I enjoyed a packed and engaging tour with M. Robert Simard. He was quite humorous and entertained our curious minds. He took us to locations that were extremely significant to Canadian and Québecois’ military, social, and political history, and he took the time to describe the importance of why the way that history was preserved was so special and unique. I highly recommend taking this walking tour as it provides you with deeper insight and gratitude for this well-aged, beautiful city. Oh- and remember that the pedestrian crosswalk signs on the roads are just for decoration. 😆

Google
Our walking tour of Quebec City was amazing! Our guide was so knowledgeable and very engaging! I cannot believe all of the history she managed to pack into 2.5 hours! We were so glad that we decided to do the tour rather than trying to explore on our own. What an incredibly beautiful and historic city. We will be back again!

Google
We took a 2-hour walking tour with Paul yesterday and it was an amazing experience. Paul is a friendly and knowledgeable guide who is happy to answer any questions and suggest best places to visit. If you don’t mind walking for 2+ hours, you should definitely book this tour.

Paige T.

Google
We had a wonderful tour experience with Robert, he was so knowledgeable, and relatable to everyone in our group, from young to old. Our family felt very lucky to have learned so much about Quebec City from such a passionate guide!

Vasti N.

Google
Francis was incredibly knowledgeable and understanding. Managing a walking tour with five kids is no easy task, but he handled it with patience and grace. Despite the cold weather, the tour was both enjoyable and very interesting. At the end, Francis even recommended a fantastic place to eat, which was the perfect way to wrap up the day with excellent food. I highly recommend Francis for his expertise, patience, and humility.

Google
We had a great walking tour of the Old Town. It was rich with detailed history and information on the culture, architecture, and political background of Quebec. We covered a lot of the area on foot. Marc also shared interesting anecdotes throughout our tour. Marc was most helpful to ensure I did not slip on the snowy sidewalks. I'd heartily recommend Marc and Tours Voir Quebec!

Google
Our guide, Robert, was one of the top tour guides we’ve ever had! He was passionate about bringing his city to life for his tour group. His personal knowledge and experiences of Quebec were woven into an historical story that came to life along the streets of Quebec. We found Robert to be witty and the way he unfolded the story was entertaining and steeped in history. He wasn’t in a hurry, found places for us to rest in the shade and ensured that we left the tour with a full understanding of Quebec’s history and the local hot spots to dig deeper on our own after the tour.

Google
Our family of 6 just did this tour today. Carol was awesome! So charming and informative! My adult kids and husband loved it. I wimped out with my Florida blood. People don’t skimp on hats and thick gloves! Anyway today was amazing we fell for Quebec and thank the tour company and Carol ❤️

Susie K.

Yelp
Robert gave us an excellent tour yesterday. Despite the very rainy weather, we enjoyed his knowledge and sense of humor. He also made sure we were protected from the rain as much as possible. I definitely recommend this tour of upper and lower Quebec City (with Robert if possible.

Yelp
The walking tour was excellent, with our tour guide Marie giving local insights to the history of Old Town. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The only problem was AFTER the tour, when I had to walk up the 200 steps and several steep uphill sections back to my parked automobile. Unless you are a young athlete, please take the Funicular back to the top! It's worth whatever they charge you. Also, street parking in this area is almost impossible to come by. Parking at a local hotel cost me $50 (Canadian). Be careful where you park.

Yelp
This was one of the best walking tours we've been on. Francois/Frances is very knowledgeable, entertaining detailed, enthusiastic, happy fun, and entertaining tour guide. One of the best I would say we learned so much about Quebec, Quebec City and Canada that would give them six stars but I can't. There is so much history here that it is impossible to learn in one session. I would recommend this tour very highly, especially with François.

Yelp
This is our first time in Quebec. We believe the best way to get to see and know a city is by walking it so we signed up for the 3:30 Grand Walking Tour. It was perfect! Our guide was (Ghi) not sure how to spell it but he was wonderful. He provided a ton of information and was happy to answer any questions. He spoke English well and he's a very nice man. As we walked from one landmark to another, he told us the history, facts and folklore about the upper and lower old Quebec. Not only did we get a great tour of the city, I got my bearings and have a plan as to what to go back to for further exploration. We LOVE Quebec!

Artie S.

Yelp
I've been to Quebec City before but never on a guided walking tour. What made this tour so great was Jocelyne Belleau. She's been doing these tours for about 15 years but instead of sounding tired and bored, she sounded excited and enthusiastic as if this was the first tour she was giving. Mix in some history and humor and it was a wonderful and educational experience.

Yelp
I went on the 2.5 hour food tour, and looking at the reviews here they seem to have updated it a bit. Whether it's for the better or worse I don't know, but I personally really enjoyed it (hey, free food! Who wouldn't want that?). The stops in the food tour include La Crémaillère, La Patriarche, Les Delices De L'erable, Ninkasi, Le Moine Échanson, Le Billig, and Érico. Each of the stops features some of the most authentic European or Quebecois French cuisine, and they are famous for cuisines such as wine, beer, maple syrup, cheese, crepes, ham, and chocolate. Some other places we stopped at include Quebec City Hall, the Morrin Centre, Place d'Youville, SAQ, and Épicerie J A Moisan. Our tour guide was very informative and had great connections with the employees in each of the food tour stops. She added the other places for stops as well as she wanted to make this a unique tour with a bit of historical background and not just about food, and I personally found it was done very well. The only drawback I had with the tour was not with the tour itself, but there were a few stops where the employees lacked knowledge of their products. At one of the stops the employee talking to us had to get another person to explain the products cause she couldn't explain them in English. I didn't mind too much since French is the language of communication in Quebec, but it was enough of a headache for me to rate it 4 stars instead of 5. If this is your first time in Quebec and you want to know different cuisines or restaurant ideas, this is definitely a tour you should consider.

Yelp
My husband, adult son and I visited Canada at the beginning of August. We started our trip in Quebec City. What a beautiful city to visit!, We took a walk tour with Tours Voir Quebec and our tour guide was wonderful!. His name is Robert Simard. Let's start saying that even though everyone speaks French there, his English was excellent, his accent very easy to understand which is crucial for a guide to have. He was very knowledgeable, entertaining with either funny or interesting comments, an enthusiastic, which makes the tour enjoyable. He also recommended a couple good places to eat and gave us a great advice about the waterfalls we were going to visit later that day. I very much recommend the tour and our tour guide.

Yelp
I usually love walking tours and was excited for this one, but unfortunately this one wasn't the greatest. Highlights: - Learned about the the location of a few places we wanted to visit - Got local advice on a few places to eat Lowlights: - Didn't cover much ground or many sights - Too much detailed talking in each spot that it got boring - Tour went half hour over the 2 hour 15 min - Didn't learn as much about the town as I would've liked: mostly history of a battle and nuns Guide was obviously passionate about his job but wished I had a better experience.

Yelp
Basing this review on the price, the service when purchasing tickets, and, most importantly, the guide. Our tour guide, Jean-Francois, was terrific! His pride in Quebec, being a 13 generation Quebec native, was evident. His clear presentation of facts, his attention to the questions of the group, and extending the tour to close to 3 hours made him worthy of 5 stars! The cost of the tour was reasonable for a family. Purchasing the tickets at the information booth was a breeze. They offer many English speaking tours each day.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
What an exceptional experience. We weee told to absolutely take the walking tour so we did. We toured all around and learned key points and history. It was the greatest walking tour of all. Anne Tangvay was above and beyond the best tour guide. She recommended things and had a nice list of good places. She pleasantly answered everyone's questions and looked at such peace doing her job. Congratulations to management for hiring such a treasure employee. We will be sure to share our adventure with other travelers.

Gary M.

Yelp
Outstanding walking tour of old Quebec, in English! Two hours of history and architecture, very well presented.

Yelp
Fun tour of the old town and we got to sample some great food bites from several local eateries. Simon, our guide was fabulous, fun and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend. Great opportunity to pick a locals brain on the best places to eat no matter your budget. The chocolatier on the final stop was the creme de la creme! Delicious.

Yelp
As has been pointed out, this tour really just points out the attractions, rather than entering them (for the most part; we did go into a church), but that was what I was expecting. The thing is that the guide was really long-winded, and often seemed to lose track of what we were talking about -- and so I felt like he "compressed" a 45 minute tour into 2+ hours. By the end of the two hours people were making excuses to leave early. Bottom line: it was just OK (and wear comfortable shoes if you go). Or just look at any website or guidebook and pick the five most important sites. Then you can go to them and take their tours. That would probably show you more, at about the same price.

Yelp
We spent 5 days in Quebec and did several tours. There is one that stood out to us and we wanted to mention it . It was our walking tour with the tour guide Francois Vidal. This tour guide was amazing and detailed and friendly. We learned more in the 2.5 hours walking with him than we did on the other 5 tours we took. His passion and excitement for Quebec was evident. It's was a true pleasure. I would also like to add that I did a walking tour with someone else and it was no where as good. This guy truly rocked the tour. I must add that I can tell the differences in the types of construction now!

Yelp
We did the Grand Walking tour and the boat tour on the St Lawrence. Mike did a good job with all his stories. He pointed out the important sites. There was no way we could have visited everything. We did a lot of walking. I would have liked to cover more of Quebec City but we only had 2 hours. Mike did a good job with his restaurant recommendations. Bought the tickets in the information bureau; had reserved in advance over the phone. The St. Lawrence Louis Jolliet AML boat tour was nothing great over 90 minutes. They had the refreshment area closed on the top deck and the deck below was setting up for dinner (4PM cruise) so had to hunt out a refreshment. Drink prices were on the high side but fit right in with Quebec high pricing. Got to see the falls.

Elise R.

Yelp
We did the 2PM food tour on a Wednesday and had a great time. Our tour guide, Louise, was funny and factual as she took us around Old Quebec and slightly outside the city's walls. We stopped at 7 different locations, all of which had great staff who greeted us warmly. My husband ate and drank all that was offered, but I didn't try everything because I'm somewhat picky. However, we enjoyed the food that we did eat! It is a lot of walking outside, so try to plan accordingly if you can. We got lucky that the day we booked months before happened to be a beautiful one. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
The tour guide took us all around old town. Quebec is gorgeous. However, I was disappointed our tour guide was not as engaging as I had hoped. I was still very grateful we could book a tour last minute. They let us pay right when we got there. I didn't know the tourism info center at Quebec City is across from the Fairmont. They have a plethora of different stations to book from. If I had the time I would probably look around but I planned this last minute. And they were very accommodating and it was cheap too.

Yelp
A fun, interesting tour led by the bubbly and knowledgeable Francis. He even kept my thirteen-year-old engaged!

Yelp
We did the 2.5 hour food tour which departs at 2:30pm every afternoon from the tourist office. Our tour guide was Jean-Marc. The group was full (15-16 people is the most they take). It probably could have been better with only 10 as we were quite cramped in some areas, but this was ok. We visited 7 places: Restaurant La Crémaillère - sampled an amuse bouche of a boccacini type cheese. Delicious! Les Délices de l'Erable - sampled various maple products. Patriarche - visited the wine cellar, sampled wine an an appetizer Epicerie J A Moisan - the oldest grocery store in Quebec, local cheese sampling SAQ - the local booze store, where we sampled a maple syrup infused whisky and an iced cider both local to Quebec Le Hobbit creperie - sampled a cider along with a ham & cheese buckwheat crepe Erico chocolate shop - chocolate! The tour didn't have too much walking and the pace was slowish for me (most of the tourists in Quebec City seem to be 60+). The guide was good and the information given at each place was quite interesting.

Yelp
The tour promises to "lead you through all the important sites of Old Quebec" and "meanders next to Quebec historical sites such as the Citadel/Musée Royal 22è Régiment, Chateau Frontenac, Quebec fortifications, Place Royale and uncovers many hidden Quebec sites!" And in fact, I'd say that was accurate - it leads you through and meanders but doesn't actually go to any of these sites or give you any real information about these places. If you went over that hill you'd be able to see the Citadel, down the road where we aren't going is a very famous site, just around the bend is something quite famous you'll never see on this tour...what?! When I took the Grand Tour I was actually hoping to see some of the famous sites of Quebec City and learn more about the history of this beautiful city. Instead, our tour guide pointed to locations and told us how great the various tours were at these sites. Wish I had taken one of those instead! It was very disappointing to say the least.

Yelp
I went on the 2.5 hour food tour on a very snowy day in January. Fortunately, my party was the only one that booked for that day, so it ended up being a private tour! I had a wonderful time and went to all the same places that Lauren M. listed in her review on 9/18/2012. All of the businesses we visited were very welcoming and I received a voucher/coupon from each place. I only wish I was in the city longer so that I could actually use them! I learned a good bit a history along the way and thought this was a nice way to get introduced to the city. It was a little expensive in my opinion, but it was still enjoyable.

Yelp
We did the walking tour with John. Man, oh man, I have never met anyone as passionate about their city as John. In almost all dimensions, John was everything you could ask for in a tour guide. Loud, sonorous voice, knowledgeable about the history, current events and gossip of Quebec city and just down-right entertaining. This man was made to tell stories. My only quibble I have is that he doesn't handle questions very well. I wanted clarification about something that he said, and he made me feel kind of stupid in front of the crowd. I don't think it was mean-spirited, so I'm not too perturbed. Our tour was supposed to be 2 hours, but he talked for 3. I was fine with that bc I came to Quebec City to learn something. I definitely recommend this tour.

Yelp
We took the evening tour which left at 2 PM, it was raining. Unfortunately there was a ton of traffic and we basically sat through a 2-1/2 hour traffic jam. Those factors were beyond the controls of the tour operator. My first complaint is that this "historical tour" was very boring and only mentioned several dry unmemorable historical facts. I have been on several city tours which combined comedy with history and made for an enjoyable tour. This tour combined with the traffic and very hard seats (not cushioned) only made me wish for the tour to end.

Yelp
Went on the two hour walking tour on a hot day in July. Our guide was Mike. We had just the opposite experience from Brenda C. Prior to the start of the tour Mike took the time to introduce himself to each person on the tour and especially to my teenagers. I was appreciative of him engaging them throughout the tour (believe it or not some teenagers don't appreciate a great deal of history! about a foreign country). I'll admit that I didn't know a great deal of the history of Quebec or Canada (apologies to our norther neighbors), but when we were standing looking towards the citadel and Mike was explaining the battle of the Planes of Abraham, I was enthralled. He was able to take us back to what it must have been like with just words and hand motions We did walk a lot and luckily it was downhill. Maybe it's juts because II'm not from Canada, but all the other stops were just as interesting. The tour wound up being closer to 2 and half hours and ended up just below the Frontenac in the lower portion of the city. He was right on about dining recommendations. At the end of the tour he recommended a couple of ice cream shops, knowing that the kids would appreciate that. He was right. It's the guide that makes the difference and I'm glad we had Mike. Sadly, at the end of the tour he spend a lot of time with follow up conversations and we did not get a chance to tip him (I know I'm coming off as a cheap tipper). I think we were used to five or six announcements during the trip saying tips are acceptable (you know who I'm talking about Hawk's Cay resort parasailer). I wish I'd tip more.

Yelp
Top class tour. Our guide, Pierre, was one of those special guides who was so passionate and proud of his city. We could have stayed with him all day, listening to all the history, describing the architecture and talking about why QC is such a unique place to live today. Sign up today!!
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Simon was an excellent guide, even though he was not originally from Quebec. The food tour was a good experience, however, be aware, this is not a meal. It is a tasting from a few restaurants, so I suggest lunch beforehand if you have an afternoon tour. The tour was advertised as a Christmas Food Tour, unfortunately the only thing Christmas-y was the date. Based on our 2.5 hr walk, we found some additionally things to visit post tour and even made our Christmas dinner reservations based off this tour.

Diane C.

Yelp
Wonderful 2.5 hour tour with Robert surpassed our expectations. Knowledge impressive and presentation genuine and polished. Strongly recommend for an overview of Old Quebec.

Hannah S.

Yelp
I went on the two hour tour of Old Quebec City in May. I'd definitely recommend this tour if you're interested in learning about how French furriers came to Quebec, convinced French ladies to join them, and fought the British. Some of the sites we visited were L'Ecole Des Ursulines de Quebec (the school established by Ursuline nuns), the Ursuline cathedral, Chateau Frontenac, the Notre-Dame du Quebec, and the old fortifications by the water. Our guide also brought us to a huge mural depicting various important players in Quebec's history, hanging out with each other in the Canadian sun. It was pouring rain during our tour, but the tour guide, Margarita, took the weather as an opportunity to showcase her Quebecois resilience. Her enthusiasm was contagious, even as we were shivering.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Inspector Gamache and Louise Penny fans should definitely check out their Bury Your Dead tour! My guide, Marie, was wonderful, friendly, and had so much great information about the city and its history -- in the case of the tour I chose, told through the lens of the book by Louise Penny set in Quebec City. I would definitely look into another tour if (hopefully!) I come back to Quebec!

Bill R.

Yelp
We had an informative and entertaining walking tour last week. Francis'e Vidal was our guide. Had a nice level of history, architecture and historic charm of the city. I definitely recommend it. Lasted about two hours in the upper and lower city
google avatar

Pam J.

Yelp
We did the grand tour and the food tour both on the same day and I thought it was all perfectly fine. I wasn't expecting either to be particularly "grand" anyway, but both went over-time because the guide was happy to show us around to a lot of different spots and was nice enough to answer all our ridiculous questions. Unfortunately, as others have said, the guide is the most important part, and that can really vary so much. Our guide, Marie, was nice and professional (we did not do any introductions, which I thought was fine, since I work in the business and I know it's so impossible to remember names on such short notice). We did not realize at all that we should have tipped her! We're terrible!

Yelp
Took the Grand Tour with my wife and 3 children, and Neil kept the tour interesting for everyone. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting this city.

Barbara K.

Yelp
Just spent a great afternoon with Simon experiencing all the great cuisine Quebec has to offer. He was so knowledgeable and informative. Would highly recommend. Felt like we made a new friend! We got to experience lots of different things and I will definitely ho to some of the places when I come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Daniel was our tour guide. He was funny and very informative. We loved the tour and learned so much! I would recommend doing this!

Justine M.

Yelp
This is a lovely tour of Quebec that takes you to many key areas within the walls. A great way to learn the history of the city and get your bearings. One of the main reasons we loved this so much was our tour guide, Simon. His passion and knowledge comes through with every word he speaks and he shares stories and details that you won't find in a guide book or through someone who is more formalized in their presentation of the city.

Carrie E.

Yelp
It was "ok", some good stories, some "fill in time" for people to recover from walking up a hill lol! Anyway, it's not a historical tour, it's "storytelling" of some ghost stories, some tragic "incidents". So, I don't think it's not worth the time, but if something else better comes along...do it.

Russel M.

Yelp
Our guide, Neil, gave us one of the best tours we have ever taken, and we travel a lot. With a degree in French history, it is not surprising that he teaches the other guides.
