Tortue Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"An opulent, modern and elegant design, from the lobby to the guestrooms and restaurants. Head to the Brasserie for French cuisine, or JIN GUI for Asian food. In addition, there is a magnificent courtyard, as well as the bars, which are a popular spot for hip after-work parties. Omnipresent throughout is the trademark tortoise (French tortue) in the form of statues, lamps, pictures etc." - Tablet Hotels

An outstanding hotel in the heart of Hamburg, exceeding all expectations. Perfect location within walking distance to major attractions. Our room was exceptionally spacious, bright, and thoughtfully designed. The reception team was friendly, helpful, and highly professional. The sturdy umbrellas provided by the hotel were a thoughtful touch for Hamburg’s rainy and windy weather. We also dined at the hotel’s restaurant, and the quality, presentation, and service were simply top-notch. If I return to Hamburg, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you to the entire team for their warm hospitality.

Great Location Fabulous History Liked · A fabulous location and a characterful hotel with great rooms and lots of history. Comfortable beds, great bathrooms and nice bathroom products. Disliked · There was a vibe we all picked up on due the clientele which made it feel a bit like a hotel where folk bring their mistresses or a hangout for those who want to be seen. The restaurant price/quality ratio was off. Prices were equivalent to Michelan star restaurants in London but not to the same standard. They forgot to bring my desert but wanted to tell me a story about my whiskey.

This is a five star city hotel that meets the test of a five star city hotel. Rooms were clean, quiet, well appointed. ||The breakfast was very good indeed and if you are into these things the bar downstairs was frightfully cool.||It was not a place I want to come back to (the weather was ordinary) but if you have to stay in Hamburg for work there is nothing wrong with place.

By far one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at and keep staying at. Exquisite luxury, the service is impeccable, the quality of the hotel and amenities is excellent. The team at the reception, extremely kind and respectful every time, the brasserie a 10/10. See you soon!

3 nights, 2 rooms. ||I booked this place based purely on the reviews, but we both found it impossible to find any love for it. This may be because I cannot take any hotel seriously that has the brass neck to charge €39 for pre-booked breakfast, or if taken on the day, €55! "It's a very good breakfast" said the reception guy as he was trying to pressurise me to take it. It would have to absolutely amazing to warrant €55, but the breakfast room was packed in the morning, so they have enough mugs/expense accounts to take up their offer. We walked 5 minutes and got a great breakfast for 1/3rd of this price.||The standard doubles were OK - nothing wow. Tasteful and large enough, though the sofa faced in the opposite direction to the TV. No thoughtful touches whatsoever. Free minibar, but only soft drink. Tea bags, but nothing to boil water with. Nespresso machine but no milk, so it's black or nothing. So easy to put a little container of fresh milk in the fridge. No iron or board - something that's standard in every £60 Premier Inn room in the UK. No nibbles of any kind. 5 coat hangers in a double room. All pathetic at this price and level.||Worst of all - the room was stinking hot the whole time. It wasn't a heatwave - max about 18-19deg outside, but even with the temp control on full "cool" it was still too warm in the room. This is because they don't have aircon, but "air movement" - something with which I've had problems before in Germany. They're trying to be green, but it's a waste of electricity, as it has zero affect on room temperatures. I left the window open during the day, but on return each eve, the cleaner had shut the window leaving a too-warm room to try and sleep in. In a heatwave, this place must be more "Torture" than "Tortue".||They have a small cigar bar (Germany still, incredibly, allows smoking in bars. I say this as a smoker.) which vents into the courtyard. My partner's room smelled strongly of stale smoke, having left the window open for the same reason as I.||The location wasn't near anything we needed, so overall this was a very poor choice on my behalf. The hotel patently has a very high opinion of itself, and one which is not justified. Hamburg was great, but I would give the Hotel Tortue a wide berth in future,

Favourite hotel in Hamburg! Having stayed in this hotel more than 5 times, I can truly say, that this is the BEST hotel in Hamburg. Love the decor, the spacious rooms, the ambiance, the food (breakfast is amazing) and the service is also really good. Very centrally located. The local Tortue Christmas market in the courtyard in December is a must! Coming back again soon.

Yelp
The hotel is great but the restaurant is a bit of a joke. Don't be taken in by the interesting menu and ambience. The food isn't good and the service is sweet, but lame. Sardine Starter- a can of sardines with bread. Waldorf Salad- some coleslaw and frozen shrimp. Atlantic Sole- oh my god, they ruined it. Maybe it was frozen to begin with, but whatever it took, they made it taste like rubber. I had to return it and the chef was comically indignant- as if he were a great (or even good) chef. An amusing night...
