"Tracy LeBarge, owner of Tracy’s King Crab Shack, a popular restaurant in the port city of Juneau, said she lost 95 percent of her business last year, going from a couple hundred diners a day to less than 20. However, with the loosening of restrictions and the increasing number of vaccines, she’s optimistic that this year will be different. 'Last year was dismal—we depend on tourism,' LeBarge says. 'But I’m hopeful for this year. I think there will be more independent travelers and more smaller ships, so I think it’s going to be better than last year.'"

I was looking forward to eating here for months before our trip and I can tell you, it did not disappoint!! King Crab legs were out of this world. But the crab bisque was the best I've ever had! The consistency was thick and rich with chunks of crab. The crab cakes with the spicy dipping sauce was also amazing. Definitely one of my most memorable meals. Can't wait to go back.

Went here to try some Alaskan King Crab but was disappointed they ran out and served Norwegian king crab instead at the same price and supposedly the same taste. We ordered some snow crab which was delicious, as well as the chowder - they didn't have bisque. We did have to line up outside but the line went pretty quickly. The experience was quite interesting and unique, but keep in mind that you will likely be sitting close to other people on the same table. All in all it was a good experience.

Very expensive BUT delicious and filling - a fitting option for splurging during a family vacation. We came during peak hours with a loong line out the door into the cold (always a good sign though, right?). The line moved along consistently, no worries. The staff is efficient and the crab pots are always running so we got piping hot, delicious crab legs shortly after we sat down. Everything was absolutely delicious!! We spent $300 for four of us (2 lbs of Red King Crab + two #1 meals with crab bisque, 4 mini crab cakes + snow crab + fries + two sodas). The portions were great, we all left full and very satisfied. The Red King Crab is $$$ but you get two large legs per lb and the pieces are sooo meaty and savory good. Definitely recommend as a rare treat when you’re in Juneau!

A fun, wild place for lunch. We lined up for 20 minutes to get inside. Pay at counter, grab beer and seats, name called ( Randy Toronto ) and food delivered. A bell rang and the staff yelled “Bucket” when a bucket was ready. We got an order of Alaskan Red King Crab and slaw, and an Alaskan Crab Bowl/rice/slaw. The bill came to $136.90 including a 10% tip. This included 2 Alaskan Amber beer as well. Not cheap, but think of it as dinner and a show!

A social media overhyped place. Enthusiastic eating environment. Interesting order and delivery protocol. The crab was not from fresh, but from frozen. It was pricey, $80/lb, you can get live Alaskan king crab at grocery in Toronto at $55/lb Canadian or at restaurants in Toronto at $72/lb Canadian, cooked the way you like (steam, sauteed with ginger and green onions, fried or Hong Kong style). If you have to try it regardless, be there early to avoid the long line up.

Fun place to get some locally caught crab! Located next to the cruise ship terminal so this place is always super busy. The line goes fairly quick and the food comes out fast. Many different options when ordering so there are plenty of options for small or large groups. Be sure to also get some local beers to wash it down - they have a good select of beers on tap. There’s a good number of seats inside but they also have an outer covered patio with additional seating. Great spot but be ready for a crowd!

Let me just start by saying, if you’ve never had *truly fresh* crab, you’re missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures. My wife and I, being seasoned crab lovers (thanks to the recent crab boil craze that’s swept the Midwest), thought we knew good crab. Turns out, we didn’t. Tracy’s King Crab Shack in Juneau just reset the bar for us—*and then some*. We arrived in Juneau on the Radiance of the Seas, but due to another ship docking downtown, we ended up about a mile away. Not a terrible walk, but after stuffing ourselves with crab and doing some shopping, we wisely chose to take the shuttle back to the ship! When we got to Tracy’s, the line was already snaking its way out the door. Don’t let that deter you though—this place is a well-oiled machine. It took us about 30 minutes to order, which flew by because the line moves quickly, and you can review the menu as you wait. When you finally get to the front, the ordering process is simple: pay, give your name and where you're from (always fun to hear other folks do the same), and then grab a seat. The seating is communal, so you might make some new friends while you wait. And speaking of waiting—it wasn’t long! Our food came out fresh, piping hot, and absolutely *to die for* in just 5-10 minutes. My wife ordered the snow crab, I opted for the Dungeness, and we both got the #1 combo, which includes 14 ounces of crab, a cup of luscious crab bisque, three mini crab cakes, and rolls. Everything was excellent, but let me tell you, that crab bisque? *Next level.* The crab here is the real deal—*so fresh, you could practically taste the Alaskan waters*. Tracy’s doesn’t mess around with fancy seasoning or exotic spices because the crab doesn’t need it. It’s prepared simply, letting the natural sweetness and tenderness of the crab speak for itself. If you’ve never had crab this fresh, you’re in for a revelation. And while we could’ve shared a meal (because portions are generous), let’s be honest—we’re not quitters. Every bite was worth it, and we left Tracy’s completely satisfied (and perhaps a little smug for having discovered what true crab heaven tastes like). If you ever find yourself in Juneau, do yourself a favor: skip the fancy restaurants, head to Tracy’s, and experience what authentic Alaskan crab should taste like. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

I got crabs from Tracy! And let me tell you, it was by far the best thing we did in Juneau, Alaska. This spot was the highlight of our day. We had a laugh because we ended up sharing a table with a super friendly lady... also named Tracy! Not THE Tracy, but she mentioned it's a pretty common name in Alaska(who knew). The crab? Absolutely next level and what I would expect Alaska to offer —succulent, fresh, and large. We were in town for a cruise stop, and after a long day exploring, this was exactly what we needed. It's a must-stop for anyone passing through Juneau. If you’re ever in the area, don’t skip Tracy’s.
