Google
Absolutely great menu and food. Their mussels are one of my favorite dishes on the island, scallops are small but very tasty and the pasta is outstanding. Also, love their sushi!

Alyssa Webb (.

Google
Town was an incredible dinner. Lilly our server (and bartender) was amazing and made the experience even better! We had the Short Ribs, Bay Scallop Casino, Dragon Roll, Tuna Tartare, and Tuckernuck Clam Chowder!

chris R.

Google
Terrible. They lied. The rack of ribs were actually two small pork medallions with barbecue sauce. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were fantastic. If they tell you you are getting a large rack of ribs. Don't expect it. Couple tiby pieces of pork.

Google
I have been coming to Town for years and I am always impressed with the food, drinks, and service. I recently took my mother and daughter for lunch and it was again fantastic. The food was great and the waiter and staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommend.

Google
We took our chances without a reservation (I recommend you reserve) and they graciously took us in at a high top table at 5:30 on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent, and even better was the old fashioned the bartender made for me. We started with chowder and Indian bread apps. For dinner I ordered the braised short rib and my husband ordered the steak frites. Both meals and apps were amazing. Vegetables are often an afterthought in an entree but the mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus were so fresh and perfectly prepared. I’m not usually one to clean my plate but I skipped dessert to be sure I enjoyed every last bite.

Google
Town never disappoints us !!! Little update (April-May2023) Portions are getting smaller and smaller, and food doesn't taste as used to be. The menu is also half of the size. Drinks are still good. The place is small but has his own charm. The outdoor tree bar is a great summer spot. I will highly recommend mussels - they are probably the best one on this island. Best place for expresso martini. They also do amazing strawberry spicy margaritas. We prefer to sit on the bar and enjoy the bartender company !

Google
Town was pretty good, we sat outside and the atmosphere was nice but it didnt feel too fancy. The mussels were the star of the apps, they were amazingly seasoned and so flavorful. The tuna tartare was also pretty good. Sushi rolls were good, the best ones were the town and the hamachi dragon. Dessert was a little disappointing, and if it was good it couldve edged it to 5 stars. Overall Town was an 8.3/10.

Jackie L.

Google
They have a nice outdoor bar and patio seating, which we enjoyed on a nice summer evening. We stopped by for a drink and sat at the outdoor bar. The drinks were great and Becky, the bartender, was very friendly and nice.

Yelp
We were wandering around town. The bar outside unfortunately did not have any seats so we ended up going up the steps to Town. We were greeted right away by the bartender. He told us he had been watching "spritz videos" and wanted to try to make the "spritz of the day" he had just watched. So we agreed. It had a lot of herbs in (wish i paid more attention to what was in it) we got to talking with other customers and the bartender. He had spent some time in iowa playing hockey. The women's bathroom had a large door that spung open, a waiter opened it for me as I approached, definitely made me feel important. We were just there for a drink before our dinner plans so we settled up and went on our way.

Yelp
Worst service received on the island 1.5 hrs in & still waiting on our food. Finally came out & it was cold, who knows how long it was sitting there. Only saw our waitress twice - to her defense she seemed to be the only one working. Would not return or recommend. Also, super loud obnoxious people at the bar.

Yelp
Tucked away on a side street right behind the Athenium, Queequeg's / Town is a pleasant, low-key duo of restaurants that share a patio, connected by a large bar in between. We've eaten at both restaurants in the past and had no idea they shared the same ownership. (Town was IIRC dressier with a slightly Asian-inflected menu, while Queequeg's was more casual, its menu leaning more towards traditional New England fare.) Currently, at lunchtime, their common menu includes both chowda and a few sushi offerings. Halibut ceviche was quite competent, not overly sweet as it is at many places on the island. Very fresh fish came marinated with an appropriate amount of acid (albeit from vinegar rather than lemon or lime), finely diced red onion, halved grape tomatoes. The slightly stale tortilla chips served on the side were easily ignorable. Fish and chips came gorgeously fried, the cod fresh and enticingly crusted, shoestring fries well blotted. A side of coleslaw was mayonnaise-based and no longer crunchy, a bit past its prime. Unfortunately, a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, and sourdough was less enthusiastically received by our fella with the picky palate, mostly because the eggs in the sandwich came fried, not scrambled. (We weren't asked for a preparation preference; picky eaters should inquire.) The bread was thinly sliced and soft, and almost more akin to the Portuguese bread we always buy from Nantucket Baking Company when we're on the island than the chewy sourdough loaves we typically get in NYC. The sandwich came with a huge pile of shoestring fries. Short-rib tacos came two to the order and were reportedly delicious. The bloody Mary was just so-so, made from a mix. It was supposedly prepared with Tito's, but tasted to me a good bit harsher than Tito's usually is. IIRC, every item was $20ish -- quite fair for Nantucket. We were able to slip in for lunchtime outdoor patio seating without much trouble on a recent holiday weekend. One could do far worse than a sun-dappled lunch on the patio on a warm summer day!

Yelp
Cliff notes: -wanted to stay out of the way with a stroller and get a drink at the high tops -bartender was clearly overwhelmed and cut me off as I was trying to order drinks for my wife and I after he was actively listening to me order -we just left because it was rude and awkward -I'm sure the bartender is a nice guy but he was just a massive asshole

Yelp
We had a really great meal here. Finding a place that's open for a casual dinner in November on Nantucket can be a bit of a challenge. I'd actually never been to Town before, but we walked by and the music was playing and it looked so inviting, that we popped in. Our server Kat was so friendly and attentive. We loved chatting with her and she helped us pick perfect dinners. We started with the mussels which were so good (that broth and the sausage!) I opted for the beet salad and my boyfriend got the lamb which was absolutely incredible. Definitely a nice, casual spot to grab dinner and a drink!

Yelp
Small and cozy place, perfect for a dim lit dinner. Their service was quick, and our waiter was very attentive. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend their steak!
google avatar

Allie C.

Yelp
We had such a great experience with Malcom! He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The chips and guacamole were average. The clam chowder was really flavorful. I thought the bolognese and shrimp scampi were good sized portions and there was a lot of work involved in making it. Small restaurant and the female bartender was a bit snippy but overall great experience
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
It is a quaint restaurant, typically of Nantucket. Great service, atmosphere, and, most importantly, wonderful food. If you have a chance, order the blueberry Crème Brûlée.

Yelp
Good things come in small packages. Town is such a small and unassuming restaurant, you would hardly notice it walking by except for the faint rhythms of reggae and old rock music emanating from the interior of a dining spot in the middle of Nantucket town whose most compelling feature is its outside deck. I found a very accommodating front staff on a busy holiday weekend who had no trouble reserving a table for me on the spot for the next evening. We were given the table of our choice outside when we arrived, which was very pleasant, on the day after a busy holiday weekend. Our server, Tawana, was gracious, fast, and accommodating. When I ordered the Chicken Curry, she asked, quite rightly, if I liked spicy food. In fact, I do, having lived in places like W. Africa and W. Asia. I even asked for some hot sauce on the side. True to Tawana's word, my dish was amply spicy, and I didn't need to add more hot sauce. My girlfriend ordered the Fried Cod balls, which came with a tasty sauce, and the Moroccan Chicken, which she really liked. This was a very pleasant, peaceful, and fulfilling dinner in a cool and intimate setting.

Yelp
Town is a great place to grab a bite in downtown Nantucket. They have a very unique and interesting Asian fusion menu that also features Italian fare for those craving something heavier after a spicy tuna roll (or two.) I opted for the Steak Frites as a main course and it did not disappoint. It's definitely a great place to "go to Town" on upscale eats after afternoon beers at Cisco Brewery!

Yelp
We loved the place and loved the sushi. Our only complains is we waited about a hour for our reservation and we had one. Then when we were eating the owner turned down the lights I guess to get us out of there but we were still eating so could hardly see the meal. Hello , If we could only get a 830pm seating And you don't sit up until 930, then don't expect us to be finished by 10. That is not cool..but the food was good
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
More than just sushi.... We enjoyed the ribs and all the other food that came. We will be back again.

Yelp
Last year we loved the place. Apparently they changed chefs and the menu was very different in 2018. Please I beg that they bring back the crab guacamole. They now have Sushi and it was really good although a little pricey. The portion sizes of the food was just too small for the price. My friend ordered the Lamb chops for $38 and it was not even an appetizer portion. It was also not great tasting. The standout dish of the night for me was the chicken. It was perfectly cooked and moist.

Carlyn C.

Yelp
My daughter and I had the deviled eggs, the spare ribs, the spring rolls, and the Thai chicken. Every dish was amazing. Our server Leonardo was attentive and answers our questions. The menu was easy to find what items were dairy free (allergy here) which makes things so much easier for us. We loved the food, the service and the ambiance. Highly recommend!

Marybeth S.

Yelp
We had a fabulous experience last night at Town on Nantucket! Our server/bartender Joselyn was incredible! We shared truffle fries for appetizer. Our plates were shrimp scampi, salmon, steak frites and short ribs. The presentation and flavors were incredible and probably the best meals we've had on Nantucket in a long time! Cheers to Joselyn for our great experience and we will be bACK!

Yelp
This is a place that i wish I'd visited earlier in my stay here. I just really love the feel of Town. The wait staff gives a much better vibe. Great bartender who serves delicious drinks. If I went by service alone, I'd be here all the time. But the food! I've taken advantage of their earlier bird special (two courses for $25 from 5:30-6:30). I never end up spending just that much, but everything tastes so good I can't help myself. Very Asian fusion. They have a grass feed beef sirloin that is to die for. Their app of shrimp Wantons are excellent too. I have a real love of this place and will go a few more times before I scoot out in December.

Yelp
Food and the service is great. There sushi is really good. They have a great chef who makes some wonderful food.

Kim B.

Yelp
This place is really cute inside. Our server was great and the hostess kept our water glasses full and was so friendly. The food was delicious. The best mussels you will ever have!

Mattie D.

Yelp
Went to dinner the other night & was quite happy with the choice in restaurant. Due to COVID, Town and Queequeg's have combined to have 1 menu with their respective top items. How awesome!! We sat on the Town side and had prompt service, never low on water or drinks, and an attentive staff! Mussels: Amazing. I don't even like mussels and I found these to be tender, full of flavor, simply delicious - not chewy or fishy at all. Truffle fries: a must - the thin fry was full of flavor. Spicy tuna roll: tasted fresh and good sized. Honestly, was a classic spicy tuna roll but considering that's what I ordered, it was great!

Sarah R.

Yelp
Town was our first Nantucket dining experience and it did not disappoint! From the moment you walk through the doors you are greeted by incredible ambiance and a cozy feel. The tuna tartare and mussels were excellent appetizers but we were truly blown away by the sushi we had as our main entree. The presentation and fresh flavor was amazing - and our service all night was excellent. I was also impressed by the staff who noted my reservation notes about my partner's birthday, I highly recommend getting the chocolate cake for desert!
google avatar

Yelp
came in for a sushi roll and the rice isnt seasoned at all, it tastes very bland. I wouldnt recommend this dish. Fun atmosphere and nice staff just order something else

Yelp
We were wandering around Nantucket, trying to decide where to have dinner and we happened upon Town. The menu looked good and they had outdoor seating so we were sold. The outdoor area is beautiful both upscale and causal at the same time. We had: - Ceviche - delicious shrimp and scallops - Korean Tacos - the hubby loved, I thought they were a bit tough - Sushi & Sashimi - we had tuna and salmon, both were really good - Lobster Fra Diavolo - delicious! The sauce had the right amount of heat and the lobster was very sweet We ordered dessert but there was a miscommunication with the waiter so we ended with just coffee, which was just fine because we were very full from our meal.

Parker K.

Yelp
Good spot in the center of town. Great eclectic worldly menu too. Highly recommend for the whole family.
google avatar

Alexa R.

Yelp
So great!! Our bartender/server ( he seemed to be doing it all!) was beyond fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, but just enough. We had the Hamachi Dragon roll, and the Tempura shrimp and tuna rolls, unreal!! The best sushi I have had in years!!! And my husband had the Shrimp scampi, it was delicious! Everything we had, even down to the house Margaritas, all 5 stars. I highly recommend this and their sister the Queequegs, (cute outside seating). Both are fantastic. We will definitely be back. Highly, highly recommend!! Thank you for a fabulous night!

Cori R.

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Called today to place a takeout order at 5:00. The woman that answered the phone told me to call back once they began taking orders at 5:30. I called back at 5:30 and was placed on a 10 minute hold, only to hear that the chef "didn't feel like" fulfilling takeout orders. I asked if the chef was in when I had called 20 minutes prior and was told "yes" but that the restaurant wouldn't confirm or deny with the chef if takeout was being offered until 5:30. Wish I had heard about this before I sat by for 30+ minutes while the available nearby places maxed out for closed for the night.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
Classy Ack spot... Great bar backs, delish food. International Cuisines- gourmet tacos, great Sushi. Come to Town. Just beautiful delish food. Easy , no 'tudde. Real laid back & the sushi & Korean tacos ARE life changing.

Yelp
Totally surprised by dinner here. We made a late change in plans due to a show at Dreamland and were pleased with the quality of the food and service. We will definitely return.
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
I would have given it zero stars but that wasn't an option, I was referred here and when the waiter came up to me we asked for a menu... he starred at us like deer in the headlights... then walked away... 30 minutes later we left... no help just sitting there... terrible service
google avatar

Yelp
Have been there a few times before and had a decent experience. Was there on Tuesday 8/6, and the outside bartender (around 9pm) took my ID and for some reason thought it was fake and kicked us out despite it being a valid ID and me being 27 years old and having drank at their establishment multiple times. I had back up forms of credit card identification with my name and calmly took it up with the manager. Regardless, I understood the seriousness of her responsibility, but how she handled it was completely unprofessional and embarrassing- making a scene in front of the whole bar. I also should note I was in the company of my identical twin sister who was with me and her ID was fine . When I questioned what the issue was, it was that 'it was too beat up', which makes sense because I have been using it for over 5 years since I was legally able to drink. Very poor service by the bar tender and manager of the situation. We should have gone to Arby's- way better food and way cooler people.

Alex C.

Yelp
I've been coming to Town and Queequegs forever! I am so glad they are doing pick up now from Kittys. Calling in my order and picking it up was so easy. And the food was as delicious as sitting down in the restaurant.
google avatar

Marie A.

Yelp
The place is low-key goodness on a summer day. The sushi rolls are tasty and the service is stellar (our waiter Malcolm was a dream) - The bar scene is also fun at night
google avatar

Olivia M.

Yelp
Town was fine - nothing to write home about. It was classy and intimate. We started out our night here for a friend's birthday, and it actually fit our big group of 12 pretty well. It took forever to get drinks though - there was only one bartender on a Saturday night which made it difficult. I waited at the bar for probably 15 mins to order two glasses of wine. I would maybe come back here the next time I'm on island, but I think there are some other places I'd pick over this.

Angie R.

Yelp
I was, as was my entire group, having a great time. It wasn't until I went up to the upstairs bar i I had a bad experience. The bartender was very rude. I usually blow those things off but when my friends confirmed my same thoughts I knew it wasn't just me. !
google avatar

Don Y.

Yelp
The positive part of a 2 star review is the waitress Jill, she was excellent when she showed up. The bartender who was bragging about how good she was and how great her drinks were was mistaken. The spicy tuna roll was really good as was the dynamite shrimp. Probably would never go back.

Sophie S.

Yelp
Town was okay, We had a reservation for 8 and they seated us immediately which was great, however when we sat down the service took a long time. We waited 10-15 mins to even be approached by our waitress and ordered drinks and food. I didn't get something to drink but my sister got club soda which took another 15 mins to come out, then we got our food 45 mins later, We each got a sushi roll which were yummy, and Bibimbap which was GROSS! Do not get that if you go here, honestly just go somewhere else because Nantucket has many more options that are better. It was also def overpriced which is to be expected- it is Nantucket after all, but overall, I will not be coming back. Mediocre at best.

Emily S.

Yelp
Had a very meh experience. We ordered 2 sushi rolls and the bibimbap. The sushi was surprisingly good, but the bibimbap was kind of a flop unfortunately. The menu was very all over the place having everything from sushi, to shrimp scampi, to Indian curry, which was very interesting. The service was quite hectic and the staff was a bit snippy probably because they were very busy, but still. Overall not too bad, but definitely not my first choice.

Yelp
Thanks to Townpool (Nantucket's answer to Groupon), a friend and I were able to eat here on our entry-level non-profit stipends. We were seated outside on a lovely late summer night and had the whole three course meal shabang. For starters, we had a seared scallop appetizer (I tried to look for the name of it, but their menu has changed). I thought they were super tasty. They were prepared just right; not too chewy or dry. Plus, the sauce they were in, was just so savory and buttery. Awesome. But what I really, REALLY, *REALLY* wanted to try was their Lamb Vindaloo. I LOOOOOOVE Indian food. And being on Nantucket for about half a year and being from Miami, I was dying for some Indian. This dish was cooked well; nice tender meat, etc. But the flavors made my heart drop. It didn't taste like anything Indian I had ever had. What it actually reminded me of was something that you can get out of a box. A very specific one: S&B Golden Curry. A Japanese curry mix. Total heartbreak. Dessert delivered the quality and execution of its other dishes. We had a chocolate mousse. Very mousse-y and luxurious. I'm kind of conflicted in giving this place a 3 or a 4. For one, the main reason why I wanted to eat here didn't deliver in taste. Yet, the service, quality of ingredients and execution of the dishes definitely deserve a 4. Being that this is on Nantucket -with less than 1% non-American restaurants here- and myself preferring 100% ethnic and spicy foods, I'll side with me expecting more than what this place could offer as far and give it a 4.

Izzy S.

Yelp
Waited by the hostess stand for over 15 minutes and had 3 staff members walk past us. Even tried waving to get someone's attention. Finally had to call the restaurant and ask someone to come see us... 5 minutes later a young lady came and said she would have to ask someone if we could be seated. She never returned so we left... very Dissapointment
google avatar

tDOG J.

Yelp
Yes, the portions are small. But food and atmosphere is very good. It's also pricey, but what do you expect in Nantucket. Recommend local fish.....ask waiter. have fun and order a lot.
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Outdoor dining was nice as The Boarding House was packed with an hour+ wait. Waitress seemed out of sorts. Took a long time to get our order. Overheard many patrons complaining about mistakes in their order (some were ridiculous complaints, others legit). Food was mediocre. Lobster roll had stale bread. Most things just were adequate. Coffee wasn't refilled. Just very average. Somewhat pricey.

Yelp
What a joke, went there off season and naturally there were only 2 occupied tables. The bartender (I guess Larry is his name) nodded with no expression on his face and the waitress (Olivia) paid zero attention to us. We waited a few minutes and proceeded to a vacant table. 10-15 minutes later (not sure what took them so long, there were only a few people in the place) that waitress comes over and states arrogantly we will have to move. I explain we would prefer to stay at the same table after which she turns around angrily, goes somewhere, returns and starts spraying the table to clean it, spraying us with cleaning solution in the process as if to punish us! What a ridiculous attitude to some of the very few clients you will get off season! That girl has some issues and needs some serious training! I explained that we don't appreciate the treatment and she shared we are welcome to go somewhere else! Both her and that bartender are in the wrong business!

Fabio L.

Yelp
Wow! You have to ask for Malcom or Amanda! They are a great time and add a lot of fun to a great dinner. Food is hands down AMAZING! Get the duck ramen and make sure you come early to get the spacial of the night. If it's not available get the DUCK! Make sure and ask for Malcom or Amanda- you won't be disappointed! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Tom M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Enjoyed Town when we tried it a couple of years ago. Went there tonight and all three entrees were unappealing. The chicken curry was bland, the halibut was over cooked and dry with a flavorless risotto and the steak was a little tough with a brown glaze that again was flavorless. Our waitress was friendly and excellent.

Neil P.

Yelp
Simply have a drink here outside when it's warm- Don't eat- It won't kill you if you do but it's not in anyway awesome. The truffle fries are good but, what could be easier to make.
google avatar

Karl S.

Yelp
We have been fans of Town since it r opened. John you are letting us all down. Our service was fine but the food? We can not express how disappointed we were with the Argentinian Platter. The pickled popcorn was simply a joke. The only up side was the fresh Pork skin app. We hope you change your menu soon John.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
Location and atmosphere good, food needs lots of work. Town is a cozy restaurant in a prime downtown Nantucket location. It has a warm feel with an engaging bar dominating the entrance of the small restaurant. The Asian fusion feel fails with limited offerings. The sushi was average. The confused menu offers only a beet salad (no greens) and the pea soup appetizer was disappointing. The steak was too salty. The service was above average. The wine list by the bottle was surprisingly good. I was pleased to find a fine, limited production Napa Cab - O'Shaughnessy (Howell Mountain), 94 Wine Spectator and priced at $135 and a Chateau Clarke (Medoc) for $75. This said, there were no drinkable wines by the glass - fortunately, my party was ready for bottles.

Jim L.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience tonight. They are extremely opaque about what you're getting. For example, I ordered ceviche. On Nantucket, you would think that would include local seafood. Nope, instead it was almost entirely squid. And bad squid at that. And when I complained they asked if I wanted something else. I said no - but had no idea whether they took it off the bill or left it on (see below). The "NY steak" wasn't really a steak, it was a couple of anemic slices of steak, smothered in some indeterminate sauce. And when the bill came, even though we were six people, we didn't ever actually see the final addition, which meant we had no idea if they had taken the tip out or not. Some of the food was good. But without transparency of what you're actually getting - whether food or the bill - I cannot recommend this restaurant. you can do much better on Nantucket than Town.
