Stopped by for dinner and though they didn’t open right at 5 (more like 5:15), the wait was totally worth it. The smoked half chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor, and the sides were just as delicious. Definitely a great stop!

Natty Ruet

Google
I had the ribeye and it was amazing! The mashed potatoes were great too. I’d definitely come back for the delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The only downside was the services —the cashier lady, she didn’t greet us, and we had to ask how the ordering process worked (you order at the counter and seat, pick up food yourself). That aside, the BBQ pork was also fantastic!

Terry Roberts

Google
We had pork spareribs, salmon, baked potato, mashed potatoes, and cornbread, all were seasoned and cooked perfectly! Hours are from 5 PM to 9 PM. Walk up to the counter, place your order, in about 10 minutes they call your number, and you pick your food up at the window. You can carry out, or seat yourself at one of the many picnic tables inside, or out. everything is extremely casual, not fancy at all. Food was great! I highly recommend Torrey Grill & BBQ for a great casual dinner!

Google
A decent meal … I got the half a smoked chicken, baked potato and corn bread. If they told me the cornbread had jalapeños I would’ve opted for the garlic bread. Overall, it was average to slightly better, but not great meal.

Google
Service was really good. Ribs feel off the bone and tasted good. Pablano beans were good, but not spicy. Corn bread didn't have much flavor.

Google
I had pretty high expectations, given this place was rated a 4.7. They had a lot of parking, which was nice. You walk up and order and sit down. The staff was very nice! We got the chicken as well has the ribs. The food came out fast! As for sides we got the baked beans as well as potatoes. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, which is the same problem with the ribs. We may have just came on a bad day, but it was not the best experience. The atmosphere however was top notch!

Google
Convenient stop on the way into town. Small playground for the kids. But the food was pretty meh… Half chicken - looked great, but skin was rubbery and meat was flavorless. Tri-tip was warmed up in some sort of juice, but pretty flavorless. A bit bummed to think that foreigners traveling through might be led to think that this is what American BBQ tastes like. 😔

Trina Zimbelman

Google
When you hear a microwave heating food, it’s never good. Overpriced for microwaved food. Gordon Ramsey, help this place. It could be amazing with some help. Cornbread muffin was the best out of dry rib dinner. I will say the ribs were adequately seasoned, but reheated and dry. Edit: thanks for replying. Hard to return when driving through, and we returned no plates and ate on the road.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. My family of four all gave their food 5 stars. Some might consider it a little pricey but the portions are good and it's a tasty, filling bbq meal. I would say it's worth it. Service was polite and helpful. The setting is covered open air. Cool place!

Yelp
Really solid bbq especially for the area I would say this is probably the best food you can get near Capitol Reef, portion sizes are great, the try tips were to die for and I am honestly A very harsh critic when it comes to food, being from the Chicago the bar is set high and they really killed it!

Shawn C.

Yelp
The ribs were great and the prices. Don't be put off by the fact that it is in an RV park and Jeep rental facility. No beer or wine served they only have soda and bottled water

Yelp
Really nice people! They were super friendly and happy to be there. I went twice while staying at the RV park attached. The food is really fresh and they make everything in house. The owner gave my dog his own plate each night I took my food to go. Very laid back location and plenty of seating. They had a fire going the second night I went which was really nice!

Yelp
Cool ambiance. Nice staff. Food was ok and was not served hot - arrived right upon opening at 5 pm. Sauce selection was poor (Sweet Baby Rays and a horseradish ranch). The only way to add spice in the building was black pepper. But, we were fed.
google avatar

C.J. T.

Yelp
Try the white BBQ sauce with your tri tip! Horseradish flavor, originating in Alabama (as we learned from the chef), was so good! Tri tip and ribs were great, as was the loaded cream corn! Cheddar masked potatoes were good, but not amazing. Unsuspecting to find such solid bbq in Torrey, but a very welcome surprise.

Yelp
After a full day of hiking at Capitol Reef, we just wanted to find any place that was still open so we took a chance. We were lucky with Torrey Grill. Situated in an area that's easily missed at night, we found it and we're not sorry. The menu isn't big which is a good thing for Torrey Grill. Their kitchen is small but they focus strongly on their tiny menu and they do it with pride. We ordered their BBQ ribs, 1/2 chicken, and slabs of beef. Tender, juicy, and generous portions. You order at the window, go find a seat in the eating area, and pick up your food when it's ready. They also give metal utensils which is nice. They serve no alcohol but you can but beer from the gift shop about 100 feet away (they close at 730). Thank you Torrey Grill.

Yelp
Delicious smoked chicken and tender tri tip. Good bbq sauce choices. Beans with poblano and baked potato were good sides. Loved the corn bread. Salad greens were meh ice berg, but had lots of fun veggies on top. Peach pie was yummy. Fast friendly service and reasonable prices. Thank you!

Yelp
The best bbq I've ever had! Their special white bbq sauce topped off the perfectly smoked and tender pork ribs and tri-tip! The mash potatoes and coleslaw were excellent as well. My wife enjoyed their Smoke Chix House Salad. A hidden gem and a must try for any bbq lovers visiting Torrey, UT or needing an amazing meal after hiking at Capital Reef National Park. Restaurant is only open April to October 15th. Thanks for sharing your passion for bbq cuisine, Peter!

Yelp
Torrey Grill & BBQ is such an awesome gem in Torrey, Utah. If you are traveling around Capitol Reef National Park, you must stop in for dinner! We ordered the Smoked Sliced Beef Tri Tip and Dry Rub Smoked Pork Ribs. Both included corn bread and a side, which we chose baked beans and potato salad. Everything was delicious. The meats were tender and well-seasoned and the sides were super tasty. The beans reminded me of true Southern comfort food. As a plus, they have four sauces to try--Class BBQ, Sweet and Spicy BBQ, White BBQ, and Teriyaki sauce. You can try all of them and trust me, they were all tasty! This place will truly make you feel at home, as Chef Peter personally greeted us and chatted with us about our travel plans and about the food. Torrey may be a small town, but you can feel the soulful warmth as the employees greeted all their regular patrons as they came in. We will definitely have dinner here again the next time we travel through Utah. The trip is worth it!

Yelp
The rating is for the setting of the restaurant and the nice people who work there. The bbq was not very good. It's a bit overpriced and dry. But the ambiance was cool, having the scenery out the back door was also impressive. We chatted up the guy who owned it and was really nice. Sadly I wish the food were better.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We had the TriTip and Ribeye with the most delicious sides! This restaurant was recommended to us while being a tourist in Kodachrome. Will pass the recommendation on! Fun atmosphere, nice owner.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
The tables were sturdy, but the bbq was a sample size. A real bbq joint has gobs of napkins at each table with the expectation that each customer will leave messy and satisfied. Neither happened!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Great ribs and meat choices; limited menu options and outdoor seating but well worth abtry

Richard B.

Yelp
Dinner for 3 was $117 (food only). Small portions and we were still hungry when we left. Quality of food was acceptable. Would not expect to pay these prices for a restaurant with gravel stone floor and picnic tables and self order and self pick up of food.
google avatar

Whitney L.

Yelp
- you can get three different sauces and a side! We got the mash potatoes and they were amazing! The plate comes with corn bread and butter honey! If you love bbq! You gotta come here! It was fast and amazing! The staff and vibe are great too!

Barb M.

Yelp
Food was delish! I had the salmon and my spouse had the ribs. We both loved our entrées. Service was friendly. And the restaurant had a homey, rustic feel. Very nice place.
google avatar

Erik M.

Yelp
Had the rib and chicken combo plate and was not disappointed. I did get the small end of the rib rack, but even still the ribs were tender and had great smoke flavor. Great conversation with the chef and the kids enjoyed playing on the swing set, slide and seesaw. Definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

Madison M.

Yelp
Best BBQ around. Pete, the owner recommended my wife get the tri-trip. Melted in my mouth. He was so good to us and even treated us again on our anniversary. If you're in Torrey, it is a trip highlight on your way to Capitol Reef. It's hidden within Thousand Lakes RV Park. Plenty of signs if you know what you're looking for. Bomb.com

Yelp
The Torrey Grill and BBQ is one of those places that would remain a locals favorite without YELP! Set up in a Torrey RV campground, the Torrey Grill and BBQ is the site where Culinary Institute of America trained chef Peter has made his mark. Classically trained at the Hyde Park Cullinary Institute, he has made his mark with some of the West's best bbq! Finding ourselves in Torrey, UT, my wife and I consulted YELP and found our way to the bbq pavilion. Meals are ordered at the window, picked up and eaten under an a pavillion tent at (on busy nights), shared tables. BYOB for anything other than the water and sodas you can order at the window. I had the pork ribs. Dry rubbed and smoked, they were wonderful. My side was a cup of poblano beans. Pinto beans cooked with chunks of poblano chilis- tasty! My wife has allergies, and so Chef Peter grilled her salmon without his house made dry rub- she loved it If you are comong to this area, plan to have donner here...well worth it!

Yelp
We were spending the night in Bicknell and we were looking for a place to eat. After looking at reviews we decided to try Torrey Grill and BBQ. We both ordered the Tri-tip. I had the Poblano baked beans and my husband had the mashed potatoes. Both came with a corn muffin. The service was friendly and fast. The food was amazing. The tri-tip was flavorful and so tender. They have an assortment of sauces but the chef recommended the white BBQ sauce as a compliment for the beef. So good! You won't be disappointed if you stop here. It might just be the best BBQ we've ever had!

L S.

Yelp
The food was tasty, but rather pricy and portions were small. The cuteness factor was 5-stars. The place is in an outdoor tent, think picnic. You order at a little window and they ring a bell when your order is up (again super cute). They hooked us with a tri-tip sample. It was really good.

Yelp
Decided to give it and try and so glad we did! Ambiance is open air and very casual- but it was a beautiful May evening and we sat outside. We had the salmon and the beef and our meals were excellent! This guy knows what he is doing w a smoker/grill!! Meals come w a little Pimento cheese appetizer, a side and corn muffin- that is tasty! Definitely recommend this place for a great meal! As a side note, all they have for drinks are sodas and water bottles so you can stop in the general store and grab something if you want anything else!

Yelp
Amazing BBQ place in Southern Utah! Totally worth making a trip to or through Torrey to try this place. We had tri tip, pork ribs, and chicken and everything was fantastic. Meat was moist and smokey. White sauce was amazing!! The owner and staff are all very nice and friendly. The atmosphere is really cute and quaint tucked away in a nice looking RV Park. If we had more time it would be lovely to stay there, especially for the food. They have a big fire pit where you can roast your own s'mores or get other yummy desserts. Must visit place for good BBQ in Utah.

Yelp
Thought I'd try this place with great reviews. The veggie plate was filling. Appreciated the variety in the plate. Portobello mushrooms, peppers, carrots, cauliflower my favorite veggie wasn't much though. They were grilled to perfection! Also ordered peach cobbler, it was good. Unsure where ice cream from but it was kinda light. I like the small town ambiance of this place.

Yelp
Really enjoyed your BBQ! Enjoyed chatting with chef Peter. Definitely recommend this as one of the best in Torrey

Yelp
We very much enjoyed the dinner we had at Torrey Grill and BBQ. I had the Dinosaur Ribs, which were excellent. I tried three of the sauces and preferred the chili and sweet and spicy sauces. The mashed potato side was delicious. My wife had the Tri-tips and beans, which she really liked. Cobbler for dessert was tasty. The folks who worked there were quite friendly.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I had the smoked tri tip with creamed corn and cornbread. All fabulous. My husband had the half smoked chicken with coleslaw and cornbread. Excellent! Great service. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Hotel recommended and so glad we took a chance! AMAZING and delicious in a weird location (RV park) but nice covered eating area that is dog friendly. Steaks and trip tip done perfectly with good choices of self serve sauces. Side dish choices were terrific (tomato-cucumber salad with balsamic!!) and nice little complimentary appetizer. Bbq Master even stopped us to give our golden a to-go treat of burnt ends. BYOB if you want.

Yelp
This is a MUST! This BBQ place is truly the best! We read the reviews and actually stayed at the campground Thousand Lakes because of it. The atmosphere is great. I love the outdoor feel with amenities of being indoors. It rained so hard while we dined and we stayed dry but had the feel of outdoor dining. The chef is personable, passionate and so friendly. And...he even has tofu! Everything was OUTSTANDING! The meats were tender, perfectly seasoned and nice sizes. The coleslaw tasted like a pina colada...with hints of pineapple and coconut. The mashed potatoes were the best we have ever had! The cornbead and honeybutter was unforgettable! Please do not miss this place. It is only open certain times of the year....so plan your trip accordingly. We cannot wait to go back!

Yelp
I didn't have time to take a picture, I just couldn't help my self and started eating right when I got it. Didn't know what to expect being in an RV park..... man, it's sooooo good. Th set up reminded me a lot of the road side BBQ places I used to frequent when I was in the army in North Carolina. The food here is epic. Sides are good, sauces are good (get the white bbq sauce if you get the beef). It's seriously amazing. I live about an hour away..... I'll be bringing my friends here. It's absolutely fantastic. Bring cash, can't tip on a card.

Kori T.

Yelp
Excellent BBQ: Very Meaty Pork Ribs with great flavor. This place never disappoints. Thanks Chief Peter Cole for great food and personal touch. Always a pleasure.
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Surprised by the great reviews, yeah there's not a lot of options around here, but the food was pretty middle-of-the-road. I got the salmon and it was pretty small and not really anything special. I was still hungry afterwards. Maybe I should've ordered some steak. My buddy got the smoked chicken and he said it was mediocre too. BYOB if you can, it'll save you from wasting $1.25 on a bottle of water or buying a can of soda.
google avatar

Allison F.

Yelp
Really good food, great atmosphere for kids as the playground was right outside! Perfect spot to eat with 7 kids in our party!

Dawn S.

Yelp
Amazing food! The tri tip and dinosaur ribs were smoked to perfection. I am not usually a BBQ fan but enjoyed this as the taste of the meat came through with the smokey flavor. It wasn't over cooked meat drowned in some awful BBQ sauce. If you are in Torrey check it out. All the sides are wonderful too.

Daniel Z.

Yelp
This place is wonderful! The food is delicious and so original! My wife had ribs, two nights in a row, and I had the tofu teriyaki (I'm vegetarian) - both super delicious. We tried every side and they were all very good and original. The chef is super nice, comes out to personally talk to people. The fireplace and music were a nice touch for a great ambiance. It was a wonderful surprise to find this restaurant right here in our campground.

Yelp
Delicious food and fun atmosphere. The folks working the night my group stopped by were attentive and grateful for our business. We had an assortment of side dishes between the 4 of us and none left disappointed with our choice of meat. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Aubree M.

Yelp
Peters food is absolutely amazing. Made fresh and fast! Nothing beats this bbq! And for a very reasonable price! Love the indoor/outdoor seating!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely BBQ place! Seeing as there aren't too many options, we did want a meaty dinner but we didn't want to give our business to our hotel (Capitol Reef Resort), we decided to come check this place out. It is located on an RV site, which I wasn't aware of until I pulled up. The restaurant is located behind the general store. You can BYOB or buy some beers in the store, like we did. The restaurant does sell sodas though. There are plenty of meaty options to choose from but we both went with ribs. They tasted great and the meat fell right off the bone. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted wonderful as well. We were both filled up by our portions. They do also have some desserts for the sweet tooths among us. Oh, and you get a cute little appetizer as well. Pricing was all round reasonable and the staff was very friendly. They also have an adorable indoor fireplace (gas, so don't worry you won't smell) and cute decorations. We even found our native flag (Belgium) proudly hung on a post. Extra points for that ;-)
google avatar

Sadie S.

Yelp
We stayed at the RV park where this is located and the first night we stayed the smell from here was AMAZING! We went on our last night in town. We had Tri Tip, Beans, Ribs, Potatoes , cucumber salad and Creamed Corn. All of it was fantastic and right up there with KC BBQ. The white bbq sauce was amazing with the tri tip. Bring cash for a tip because you can't tip on a card. Well worth trying this out.

Yelp
Traveling in Utah from Pasadena/Los Angeles area we were lucky to find this gem of a location for some delicious barbecue. The food: I ordered the tri tip dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and boy it did not disappoint. The tri tip was tender and juicy and needed little to no sauce at all. All three barbecue sauces were delicious if you wanted some extra flavor. The mashed potatoes had great flavor as well. The meal came with two bread sides, one was a spicy cornbread of sorts with a honey butter (I think that's what I was supposed to pair it with) this also was very tasty. The other bread was more like a fluffy naan or pita bread with a spicy butter, so good! My boyfriend ordered the combo with baked beans which he said was also delicious. Drinks: the mint lime is surprisingly really good. The location was a little random inside of the campground/RV park but it worked. The dining area was nice with a large fire pit and picnic tables to eat your food at. The staff was super friendly and chatted with us before we left and gave us some tips for the rest of our trip which was awesome! Final notes, if you are in the area visiting Capitol Reef NP definitely take the time to stop here and enjoy the food, people and atmosphere! We will be back on our next trip to Utah!

Yelp
You're going to read a lot of good reviews about the great food here, so let's talk about the guy who runs it. Chef Peter is at the top of his game. He's spent his professional life creating flavors and we get to enjoy the results. He succeeds nicely with this restaurant and I hope you'll have the same delicious experience that our family had tonight. We also met a couple there visiting from Belgium who knew good food too. It's well worth a visit.

Janae V.

Yelp
This is a great find! Highly recommend this place! The food is great, the atmosphere is great, and the people are great. I had my puppy with me and the cook was really nice and brought out some meat treats for him. Their sauces are delicious with a little kick. The mushrooms were made to perfection. My boyfriend had the smoked pork ribs. They were fresh and the meat just fell off the bone. I had the teriyaki tofu with portobello mushrooms (which tofu is always a hit or miss) and I say this was a hit.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
What a delightful surprise in Torrey of all places! This is the real deal, courtesy of former Manhattan chef Peter. I could smell the smoker a mile awhile and had to stop! It's in the middle of an RV park, but venture in! The setting is awesome, the service friendly and the food excellent -- all the standards with some flair!
google avatar

Joseph F.

Yelp
Exceeds expectations for sure. Extremely friendly staff and owner, he talked to us for several minutes after the meal and everyone made sure we were well taken care of. Chicken salad entree was delicious and well portioned. Ribs were delicious!! All the sides were great and the home made desserts were so good. Worth every penny and you'll leave STUFFED! If you're in the area for just one night there's no question this is the spot to try.

Marilyn M.

Yelp
The meat was so tender and delicious! We ordered tri tip. So glad this is where we ended up eating. Casual eating place but so clean and friendly. The chef was checking on the guests to make sure everyone was happy. Oh we also ordered dessert which we never do! We chose brownies with ice cream and chocolate topping - Outstanding!
google avatar

Lola S.

Yelp
This is probably one of the best BBQ I've ever tried in the US! We tried the sample platter. Chicken, brisket and pork were delicious. They have three BBQ sauce options that pair perfectly with the meat. But the best part of this place is the sides! We had beets with cucumber and nuts, and orange coleslaw. They were both very refreshing and delicious, perfect for a very hot summer day! Moreover, the chef gave us an appetizer treat that was delicious! It was a sort of flat bread toast with a pepper sauce. It was warm and totally unexpected. Service was fantastic. Both chef and cashier were friendly, attentive and enthusiastic!
google avatar

Kaija N.

Yelp
Incredibly disappointing. I came in expecting something delightful because of the rich, smokey smell and other reviews, but I was mislead. The ribs were so dry, cold and bland it was as if they were a week old. The beans were honestly disgusting. I didn't think you could ruin beans, but they were bitter and sticky. The only redeeming factors were the biscuit and the two slices of veggies they included with the meal.
