My mom and I stopped for lunch and enjoyed a delicious torta insurgentes and alambre insurgentes! Very delicious!

Google
I was looking for something different for lunch and saw this place so on a whim, I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did! Their chicken tinga quesadilla was delicious! The portion size was good for the price, especially considering it was stuffed full of chicken! Garnished with cream, lettuce, and Mozzarella, it was lightly grilled and scrumptious! The employee who helped me was friendly and quick and I was in and out in 10 minutes flat! I'm glad I decided to check this place out, I will definitely be back!!

Google
Best tortas and quesadillas in the DFW! Look at my pics, it looks good right? Thats because it is. Stop searching. This is it!

Google
The food was amazing, the salsas were delicious & as spicy as they come. We're glad we found authentic Mexican food while visiting dallas !!

Shan L.

Google
The tacos are really good. I got the homemade corn tortillas, I wasn't told there's a n extra charge 😒🤔. Lunch tacos are $2.50, a great price until they added the $1.50 without me knowing.

Google
Fantastic food, went there for lunch on the recommendation from my coworker, one of the best tortas I've eaten. Also a nice change of pace having duros instead of tortilla chips. Will return.

First time going, I went with my Husband who goes there regularly for lunch while at work. He highly recommended driving all the way out there for Me to try this place as we live 30 minutes away. To start, very good service at entrance, greeted and attended politely immediately walking through door. We were seated, but here is where the only issue I had became a problem: It took 10 minutes for our server to come by, which would not have been an issue, but we noticed the greeter/possibly also manager (as he was on top of cleanliness and overall maintenance of the restaurant) alert the server we had been sat in her section. The table behind us was sat after us, & she ran over to grab their drink order before even greeting us. In my opinion, in many restaurants, female servers are much more attentive to all male tables as opposed to tables of all women, or couples/mixed groups for tipping purposes. When the server did finally come over, she grabbed our drink & food orders, I ordered a coffee with a water and was advised fresh coffee had to be brewed and would be a while. Not an issue, I assumed at least I would be served my water while I waited. I didn't recieve anything to drink until my coffee finally came out which was really not a huge deal, but coffee with spicy food isn't a tasty mix, for that purpose I wanted a water. The food came out within a timely manner of about 15 minutes, and was absolutely delicious! Everything was plated nicely and tasted great. Unfortunately we like our food spicy and made great use of their tasty salsas, but again our server took an eternity to come back once we started eating, so we were dying of thirst. Once She did come back, She did bring a refill for my Husband but again, no water for Myself. Overall, the food is worth trying, I would go back honestly, I just hope I have a different person tending to my table next time (which according to my receipt was a "Yadira A."). The restaurant is nicely maintained as well.

Hard to park, shared parking with a Walmart. The food was definitely delicious. The service was decent.

Yelp
My breakfast go-to! I visit the NW Highway location regularly by Love Field but their Mesquite location is really great too! I usually go for their Mañanero breakfast which is potatoes with chorizo and eggs, but have to also recommend their Chilaquiles Verdes. I consider the portions to be good as well as the prices. The service is great, the staff is very welcoming and attentive.

Yelp
If you're craving a quesadilla, visit this restaurant!! It's such a solid choice when it comes to Mexican food. If you like pastor, you will LOVE it here. I ordered a pambazo on my recent visit just to try something new and it hit! I tend to gravitate towards the tacos and quesadillas at this spot but I have a new favorite dish. I love coming here and chopping it up with my family. Nothing like bonding over some good Mexican food!

Yelp
My go-to is the paisa alambre with light cheese which consists of beef, nopales & mushrooms. Consistent friendly service & fresh piping hot food. The sauces do have a kick. Yum!

Yelp
Amazing food! The pastor, chorizo, and pollo tacos were mouthwatering The atmosphere of the restaurant itself isn't much to write home about but the food is delicious! Will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area

Yelp
This place specializes, in, well, tortas - which are Mexican sammies. Many varieties are offered here, and from what I can tell, you can't go wrong with anything you choose. I have had a quesadilla here, as well as the Hawaiian Torta, and both were delicious. My colleagues also RAVED RAVED about their tortas, and we all broke out in a sweat as the salsas are FIRE. The red one, feels like literal fire, which is a good thing. For starters, you get chicharrónes, which are a wheat wheel snack. They can be tricky to have salsa with but are still a nice crunchy offering to tide you over until the food comes out. It can be a little loud in here, and the seating can fill up quickly, but for food and service, you won't leave disappointed.

Yelp
Nice place on Jefferson, a street known for Mexican restaurants. How it stands out you're served chicharrones instead of chips. The quesadillas are amazing best pairs with a Mexican Coke.

Yelp
this place is more like 3.5 out of 5 stars. We had some time before our flight from love field, so we wanted to grab something nearby. i messed up. to come to a place with the name "torta" in it and not get a torta is a big mistake. I actually ended up getting a pambazo instead... which was not good. it was too starchy with all the potatoes in it. We also ended up getting a tripa taco and an al pastor quesadilla. These items were a lot better than the pambazo. I rarely get the tripa meat, but this place cooked it very well and i think i'll get it again at another mexican place. for drinks, i wanted a pina agua. and to be honest, it tasted fake. Not sure if it was bottled, but it definitely didn't taste authentic. Didn't have small chunks of pineapples in it... Typically you can find real pina agua at mexican super markets if sell agua from a jug. I don't know if its just me, but all the three sauces they provided were just too spicy. i couldn't enjoy the food with the sauces. The only sauce i liked was the simple tapatio they gave with the free chips in the beginning of the meal.

Yelp
Came here with my service dog randomly because I came to Walmart. They made it a big ordeal and I think they called the owner. They made me show his paperwork and after i showed them his legal service dog paperwork. They still denied me service.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexico City style food in metroplex! Quesadillas are my favorite chicharrón and huitlacoche!

Yelp
It's always nice when I find a restaurant that reminds me of the creative Mexican food in Los Angeles. This place made me so happy because not only was it a totally cool place with a great almost "Diner" feel, but the food was really good. The Torta Cubana and tacos were very good. I recommend the pastor and bistec! Will be back!

Yelp
Love their torta . It was a surprise for me to come here. The ladies picked to come here because I like torta, and this place torta was great.

Yelp
Lunchtime in N Dallas, at one of my fav spots. Ordered 2 quesadillas, one is carne de rez, the other is huitlacoche (darker one) with pollo. And you get the complimentary pin wheels w/ valentina, and choice of hot salsas ... For those wondering, Huitlacoche is a type of fungus that grows on corn in Mexico. Its has a purplish, dark grey color to it when harvested. I tried it for the first time at an open market in Mexico City last year, and it wasn't bad at all. What does it taste like you wonder, to me, it really doesn't have a taste, but if i had to compare it to something, Its just like eating a mushroom. Not too many taco places here in the DFW offer this delicacy, so if you want to be adventurous, and try something totally different, stop by here, and order yourself one. If you do, let me know what you think...

Yelp
I enjoyed the service, it was Sunday and lunch time and it was not packed. The food was great, I was pleasantly surprised with the three different options of Salsa at each table and the place was clean. Will be back when I am in the area.

Yelp
The Service was amazing every server present was accommodating and very nice. The ambiance was cool and colorful. I ordered a chicken Tostada it was amazing!!! I ordered the Cubano and it was absolute the worst thing I've ever eaten. Cheap hot dogs as sausage, rubbery ham. Cold melted cheese? It was so bad I actually started gagging. For 20.00 dollars I expected a better meal. But again the Tostada, servers and ambiance made it a 3 star experience

Yelp
Found this place on a whim on my way to drop off the misses at Dallas Love so I wasn't expecting much. What I ended up finding was a diamond in the rough. I was quite happy with what we had for breakfast. It was just supposed to be a quick and easy meal before a trip but it turned out to be a memorable one instead. The best item from our order was the quesadilla de chicharrón prensado. The quesadilla had all the right balances of meat and cheese wrapped in a very crispy outer shell. Typically, I think of a quesadilla as an appetizer more than an entre but this thing was huge and amazing without a doubt. Complete and utter surprise. We also had the chilaquiles with beef (bistec) and salsa verde with a side of beans. The chilaquiles were cooked quite nicely and the chips were still hard and not soggy. The plate was a delight to eat and I have no complaints. Lastly, we had a taco de lengua just to try out the taco. The taco itself was not bad but it was not the greatest by any means. It was your typical taco. Overall, I had a great experience and this establishment and the staff was attentive and amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely return.

Yelp
This place seems to be known for its alambres. I tried the Alambres Insurgentes, which was tasty. They also have plenty of options for tacos, tortas, and quesadillas. Located near Love Field, the storefront has an indoor eating area and a small outdoor patio area for nice weather. All meals come with chicharrones!

Yelp
Love the food and atmosphere, small place but great service provided every time we have check them out they never disappoint

Yelp
I wish I could give this a 3.5 stars. I had the pastor, bistec, and suadero tacos. My girlfriend had the chicken pambazo. The tacos were good, the only thing that I didn't like were the salsas. The green and red salsa were spicy as hell and without flavor. I also had the chicken tinga soupe that was amazing!!! Definitely try it. My girlfriend's pambazo was flavorless. It was alright at best. The food came out pretty fast. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars was because our waitress was extremely sweet and attentive.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
Food was good and hot. 3 salsas to choose from. Go with corn tacos vs flour tacos. The gorita fell apart fast so eat it with a fork and knife. Tortas are pricey but look big. For the most part, this place is a little over priced but good food and steady flow of people. The pastor had great flavor ...next time I'll try other meats for an extra 1.50

Yelp
Overall: it was something I could eat if I had nothing else to eat, but I wouldn't deliberately eat here over and over again Details: I visited here on a Friday evening after wanting to try it for so long. Why did I want to try it? I'm not sure, given that it shares a parking lot with a Walmart. But anyway, I ordered a La Cubana and a bistec quesadilla. I was told the quesadilla had lettuce and cream, which kind of freaked me out initially because I was unaccustomed to that, and then in upon eating it my freak out was justified, because I personally thought it felt off. The La Cubana was huge huge, and I normally don't fine most food to be huge. It's like a giant sandwich made up of every meat you can imagine. In my opinion, it was an object of quantity rather than quality. I didn't even eat the entirety of my portion of the Cubana. After trying the quesadilla, I didn't like the lettuce there. But I just don't like lettuce in general, so maybe I should have asked for it without it. But even without the lettuce, it would still not have been higher than 3 stars. It was mostly affordable, which that's nice. And I love getting a good value (size) for your dollar. But in my opinion, the food quality could be improved a bit.

Yelp
Bad customer service didn't even get to step one foot in door and lady said read the sign on door no drinks but when u look at sign there r no words just a picture. My wife and I wanted to try this place out for the first time but with the rude employee greeting us at the door like that we won't be back.

Hamilton P.

Yelp
Been coming here for 10+ years. Amazing food and staff. Again AMAZING FOOD. Will always recommend to friends that come into town. Had a table of 10 and they got us in and out in an hr.

Yelp
I'm from Mexico City, and trust me, this food is exactly the way it is over there! I've tried the milanesa torta, the chicharrón quesadilla, huarache, sope, everything tastes awesome! Salsas are the Best!!!
google avatar

Ozz J.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We came in as a party of 6 and were accommodated quickly. The menu has all the classics! We all enjoyed some margaritas while our food made it to the table. The staff was super attentive, cheerful and patient. I would come back here any day of the week.
google avatar

Lily F.

Yelp
Awesome place! I love how this place is so unassuming from the outside but the moment you look at the menu you think to yourself, "Yay! I made a good decision for lunch! I don't suck at life!" And immediately pat yourself on the back. I came here with a friend and for some reason was surprised that it was a sit down restaurant; I thought it would be more of a grab and go seat yourself. The menu is simple: tortas, quesadillas, sopes, gorditas, alambres and tacos mostly. I ordered two tacos al pastor and one suadero (the meat between the belly and the leg of a cow). Each taco I think was about 1.25 to 1.65ish. Very simple but very delcious. My friend's gordita looked pretty tasty too. I loved the chilled salsas they serve with the food. The green one is more creamy, the red is spicer.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Good food. Waiter was very attending and so very expensive for 3 meals and with drinks I think it was $55 after tip so not bad.
google avatar

Catharine P.

Yelp
Walked in and immediately were happy. The food was fresh and spicy. We ordered the Mexicana torta and a chicken quesadilla. They delivered two different types of salsa too, a green one and a red one. The green one was tasted really good and had some avocado in it. The red one was really spicy, but brought good heat to the quesadilla. The servers were awesome and the food was delicious. Good flavor, good prices, and good time.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
Delicious but kind of greasy. This restaurant was recommended to me by one of my co-workers. I had three tacos al pastor, and it was cheap. I only ordered take-out, so I can't comment on the service. The crowd was mostly Mexican, so that's a good sign. I liked them, 4 stars.
google avatar

Marcus M.

Yelp
This place used to be my go to spot for authentic Mexican food until recently. Sometimes the to go orders take upwards of 30 minutes and I've started getting weird cuts of meat. It seems like they just scrape all the burnt fine pieces off the grill and pass it as a taco. I've been grossed out too many times now, I'm pretty sure I found a cyst or something at one point and some weird skin occasionally is found on the steak. Damn shame.
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Honestly, one of the better Mexican food restaurants that I've been to. Everything was very authentic and the food was delicious. The options are a little limited and their menu is pretty small, but everything I've ordered is good. The only reason I don't give it a full five stars is because the food is kinda pricey. The portions are big, so it kinda makes up for the price.
google avatar

Janice J.

Yelp
You know a place is authentic when the waitresses only speak Spanish and the crowd at the restaurant is mainly made up of Mexicans. Got the chicken quesadilla and pork taco (al pastor) and loved both. The quesadilla is definitely different from the ones you would get at Tex Mex restaurants --comes in a thicker corn tortilla that's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also comes with two sauces (the green one is really hot beware!). The pork taco was my favorite part though. The meat was extremely tasty and flavorful and was deceivingly small but filling. Would definitely recommend you come here and experience what real Mexican food tastes like!
google avatar

Ana C.

Yelp
Quick update: this place used to be one of my favorite places for two things. Number one the price everything USED to be so affordable. I used to be able to buy lunch for about $8 or so, now the prices have gone up so much that for you to get a lunch you spend $15 give or take. Second reason was the food, but here lately it has just being meh, the meats are dry it is also not as flavorful as they used to be and my quesadillas just seemed slapped together. I don't know if they change kitchen staff since COVID, but the main reason I stopped eating here is the price change, I can get better food somewhere else for the price they charge.
google avatar

Carlos D.

Yelp
More of a 3.5 Pretty good food. Not as great as what you would find in Mexico City which is the style this place sells. You can find some favorites that are had to find in the US like chicharrón prensado quesadillas, huaraches and tortas ahogadas. I've had all 3. The quesadilla and huarache were good, but the torta was disappointing. HUGE warning...be careful with the green sauce. It tastes great but very hot even for me and I can handle some heat.

Celso R.

Yelp
google avatar

Shem I.

Yelp
I was going to go with tacos or a torta, but decided to branch out. I ordered the alambre. I had never heard of this amazing dish until now, it's now one of my favorites. There was plenty of cheese, the corn tortillas were obviously freshly prepared, the hot sauce selection was wonderful. I'm not sure I should have eaten this Saturday dish before I am to get on a flight the next day...
google avatar

Mary F.

Yelp
Food is amazing!!! AMAZING! But service needs improvement. You walk in and stand awkwardly by the door for a few minutes before you are seated. Once seated it takes a while to have your order taken or even drinks brought out. I'll still be a customer despite the service.
google avatar

Miguel G.

Yelp
This is a very unique, kind of hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They claim to have dishes from DF (mexico city) and although I've never been there i do have to agree that there are several items that you cannot find at a regular taqueria. I came here on a Saturday night and it was absolutely packed. Service was a bit slow which is understandable but the food was good. My only complaint was that the green onions were a bit undercooked but i believe thats how the dish is supposed to be prepared. Next on my list to try is the torta de tamal which i had heard of but believed to be a myth! Bottomline, come here if you want to try some unique items mexico city style :)
google avatar

Judith G.

Yelp
First time in Dallas and I'm so dissatisfied...Very cheap. food quality was horrible. My plate had no meat, but fat.

Juan G.

Yelp
The worst food ever! Do not waste your time with this place. The worst thing that you can have at any food place is warm beer and cold food. This place had both! We let the waitress know that the food was cold and she copped an attitude saying that the food had just come out. Place SUCKS!!!
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
So incredibly filling, flavorful and delicious! The choices of meats are chicken in different spices and flavor, beef and pork. They are generous with the meats in the fishes I have ordered thus far. I love that the bistek on the gorditas are finely chopped and full of spices! The quesadillas are hot and melting with white cheese and your choice of meat. Note: there is a right side entrance where you can order your dishes to go. THIS PLACE IS GOOD!!!
google avatar

Jane Y.

Yelp
I can't believe there's not one review on this place...This place is awesome!!! The address kind of confuses me...it's right down the road from el paisano. I love everything here. My favorite is the huarache that's made from blue dough, topped with any meat of your desire, lettuce, crema and cheese. Also, try the quesadillas and tortas here! *drool* Here's their ad on youtube to get a glimpse of the food~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFaWEFPlq6s

Randy W.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Whenever I need a reminder of Mexico City, this is where I come.
google avatar

Alan R.

Yelp
Being from mexico city this is the closest to the food down there I've found in Dallas. Read the full review in my blog ;-) http://alanroblesmx.blogspot.com/2013/11/torteria-insurgentes.html

Yelp
Service was quick and professional and food like always is amazing took my girlfriend there and she loved it and asked to go again always great

Carol J.

Yelp
This place was delicious and cheap! A large group of us went for lunch. I had the traditional alhambre with corn tortillas. Amazing. The hot sauces are hot, beware! Everyone at my table enjoyed their food as well. The quesadilla is cheap and filling. Another liked his torts. Service was excellent and they had someone sing with a guitar which was nice and not too loud or intrusive.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
Wow. We came here because we miss the authentic tacos and Tortas we used to get in Houston at this shabby food truck. This place is amazing! The meat was very flavorful and not blend and dried out. I totally recommend this place if you want tacos. It hits the spot.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
I came here after my fishing trip and I absolutely loved it. The waitress was very helpful with her recommendations. The restaurant was jam packed with the local Mexicans when we came. I ordered the chicken tinga quesadilla and two street tacos. The quesadilla was amazing. The street tacos were sub-optimal. They weren't of the same quality as the quesadilla. Even though they were great, I was still hungry. The quesadilla was pretty small. I ended up getting the torta insurgentes. The torta was bomb. It was jam packed with everything and it was so tasty. The sauces were actually spicy. I have an above average spicy tolerance and it caught me off guard. I loved it though. I preferred the green one over the red one. I do wish that there was a less spicy choice though. Having an alternative from setting my mouth on fire would be good.

Yelp
Russ and I dined here for lunch today, and sampled the tacos. I had suadero, lengua, and tripa, and he had pork, and all were solid, ordinary tacos. Atmosphere here was loud and festival-like, with loud mex-juke music bouncing off all the hard surfaces that comprise the interior space. Next time I'm in the 'hood by the Walmart there and hungry, I will pop in for more. Not worthy of a special trip, this neighborhood joint should become an institution in the 'hood, with a good formula for what and where it is.
