheerful and helpful in answering any questions I had on what to order. The prices are very decent at $10.80 to $11.80. Very affordable in the current climate of inflation. Free 2 hour parking in the mall.

Located in the International Village 2nd floor food court, decided to give it a try since it was a chilly evening and craving something warm. Ramen prices seem reasonable from $10.80-12.80. Tried to Black Ramen (chicken soup, 2 slices of pork chashu, half ajitama egg, green onions, bamboo shoot, red onions, roasted black garlic oil). The noodles were a bit too al dente for my taste. Chashu was a good slice, but was chewy. Did find too much flavor in the booth. Willing to give it another with one of their other bowls.

Totally surprised!! I was going to the Congee Noodle Delight and found out that they are now closed on Sundays!! Not wanting to go anywhere else and was getting hungry, thought of the famous Indonesian place in the food court...with my luck, they are closed on Sunday as well!! Walked by this ramen stall and thought I would give them a try, I have to say the young man that was the only person there was pretty angry to finally have a customer, as I waited for about 3 mins. before he slowly walked out from the back, he might have been enjoying his quiet nap!! Oh well, I made my order and he hardly said anything...maybe he was just being grumpy that day?? After about 6 mins. my noodles & takoyaki are ready to be picked up... Tan-tan Noodle ... have to say this is one of the best ... with just the right amount of "heat" from the chilli oil and a hint of the numbing Szechuan pepper, it was a perfect balance, the use of chicken broth actually makes this ramen more rounded and not as heavy as it would be if they choose to use pork bone broth!! Black Ramen ... noodles are al dente and cooked just to the right consistency! Again this is a chicken broth noodle with a splash of the roasted black garlic oil which is made from coconut oil! Very smooth in taste and has a creamy texture, another winner! Well, the young man's "coolness" is totally forgiven in this case, I will just treat him as one of those "artist" that don't like to interact with others! Next time, Torimaru will be the the sole reason for my visiting this food fair!! ( Oops, I still haven't tried the Indonesian place too!! )

Surprisingly good ramen place in the Tinseltown food court. Parking is available in the lot underneath the building. To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much. The staff are actually Japanese here. Staff were friendly. Service with a smile. The food is made to order, so it took some 15 minutes for them to make my food (black ramen). Pricing is very reasonable too, which is nice. The black ramen here is pretty tasty. Not sure why it's named the way it is. Nothing really black about it. Noodles are nice and fluffy. Served with half a soft egg and 2 slices of pork as well as the usual goodies. Broth is chicken. To be honest, this place is probably going to be my go to ramen place whenever I'm in the area. Recommended.

Can't believe I found this place in Tinsel town! I found Torimaru via Yelp and thought of trying their ramen in the end. Price is considered cheap. It's rare finding a ramen shop where it charges you $9- $10 per bowl. Food was great. The noodles were little clumpy, but it had all the toppings including egg, menma, chashu slices. It tasted good for the price and the portion. I wish my food was hotter with less clumpy noodles. Besides it had way too much noodles and less soup. Service was average.

Great food and great service! I'm surprised to find such a high calibre ramen place in a food court. You really get your money's worth. The portions were a tad bit smaller than I expected, but for $9.80 I think that's reasonable. I'll definitely be coming back!

This is one of food court stall highlights at this mall. We ordered some ramen for lunch. Only one person is working at this stall so service is as fast as one person can work. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the ramen. Broth was very flavourful. Noodles had a good chew. The chashu is on the lean side. I personally preferred pork belly over lean pork. However, this lean pork is the healthier option. It was torched for more flavour. The marinated egg was amazing. It was the perfect runny yolk.

Had the chicken ramen, which I found quite well prepared as the broth and noodle is really nice. This is a hidden gem in my opinion at the International Village food court. Not my first visit here, and I will definitely return again. Thanks Torimaru.

This was my favorite chicken ramen in a while. Deep, flavorful broth with thick noodles and assorted toppings. I liked this more than the version at Marutama's. Fast, friendly service. Portions seem small, but the price is competitive.

Tucked away in a mediocre mall is the absolute gem. The fundamentals are there, good noodles, exquisite broth and tender and chewy Chashu. The menu is tiny but you know then that it is authentic, as each bowl as heart and soul. The price is very competitive and quite low, which does not resemble the quality at all. The service is going to be sub-par, because its a brand new restaurant and essentially a one person show. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this delicious bowl.
