Love the towpath around the Cleveland area. There a number of paths and connections to other roads that you can make it any distance you want. Especially like the segment along the river and up the hill into Tremont. Feels like a park a bit despite being just outside the city. In the Tremont spot, there is some picnic tables and grill...but mostly just trail.

Great jogging path with wonderful views of the city, river and bridges. A little hilly to get the heart pumping. Great for biking and just a nice stoll.

Many interesting photo opportunities. Vintage Cleveland juxstaposed against newer construction. Vegetation reclaiming the area which adds color. Hidden areas ripe for exploration. The Towpath Trail's history is rooted in the Ohio & Erie Canal, which operated from 1827 to 1913 and played a crucial role in the development of the Midwest. The canal was a vital transportation route, allowing goods to be transported from Lake Erie to the Ohio River. The towpath, which runs alongside the canal, was used by mules and horses to pull the canal boats. Today, the Towpath Trail follows the historic route of the canal and towpath and serves as a recreational trail for visitors to explore the park's natural beauty and learn about the area's history. Along the trail, visitors can see remnants of the canals infrastructure, such as locks and aqueducts as well as historic landmarks and buildings.
