Great dinner experience overall. It has a good atmosphere with right lighting and tasteful interior design. The food we had was just amazing, and the beef steak was close to perfection, cooked just right with complimentary sauces. The chef made our birthday night perfect with a cute happy birthday message on the house.

Pretty Amazing place. The staff is super friendly and hospitable and the food was creative and delicious. The raspberry and vanilla parfait is a must have!! It is light and creamy with vibrant bursts of raspberry. The horse fin tuna is also amazing, especially paired with the cherry tomatoes. Overall it is a great place to eat at and the presentation is beautiful!

I went this morning with some friends for breakfast with no expectations as I’d never heard of it before. I was SUPER impressed! They were on day 2 of a new menu, and I thought it was really interesting, a lot of cool flavour profiles and a few unusual concepts which I really appreciated as a lot of places seem to have variations of the same dishes these days. My table had the following: Full eggy w side of halloumi Mr simple White fish eggs bene w side of sausage Bacon eggs bene w side of halloumi French toast Banoffee crumpet All the dishes were beautifully plated and portion sizes were good. The stand out dishes for me were the white fish eggs bene (10/10 recommend) and the French toast! White fish eggs bene was an ambitious choice I thought but I was super curious so I ordered it and I have NO regrets. it was perfectly pan seared, a little crispy and a lot of buttery flavour, the saffron hollandaise was a perfect match for the subtle flavour of the fish and it was a surprisingly light dish, I finished it with room for the French toast as well which had me equally pleased as my first bite was an experience. Really well balanced dish - the espresso cream, honeycomb, and texture of the French toast combined were *chefs kiss* Things to note: we went on first table so we had a 50% discount off the food only (drinks full price) which makes it excellent for tables of 2-4 people! The coffee was also great. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Good food and great service. The jackfruit starter could have a deeper jackfruit flavour with less seasoning and the tuna could be fresher. Overall was a great experience.

We had dinner on a Friday evening. We had a booking, which was just as well, as it was quite busy on arrival. We were quickly seated. We did the 3 course trust the chef option for $75 each. We ended up with the crispy truffle chicken, lamb loin and sticky date pudding. All of the courses were delicious and cooked well. Service was excellent, the food came reasonably quickly. All in all hard to find any fault. Recommended.

We enjoyed only dessert. The taste was good. It felt luxurious. Thank you!

Honestly such a good experience. Food is absolutely to die for, although wish we had a steak knife to cut our meat, was very hard to cut with a normal knife! Anyway, the cocktail was absolutely gorgeous. The scallops are delicious and the rest were fantastic. Service is great too, very kind and attentive.

Yelp
Visited Town Tonic on a Saturday morning around 10 am, and unlike most Chch brunch places, the place was barely alive with only four other patrons. I was a little nervous, but we chose to stay and were seated at a tall top table by the window. I suppose the crew that visited Town Tonic into the wee hours of the morning were still sleeping off their hangovers. Our waiter was a little quirky, but friendly and efficient. We ordered an americano and a trim flat white. They both arrived quickly. The menu is very concise which makes choosing your entree easy. There are your breakfast classics: muesli or french toast, but the rest of the menu features eclectic specialty items that are impeccably prepared: Mexican Salad, Duck Liver, French Sardines, vegetarian options or the Gourmet Croque Madame. The croque madame was served on thick slices of bread with prosciutto "really good cheese" (their words, not mine), mustard all drowned in truffle oil with a fried egg on top. If you're not a true fan of truffle oil, this sandwhich will be a bit overwhelming by the second half, but the first half will be amazing. I ate every bite. The large hot breakfast looked like something straight from a mexican restaurant: Mushrooms, potatoes with jalapeños, tomatoes, a fried egg. My husband licked the plate clean and said this is one of his all time favorite meals in Christchurch (he didn't even save me a bite). We were very pleased with our breakfast option and recommend this joint to anyone in the area to check out for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks!

Yelp
Town Tonic was once a nice restaurant. We used to come here almost every week and always enjoyed the service and food. However, a few months ago a new owner decided to show up. Every day was a different food eg. Carrots this was very lame and boring especially that we couldn't order our ordinary food. This started to get worse when we saw the manager of the restaurant spying at other restaurants eg. Mexico. This place is definitely not worth your time or money.

Yelp
A few of us stumbled on this place a couple of months ago and we all really enjoyed the service and food. So a month later I tried to book to find the pate I was wanting had to be made the day before. So last Monday I thought I'd get in early & was pleased the chief answered, who clearly was busy & not bothered with my questions but I still requested and booked in the pate for 4 of us & stated we were coming in for a 2nd attempt for pate on the Thursday. Anyway 15 mins b4 the booking my gut feeling said ring and check and confirm. To my horror they only had enough for one. So 4 people 2 times have missed out on my business. I won't be back even though it is convenient for Me and my parents.

Yelp
Most disappointing dining experience to date. Promised so much but delivered very little. The restaurant decor was nice. The service was terrible. The waitress was unapproachable & had a bit of a attitude (worst thing is I am sure she was the duty manager). My friend asked what was gluten-free as she can get severely sick from ingesting gluten- this comment was not well received & she was told to read the menu. The menu did not say whether the fish was dredged in flour! The potato skins promised truffle but sadly there was none. The main meals were good. The dessert was very lack lustre. The PBJ was average- only redeeming part was the raspberry sorbet. My friend got the ice-cream sandwich which was inedible. You needed a pick-axe to even attempt it. The part we could try was the ice-cream but only a small bit we managed to chip off. It was icy!! What was the chef thinking even plating this up! The sponge was rock solid. My friend paid for it & all the chef said that if we'd said something about it, they could've fixed it. We did but the waitress didn't care. And let's be real- there was no saving that dessert. So if you want an below average meal with terrible service and pay plenty of $$$ for the experience, please be Town Tonic's next guest. All I can say is diner beware!!
