"Within 90 minutes of Nice’s Promenade des Anglais are 15 ski resorts, making it easy to start the day at the beach then head to the hills for an afternoon in the snow. Isola 2000 and Valberg offermiles of slopes for fans of downhill skiing (what the French call la glisse ), while the lower altitudes are ideal for cross-country skiers. Not exotic enough? How about ski parasailing, dogsledding, and snowshoeing, all of which are also offered. The southern Alps are truly where ski season meets the blue sea."

Isola 2000 in the summer is a beautiful green place, they rent bicycles and you can take a lift to the very top to ride, there are not very many people, the infrastructure in this area is not very developed. We found only one supermarket working, there was nowhere to eat, June 2025

We have visited Isola in March, expected a lot of sun but have got a snowfall all 7 days long. But slopes was well trodden, staff worked hard during nights to prepare it. It's nice and quiet ski resort, with a lot of blue slopes for ski enjoying. Also there was not too many people, which is a good thing for us who love that.

Great place to ski/snowboard. There are places there to rent gear, buy food and sit down for a coffee/hot chocolate. I was there during February vacation and it wasn’t so crowded on the slopes. The Ski school for kids was crowded. Great variety of slopes from easy to hard. Great time and definitely recommend.

Isola 2000 is a fantastic ski resort located in the stunning Alpen Maritime region, about two hours away from Nice and nearly 7,000 feet above sea level. While the entrance fee for adults is slightly higher at €32.50, the experience justifies the cost. The resort is bright, sunny, and incredibly scenic, making it a must-visit for those exploring Nice or the French Riviera. Highlights: Beginner-Friendly: The base area of Isola 2000 is perfect for beginners. The staff and visitors are extremely friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming environment for novices. Diverse Visitors: Skiers and snowboarders from all over Europe gather here, adding a lively and cosmopolitan vibe. Getting There: Public Transport: The ISO Isola public transport requires a reservation (€14 return), which must be made a day in advance online or at the Tourism Office. Alternatively, you can use bus 92 from Nice, but note that it has a limited schedule with only two buses for the round trip. Be sure to check the timetable carefully. By Car: If you drive, you’ll likely park at P1, the lower area of the resort. This area is convenient but has fewer ski rental options (primarily ISOGLESSE) and limited accommodation. Ski Rentals: The resort offers plenty of rental and purchase options for ski equipment, especially in the base area. Packages start at around €20, making it relatively affordable compared to other European ski destinations. Final Thoughts: Isola 2000 is a delightful destination for both seasoned skiers and beginners. Its accessibility, affordability, and friendly atmosphere make it a top choice for anyone visiting the French Riviera. Just plan your transport carefully and reserve in advance if using public options. Whether you’re skiing for a day or staying longer, Isola 2000 is worth every moment.

Don’t go there! It’s well maintained, perfect weather and empty off season (when high season in Austria). Food is amazing and surprisingly cheap. A true hidden gem. Don’t share it with anyone.

Great ski resort close to Nice (1hr30). Skiing is great considering winter weather on the Mediterranean (we went from 1 degree on the mountain to 17degrees on our drive home in January). Travelled with baby under 1 years old, which can be a bit difficult to walk around the main area as there are steps and stairs everywhere. Nothing major, though, if you are there for a short time. Plenty of skiing and eating options. All reasonably priced

Lovely scenery and excellent facilities. However I appreciate hikers aren't their target customers because to find the trails for hikers was really difficult. It is complicated with the VTT as obviously it is a perfect destination for this type of holiday. If I had a bit more practice I would have loved to have done the circuits on a mountain bike but I'm not at that suicidal level 😉😁😁 The swimming pool was really good and there is an excellent choice of restaurants and shops. The Doctor service is brilliant along with the pharmacy who were really helpful and rescued me from a problem. There is so much to see there and I will be going back if I can. The views around there are breathtaking and a trip up the mountain needs to be done. The tourist office staff need to remember that a smile costs nothing. I had a lovely young lady who was really helpful cheerful and couldn't do enough. My wife went in there twice and both times was not impressed with the attitude or service Isola 2000 is a lovely gem hidden in the mountains and I really liked it.

Yelp
This ski resort is just a one and a half hour -gorgeous- drive from Nice. Wind through the southern French alps (a.k.a. Alpes-Maritimes) and arrive at a place that offers more than reasonable skiing for a very decent rate. The little village of Isola 2000 has it all from an aquatic center with kid friendly activities, to an adults only spa with hamam, jacuzzi, saunas and more.
