T+L's Hotel Review of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur

"Situated on the 53rd floor near the lobby, Torrito brings Peruvian–Japanese fusion to Kuala Lumpur; I was truly impressed with the menu, which spans ceviche and sushi to duck confit and steak, and the cocktails list includes a variety of flavored pisco sours." - Taylor McIntyre Taylor McIntyre Taylor McIntyre is a senior visual editor at People Inc., working on Travel + Leisure and TripSavvy. I’m from Peru, currently living in Australia. I hadn’t had Peruvian food for more than two and a half years, and when I came here and tried the ceviche, it instantly took me back to my childhood it was incredible! I also had the pleasure of meeting the chef, which made me so happy. I’m so proud of his work. Excellent customer service, food 10/10, and the views were amazing. I definitely recommend this place!

Went there twice in June’25 for my birthday and joining a friend for the dinner. The edamame is really unique (my pick) and my friend said the steak ‘char’ taste was good. The rest are not bad and it is probably down to personal preference. Price will vary on the type of food you order. View is really nice and the seatings are very comfortable. It’s better to make a reservation so you can get a window seat.

It’s on level 53 of the Banyan Tree hotel in KL. Restaurant open at 6. Initially Restuarant was a bit warm n stuffy n I requested restaurant staff to lower temperature, and they somehow fix it . We ordered variety of appetisers to share , must order includes cassava bread with butter , tuna roll , ceviche with raw fish in a tangy marinate ( they call it Tiger’s milk) was tasty and refreshing . We got sharing rice dishes in a sizzling hot iron cast pan, resembling some form of paella . It’s on the heavy side and personally I found the rice a bit wet. Shout out to, you come here for the amazing view of KL tower n plaza 118.

It was a last minute decision for our family to dine here. Surprisingly, a child friendly restaurant, my 6yo received a colouring kit and a Torito bull stuffed toy by one of the staff. Cameron, our waiter was very attentive to our need. The manager so kindly prepared a kid-friendly noodle (non-spicy) that was not on the menu for my child. And Nia the receptionist entertained my child around the restaurant. The food was tasty, defo get the ceviche for entre and the 16-hr duck confit for one of the mains. Opted to end with dessert with their slow cooked pear with cheese ice cream and it did not disappoint.

This Peruvian-Japanese restaurant offers a dining experience with a stunning view of the KLCC skyline. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful, though slightly over-seasoned with salt. It was served alongside a crispy potato pancake, adding a satisfying texture contrast. The roasted chicken breast was perfectly cooked, offering a tender bite with a subtle hint of spice from its seasoning. The seafood ceviche had a slightly tough texture, but the addition of corn provided a delightful crunch, enhancing the overall dish.

A new gem on the KL culinary scene where the food is as great as the view, where the service is warm, vibes are chilled and Chef Ivo, who patiently waited a year for his pride and joy to be born, shines brightly through with cuisine that bursts with flavour, freshness, passion and love! Started with Chef’s signature Cevice and it was simply delicious with flavours bouncing off the taste buds. Savory, sweet, spicy, texture and freshness all dancing around the palette at the same time to be finished off at the last moment with a touch of spice. The scallops were Devine, the sushi sedap and the tenderloin beef eaten with the marinated boiled and roasted potato simply mouthwatering. Save space for the cream caramel dessert - the vanilla flavour from the Madagascan vanilla is so smooth and concentrated that you will be doing sweet cartwheels of joy. High quality ingredients that are super fresh, made with love and national pride enjoyed with the perhaps the best views in town, make Torito a sure fire winner. Portions are generous and the prices extremely fair given the quality, service and experience - so this restaurant has it all. We only enjoyed a small part of the menu and with Chef Ivo’s extensive menu creations, it will not be long before we return for a continuation of this wonderful culinary journey 🤩🥰 This place is a winner - simply Excellent!!!

My family and I visited Torito and were extremely happy with the service, especially from a waitress named Ezza. She was very attentive, particularly toward my 2-year-old daughter, and kindly gave her a drawing kit and a bull soft toy. We hope to return to the restaurant if we get the chance.

Overall was delicious and surprisingly flavor matching, just not so like the green pea rice, The Torito cocktail tasted quite sour for me. Friendly staff serving, Atmosphere of restaurant just perfect, got music played, and this restaurant is definitely the right place chosen, in front of us “decorate” with the night view of Merdeka101 and Pavillion KL area from level53. Highly recommended.
