Best stack of fries ever and beer on draft! Music was chill and downtempo and the lighting creates a calm and sexy ambience. Highly recommend

I absolutely love this place, it has been my go to for 3 years! The staff are really nice, especially Jeanie she is so lovely and accommodating! The drinks are top notch along with the food!

Very nice staff & nice patio to enjoy the sun on with some drinks. Passion fruit martini was delicious! And the smash burger was to die for!!! Highly recommend :)

Went here on a Sunday evening with a group of 6. The staff were very friendly and very attentive, we had been sat down, ordered, got drinks got our food and eat our food all within 45 minutes. The food itself was really nice, very good portions especially with the loaded fries and the dumplings were very nice as well!

My son and I were in the area because we were going to see HAWKWIND in the Mandela Hall. It was raining fairly heavily so we quickly looked around for somewhere to eat and found TOWN SQUARE. We were not disappointed. We were there at 5pm so it wasn't full but I've no doubt on a Friday or Saturday it most certainly would be. My son had the Buffalo Stack and I had the KFC Burger both were lovely. The burger came with KIMCHI which I've never had and it was great. We washed both meals down with half pints of Guinness, also very nice. The service was friendly and efficient and the music was good. Would definitely be back.

Cheapest place to get a cider that we found. Belfast pubs very expensive. Really nice staff. Didn't eat but the food looked good that other people had.

Google
Delicious breakfast and yummy hot chocolate! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Love the character of the place and its decor! We’ll be back for sure on our next visit to Belfast. BYW: it is just opposite the Botanic train station. So if you want to grab a bite before getting on the train, this is the ideal place!

Yelp
Came here for dinner while visiting Belfast. I was initially disappointed as none of the food I had seen on yelp, which is what made me want to come here, was being served as their menu rotates (definitely check the menu on their website rather than going by Yelp). It was all bar snacks opposed to the actual dishes you see in the yelp pictures. However, I did end up enjoying the food nonetheless. We ordered the sweet chili stack fries which were really good and also the halloumi and cali fish tacos. I preferred the halloumi, my boyfriend preferred the fish. I got a passionfruit capirinha and my boyfriend got an apple cider, both were really good. Overall it was good, but if you're looking for something other than a burger or bar snacks, this isn't the place.

Yelp
Thier KFC burger ( aka chicken sandwich ) was great. Kim chicken on was awesome along with the arugula.

Yelp
Came here on my first night in Ireland with friends. We were able to get a table quickly, and order. The drinks came quickly and the servers were fantastic! They were really funny and witty and helped us pick out items on the menu. We couldn't order from our phones because we didn't have a number that could receive sms messages to setup the account on our phones, which wasn't a big deal. My vegetarian friend got a veggie burger that he liked and the server said they had just added it to the menu that day. The fries were great and crispy, and everyone liked their sandwiches (some got burgers, some got chicken sandwiches).

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately it ended there. We stopped here due to our first choice being closed; it appeared clean from the outside, but we were wrong. The bathrooms were sub-par, and the Guinness was served warm and in a dirty glass. The food highly lacked favor.

Cam S.

Yelp
Town Square is my go-to bar for drinks with friends. They have wonderful service and there is always somewhere to sit (often under heated lamps!). They have a great drinks selection, good fun atmosphere, the staff are so friendly.

Paul M.

Yelp
This is my go to place for large groups. Such a great place for eating a drinking. Great food, drinks, cocktails, brunch and atmosphere.

Yelp
Town Square is my new favourite place to eat. I attended a Yelp event here and I have been back a few times now. The food is very reasonably priced but also delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive. I love the décor - it's minimal but quite stylish. The only negative thing I have to say is that they don't serve cocktails until after 5pm... don't judge... it was Friday lunch time... but I was able to order a glass of wine so I can't really complain! A full five stars for Town Square!

Ciara S.

Yelp
I love Town Square, it's a wonderfully bohemian and stylish restaurant with great service, delicious food, fabulous cocktails, reasonable prices and a relaxed ambience. I've dined here on a few occasions and find it great for indulgent three course meals, leisurely lunches or relaxed coffees and breakfasts. Décor is warm, modern and bright with wooden shelving, tables, chairs, exposed light bulbs and a scattering of armchairs and sofas. My favourite dishes to date are the: Portobello mushroom, pesto, holloumi and roast red pepper burger. Wild mushroom, leek and cream ribbon pasta. Feta, olive, sundried tomato, pine nut and spinach pasta. Rhubarb and ginger crumble. Town Square also host Movie Mondays so you can relax with food and drink whilst watching a film. Plus art events such as The Loft Studio 'Drink and Draw' evenings are held here as well as coffee tasting and Jazz nights. Currently this is one of my favourite haunts in Belfast and I would highly recommend it. A fabulous place which really brightens up Botanic Avenue.

Colin W.

Yelp
Ok I was out at Town Square last night for a wee meal after the Elite Secret Supper. (I'll not review a place until I have been separate from an event) I ordered the mushroom and Haloumi burger and she ordered the chicken. I'll be honest I was a little disappointed. The burger was more like a mushroom, pepper and haloumi sandwich in a brioche style bun. It was tasty but it wasn't really what I'd class as a burger. My friends chicken while delicious, again was just missing something. It wasn't like the chicken we were served at the Secret Supper. It looked a little dry and lonely. I was also very disappointed at the lack of sides with the choices. The 'burger' came with a small bowl of salad and the chicken came with salad too. When we had the chicken it came with a pesto mash and wilted spinach which was delicious. As the waitress didn't give us a heads up about no proper sides I was left a bit hungry. Desert was a salt caramel choc brownie and coffee which was great (Though a tiny jug of pouring cream would have finished it perfectly) Overall it was a good experience but not as good as the event. Staff were friendly, if not overly attentive and disappointment with sides (I'd pay a few quid more for some to be included or at least have a heads up to order them) Its a great venue and tasty foods but they need to bring some of the shine and attention to detail from the event to up this to a 5 star review.

Yelp
Belfast has numerous cafes and bars with new ones popping up every week. I recently visited Town Square and was really impressed with its unique setup. Outside the entrance there's a street piano for the musically talented or wannabe Beethovens. When I arrived a passing hen party were bashing the poor keys causing a right racket but they were having great craic and this quirky idea really brightens up the street and brings some fun to Botanic. Inside Town Square is an airy modern coffee shop/ restaurant filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The interior is a mixture of wood, cork and stylish leather seats. This is an excellent place for people watching as the window seats are low down at Street level. I really found myself daydreaming looking out the windows whilst sipping my iced latte. The coffee is bold and strong served in stylish glassware on top of wooden boards. They have various roasts and brewing methods including nitro coffee and the trusty aeropress. They also stock beautiful mini cakes and desserts and have a food menu for something more filling. I chose a lemon and almond cake which was tangy and fresh and a perfect accompaniment to my coffee. I really loved their quirky menus -these are handmade booklets with spare blank pages for you to write your favourite quotes, sketch, declare your undying love for that special someone, advertise your new product or even your mates mobile number to blag them a date (or many unwanted phone calls!) Even if you don't put pen to paper the booklets are fun to flick through. You should also check out their toilets...which are vibrant and covered in buttons and shoes! I'll definitely visit Town Square again for a break from the normal bland coffee chain shops.

Yelp
Came in here for a light & late lunch with a large group of friends. Found seating right away for all ten of us, which is remarkable anywhere! This was my first dining experience outside of the states. I heard plenty about the soup from my friends who visited Belfast before me. Since I was looking for something light I ordered just that, the soup of the day. It was carrot and it was pretty good. Not my favorite texture but it was fine. The Guinness bread that came with it was my favorite part of the meal! Moist with a delightful taste with just a bit of butter added. I also had a latte which was served beautifully and tasted just as great with some added pure sugar. I loved the atmosphere in this place and would definitely spend some time here if I ever get the chance to come back!

Yelp
4 words - Nitro coffee on tap!! Called in here for the first time this afternoon for a coffee and little sweet treat after seeing great reviews. Immediately impressed by the design & decor. Very rustic with warm lighting using little filament bulbs. Got seated and was provided with a little menu booklet which was more than your average. It was like a little scrapbook with the menu in the middle and the pages surrounding it had random drawings & deep statements by previous customers. Was interesting to browse through whilst waiting on your order:) So I was very excited to try their new cold nitro coffee from the tap/draught as I'm biggg coffee fan. Unfortunately they had run out! Instead I settled for a cortado which was served as 2 mini cortados on a serving board (see the images below). They were great along side a white chocolate & raspberry mini loaf. Apart from coffee, they have a nice selection of craft beers and other food options too, all very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be returning soon to try the nitro brew!

Daniel S.

Yelp
Pretty nice hipster restaurant, with all you would expect from the word hipster. Wood everywhere; those light bulbs with the massive filament; craft beers and great food. Staff are really friendly and advised us on their selection of ales. I have been here for lunch only. I got a steak and caramelised onion, toasted sourdough sandwich. It was pretty damn tasty. I would guess this place is great for dinner and can't wait to come back to try it again. Maybe notch it up to 5 stars after the next visit. Gutted I missed the Yelp secret supper here a few months ago. I'm sure it would have been a great night!

Yelp
Town Square is situated on Botanic Avenue (just across the road from the Empire) , formerly Metro restaurant. The new owner relaunched the restaurant as Town Square at the end of last year, with the help of one of the guys behind Belfast coffee house, Established. (So, I expected it to have that cool, laid-back feel about it that Established is known for.) We arrived at about 6.45pm and were quickly served our first course, Cauliflower soup with truffle oil served with homemade Guinness wheaten. The soup was thick and creamy; the sort of comforting soup you want on a cold, miserable day. And the wheaten...well, I'd go back for that alone! I don't drink Guinness but that was delicious! It wasn't long before our plates were cleared and we were served our second course of the night- Chicken supreme with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes served with basil mash and rosemary jus. Again, great flavours, particularly the slightly saltiness of the sun-dried tomatoes contrasting with the sweetness of the basil. Finally, we were treated to a third course- the classic rhubarb and custard! OK, it was rhubarb and ginger custard served with creme anglaise (a bit posher!) but again, it was that comforting, home-cooked feeling I got from the first two courses. The rhubarb was tart but mixed with the crumble and the creme anglaise made for a nice finish. I couldn't fault the service- the staff were attentive, speedy and friendly. Drinks were over within minutes and answered all my (many) questions about the food. The restaurant has that laid-back "coffee culture" feel I was expecting- in fact, they even have a Monday night Cinema Club and Tuesday night Coffee Club! How cool! The prices are very reasonable (£3.50 for the soup, £6 for the chicken main, £5.50 for the rhubard crumble.) Once people start to get the vibe of this place, I think it will do very well!

Yelp
Had an amazing first trip here tonight and I can definitely say it won't be my last, it was brilliant. The resteraunt was quirky and the atmosphere was electric. There was background music playing and a lovely bustle about the place. The food was delicious. We had the cauliflower and truffle oil soup, followed by the chicken dish and rhubarb crumble dessert. It was all cooked to perfection and was piping hot which considering there were so many of us being served at the exact same time was fabulous. Last but no means least...the staff...they were the cheeriest, most friendly waiting staff I have ever experienced. They were so genuinely nice and helpful. There were plenty of them too. Can't wait to go back here again some time soon. Loved it :)

Yelp
Last night was my first visit to Town Square. Really easy to get to, directly opposite Botanic Station makes it so handy. The venue looks stunning inside and out, huge windows and the most stunning, quirky interior! Our starter was brought quickly and it was Cauliflower soup with truffle oil, served with some beautiful Guinness bread. The soup was without question, one of the tastiest soups I have ever tasted! I'm generally not a massive fan of cauliflower, but this was to die for, I could have eaten it all over again! For a main course I was served chicken with sundried tomatoes, champ, and a rosemary jus. The chicken was cooked to perfection and amazing, the dish was beautifully put together and tasted fantastic. Last but not least, we had rhubarb crumble with creme angelaise, again, delicious and the perfect dish to round off a wonderful meal. The lady who served us was really friendly and informative. As a treat afterwards, Town Square were showing a movie - Grand Hotel Budapest. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay for the whole film, but it was great watching it in such a lovely setting. Town Square has a real buzz about it and I can't wait to spread the word and return!

Fiona S.

Yelp
I hadn't noticed that this venue was taken over and given a completely new image. I was really impressed, the decor is rustic and stylish with comfortable seating if you just fancy a coffee and catchup with friends. It has a lovely friendly feel where you could sit with some food and check your emails and do some work without being moved on for the next customers to push in. Towards the back has more tables for dining in an ambient atmosphere. The fixtures and fittings throughout are modern and interesting. The staff were very attentive even though it was a full house plus a queue at the door. The food was excellent, generous portions and served quickly. The Guinness and chocolate wheaten was wonderful. They have a free coffee tasting every Tuesday evening where you can blind taste coffee against Starbucks so see which you prefer. Monday nights are movie night, free viewings while you relax with popcorn and beer or a coffee and cake. Hard to beat.

Sian L.

Yelp
Great night out with the elite crew ... Dinner was fantastic and the venue was really great as well. We had cauliflower soup with truffle oil and Guinness wheaten to start which was my favourite course :) The main was chicken stuffed with mozzarella on a bed of mash and jus which was delicious! Dessert was rhubarb and ginger crumble with custard and was amazing but I was so stuffed I couldn't finish it. Would highly recommend a visit to town square ... Botanic is a lovely area and the restaurant is a credit to it !

Mary O.

Yelp
My husband and I are back for our second dinner! We don't often repeat when we travel but Town Square has delicious food, a varied and interesting menu and fast service. Add to that cute decor, friendly people and reasonable prices and a repeat is worth it. Come and enjoy.

Dikla B.

Yelp
Was in Belfast on the night before valentine's day as a group of 13. We booked ahead as it was expected to be busy. We arrived at the time of our booking for a large table already waiting for us, and that was just the beginning of a smooth evening. We were asked to order a set valentine's day menu which we weren't aware of ahead of time, however, at 21£ for a three course meal including a glass of Cava wine it was a really good deal anyhow. I ordered the goats cheese bruschetta and substituted the onion and beetroot relish for chilli jam for a starter, which was delicious. I then ordered roast chicken with mash and chorizo for main and again was not disappointed. The real highlight though was the desserts. Every single dessert on the menu sounded amazing, so as a large group we ordered everything and split it amongst us. It wasn't only amazing on the menu, but they were all absolutely divine. In fact, it's really hard to please a large group of people, but everyone was really happy with everything they ordered. On top of that, the decor of the place was really lovely and cosy. Everything seemed really thought out and the design was really, really cool. The staff too were very lovely and accommodating. We ended up staying from 8:30 all the way to close as we were having such a great time here. At the end of the night, the women in the group were even given roses in light of the valentine's day holiday. We had a really great time here all round and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Belfast or living around the queen's quarter area.

Amy G.

Yelp
Town Square manages to maintain a classy ambiance, with lots of wood paneling and warm yellow lighting, while at the same time remaining low-key with simple dishes and chill waiters in a student atmosphere. I like that the menu is relatively small and simple. It looked like they offer many fun activities including coffee tastings and books on the shelves along the walls. The battered cod features a sizable fillet of fish. I also had a creamy flat white to round out dinner which may not have been the greatest idea at that hour but at least I can confirm that their coffee is strong!

Courtney R.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a whim for brunch and was not disappointed. The staff were extremely welcoming and quick to get me seated and served. I had the Eggs Benedict and a cup of coffee which was great and reasonably priced which was a plus! From the outside it doesn't look very appealing, it actually looks quite formal but you will be pleasantly surprised once inside with the miss matched furniture and homely feel. It's quirky yet relaxed !

Gillian C.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to attend a Yelp secret supper in Town Square (formerly Metro brasserie where I had my wedding reception in Oct '99!) First impressions of the place was that it was a bit hipster looking with cork tiles on the walls & exposed bulbs, but instead of my pet hate of mismatching tables and chairs there were proper facilities plus some comfy armchairs dotted around. The (surprisingly cheap) menu comes inside a notebook which previous patrons have left little notes & drawings in. I was surprised by how busy it was on a Monday evening but soon discovered why. There was a really nice vibe about the place and an eclectic mix of clientele, people in for coffee & meetings, folks meeting for drinks and nibbles, a large older crowd in for a meal & a student type drinking tea and sketching a lightbulb plus all the Yelpers. Staff were very welcoming and offered the wifi password before even being asked for it. All our food was presented beautifully and a description given by the server. Service was slick and we got apologies for having to wait for cocktails but a wait is to be expected and they were rather fine. Onto the food - for starters we were served a cauliflower soup with truffle oil & homemade Guinness wheaten bread. The soup was silky, creamy gorgeousness with a good flavour of cauliflower complemented by the truffle oil (just a hint and not overpowering) and the bread was really moreish. For mains we had chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella & sundried tomatoes, on a creamy basil mash, wilted spinach & rosemary jus. The chicken was nicely cooked, moist & tender with some crispy skin on top, mash was creamy and tasty. Although the jus had a nice hint of rosemary to it I personally found it a little too sweet. Dessert was a delicious rhubarb and ginger crumble served with a little pot of creme anglais (it was so good I wanted to drink it straight from the pot)the crumble:fruit ratio was just right and not too sweet either. Only 3 cocktails on the menu so I went for a cosmopolitan which was nice and bitter, also sampled the bramble...delicious will definitely be drinking that next time! I finished my meal with an espresso which was served in 2 shot glasses (hipster style) the coffee itself was dark & bitter...yum! All in I was very impressed by Town Square and can't wait to return

Nicola S.

Yelp
I have to say I was more than impressed with Town Sq. I recently attend the elite secret supper here and all I can say was I was well impressed. The food was absolutely gorgeous home comforts but with the restaurant quality. The place itself has a real hipster vibe about it with exposed element light bulbs and shoes on the ceiling of the ladies toilets, but at the same time has not skimped on comfort or serving food in a weird and wonderful way, they have got the whole decor and vibe of the place down to a fine art. I thought on a Monday night the place would be dead with only the Yelp Elite in it, how wrong I was , the place never stopped. It was constantly buzzing with a mix of people just in for coffee or for their full evening meal. We had a set menu which could not have been chosen better. To start we had cauliflower soup with truffle oil and homemade Guinness wheaten bread, this wouldn't be something I would normally order but I have to say it was delicious and really set the tone of the evening. The main course was chicken supreme stuffed with mozzarella and sundried tomatoes on a bed of mash with a rosemary jus, if I thought the soup couldn't be topped this proved me wrong. The chicken was succulent and the mash so creamy or really hit the spot. To finish we were treated to a rhubarb and ginger crumble served with a side of creme anglaise, whilst I'm not a fan of the creme anglaise the crumble itself was amazing just the right crumble to filling ratio that took the tartness of the rhubarb and sweetened it up. After all that I was happy to go home with a smile on my face and plans of when we could next fit in a visit to Town Sq. The staff were exemplary, advising of the wifi password before we even asked, confirming what each dish was whilst they served and when asking how everything was they were genuinely happy to hear what a great time we were having. This place really is a hidden gem - I want to shout it from the roof tops and make sure everyone knows to go to it but on the other hand I would be really happy to keep the place all to myself!

Arran D.

Yelp
Great customer service, awesome venue, fantastic value for money... And arguably the best fish and chips in Belfast. They also host really cool (free) events a few nights a week

Luiz Z.

Yelp
Prices were cheaper, but sizes were very small too. Food was good and the place itself had some cozy and modern architecture.

Caroline S.

Yelp
I have heard so many good reports about this place I had to go and see what all the fuss was about. Perfect opportunity came when my friend and I booked tickets to the belfast film festival open cinema in the Crescent Park. I suggested meeting at Town Square for lunch beforehand, as it's just around the corner. The decor is warm and inviting with a few booths at one end, wooden bench type tables and comfy seats lining one side. Standard lunch menu with soup, sandwiches and salads. I ordered the Parma ham salad and my friend had the orange and walnut salad. They assumed we were getting the large salads and I am happy they did. My salad had fresh green leaves with lots of parma ham, fig and goats cheese with a tasty walnut dressing very tasty indeed. Service was quick and staff were friendly. reasonable prices. We ordered a coffee to go and they suggested one of the aeropress coffees, which are supposed to be the best in Northern Ireland. It was lovely, so I am going to have to test their claim! I would definately go back to town square and try their evening menu or sharing boards.

Heather O.

Yelp
Over all I am a fan of this place and I've been more than once. I love their white hot chocolate! Its so good! Their pulled pork was amazing! However I went again recently and made the mistake to try their french toast. It was super dry and made me feel queasy. Their pancakes are good but don't come with enough syrup. I would recommend this place as the decor is beautiful, their staff are overall friendly and most of the food is good.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Great location, food and atmosphere. Would defo recommend! They do cinema nights during the week!

Graham I.

Yelp
Fantastic food, great value for money, excellent decor and all round nice vibe. Called in for lunch on a Wednesday for the first time and wasn't expecting too much. Ordered the chicken gougons for £7.50 with a free side of sweet potato fries. Was amazed at the size of the portions and ended up not having dinner that evening. Great place for business meetings too, and a free and decent wifi connection too! Will definitely be back.

Jason A.

Yelp
There is a sign outside of Town Square that reads "Best Coffee in Belfast." Like any good tourist, we were suckered into going into Town Square to test the claim. Let's just say that it lived up to the claim. It was good enough that this is the only establishment in Belfast that we repeated during our vacation, and I still have dreams about the coffee there.

Nigel I.

Yelp
One of the eat coffee shops/cafes in Belfast. These guys have done a brilliant job in decorating their venue. The coffee and hot chocolate is outstanding. Food is excellent. **Highly recommended!**

Vivek T.

Yelp
Wine tasting at Town Square. What a superb event in an amazing venue by two very talented young chaps!! Adam and Simon from Harland Wines let us try 3 whites and 3 reds from India, Georgia and Australia respectively. Indian wine is probably the baby wine out of the three and it's tastes were unique. The Georgian wines (apparently the oldest in the world) were tasty as well. The Australian wines we all know their tastes!! The staff were great and the company was top notch-happy birthday S. Must try the food next time!!

Tamara T.

Yelp
Came in for coffee and breakfast. Waitress seated us then made us wait for menus while she had a chat with her colleague. When we finally got menus she didnt ask for our coffee order. We were there ten minutes and all we got were menus. It was not busy and this is probably why. We walked out.

David Z.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Lunch is really good but we came early for the incredible aeropress and highly recommend the carrot cake!

Nico R.

Yelp
Most oblivious wait staff I've ever seen. Was told to pick a table and then had to ask for a menu after 5 minutes had passed. Restaurant wasn't even busy. Took 15 minutes for them to get coffee to the table. As underwhelming an experience as I've ever had. Edit: we've been waiting for a bill for 15 minutes. The despair is real.

Re J.

Yelp
WHAT'S UP from the American girl who has developed a strange affinity for Belfast and all places in the North of Ireland. I stumbled upon Belfast last Spring, before Townsq. was open and went back in the Winter (because why not?)... and VOILA! I was surprised as a new cafe was born. I kept hearing about this place from friends of mine, as it was all the hype. I went in there with a friend, looking for something "healthy" to eat and some coffee for our killer headaches (hungover? maybe). We had some acai bowls and espresso which was INSANE and did not help our headaches, but holy hell, if you are a caffeine junkie... look out, you won't be disappointed. The next two days I found myself in there--once alone, as I enjoyed the ambiance and friendliness of the place, and a second time because two friends wanted to meet there for breakfast. I genuinely took to the smiles of the staff, the quality of the food, and the passion which the owners obviously have for this place. I am not a big yelper, but I figured, "Ah, they have so few reviews! And they're so great! I MUST GIVE INPUT." And alas, a review. I will be back.

Kent R.

Yelp
Ample seating and a casual atmosphere make this a great place to grab a coffee or beer. We went here several times on our holiday.

Jack F.

Yelp
Recently opened coffee house / restaurant. Popped in to settle the curiosity and the coffee did not disappoint one bit. First thing that you'll notice is the level of investment and attention to detail on the interior. Glanced over the menu, quite a few items stuck out, opted for the fry and I cannot remember any time where a fry was presented better. Taste matched the looks, incredible and very reasonably priced. Looking forward to trying other dishes. I'd recommend for anything from a morning coffee, a working lunch or a late afternoon refill. Service was great, prompt and kept immaculately clean.

Megan C.

Yelp
My friends and I visited Town Square for breakfast while on holiday in Belfast! We loved the vibe and the food. The avocado toast was fantastic!! The cappuccinos were great as well. It seemed like a great place to hang out to escape the rain or get together with friends!

Vicki F.

Yelp
Was really impressed with this place, somewhere id passed by so many times and never thought about going in. What a mistake that was! I don't know what it is about the location that makes it easy to pass by, but i like the new addition of the piano to try and draw people in, as I don't think I'm the only person that has over looked this gem. It is primarily a coffee shop, but the food they serve is top notch. We were treated to three courses and cocktails and they were delicious. Bit of a hipster vibe going on, but I wouldn't let that put you off, the staff were very hospitable and we were well looked after. I will definitely be back as a regular to this place.

Heather G.

Yelp
Last night was my first visit to town square, lovely fun and quirky decor inside, I liked the public piano outside, pity I cant play the piano otherwise I would have played a wee tune. The menu was good as there was pages were people can draw on, lots to choose from the menu. The decor was cosy and inviting with a mixture of age ranges. The staff were friendly and the woman who served us was great as describing the dishes we had. For starters we had cauliflower soup with truffle oil and Guinness wheaten bread, the soup was lovely and creamy, I will be back for the soup, the Guinness wheaten was lovely and sweet very like a piece of cake. For mains we had chicken stuffed with tomatoes and mozzarella with rosemary mash and rosemary jus, the chicken was cooked perfectly so tender and the mash was butter, creamy with the taste of rosemary in the background the rosemary jus was nice , very sweet. For dessert we had rhubarb and ginger crumble with creme anglais, the crumble was sweet and quite bitter, the creme anglais was so creamy and really yummy. This is a great place to have a bite to eat and a drink, the film looked good but we had to go home early, its great that town square hold a film night and other events. I will be back to this little gem of a place.

Yelp
Great vibe and food! Best portobello burger I've had. The feta salad was also well balanced -- not too much feta or sauce. The mushroom cream noodles (with leeks and fennel), however left a bit to be desired. The noodles were a bit dry, the sauce bland, and the mushrooms tasted reconstituted. If not for that, they'd have gotten 5 stars. All in all, a great find!

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere; friendly staffs However, I am concerned with the quality of food I was there for dinner to celebrate my sister done with her final exam. My sister ordered a burger, there is no complain about it. As for me, I ordered a steak, medium cooked. When the food arrived, the steak seem to be a bit dry. As I took my first bite, I even found it hard to swallow. So we told them, they were very kind and offered to change it for us, even gave us more chips. For the second try, it was a juicy-looking piece of steak. Common notion is that with such a delicious-looking steak it should taste great and tender. Sadly, there was a source of bitterness which was overwhelming strong, it was like eating a piece of very burned toast. Each bite I took, it felt like I could potentially get cancer out of it. Even though I was starving (as I had waited a fair amount of time by that time), I had to stop half way and just could not physically take it any more. Yet, it was just another disappointment. So we asked them again... They took it back to kitchen again. The staff came back with the same kitchen and she told us the burning smell and bitterness were due to fact it grilled over charcoal. Perhaps it was because my sister and I are oriental-looking.. She probably thinks we don't know what is grilling; she even explained how it got the grilling pattern. Then she told me, the degree of doneness that I desired I should have ordered rare. For that, please allow me to suggest you and chef to google images "How to cook a steak..." to revisit the universal consensus. As the part that she assume the fact I am clueless about the concept of grilling, I response is that - I am know as much as the general population. I am sure the bitterness should not have taken over the taste of a steak. At the end, the manager gave us 50% off. But still... I felt humiliated. It was not a pleasant experience at all, both physically and emotionally. We planned to stay for desserts at first, but after that I had lost all of my appetite.

Yelp
One of my favourite places to hang in Belfast. The vibe is really chilled, the food is good, the coffee is definitely the best I've had in Belfast and it's big enough to find a space to yourself and not feel intruded upon. Would 100% recommend visiting Town Square!
