Staff is friendly and helpful. For example, my son fell ill (throat infection) and they had a doctor at my door in less than 10 minutes.||||I loved how the hotel was carved out of the mountain and was completely eco-friendly. The surroundings, lush and simple, were absolutely gorgeous. What a diversity of plants! I loved every day, every hour here. It was really like an rainforest oasis.||||I also liked how my 7-year old son could safely run from our hotel room, to the dining room, to the pool, to the coop office to play with other kids with little supervision.||||It is a very special, unique place.||||I also like how my payments are going to a Nahuatl small-farmer cooperative, not a rich hotel owner.||||Do note that this hotel is precisely that-- an eco-hotel, and not a luxury chain hotel. The staff speaks Spanish and Nahuatl, not English, the walls are a bit thin between the rooms, and there are mosquitos a night (make sure you put on insect repellant each day). Those who love nature (especially the mountains and appreciate the local culture will find that these small inconveniences are well worth the benefits.

This place pleases everyone by giving the option of hotel, hostel and cabins. It is in a 15 minutes distance walk from Cuetzalan's main place. I do recommend this place as the products they have in there are natural and they work with sustainable material. They are a local organisation and produce their own material, e.g. the wood to build the cabins, shampoo, soap, food (honey, cafe, etc). It is easy to reach by walking or means of transport (public or private). Nice relatively small pool, but very enjoyable and lovely views from it. |If you want they give you a free tour around their hotel, cabins, and field, to explain to you how they work, their reciclying process and production of their stuff. I was amazed they also have as in extention of their terrain a school where they teach in the indigenous language of the area. IT is an interesting place to go. |Lovely breakfast included and massage and temazcal can be also part of your experience!

I stayed at the hostel and hotel and I can just recommend it. It's a 15-20 minute walk from downtown. The prices are fair, given that this is not your regular hotel but something else. It is a cooperative owned and run by maseualmej, one of the indigenous peoples in the region. All proceedings support more of their work that includes a wide range of projects such as sustainable household, health, education, environmental awareness, fair trade organic production and women and youth participation in the region. The pool is small but nice and there is a spa with certified masseuses. The food is just delicious, you have to ask for Tlayoyos and Cecina. They also produce organic honey (melipona bee, an endogenous species) and make some cosmetic products, such as shampoo and moisturizers that work wonders. You can ask for a "tour interno" and they show all the eco-techniques they implement at the hotel (natural water filters, fertilizers, compost, bamboo construction, rain collecting system, solar panels, organic garden, intercultural school, capacity building center) and you will be amazed. If you are more adventurous ask for the tours outside with the guides and visit the small producers: Visits to rivers and natural pools, visit to archeological site Yohualichan, "Ruta de la canela", "Ruta del Café", "Ruta de la miel", "Ruta de la pimienta" etc. It is incredible how much they do in terms of sustainability and food security, and you will be able to see it directly with the small farmers and producers at their homes. The downside is that they don't speak much English (Remember that they are already bilingual since they speak nahuatl as mother tongue and learned spanish at school, so please be comprehensive on that matter), but they are very kind, patient and helpful on whatever you need. |As it is an eco-hotel, it may lack of some of the comfort of luxury hotels (which actually do not exist in Cuetzalan). Be prepared for mosquito bites, a small flashlight would be useful (the pathways have some lights, but since it is solar panels, it might not be enough for you), water shoes or sandals with a good grip for slippery rocks, raincoat, and also eco-friendly sunscreen. Cuetzalan is a "pueblo mágico" and it deserves the name!!!||||

The hotel concept is to connect with nature. Is run by a local community. The rooms have all the necessary commodities (power and water), and by choice doesn't have TV, AC or WiFi. Is a good option is what you are looking for is to disconnect from the world. Make sure you have a good pair of sneakers since when it rains the road can be a bit slippery.

We just slept one night in this eco hotel. This area is usually target of Mexican tourists' so you will find less tourists from abroad. The breakfast is regular from the local kitchen. The swimming pool is nice and cold - I think it is directly from some spring or river (it can be a little bit cleaner also). The staff is kindly. If you know Spanish it just can help you.

Our 3 bedroom "cabaña" is designed with a lot of taste and intelligence, bamboo is used for furniture, doors, a spacious space, peaceful, full of god taste. ||Nice swimming pool, beautiful spa, wonderful landscape, very nice restaurants for breakfast and lunch. ||Tosepan is a cooperative project, different axis of development: ecological construction, coffee production, beauty products... a wonderful project to see!

Rooms have poor maintenance. Windows won't open. Looks old. They could do a lot better. There is trash in some of the walkways between the cabins. At the spa the Massage is terrible. Expensive for what it is. Cuetzalan and Surroundings are really worth visiting

The staff is very friendly and their traditional clothing as well as the fact that all of them are native Náhuatl speaker are completing the experience of being in the Selva Norte de Puebla. The design of both, the hotel as well as the hostel, are simple, but authentic. The breakfast is changing every day. There is always just one option, but at least the ingredients are all locally produced. The chickens that lay your breakfast eggs are even running around on the terrace happily. The dishes are vegetarian, but I guess it will be hard to find a vegan option. The pool is spacious, but could be a little cleaner. The bed I had was a little uncomfortable and squeaky, but everything else was completely satisfactory. I wanna go back to try their Spa!
