All the New Ways to Explore Alaska this Summer

"Tracy LeBarge, owner of Tracy’s King Crab Shack, a popular restaurant in the port city of Juneau, said she lost 95 percent of her business last year, going from a couple hundred diners a day to less than 20. However, with the loosening of restrictions and the increasing number of vaccines, she’s optimistic that this year will be different. 'Last year was dismal—we depend on tourism,' LeBarge says. 'But I’m hopeful for this year. I think there will be more independent travelers and more smaller ships, so I think it’s going to be better than last year.'"

Oh my lanta—absolutely incredible! Everything we heard pointed us to Tracy’s King Crab Shack for the best crab legs in Juneau—and now we know why. I honestly can’t imagine them being better anywhere else. We shared the #1 Crab Shack Combo with Alaskan Red King Crab, and it was perfect for two. I was tempted to ring the bell for the 3-pound bucket, but there’s no way my wife and I could’ve tackled that alone—these legs are massive! It’s not just about size, though—the flavor is phenomenal and totally worth the price. The atmosphere is casual, family-friendly, and fun. This place is worth every penny. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable Alaskan treat!

Tracy’s King Crab Shack in Juneau totally lived up to the hype. If you love seafood—or even if you're just curious—this place is a must-try while you're in town. We got the crab combo with a giant king crab leg, crab bisque, and a crab cake, and everything was delicious. The crab was sweet, super fresh and tender, and the bisque was rich and flavorful. The place has a fun, casual vibe. You order at the counter, and they bring your food out while calling your name and where you're from (which adds a fun touch). Seating is mostly outdoors under a big tent, and the staff was friendly and fast, even with a long line. Yes, it’s a little pricey—but honestly, the quality makes it worth it. You’re getting real Alaskan king crab, and it’s a memorable experience.

Google
The words can’t describe how amazing the crab was! The best crab I will ever enjoy in my life. They were cooked perfectly, meat came out easy, they cut the big part of the leg for you to make it easy to extract. The joy of eating king crab is so amazing. The beer batter shrimp were delicious as well. The whole experience is something I won’t forget. If I ever go back to Juneau this will be a must stop again!

Google
Wow this place was everything that people said. Yes the King Crab Leg is as big as your head and it is $85. My wife said it was worth every penny. I’m not the big seafood person so I had the pork sliders. I can tell you they were great. My wife said the king crab leg was fantastic and eat every piece of it. It’s well worth it. Stop by.

Despite the constant queue (which does move quickly), Tracy’s didn’t meet our expectations, especially given the premium pricing. We tried the red king crab combo for $100+ per person, which includes crab cake, bisque, and bread. At this price point, you’d expect high-quality crab that showcases the sweet, delicate flavor. Unfortunately, all the crab here is frozen, and you can taste the difference - the natural sweetness is lost. The crab cake was bland, the bisque was overly salty, masking rather than complementing the crab, and the bread was mediocre at best. For $100+ per person, you can find much better fresh crab elsewhere. Save your money.

Google
This was a must try on my list! The order before you eat was a little underwhelming being we had a group of 7 & I didn't want to spend 400+ dollars and have no where to sit! That being said, the King Crab legs were great! HUGE and loved the presentation of a the large bucket! The mini crab cakes were delicious, the sauce was spicy but a great addition to the crab cakes and the bisque wasn't my favorite, but my group loved it.

Google
Tracy’s King Crab Shack is the best seafood restaurant we’ve been to in the states! The quality and price are unparallel! There is no fishery in Alaska, meaning all the seafood is wild-caught. Although Juneau has no roads connecting to the outside, and entirely relies on ships and airplanes, it is the economic and political hub in the region. Goods and services are often cheaper than the surrounding tourist towns. The Crab Shack not only offers great crab at great price, it’s dip and beer are one of the best as well. If you are a tourist in the Southeast Alaska, and want an easy stop for excellent crab, this is the one.

Google
I’m always reluctant to try the place that is packed with tourists but every local we asked recommended Tracy’s so we gave it a try. The long line was almost a deterrent but it moved quickly and we were ordering in no time. It was just hubby and myself and we opted to only get 1 pound to share which was two HUGE crab legs and we found that to be perfect for us. Sat next to a couple eating a 3 pound pail and they finished that off so as they say “you do you”! The crab was AMAZING!! My first time having King Crab and I loved it. The staff at Tracy’s was helpful in helping us decide what and how much to order which we greatly appreciated. Great beer selection too. A must stop in Juneau!

Yelp
Stopped by here during a Glacier Bay cruise on HAL this past year. Seemed like it could be a touristy spot given its location and popularity, but man did it hit the spot! Line was out the door, but it moved quickly and soon enough we were placing our order! Fast-casual set-up where you order at the counter, scout the joint for a place to sit and then your food is brought to you piping hot. Workers were very diligent about seeing people rise up after their meal and swooping in to clear the space for the next guests. We easily found space after only a few minutes stalking a spot. Shortly thereafter, our platter of goodies arrived and we dug in! Our king crab combo was fantastic, consisting of rolls with garlic butter, crab bisque (spicy and creamy), crab cakes and of course giant king crab legs. I've never seen (or eaten) king crab before, and the huge chunks of meat definitely had the consistency and luxurious flavor of lobster...and then dunked in their drawn butter it took the volume meter to eleven! Everything about the meal was delicious and we left stuffed to the gills. Do not sleep on this place and don't let looks be deceiving...these folks know their way around a seafood platter.

Yelp
We stopped by during the cruise. Waited in line long for dinner. Ordered with friendly staff. Then looked around for open seating. Staff will bring food to you. Crab legs was huge, good portions. Food tasted good, so glad we stopped by. Afterwards we washed our hands at the hand wash station.

Yelp
We stopped here during our port visit in Juneau. OMG! This was my favorite part of my Alaskan cruise. All I can say is "run don't walk" to this place. I have been eating crab legs all of my life but nothing beats the crab I tasted at this place. I'm pretty sure this is the case for most of Alaska but seriously - THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS! I'm super late with this review (it's been years) but the main thing to know is that you will be reaching deep down in your wallet to eat here. However, if you're on a cruise, this is well worth the splurge! I mean - how often do you come to Juneau, Alaska, right??? The lines get pretty crazy here since this is a huge draw for people coming on/off the cruise ship. We were lucky to get to the restaurant at a good time well before it was time to get back on the ship yet still beat the rush. My husband and I ordered the Crab Shack Combo and an extra cluster of snow crab legs. That came with an 8 oz cup of lobster bisque, 4 mini crab cakes and 14 oz of crab (we chose the red king crab, of course). This also came with garlic rolls and butter. When I tell you the king crab legs were as long as my arm, I'm not exaggerating! And the taste - *chef's kiss*. Like I said, don't skip this place when you come to Juneau!

Yelp
I definitely think it's a very touristy spot that you need to try one time, I'm not fond of fried food "seed oils" I'm glad I stopped in to check it out but this place isn't my speed, but you will be a fan if you like fish & chips and all the fried, fast & easy grub. Ciao

Yelp
Fresh crab. Long lines. But service is pretty fast. They had another line for takeout. I came in the evening and I got my food within 10 minutes which is pretty awesome. This place has long long lines during the day especially when there are cruise ships in port. Everyone seems to getting the buckets of crab. But I didn't want the mess and I didnt have the patience. I found the portions to be so large that I had enough for lunch the next day too. There was lots of veggies so it didn't taste heavy and it was not greasy at all for being a fried crab cake. I found it to be pretty like considering it wasn't the healthiest option. Overall I liked it and if there isn't a line...I definetly would come back. Probably on everyone's list to eat at when they are in town. So do try to come in the late evening to avoid the long lines during the day!

Yelp
Back in late August/early September, I went on an Alaskan cruise, and going into it, friends who have also had the experience RAVED about Tracy's, so it was a guaranteed stop for us while we were in the capital. There was a line that moved relatively quickly and the inside was packed, but we were able to snag a table for our party of 5. I'm not a person who's had a ton of experience with crab outside of like crab cakes, but everything we ordered was SO good. I would say prepare to spend some coin here! Our $100 combo came with 2 drinks, 2 HUMONGOUS crab legs (like as long as my human arm), with butter-sauce dip, a cup of crab bisque and like 4 crab cakes plus bread. Totally worth the price though, because the crab meat was buttery, tender, and sweet. It was amazing, definitely something everyone should try at least once (dietary restrictions/allergies permitting). The bisque was perfect for the cold, rainy day Juneau was having and the crab cakes were the best I've had, just a very well-rounded flavor and just the right amount of flaky. I've just never seen crab legs that big, it was insane.

Yelp
This place is on the pier where the ship docks. One of the first places you will see. The line will be long, but they move it really fast. If had the tourist cost but well worth it for sure. Whether you visit it coming off the ship before your excursion. Or take the chance they aren't sold out of everything after your excursion. Tracy's is a great place to eat.

Yelp
Heard all about the over sized crab legs! Talk of the trip! Casual walk up establishment known for serving the best & BIGGEST crab legs ever. Upon finding the restaurant literally a line out the door, no exaggeration! Walk up to cashier order your food & food is brought to your table. King size crab legs are not cheap. Approx $85 per single leg. No lie the food is absolutely amazing! Again we ordered way too much food. This time, no way to take some home. We just had to try a little bit of this & that

Yelp
Are you kidding? Who doesn't love Alaskan king crab? This was my most anticipated item on my Alaskan cruise itinerary and definitely was the first thing I went to when disembarking the ship. The line to order was probably 20-30 minutes long. It felt like a breeze as the excitement to see how the crab was made and able to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and crips air in Juneau. The Alaskan king crab was SOOOOOOOOO delicious. I'm unsure how many O's I had to put to emphasize the deliciousness and freshness of the crabs. I've had a 7lb king crab before at a dinner somewhere else but let me tell you - this method of just boiling the king crab with no other bells and whistle is honestly the best way to enjoy it. I highly recommend trying this if you're at Juneau! Also tried few other items but honestly only the king crab really stole my heart.

Yelp
We LOVED Tracey's!! We ordered a variety of items to start but because we got a bucket they rang a bell and called out for our order which was really fun! There wasn't a ton of seating but people were good about making room and not lingering too long so we were able to find a place quickly outside by the heater. We were really comfortable! For the food: Alaskan king crab: There were three of us and we followed their 1 LB per person suggestion and three pounds was a good amount! The crab was the best I've ever had. You do pay for the quality but in my opinion it is absolutely worth it! Crab cakes: they were good not great but overall they were good. They were small in size but we didn't want a ton since the main dish was the full legs. Crab bisque over rice: this wasn't our favorite sadly. I would suggest skipping this in the future and if I'm ever back there we won't get it. Cole slaw and rolls: these came with the bucket we ordered. The Cole slaw was a solid side dish and my dad really enjoyed it. The rolls were good but nothing special. All in all we loved our experience here and the crab was as good as they say! I highly recommend a stop here if you're in Juneau!

Yelp
I could write a novel on how much I enjoy Tracy's! If you're looking for a budget friendly option, this isn't the place for you. But if you understand that this is a every now and again treat, go. You will absolutely love it and have memories forever! We got a 3 pound bucket of crab for two of us. It was a lot of crab, but we've dreamt about this since first visiting in 2018. The crab is so sweet, the butter is an amazing touch, but not needed, because the crab is so good. The staff is outstanding. Many of them are local, and the ambiance is nothing special but you meet a lot of nice folks sitting at their community style tables.

Yelp
We got some great insider info and headed to Tracy's King Crab Shack II instead of the flagship one downtown. It was far less crowded and much quieter away from all of the cruise ships and tourists. It was warm for Alaska, but I feel like crab boils taste the best when done outside. The breezy deck/patio set-up was a welcome environment for the feast we were about to undertake. I also like the ease of ordering food and drinks at different stations, then finding a place to sit. Of all my food experiences in Juneau, this was my favorite. It may be in my top 5 of all time. I've never had more perfectly cooked crab in my life. It was so succulent, perfectly sweet with nothing more needed to accompany it than melted butter. A bucket is the way to go for a group. While the pricing may be intimidating, it's well worth it, especially with the legs being so huge. The crab cakes and the bisque were also super delicious. Whether you're on a cruise or just visiting Juneau, Tracy's King Crab Shack is a must. You won't find any better king crab in the city, if not Alaska.

Yelp
In my opinion, an expensive must if you're in Juneau and want to get your chance to try Alaskan crab. We shared a meal that included King crab legs which was just under $100. It didn't fill us up, but it was in fact extremely delicious. We ordered our food in line and found an area to sit. The staff delivered the food to us by calling us by our first name and what state we're from -- that made it kinda fun! We got really lucky cause there was almost no line when we got there, but minutes later it was packed! However, I did learn that there's a second location not too far off from here. This restaurant is right by the port, which makes it great for cruisers.

Yelp
Literally the best crab we have ever had. This is a must try stop anytime in Juneau. The crab is very fresh and large. We ordered a combo and a side order of shrimp. It was all so mouthwatering! We can't wait to visit again! Mothers are two locations but we have only ever tried the one on the dock.

Yelp
Stopped by here during our cruise stop in Juneau and it did not disappoint! This definitely has to be one of your stops for fresh crab, especially if you're not a fan of crab but want to experience the culture of Alaska. Tracy's will make you a fan of crab! It's conveniently located right along the port in downtown Juneau. We stopped by on a weekday around lunch time before all the other cruise ships docked so we were able to find a seat! It was crowded so we sat outside. Service was friendly and helpful. Food came out relatively quick. Prices were reasonable. What we ordered: -Beer Battered Shrimp: I got this because I'm not a huge fan of crab BUT I realized that the crab that I've had before wasn't fresh like Tracy's is! Anyways, the shrimp was really good! There was a thick layer of batter that looked bread-like. At times it was kind of a lot in regard to saltiness but it was nonetheless delicious with lemon! 4/5 -Alaskan King Crab Bucket (3 lbs): This was split between 3 people and it was just the right amount. They do recommend a pound/person but if you have a larger appetite, you may need a little more than a pound. Tasted super fresh, no crab/fish taste at all! I'm not a fan of the crab/fishy flavor but this had none of it! I'm not sure what it tasted like but the meat was so good dipped in butter! They ran out of coleslaw so we got rice instead. It was also served with garlic rolls that were AMAZING! 5/5 Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here! It was so fun to eat fresh crab with my family and be able to actually relate to the love of crab that people have! I will for sure make sure to come back to this place if I'm ever in Juneau again!

Yelp
You would think that the location of Tracy's King Crab Shack right in front of the dock for all the cruise ships would indicate it is a tourist trap, but I honestly don't think it is. It's a blessing in fact. My partner suggested this place for an early lunch after we returned from an excursion at around 11am. There was no line outside the door, so we browsed the menu and quickly settled on the crab leg combo (lb of crab legs, cup of bisque, 4 crab cakes, side of unlimited garlic rolls), which seemed perfect for the two of us. After paying $75 at the front register for the combo and two sodas, we sat at one of the huge tables. They play loud country music inside, but it honestly was motivating to work through our crabs lol. Our food was quick to come out, so we got to cracking right away. I prefer snow crab the most, so that's what we got. The snow crab legs were huge compared to what I get locally in Southern California! And the meat was totally fresh. Quite literally the best crab legs I've ever had. All of the food was stellar, which makes Tracy's a 5 star Yelp restaurant. The crab cakes were almost like hush puppies with a kick of spice. And they give you this slightly sweet, tangy, spiced up sauce that goes so so well with them. The bisque and the garlic rolls were also divine. I will give fair warning that there was no line at 11am when we ordered. When we left though, the line was reaching the Tram station. So get there early!

Yelp
I heard Tracy's King Crab Shack was the place to go in Alaska. I am glad we went to the Franklin street location because there was WAY less people here compared to the location right next to the port. The wait time was about 15-20 min total. Your bigger question: how was the crab legs? Answer: they were worth every penny. Yes, eating here was a little bit on the pricey side. We shared this bucket shown in my photos for 4 people and could have probably ate more. The food was excellent. They have a little side bar as well if you are looking to get a drink. 5/5 star; not sure if I would have given the same rating to the other location because it was too packed!

Yelp
June 2024 - incredible crabs, great beers, we visited this location at our cruise stop Juneau and Alaska is beautiful in June and this stop with its great food made this a memorable trip :) We are looking forward to exploring Juneau and Alaska again !

Yelp
A good choice for some good crab. Long lines as it's just where the ships pull in but really, the line goes very fast. Pic-nic tables. Inside and outside tables. When it's busy you will have a hard time finding a seat but walk around and something will open up. The ordering at the goi yet is quick and the delivery equally quick. Several choices for crab and different sides. Was delicious . Crab is always expensive but it's a fun time, yummy and worth it $.

Yelp
This place is so amazing, we flew there from Seattle for lunch! We visited here 4 years ago on a Seaborne Alaska cruise and this was literally the best meal of the trip. They have two locations but the pier side remains open longer into the season. Order at the counter and bring your credit card cause crab is not cheap. While they offer lots of crab, Red King is well, King! Do not miss the Crab Bisque with soft dinner rolls! We share a 3 pound bucket of Red King, soup, fries, slaw and soft steamed dinner rolls. Outstanding and completely indulgent. Worth the capital outlay and the two hour flight! Go here!
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
Is it egregiously expensive, yes. Is it worth every dollar, also yes. Yes, this is a tourist trap but you should absolutely get Alaskan King Crab in Alaska and Tracy's is the place to do it. The crab is delicious and warm and even though you may think it won't fill you up, it will. Service is fast despite the length of the line. Definitely try and get yourself a space inside if you can.

Yelp
This place was awesome! On our cruise stop to Juneau, I noted this spot and was eager to visit for some fresh crab. There is a line out front, but they move pretty quickly and keep it efficient. You order and pay at the counter, find seating, and they'll bring out your food. Very casual and fun ambiance. They have a couple of other options if you aren't into crab, but not many. We all opted for their combo meal, which came with their crab bisque, 4 crab cakes, unlimited garlic butter rolls, and your choice of crab (price depends on your crab selection, ranging from $49-$85). It was the best deal if you didn't go for the larger by-the-pound family meals, and 100% worth it! The crab bisque was phenomenal, the crab cakes and rolls were tasty, and the crab was perfectly cooked. Overall, we had a great experience and really enjoyed the visit. I'm glad we opted to dine here on our stop to Juneau!

Yelp
Stopped in to try Alaskan King Crab. Be ready to wait in line - it's worth it. I think it is kind of pricey but sometimes you have to pay for the experience. I tried the crab, the crab bisque and the crab cakes. All were delicious. The atmosphere is very laid back and loud. Service excellent. Only one negative - there's one bathroom.
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun place in Juneau Alaska! The place was a fun, filled environment of so many travels off the cruise ships. When you walk in you quickly order and pay. They take your name and state and that's how they find you. It was fun to hear names and locations from around the world all Snacking on seafood. I went flight of beers and a bisque, full of crab- we had just left a tour which included a salmon bake. My peer ordered the pound of King Crab$85.00. It came with 2 tubs of melted butter, and it was no problem to get more. An amazing experience! Totally recommend for any seafood lover.
google avatar

Nancy R.

Yelp
Although there was a wait, it went by seemingly quickly. We will be back. I wanted to cruise to Alaska again just to come back to Tracy's. The crabs tasted very fresh. They were the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The rolls...OMG!! I could eat them every day all day...with the king crab of course.
google avatar

Deidra B.

Yelp
Stopped in here because that's what everyone does when they are in Juneau Alaska we had a group and we all ordered soups or Apps. It was packed and service was still on point! Tried some crab bisque and mini crab cakes. The garlic rolls with the bisque were soooo good! This is just a "joint" type of restaurant nothing fancy. But it was fun and tasty! We all enjoyed ourselves!
google avatar

Bill J.

Yelp
Convenient location for fresh King Crab dockside in Juneau cruise port. With two cruise ships in town, the line to order was 12-15 people most of the day. We waited until about 6pm and were able to walk right in. Simply order at the counter and have a seat. Dining areas were comprised of mostly picnic bench-style seating. Nothing pretentious. The weather was great on this day(as it was our entire trip), so we sat outside on the patio. Considering the tourist premium and Alaska's cost of living, the prices were not too bad.

Yelp
5/19/2024 Juneau, Alaska was day 4 of my 11 day cruise to Alaska and Canada. Tracy's Crab Shack can be seen while docked, and only a stones throw away by foot. You can't stop in Alaska without having salmon and king crab! To be fair, this is a no thrills eatery attracting tourists near and far for one thing and one thing only - king crab! This is also a place where one cannot eat gracefully, but one can only try right? Location: our ship docked early in the morning, and the beauty of having a balcony is being able to see the outside from the comfort of our own cabin. The first thing I spotted while opening our drapes is Tracy's Crab Shack, directly adjacent to the cruise port. Our intention is to dine in before returning to the ship. The Shack: minimal decor, concrete floors, high ceilings and metal walls line the entire restaurant itself. The process is simple, you line up, place your order at the register, and wait for the food. The Moment of Truth: we opted for the combination, which consists of buttered rolls, crab bisque, crab cakes, and 14oz's of king crab legs attached to part of the torso. With the addition of a soft drink and taxes came to roughly $90. We weren't sure how we would retrieve our order once we sat down; eventually a server called out names and placed those orders wherever that holder sat. One would say that this might be an expensive lunch for 1, yes I did not share, in fact my friend and I each ordered our own meal. It was so worth it! We spent roughly 45 minutes dining in, with part of that time peeling the barbed king crab legs. The meat itself was so juicy, sweet, tender melt in your mouth, and unforgettable. The addition of the soup, bread and crab cakes is definitely a value and super filling. Definitely get their king crab! Our initial thought was to attempt an entire bucket of king crab legs. There were others braving that option, in which a bell would be rung notifying that a bucket had been sold. I'm not sure if both my friend and I would have been able to finish an entire bucket, but that we were happy with the combination we got. As we left the restaurant, staff members can be seen at the front boiling fresh king crab, and it was a sight to be seen. So happy to have had my king crab fix!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! We stopped here shortly after getting off our cruise--there was a bit of a wait to order but the line moves fairly quickly. The place was packed but seats seemed to open up pretty regularly and it is a large space, with a smaller covered outdoor portion as well. Once you order, you wait around for an open seat. The servers will come around and call out your name (and your state of origin), bring you your food and all utensils+napkins. The king crab is pricy but well worth it! For me the star of the show was the crab bisque which was sooo delicious and had generous chunks of crab in it. The crab cakes were good as well and the biscuits were heavenly. Appreciated their draft beer selection and would definitely say this place is a must when visiting Juneau!

Yelp
This is a must stop while visiting Juneau! It sits dockside in the Juneau harbor. Last night I only stopped by to peek my head inside to see what all the hype is about. So glad I did because it has wonderful energy. You place your order at the front register and pay there. They will ask where you're from. When your food is ready they will ring a bell, staff will chat something in unison and announce your name with state or city you're from ("Marty Colorado"). I ordered a bowl of their crab bisque. It's served with hot and buttered dinner rolls. They're slightly seasoned as well. I was very impressed with the crab bisque. Dinner rolls were great too. The young man who served me struck up a conversation about wanting to attend CSU in Fort Collins, CO but decided on another school in a different state. He told me that it was a close call with CSU but chose the other school instead. Nice young man! Their dining seating is rows of picnic tables. Everyone sits together and seems to have a good time. They serve several beers on tap and they have a gift shop as well. Heads up here! Be prepared to pay out a lot of money for crab legs. I plan on returning for much today. Nice setup and experience last night. Looking forward to returning for lunch today!

Yelp
Had my doubts but the king crab here is life changing. The restaurant got really packed as other cruise ships docked so if there's ever not a line please go. I ordered the combo #1 with king crab, the crab cakes and bisque were good but not necessary. If I were to come back I'd only get the crab legs.

Yelp
I heard all about this place. The line to get in was kind of long but moved fast. Worth the wait. The crab legs are amazing. Service is friendly and fast. You may even make new friends sitting at a table. When in Alaska this is the best for crab legs fresh and flavorful

Yelp
I ordered the crab cakes only and they are amazing, but sorry why are they charging $2 for to when they literally on slipped a thin paper bag around what I would've eaten in the restaurant. Be aware there is a charge to go!

Yelp
Original from California and went on an Alaska Cruise on NCL Bliss. You just have to have king crab when in Alaska. We also had Dungeness Crab as well. When in town, please visit this restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Long lines move surprisingly fast! High quality crab legs and reasonable pricing compared to other restaurants in other cities in Alaska. Didn't seem as though tourist pricing to take advantage of cruise goers, etc. and was even recommended by a local. Love the story behind Tracy's :)

Yelp
I have to admit, I knew the line would be long and the prices high but once I was standing there in the long line while freezing my butt off and looking at the menu and realizing that one of the kids and I would not enjoy the food, I wanted to leave. My husband and other kid wanted to try it, so we did, I mean how often will we be there? It was actually totally worth it. We got a combo with a pound of king crab and clam chowder and crab cakes then we added on some fried shrimp and pulled pork sliders. I loved the fried shrimp. I hate crab. I mean very very much dislike it. This crab was so good! My youngest was freaked out by it being in legs yet tried it anyways and scarfed down tons of it! Other than my hubby hating the process of removing the crab meat, we all really enjoyed this meal. I'm so glad we stuck around in the freezing cold.

Yelp
King crab legs were amazing! And huge! However, I do have to say it is very expensive for what you get. Service is pretty quick. Atmosphere is picnic tables and grab once yourself as soon as you see one available.

Yelp
Glad we got to try this place after hearing about it. This location is right by the ship docks, so either get there early or try to go on off hours because the cruise passengers roll deep. They won't let you get a seat until you've ordered, which helps with worries about having a place to eat but makes it difficult to ensure you're going to get a prime spot (table or larger bar). That said, it worked out for us and we got a good spot just in time to sit down and eat. it's pricy to get the "Deadliest Catch" king crab but definitely worth every penny. I would say follow their suggestions on pounds of crab per person because it was spot on! Alaskan King Crab: 100/10! Cooked perfectly and was delicious enough to eat without adding your own seasoning or getting sauce. They have condiments nearby if you so prefer. Crab bisque: 10/10! The perfect thing to warm you up after being out hiking or whale watching. Crab cakes: 7/10! They were pretty tasty but they're deep fried and a little dense so I couldn't eat more than a couple. Still worth trying if you're in a group or if you love fried food Cole slaw: 8/10! The right amount of crunch but well seasoned. It complimented the other dishes well French fries: 8/10! Delicious but standard fare Garlic rolls: 10/10! If you get the bucket you get refills on these? And I really wish we got the bucket because they were that tasty. The perfect finisher

Yelp
Tracy's King Crab Shack is nice airy seafood restaurant. It is right off the dock on Juneau, Alaska. One of my friend told me if I go to Juneau, visit Tracy King Crab Shack. If you have not have fresh king crab, this is the place to go. There is a line, however there is enough ambiance outside to keep you entertained. The king crab are so large. The price is high, but if you can afford it be prepared. The service is quick. Make sure you keep your receipt. The waitress will request it. First time visitor who order will get their name and state announced. Tracy provide an additional place to wash your hands. See the few pictures. $276. Do not include drinks.

Yelp
The line on port days are long so beware! You go in and order and then grab a table- they call out your name and where you're from so you hear where others come from! All young summer kids working and are very polite and good service. now to it. The king crab leg was EXCELLENT. the soup was very good and the cole slaw was the perfect addition. The crab leg was so fresh and the only problem was that I wanted more!! This place was packed and for a good reason!! Pricing from other stops and Juneau was around the same but Tracy's was definitely worth the stop!

Yelp
We HAD to stop by Tracy's while in port on our cruise. Be prepared to spend some money. We chose Tracy's to be our one spot we were going to splurge on Alaskan Red King Crab and they did not disappoint. I got the #1 crab shack combo: 1lb of red king crab, crab bisque, crab cakes, & garlic rolls for $85. I will tell you it's a ton of food. I would've been fine with just the crab but I wanted to try it all. Honestly 2 could share it then grab dessert somewhere. The food was very good!!!

Yelp
Went in July 2023. Alex was an a-hole. I seriously don't know why he acted the way he did but it made me mad how he was so impatient with my mom while taking her order. It really pissed me off. So much that I had to finish posting this a year later (it was in my drafts)! Anyway, the food was good. I'd definitely give 5 stars for the crab. The ambiance was chill and after the unpleasant experience with Alex, other employees came around and were very kind. That first employee just put a damper on our experience. As a tourist, you hear great things about places around the world and when you experience those places you want them to be good experiences. So that's why I rated this 3 stars.

Yelp
Visited while in Juneau for my friend's wedding. They have two locations - one right off the main cruise ship terminal (this one had a line out the door at all hours!) and one a bit of a walk down the street. I recommend the latter; it's more casual than the other location (which appeared to be a sit-down, full-service restaurant) but that adds to the crab shack appeal. You wait in line, order at the counter, and they call out your name when it's ready. You can also watch the cooks making your order which is fun. The crab was extremely fresh and a little sweet. Worth a visit if you're in town. Expect to pay a lot but you have to try the fresh crab when you're in Alaska! The decor was cute with lots of funny signs and also the story of the place.

Yelp
Was on an Alaskan cruise and was disappointed that our excursion would have taken the whole time on shore that we were sure to miss this iconic eatery. But alas, we were able to change our excursion to a shorter one and at last my dreams were answered. Straight after our excursion, we rushed to the red walled house on the waterfront and grabbed a menu from the front and examined it whilst waiting. The line took about 30 mins, so it does move fast. People leave as soon as they're done so that really helps. We read one of the rules is NOT to save seats. Order and pay, then look for a seat. We were a party of 2, so it was super easy to squeeze onto a table or sit by the window counter. Larger parties may have some difficulty but there are plenty of long communal tables which really helps. My husband and I went straight for the king crab legs. I really wanted to order the 3 pound bucket at $210 and decided to order a pound each $70 plus we were still full from the morning buffet. However, we ordered a pound of red king crab legs $70 and a pound of golden king crab legs $70. Each pound consisted of 2 legs, butter, a dinner roll and a red crab cracker. Let me tell you, it was delicious. I shoulda bought my surgical gloves to keep my hands from hurting as the legs were prickly and some parts were hard to crack open without abit of force. Meanwhile, the bell was ringing all the time for all the 3 lb buckets ordered. It sure was an impressive looking bucket. As I looked around there was pure excitement when the legs arrived. Service was great and there was an open sink for customers to wash their hands before leaving. We cleared our tables and threw them in the bin and almost forgot to take out our red bone cracker, which we then kept as a souvenir. They also have a small counter selling souvenir shirts and tee shirts. Definitely worth all the hype and a must eat, when in Juneau.

Yelp
While on our week long trip to Juneau, we tried both of Tracy's locations. If you're arriving by ship then the #1 location is perfect. At that location, we had the #1 combo that comes with 14oz of Alaskan King Crab, crab bisque, and mini crab cakes. While it was tasty, it's an extremely expensive meal for only 2 crab legs. The #2 location is great if you have a car or are up for a quick walk. The atmosphere is a lot more relaxed and the line moves quickly. At this location, we did the all you can eat local snow crab legs for $50/person which, in my opinion, is a banger of a deal. The crab was juicy, hot, and flavorful. If I had to choose, I'd visit the #2 location over the #1 location.

Yelp
I was skeptical about this place because of Tik Tok. To my surprise, the reviews online are pretty accurate: the lobster was soooooooo good. Worth the price. It's family style dining. You order and give your name and where you're from. Someone will bring your food to you. If you want alcohol be prepared to show ID at a separate bar. The lines moved pretty quick. 4 starts because it didn't feel welcoming.

Yelp
My family and I were on vacation in Alaska and while we were in Juneau we decided to stop by the highly recommended Tracy's King Crab Shack. We got the combination meal with 4 mini crab cake, crab bisque, and two king crab legs for around $90. We though this was a great deal considering that in Anchorage we got one king crab leg meal for $130! You order your food at the front and give them your name and where you live. When your food is ready they call out your name and where you are from to deliver your food. The food came out quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Three is both indoor and outside seating. We chose to sit outside on the picnic style benches because the weather was great, 50's and sunny. The combination meal was plenty of food for two people. One of our other family members ordered the beer battered shrimp and I tried one. Our combo was fantastic and the beer battered shrimp were fresh, hot, and perfectly crispy. If you get a chance to visit I highly recommend eating here! Rating from an F to A+++, I give it an A+++!
