Tournai Youth Hostel

This was an excellent place to stay. The room was clean. The staff were welcoming and exceptional value for money. Interestung old building. Managed to park nearby. Tournai was beautiful. An excellent place to visit after our channel crossing.

No frills hostel in great location, not far from the centre of this historic city. Train station 20 min walk. The building is old and has that feeling that it has seen a lot of things over the years. Staff friendly and accommodating, we were allowed to check in early as our room was ready. Rooms totally fine, basic but clean, beds comfy. No toilet in the room, but plenty of toilet blocks on each floor. The toilet blocks could have been better maintained, towel dispensers were empty and a broken seat on our floor, but the hostel was dealing with a full house of rugby supporters in town for the World Cup in nearby Lille. A good breakfast, simple but good quality and plentiful. Overall a great place to stay overnight and good value. Would have rated 5 of the toilets were just a bit better maintained and if the corridor fire door had padding so it didn't slam so loudly every time it closed!

Rooms are a bit spartan but ok, bathrooms are clean, breakfast is very good (but maybe not many options), common areas are nice, wifi works well. Location is great. Would recommend

Due to the limited selection of accommodation in Tournai, we booked an individual room for one night to see what this youth hostel could offer. It was beyond our expectation: a very clean room, a welcoming atmosphere, a nice mixture of younger and older guests, and a lovely courtyard. As a general rule, we had to make our beds (free linens) and had to rent towels (1.5 euro each, 5 euro deposit required) but it was not a problem at all. Each room got the bathroom, but the toilet was outside, to be shared with other guests. The price was really reasonable, including breakfast.

The hostel is located in a nice quiet street in the center.||After midnight they locked the main entrance so it's pretty safe! They give you a card for a room and after midnight you can enter with the same card in the back entrance. Don't keep the card near a mobile phone otherwise the card won't work and you wont be able to enter in the room.||The guy that works at the bar (I think Gilles was his name) it's super friendly and helpful! He gave us a map of the city and marked on the map everything we wanted to see in Tournai.||Breakfast was great.||The rooms are cozy, and my bed was comfortable! I stayed in a room with a toilet and a shower cabin, other rooms had only toilette.||The wifi is free and it's working fine, except in some places on the 2nd floor. You need to log in every time you turn on the wi fi on your phone.

Nice sleeping option at walking distance to the historical center. Lots of food options close by.. nice restored old building, we loved the chill out room with books and DVDs.. breakfast is included and had lots of yummy options.. tip: As a couple, for a few of euros more you can get a six bed dorm for yourselves if there is room

Clean rooms, friendly staff. There is a common TV room. Location is within the historical center, very near places of interest. Breakfast was good. I met Charlie, the owner, and he was nice. ||||When in Tournai and going to Brussels, try FunKey Hotel, real value for money and superb service.

Minimalistic design. Really stiff beds and bad pillows. Wifi was unavailable for days.Two Common toilets for the whole floor. Got a room facing the road. Very very noisy and kept us up the whole night. Two windows in the room but one couldn't be opened, resulting in a very hot and stuffy room. No shampoo or towels. Rent one towel for 1.5 euro.
