Toss Noodle was recommended to me by a friend. I personally had the beef pad see ew and my friend had the tong yum vermicelli. The pad see ew was too watery, and noodles weren't very good. You order at the front. Interesting seating options inside. Street parking only.

I don’t always visit Berkeley, but when I do, I make sure to stop by Toss Noodles.!This place is so good! The location has a really chill vibe for anyone, whether you’re eating by yourself or with someone. 10/10 recommend this place, will visit again when I get a chance to travel to Berkeley.

Google
I love Toss. Their house garlic noodles with Malay sauce is a must. I get it with tofu and my friend and I share it every time. Portions are huge, perfect for sharing. Their Thai tea is great too, just the right amount of sweetness. I like their raised platform and little tables too, it’s a fun seating area. The service is quick and nice. However, the atmosphere leaves a little something to be desired. The smell particularly. I’m not sure if they can help it, but the smell of the bathroom is strong, and overall is unpleasant. I love toss and come about every other week.

Google
First time coming here! Ordered the Hot Thai Sauce Hokkien - Combination. One of the best Asian noodles in the Bay Area I might say.

Caitlynn Kelley

Google
I dream of the peanut sauce! That is my whole review. I just love the malay sauce so much. It's a nice mixture of sweet and salty. The staff are lovely! The place is cute small place! I brought a friend here along with my mom, and we both absolutely loved it! I can't wait to come again once I have more money!

Google
Been here before but way back about 5 years ago but the taste is still here. Tried their build your own noodle bowl and it was delicious. The girl who was helping us was super helpful, friendly, and informative. Knowing well she saw us confused and needed some guidance on the menu. Not very spacious place but it wasn’t busy when I visited so there was plenty of seating! Food came out quick and portion was bigger than anticipated. Worth coming if you’re starving for some hot soup on a cold Berkeley day.

Google
Aptly named! This is a great place to customize Asian food to your liking! They have great options. We tried the wok tossed white fried rice with tofu in Thai spicy sauce. It tasted yum! Was super hot, the ingredients tasted fresh, the veggies still had a nice bite/crunch to them.. the tofu was soft and seasoned well. The portion size was great too! Amazing place for a quick and hearty meal.

Google
Delicious and fast food! They served our group of 8 so quickly, adjusted for allergies, and helped us out with to go containers as we had to adjust to a last minute flight change at the airport. Extremely kind and friendly staff!

Yelp
When you come to Berkeley, there's always good cultural places to eat. Toss was a great find close to Berkeley HS after a tournament. Interior has a cool urban vibe as college towns have. The establishment was clean and inviting. I'd hang here if I were a student. Service was delightful. Food arrived quickly. I love the concept. - pick a noodle (or base) - pick a sauce (wok-toss, soup, or curry) - pick a protein You can probably come here and try hundreds of combinations and can't go wrong. We ordered: - flat rice, laksa with combination protein - wheat, Malay with pork - spicy Thai chicken basil with flat rice Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful! If you're in the area, be sure to give Toss a try!

Yelp
We visited this spot before going to a play at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre (which I highly recommend, by the way!). It made for a lovely date night. We arrived around 6 PM on a Friday, and we just managed to beat the rush. Shortly after we ordered and sat down, a line formed that stretched nearly the entire length of the restaurant. Our food was served almost immediately. There's a self-serve station where we grabbed our own utensils, napkins, and water. I also used the restroom, which was fairly clean. Although there was a sign saying "No restroom use," they kindly let me in as a customer, which was appreciated. As for the food, I really enjoyed the classic edamame--it was lightly salted and simple, a solid choice. I ordered the garlic noodles with tofu as my protein. The noodles were flavorful with garlic, butter, and cheese, but I felt the tofu could have been better if it had been baked or fried; it tasted a bit plain in its current form. My partner ordered a different noodle dish (I forget the name), but it had chicken and more vegetables, making it feel a bit more balanced. I'd probably go for that one next time. Overall, this place is a convenient spot, especially for college students looking for a hearty, calorie-dense meal. The food might not be the healthiest, but it's definitely comforting and satisfying--perfect before or after a night out.

Yelp
This is a great noodle spot in Berkeley. The service is always extremely fast, and the workers are very kind. They have a diverse menu with a lot of options, and are able to do many substitutions. There are a lot of students that come here, it is a nice atmosphere to sit down and have a meal. There is also a decent amount of indoor seating available. My favorite is the Pad Se Ew noodles. Super good! I also got the Thai tea, which is not super sweet so I think a lot of people would like it. Just keep in mind, they do charge a fee for to go bags and boxes. Definitely will be back!

Judith L.

Yelp
Food was served quickly after ordering. I ordered Thai wheat noodles with chicken. (Can't go wrong with any combination!) I love the Thai iced tea from here! It's definitely a cozy spot.

Yelp
We come here about once a year and it's always a pretty solid experience. They have a build-your-own style menu where you can pick your noodle, sauce style, and protein. I always prefer the hokkien noodles which are on the thicker side, and they go well with the thai/malay sauce combo. It was my first time getting some items off the side menu, the highlight of which was the vegetarian dumplings. The pineapple fried rice was just okay, and the eggplant was a little disappointing given the quantity. The food came out quickly, although they do start to clean up right at the closing time.

Yelp
I honestly think Toss has the best Thai food in Berkeley. I've had both the pad thai and pad see ew and Toss is always consistent and never disappoints! The takeout is also just as delicious as dining in. We came late at night on a Sunday and I had the pad thai. The sauce was savory and plentiful, complimenting the noodles well. I like their interior and there is always ample seating and no wait time when I'm here. Will be coming back!

Yelp
I've been looking for a good place to get Laksa in the bay area ever since I got back from visiting Malaysia and Singapore. So far this is the best one I have found, the broth and noodles are on point. The only downside is that it has a lot of stir fry type vegetables in there, if they offered Laksa with bean sprouts and/or boiled egg it would be even better. Pretty casual place, order at the counter, they give you a number and bring the food to you.

Yelp
My daughter and I ate dinner here before a concert at the nearby Cornerstone venue. We got the edamame - wish we would have gotten the garlic one though; it was ok. My daughter got the hokkien noodles, in soy sauce with chicken - she gave it a 4/5 because she wasn't a fan of some of the veggies in there (namely asparagus). I got the hokkien noodles in peanut sauce w/ shrimp. It was really good! Service was relatively quick - you order at the counter, get a number and have a seat, they bring the food to your table. You do have to get your own napkins and water if you'd like them. Ambiance was nice, not too crowded and diff options for seating (high tops and bench/tables). Will definitely go back!

Hailey R.

Yelp
Some of the best noodles I've ever had. I'm out of town and came here randomly and it did not disappoint
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Good place for noodles with super fast service. You seat yourself and bus your own table. We got: - kabocha croquette: deliciously crispy on the outside, sweet on the inside. - thick rice noodles with Thai flavor and beef - glass noodles with laksa soup and beef For both entrees, the noodles and flavors were pretty darn good. Perfect chewiness and thickness. The veggies however were a bit too hard for my liking. The beef was also kinda questionable in color. One thing I will say though, they charge 25 cents for a togo box. That's pretty ridiculous to me. It's a self service place, I bought food and tipped you, and you're tryna profit off of togo containers??? It's simply a bad principle!! Other than that, decent place haha

Yelp
Toss is a reliable, casual noodle restaurant that is one of my go tos in the Berkeley area! You order first and then sit down. The food comes out super quickly after ordering too. I came here with my parents on a Saturday night and we were able to find seating and didn't have to wait very long before ordering. I got the garlic noodles under the chef's special and really enjoyed it! You can add protein to any of the chef's special items. My parents enjoyed their Hokkien noodles too. My mom noted the Thai sauce was delicious but on the spicy side. Thank you Toss!
google avatar

Esther M.

Yelp
Second time I've been here it's pretty good for the price. It's a dollar or two to add protein but the noodles are completely customizable. You can mix and match and even the sauces you can go half half on. I do the Japanese and half of the spicy one I can't remember which it's called. The portion is a good size for the price. After you order at the front you seat yourself and can grab utensils and water. They keep the space pretty clean.
google avatar

Loella D.

Yelp
The hokkien noodles are amazingggg! I always get the cashew nut stir fry with the thai tea. Portion sizes are pretty good, but services sometimes takes a bit long. Food is very flavorful though, I love Toss!
google avatar

Nismah I.

Yelp
As a berkeley student, toss is a staple to the area. They really serve up some quality noodle dishes which often leave you with leftovers from the generous portions. Although my choice is basic, I do love their garlic noodles with either shrimp or beef, you can't go wrong. Ambiance on game days are the most special but either way, toss is a great place to go to food a quick and easy meal.
google avatar

Kezia S.

Yelp
This was really good! I def wanna come back and try different combinations! Portions are really big and you'll def have leftovers Most of us liked what we got except for a friend who got curry noodles so maybe it's just a problem with the curry? Or just personal taste ‍ You also have to pay for to go bags or boxes which is a bit ehhh but still would be back :)
google avatar

Amelia S.

Yelp
Great glass noodles with thai sauce! totally recommend! very cute vibe and the bathroom does not need a code. A little bit cold inside and there aren't any pictures to show what the food looks like. But the workers were nice!
google avatar

Cynthia D.

Yelp
Made my own bowl: hokkien, Japanese sauce, with chicken! Veggies and everything mixed very well with the noodles and chicken Plenty of seats and tables for people to dine in and eat there 4/5 because my noodles were just a little under al dente so there was more of a chew to it that was tough Overall, will go back soon

Yelp
Elite. I can't believe it took me this long to write this review, I've been coming here forever and the consistency of how yummy it is - is so good every time! Definitely a consistent spot for us. I typically get the flat noodles, Thai combo. The tofu is always my favorite part - and the serving size for dine in is always more than enough! Appetizers we also enjoy are edamame and prawn chips. It's always poppin whenever we come here - our favorite seat is the elevated seating in the corner. Food always comes out quick, no issues, and good service. It's a small spot but definitely home-y. Ps- they charge extra for takeout containers!
google avatar

Elisa K.

Yelp
This is a Berkeley staple! I typically create my own wok-toss noodle. My go-to is Hokkien noodles with Thai sauce, but I've tried about everything here and it never disappoints. My second favorite noodle are the Flat Rice Noodles, and my second favorite sauce would be Malay. But again, everything here is amazing. This place can get crowded but there's usually a seat if you want to eat there. Service is pretty fast, food will usually come within 10 minutes.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the Hokkien noodle, Thai sauce, with chicken & it was delicious. First time here and I 100% recommend, service & ambiance was great!

Yelp
Craving noodles and looking for somewhere near campus to grab dinner with a large group, we decided to try Toss Noodle Bar. Toss is a create-your-own noodle bowl concept where you choose from different types of noodles (e.g., wheat, rice, glass, spinach), toppings (e.g., stir fry, curry), and proteins. It was my first time there, and the server patiently explained how to order and provided her recommendations. I selected the red curry over thin rice noodles and topped with fried tofu. The portions are generous and the food is delivered quickly. The red curry was creamy and flavorful, and it came with plenty of vegetables including carrots and bamboo shoots. The tofu was soft and absorbed the curry sauce well. The only challenge was eating the noodles with the curry soup, as they were slippery and prone to splashing. The restaurant is a self-seating and bust-your-own table situation, and they were able to accommodate our large group. We decided that Toss Noodle Bar is a new favorite, so we'll be back soon!

Yelp
I wanna give 10 STARZ!!! I LOVE this place, food is ALWAYS yummy. I order my usual hokkien noddles, (btw is the really thick noodles) medium Thai spice & chicken w/veggies. PERFECTION every time! During the weekdays, is when I like to go! Quiet if you enjoy peace while eating. The weekends here are packed AF. If you are looking for good noodles come here you will NOT be disappointed!
google avatar

Anjali T.

Yelp
Quick service, yummy food, good price! Toss is a go-to spot for a warm, filling meal where you'll always leave with leftovers! They have a variety of sauces and noodles to choose from. They also keep knots of the noodles near the cashier to help customers decide what they like, which was a nice touch. The hokkien (thick egg noodle) with malay (peanut) sauce and tofu is flavorful and creamy. The flat rice noodles with japanese (sweet & spicy) sauce and tofu was also fantastic. Only complaint is that the to-go boxes cost 25c extra.

Yelp
Haven't come here in so long, and I think if I came here more frequently, it would become an addiction. This place is so convenient, filling, and so yummy. I love how you can customize everything down to the noodle, type of protein, and flavor. They have a little case showing off what the different types of noodles are. My favorites are Hokkien and Spinach. The texture of the noodles are bouncy and they're perfectly chewy. It took a while to decide what sauce I wanted, and the person taking my order was so patient and understanding. I haven't tried all the sauces, but my personal favorite (so far) is the Thai sauce. It's a little spicy and has a nice kick. Apparently, you can combine sauces, but it's an extra $1. Each order comes with stir fried veggies and egg along with the noodles and protein. So amazing! This place is my new fixation.

Yelp
I really don't look back at my Berkeley undergrad years with much nostalgic longing, especially when it comes to the indiscriminate way I used to eat. I was under the misconception that calories bounced off of me. Now they stick to me like dandruff on a UNIQLO sweater. This is my roundabout way of saying this is the kind of place I probably would've frequented as a budget conscious student. After all, who could argue with noodles tossed in a wok for lunch? That would explain the abundance of wrinkle-free faces among the diners in here. Everyone goes through a three-step order process. I chose my base of Hokkein noodles, the spicy Thai sauce as my flavor component, and pork for my protein. With the veggies added as a bonus, the $14 result wasn't half-bad (photo: https://bit.ly/3rik3A0). For some irrational reason, I didn't think that would be enough, so I ordered the $7 Veggie Steamed Dumplings which were decent enough in a defrosted Costco kind of way (photo: https://bit.ly/3rqJjEq). Six of them was probably overkill, but hey, I can relive my college years. That doesn't make me delusional, does it? Anyway, if they offered a salad option as a base, I'd probably consider returning. Otherwise the young ones can have it. FOOD - 3 stars...no-frills, wok-fried carbs with flavors AMBIANCE - 3 stars...pretty standard spot dining-wise SERVICE - 3 stars...all through the window TOTAL - 3 stars...part of the student diet, I guess RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2CbVh8u

Yelp
I will keep coming back to Toss Noodle Bar whenever I am in Berkeley! I love any type of build your own bowl place, and this place does not disappoint. So many different choices of noodles, protein, and sauces and generous portion sizes with a lot of veggies. My favorite flavor is to combine the Chinese and Thai sauces. Small, nice interior with some seating for dine in, but the food is also good for take out. Friendly service and the food comes out pretty quickly. I wish they had other locations as well!
google avatar

Lori I.

Yelp
LOVE this DIY noodle "bar". You order/pay at the register. Choose your noodle type, protein, and type of sauce or soup you'd like. Nothing fancy here. They bring your order to your table. Water is self service. There are a handful of tables you can dine in and eat your food, including some cool stadium seating with high top tables so you can look over everyone else eating. I had the clear glass noodles, with laksa soup broth and all the protein, it was excellent! There are many options for gluten free eaters here. This is quick comfort food for when you are seeking noodles, and great with a group since everyone can get what they want. The flavors are good but not as good as if you went to a place that specializes in whatever that dish is (ie for Thai noodles, go to a Thai food place, if you want Singapore laksa, go to a Singapore restaurant). As long as you check your expectations, this place is perfect.

Yelp
Toss was the spot for my classmates when I went to high school in the area. I can totally understand why it's still popular to this day with its ideal location for Cal students, ability to customize, fast service, and affordability. My companion suggested we come here for dinner. Though I'm familiar with this restaurant, it was my first time eating the food. You can order inside, online for pick-up, or have your food delivered. For the wok-toss, you have the opportunity to choose one of their six noodle variety, your type of sauce (you can combine sauces), and your protein of choice. They also have curries, rice dishes, soups, and their own specialties. I opted for the Wheat Noodles, Thai and Malay Sauce, and Tofu. The wheat noodles were skinny and firmer. The Thai sauce was spicy to me and the Malay provided a nutty texture. The tofu wasn't anything special but I appreciated the savoriness of my dish. My companion got the Spinach Noodles, Thai and Chinese Sauce, and Shrimp which he enjoyed. The portion size is big and I took the rest home. The workers are friendly and do a great job tossing your food together. It comes out super fast. The ambiance is lowkey with a younger demographic and plenty of open seating is found around. I recommend coming here if you're in the area and craving noodles since portions are big and service is quick. You can find Toss Noodle Bar on Shattuck Ave. with metered parking nearby. I wouldn't mind coming again with friends if I'm in the area.

Yelp
food was not flavorful nor authentic. good service and location but the taste needs to be more salty, spicy, etc.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're not sure what you're looking for, but it's getting late and you haven't decided what to eat for dinner. To be honest, the only reason we ended up here was because they were one of the few places open late and they had noodles. I'm glad we did - and happy to add this place to my downtown Berkeley list. BB
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and really quick! I love noodles so I had to try this noodle bar in Berkeley. It was delicious and packed with flavor. For those with allergies, it's easy to avoid any kind of nuts and seafood (fish sauce or shellfish) since you can pick and choose toppings. The image attached doesn't do it justice
google avatar

Yelp
like one of the yelp reviewers wrote... why did i take so long to try this place?!!! thankfully, i had the pleasure of trying today and it exceeded all expectations. super delicious with really great proportions (my friend and i both had at least another meal from our respective bowls). we did family style and my friend got the glass noodles with laksa + shrimp and i did the hokkien noodles with thai + combo meat (based off recs from the server). both were super rich in flavor and the vegetables complemented the food perfectly!! service was also nice and the decor here is very homey and cutesy :) will definitely be coming back!!

Yelp
Recommended by my friend whose a Berkeley local. I liked how I could diy my noodle bowl and try different options. I got laksa with the spicy Thai sauce and it has a good heat and big portion! Service was super quick and seating/vibes was nice. Only caveats are that you have to pay for to go containers that don't hold soup well and the tofu was not seasoned.

Eliana L.

Yelp
Delish. I wish they had pictures of the diffrent noodles but the food was very good. The service was very good. However kinda weird you had to pay for a to-go box.
google avatar

Alexa A.

Yelp
Super delicious hokkien style noodles! Great service, super friendly, and the food is consistently good :) highly recommend if you get the chance. Definitely get the Malay sauce mixed with peanut sauce!

Tricia T.

Yelp
No lines, quick service and the food was delicious. The hokkien noodles with the Thai sauce was the best. It was a quick and easy meal but very filling. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Just came here today with our friends and our 5 year olds. We had gone for a 3.5 hr hike and kids were hungry. This place is quick and reasonable. It seems to be a hit with college kids in Berkeley. Service is fast and portions are big! We tried shrimp Chinese, Thai and Japanese hokkein noodles and our friends had the Malay tofu! In my opinion there was flavor and freshness in dishes but not my cup of tea. Bit overly sweet and had this sweet aftertaste in my mouth. Definitely not authentic dishes. It's a great quick bite stop on a budget. Kids liked it.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their noodle Great place, good prices, good service! I go there whenever I visit Berkeley and Toss never disappoint

Yelp
2023/05/06 18:00 Toss Noodle Bar noodles with lots of customization but the taste is mediocre Hokkien noodles with Red Curry and Chicken ($14.00): - noodles served separately from the curry - curry wasn't very spicy, flavor was fairly mild - came with a good amount of chicken, bamboo sprouts, carrots, broccoli, and bell peppers - Hokkien noodles were basically udon: thick, bouncy, very soft and not much of a chew Kabocha Croquette ($8.00): fried battered mashed kabocha squash with katsu sauce on top - was cold on the inside - katsu sauce was too sweet and overpowered the kabocha

Yelp
Fantastic in every way super tasty and we always love going. Nothing bad to report .........

Carrie C.

Yelp
Our food came out at such an ungodly speed that I doubted for a sec that there were actual people cooking it until I saw the videos on the TV. Wow! I've never gotten my food that fast in my life. The noodle dish itself was just average, but you're paying for speed and generous portion sizes
google avatar

Mariah S.

Yelp
Lots of seating inside, you order at the counter and they give you a number and you pick a place to sit. There's self serve water, napkins, a few sauces. The food comes out pretty quickly and it was all really good. Lots of flavor and seasoning. You also buss your own dishes once you're done eating. Lots of college kids eat here too!
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
The food here was so delicious and came out hot. I was so excited to eat after traveling all day. The lemonade was also so sweet and tangy! Water is available which was very needed with the spice that came with the pad Thai. The staff was quick and nice to break down any questions I had. The restaurant had a lot of space and the seating was unique.
google avatar

Elaine C.

Yelp
My friend introduced me to this place and I can't help but keep coming back! It's pretty standard Asian fusion but so delicious and filling no matter which combo you decide on. I've tried both the Thai and Japanese sauces so far, and neither have disappointed. Each bowl comes with your choice of noodles in the sauce you pick, with sautéed vegetables and your choice of protein. They have generous portion sizes for pretty reasonable prices (~$15 meal). Once, I went at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon. It was basically empty, and they were playing Fearless era Taylor Swift songs. I swear I had a dopamine rush when the worker who took my order placed a bowl of steaming noodles in front of me literally 3 minutes after I ordered. Then I absolutely devoured the entire bowl. The tables and floors are cleaned regularly, and I'm always super satisfied by the customer service. 5 stars :) love toss !
google avatar

Vanessa V.

Yelp
I love this place! Always stop by here whenever visiting Berkely, and it never disappoints! I've tried the noodles here as well as the curry and they are both equally delicious! The inside is nice and cute, but a little small. The prices are great and the service is always welcoming.
google avatar

Adrienne H.

Yelp
Wow! Im so amazed. This place is really cute. The service is great here. I tried the Hokkien Thai Noodles vegetable which was good but next time I would change the noodles. I also tried the Hokkien thai rice with chicken to die for omg the flavor was so good.

Yelp
This restaurant is located about a block away from downtown Berkeley BART station. The restaurant was pretty lively with college students when we went on a Thursday night. It was my first time and I ordered the green curry with pork and wheat noodles. My boyfriend got the hokkien noodles with Malay sauce and combo meats. We shared a Thai basil chicken with rice. I will rate each item, but overall the food was quite average and would hit the spot if you're craving noodles. Green curry with pork and wheat noodles 5/10: the curry was lacking a lot of flavor and depth. It just tasted sweet with some coconut flavor, but it was quite bland. They were very generous with the pork and the variety of veges. I wouldn't recommend getting their curry. Hokkien noodles with Malay sauce and combo meats 7.3/10: their Malay sauce was pretty good. Not as peanuty as i'd imagine and tasted very Chinese style. If it was less sweet, it would be perfect. The noodles are nice and thick like flour udon. I would def recommend getting stir fry noodles here. Thai basil chicken with rice 7.5/10: when I ordered this, I don't know why but I was expecting fried chicken so I was very surprised when the dish came out. It tasted really good. The basil was very fragrant and nice. I would recommend this. You can choose to pair it with noodles too if you don't want rice.

Yelp
Best noodle shop in Downtown Berkeley! This is a simple menu with unlimited possibilities! The food is prepared fresh and with lightening speed. It's the perfect meal for high schoolers, college students, and families with kids!! DELICIOUS!

Yelp
I wish they had a spot in SJ we'd be regulars! Loved the flavors, the customization, the ambiance, the attention to the environment, and the vibe. If ever in the area we'll visit again. Service is cashier order so not much of service.. you clean your own table etc. Friendly just the same. The food was delicious and so were the flavors for the 4 star review mainly based on that. Parking is a nightmare you may have to circle or side street and walk there but worth it!
