Tostévere

We loved Tostévere so much when we tried it, we went back the following night! Despite reservations being filled up, we were able to sit at the bar. The tostadas are all unique and delicious but the roasted vegetable plate was divine! The fig/balsamic ice cream dessert was also amazing. Of all the places in SMA that we tried, this one definitely needs an advanced booking as they are a relatively small space. It is a must-visit for sure!

This is the kind of place you talk about long after you’ve left the city. And a special shout-out to Jonathan, who may very well be one of the best bartenders I’ve ever encountered. His cocktails were flawless — inventive, perfectly balanced, and clearly crafted with real passion and expertise. Beyond that, his warmth and hospitality elevated the entire evening. Service like that stays with you. If you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation at Tostevere, consider yourself fortunate. This is a once-in-a-while dining experience — the kind you never forget and immediately want to relive. Absolute perfection from start to finish. Do not miss this place.

One of the most delicious and delightful meals of my trip to San Miguel, several towns in Mexico, and of my life! I was walking by one of my first nights in town and it seemed like a great vibe coming from inside. I saw that the reviews were great, so booked myself for a seat for 1 at the bar the next night. The bartender Jonathan was excellent and made some of the best cocktails I've ever had. He suggested the Tuna & Avocado and Braised Shortrib with Provolone tostadas, and they were phenomenal. Perfect amount of food for one person. Dessert was a delicious glass of wine from the Ensenada, Baja area and it was a perfect night cap. Can not wait to be back in town for another round at Tostevere!

We stopped by before the dinner without reservations for an early dinner and we are glad we did. Probably one of the top 2 meals we had in San Miguel over the 5 days we visited. The salmon and fig pizza was amazing. The drinks are also some of the best we had.

Tostévere is so good! And very cool atmosphere. It’s small and intimate, with the menu handwritten. We went for dinner and had the sweet potato fried, roasted vegetable, and three tostadas: truffled esquites, roasted cauliflower, and seared tuna & avocado. The tostadas were all so good it was hard to pic a favorite. We loved it so much we made a reservation for lunch a few days later! The cocktails are very good too! Highly recommend, and also recommend making a reservation since the place is so small and popular!

Extraordinary, delicious, inventive tapas with fresh farm to table ingredients. The beet salad with whipped goat cheese and figs was fabulous and lightly seared tuna Tostada is seared into memory. Take any reservation you can get , it will be the highlight of your visit. If I come back to SMA it will be to eat at this restaurant again.

Resevations are hard to get. Just go there and ask to wait, you will not be dIsappointed. Only 7 tables. Don't laugh as i have had pizza in Naples, New York, Jersey, Vegas, you name it but i promise you that of all things the pizza was the best ever It is a very small place but authentic and a visual experience. Fernando spoke perfect English and the food was delivered fresh and made when ordered.. Super Great

Outstanding tostadas! The food here is simple and delicious. The menu is small but every item we ordered was expertly prepared with an emphasis on fresh ingredients that blend well together for a delicious meal. Our favorites were the softshell crab wrap, the tuna tostada, and the ribeye sandwich. Service was friendly and fast. Great place for cocktails as well.

This is our favorite place in San Miguel! A very small restaurant that I recommend making a reservation for- service is so friendly! Because the area is so small, it creates an intimate feeling. We tried 3 different tostadas (one with steak, other tuna and the other one was recommended by the waiter) we ate all of it and were almost licking the plate. Some of the options come as sandwiches as well that we did not get to try unfortunately. We absolutely recommend this to anyone, the drinks were just as delicious as well!

This was a place on the list of must check out places. The 4 people in my group each got a different variety of tostada. I got the Peruvian cebiche and it was so different from any other ceviche I've tried, in a great way. It was so delicious! To wash it down I got a lychee martini which also was super tasty. We sat at the bar top and the service was great, everyone was very friendly. It's a tiny spot that's big on flavor, I definitely recommend stopping by.

My husband and I had a great meal here! We were only in town briefly. We split several appetizers. I had the smoky mezcal and my husband got a margarita. I loved that this place is tucked away, and we had a great waitress

One of the best restaurants I ate at in Mexico! The food was so fresh and delicious! The atmosphere was not one of the rooftop terraces as common in this town, but rather the ground floor and still cozy and cute. We got one of the mezcal cocktails which was topped with egg white foam and was the best mezcal cocktail I had potentially ever? The tostadas are to die for! We got the cauliflower one as well as the octopus one and they were so flavorful and just overall the best! Must try in San Miguel!

Local restaurant with amazing Tostadas, salads, sweet potato fries and so many other delicious options. As for drinks, the basil sour is so yummy! Cute place, close to a major street, the Ancha, and not far from Parque Juarez.

Unbelievable!!! This place is worth traveling from across the world to visit. Unbelievable flavors and fresh, inventive ideas. Some of the best food I've ever had. It is small so make a reservation. You will not regret it!

The food, service and ambiance are excellent. The restaurant is small so it may be difficult to get a reservation at times.

Amazing gem! We came at 3pm on a Saturday and luckily snagged a spot at the bar. If you have a big group you'll need to get a reservation in advance as the place is really tiny and popular. Everything was so tasty, including the drinks. FOOD - Soft shell crab wrap - Shrimp tempura taco - Peruvian ceviche tostada - Sirloin and melted cheese tostada DRINKS - Passionfruit margarita - Basil sour

Definitely the best meal I had in SM, at any price point. I had a list of restaurants to try during my month here and this was at the top of the list. And I was not disappointed. The menu is pretty small, and they seem to specialize in tostados, I had memorized the menu before I got there so I was ready haha. I started with the roasted beet salad, which was amazing. Warm roasted beets, toasted nuts (pine nuts?), greens, cheese (goat cheese?). So good. Followed it up with a grilled octopus and then seared tuna and avocado tostados. They were amazing as well. Figured I had to try the Black Mambo drink, which didn't disappoint. I will be back in SM next month and will make sure to return to Tostevere!

After making a reservation for 2 people weeks in advance and confirming our table for 2 at 7 pm, there was no table for us when we arrived. We were offered a cramped 2 seats at the bar and told the 2 empty tables were reserved. The host was not nice about this in the least, even when shown my online reservation. When the reservation said table, I assumed it meant table not bar stool. I know the food is supposed to be good, but no food is worth being treated so rudely. We walked across the street to Tene, a gorgeous restaurant with impeccable service where we were treated like royalty. The food was delicious in a beautiful setting.

This little neighborhood bar is SO cool. They don't have many tables (reservations recommended) but their food is outstanding. Their drinks are also incredible.

This is a small super quaint restaurant with excellent food and service Almost everything on the menu is grilled and good portions, so sharing is a good idea. Ingredients were fresh and presentation was stellar. I don't eat beets but what ever they did to this roasted vegetable plate was amazing. The soft crab taco was so good, and the sauce that accompanied it was so delish. No disappointments here!!

We needed a quick snack to tide us over between events and found Tostevere on Yelp. What an amazing find! The short rib tostada was outstanding. The sweet potato fries were tasty as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and quick. Just what we needed. Would definitely go back to enjoy a full meal. Highly recommend!

Dining at Tostevere was such a wonderful experience. My friend and I were visiting San Miguel for a few days and wanted to find a casual spot to grab a bite to eat. It's a small intimate space, but adorable and I appreciated the little nook in the corner that had cookbooks on display. (They had the Franklin BBQ book, so it was nice to see a little bit of home here.) We didn't have a reservation but walked in sometime before 8pm and had no issues getting a table. There were a few folks sitting at the bar and others already dining, so it was a good sign that people were enjoying the food end experience. Everything on the menu sounded great. I got the tuna tostada and my friend ordered the taco tatemado de camarón tempura and the tostada de esquites entrufados, but we shared that one and sweet potato fries. It was plenty for two, and we likely didn't need the fries. Prices were affordable and it was also a pleasant surprise that they took credit cards. If you're looking for a delicious, no frills dinner, look no further.

The food was great and the staff equally as fabulous. It has a very limited smile menu and the venue itself is extremely small, maybe 30 people at the same time. Make sure to get a reservation. Their food is fresh and delicious. We enjoyed every sumptuous bite plan ahead and get on over there!

Great drinks and tostadas that are sized and priced right for sharing and trying multiple options. Not a dud among the four dishes I sampled/shared. Not too many tables so probably best for couples or very small groups. My two friends and I ate at the bar and had a wonderful experience.

We were fortunate that our friend booked this place in advance. It is a tiny place that specializes in tostadas. The host was very affable and giggled all night. He was such a cheerful man. Most importantly the food was amazing! I've never had tostadas like this before and I've lived in California. The roast beet salad - superb! The grilled vegetables. Short rib, octopus and tuna avocado tostadas - were all delicious! Portions are generous!

Best Meal I have had in San Miguel. Go with a big appetite so that you can try as many of the amazing things on the menu as you can. Lychee martini and passion fruit margaritas were insane. Every tostada was incredible. Service was amazing. I had originally called to try to get a reservation for a group of 9. They told me they had no availability, but that they would call me if something opened up. I am so grateful they called and squeezed us in because it was a truly incredible experience. If you can get a table, this restaurant is a must.

SMA is filled with restaurants that are heavy on style (decor, vibes) and meh on substance (the actual food). Thankfully, tostevere is not one of those insta traps! Every single dish and drink we had here was amazing. Special shout outs to the the corn/truffle tostada and the soft shell crab taco! Space is limited so try to get a reservation ahead of time if you can!

This was right around the corner of our Airbnb. It is a cute small restaurant with a bar. Carajillo- Wow this drink blew my mind its belongs in a fancy top rated bar drink taste is excellent!! one of the best coffee alcoholic beverages I have had. Ordered shrimp tempura taco, roasted beet salad, truffle esquite tostada, sirloin steak cheese tostada.

Small but charming restaurant in SMA. Incredible food. Incredible cocktails. Great service even at the bar. Make reservations, one day in advance only a couple of bar seats were open. Still a great place to eat and watch the bartender create her magic.

This was by far my favorite place in San Miguel. I stumbled into this place after looking on Yelp, and I'm SO glad I did. The prices are AMAZING! And the food is even better. I had one of the best cocktails of my life there (and it was like $7 by US standards). I will be back because there is more food I didn't get to try! The restaurant is really small, so the best time to go is around 2:00-3:00 when it's still quiet. There are several bar seats and probably..... 8 tables? I was always seated immediately when I came in the afternoon. I went a couple times....

Made a reservation here a month in advance only to arrive and they had given our table away. They said it was because we were late but the people they sat at our table were already being served. If you decide to reserve here make sure you have a backup plan as it was tough to get reseated as a family of 5 with a baby.

Staff is very attentive and friendly. English menu translation is available. Every dish I've had or experience is delicious and love the drinks. I haven't experienced one bad issue coming here twice. I'm a Fan!

My absolute favorite in San Miguel! Everything about this place is fabulous. Tiny and quaint, excellent service, fabulous drinks and the best food around. Get the spicy mezcal with coconut cream. It's perfect. My favorites for food were the cauliflower tostadas and by far the esquites. Honestly I want back again just for those and they even gave me tips on how to recreate that at home. I would go here anytime, it's that good!

We had a truly exceptional meal. Both entrees had a layering of flavors that I have never experienced before, we would take a bite, exclaim about how good it was and then some other flavor would hit and we'd exclaim again from that same bite.

Small hole in the wall, but they do everything well. Not much on the menu, but it's all choice. Very original (both the food and the drinks). Asked the staff for recommendations and they steered me right. And don't underestimate the kitchen -- the menu might be small, but we walked out very satisfied.

So delicious, vibe was awesome with chill music, mellow lighting and the food was beautiful. Every dish and cocktail was fully instagram worthy and more importantly, delicious! The soft shell crab wrap was mega and my favorite cocktail was the Black Mamba, a balanced mezcal cocktail. We sat at the bar and Andres the bartender was an artist with every drink and a total legend. Hood vibes! Highly recommend for sharing dishes with friends.

This is my cousin's favorite restaurant in in the whole wide world, and I have to agree, it's pretty darn good. The food is absolutely delicious and the service beyond great. I forgot our server's name, but he was a gem. I will say, this place is very small and has just 5-6 tables, and 3-4 seats at the bar. The ambiance is very lowkey but vibrant at the same time. I would recommend ordering a bunch of plates to share, and then order a duplicate for the ones you like, which will be pretty much everything. We had about 5-6 dif dishes and ended up ordering a duplicate after. Their bartender is awesome serving up some great craft cocktails. Can't name all the dishes, but just show your server my photos; you will not be disappointed. Would definitely come back here again. One of my favs in San Miguel for sure!

Best restaurant we experienced in San Miguel. We made reservations at 1400 for a late lunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. We had two tostadas, tuna and octopus, and the ham and mozzarella pizza. The interior is small and beautifully decorated, perfect for a cozy lunch or dinner. Make sure to make reservations or try to walk in early for a spot at the bar. Fantastic meal!

This small little joint packs a BIG punch with taste and creativity of the menu. A very very nice staff, small little cave-like interior and close to town.

Our favorite meal in San Miguel! The restaurant is small and intimate and every tostada we ordered was delicious. Definitely order the sirloin, beef short rib and roasted corn tostadas.

You need to make a reservation. They have limited seating and hours. I can't recommend this place enough. They have great drinks and the food is fantastic. The service is also first class. We are coming back here again and again and again. You should too.

Amazing! Chose things I never had and it was wonderful. Like a party in my mouth. Beautiful presentation! Great service. Small so make reservations, if possible. Ask for an English menu.

Had a difficult time getting a reservation - but well worth the wait. Our server was delightful and took the time to explain everything. My beet salad was the best I've ever had - anywhere! I had the Octopus Tostada, which was wonderful and husband had the steak sandwich - which he loved as well. The owner was very welcoming and spent time with everyone - not that there are that many people in the place - it's quite tiny, but quite cozy. On our "return next year" list.

The second time was the charm. I tried coming one night after reading some good reviews but they were packed and the wait was 2 hours. Undeterred, I came back the next day as soon as they opened for lunch and got a walk in spot at the bar. The bartender was super friendly. I ordered the truffle esquites and sweet potato fries. The truffle esquites weren't very good. It was a ton of corn with a dollop of cream on top and it lacked seasoning. For dessert, I tried their balsamic glazed figs with ice cream. It was good but there were a lot of figs and sauce and I could have done with less. If you're wondering why the four stars, it's for the service and the sweet potato fries which were excellent - the perfect balance of crispy and soft and impeccably seasoned. I would go back just for those fries and to try the crab soft shell wrap which also sounded good.

Was difficult to get a reservation but well worth the wait. The ambiance was peaceful and elegant. The wait staff was efficient and friendly. But the real star was the food. The Esquites was one of my favorite dishes EVER! I can't even describe how flavorful and satisfying it was!

Our favorite restaurant in all of SMA. The seasonal menu is a delight, and every single thing on there is worth ordering, with the soft shell crab and tempura shrimp taco being our favorites. The mixologist is a gem and crafting some amazing cocktails. The waitstaff is attentive while not overbearing and we never felt rushed. Can't wait to go back on our next visit!
